We ordered catering from Dragon Terrace for a family gathering to celebrate Mother's Day, and selected several delectable items. We got an order of chow mein, shrimp fried rice, mongolian beef, sweet and sour chicken, egg plant with fried tofu & string beans... and they threw in a tray of red bean sesame balls for free for paying cash. I tried everything, and all of the dishes were flavorful and filling. The most impressive dish and a favorite among the attendees was the egg plant with fried tofu & string beans. In fact, if we had to change one thing about our experience, it would be to get two orders of this dish!

Dragon Terrace still makes a pretty good Egg Foo Yung. I like to order the one with shrimp. I also ordered the cashew Chicken dish off the lunch menu and an extra fried rice. The egg dish was the best. The fried rice was okay. I ordered the cashew Chicken WITHOUT bamboo shoots and water chestnuts and got a plate full of them :( It was super hot in the restaurant today and they had no fans. I had to eat and leave quickly. There food is usually better, because I know this I will return. Thank you

Hidden Gem in Hercules! Beautiful historic town and found a great restaurant. We went on Saturday night, and they are many ppl inside. My favorite is the salted fish chicken fried rice and stir fried pea shoots. It has a very authentic taishan flavor. Highly recommend the salt and pepper fish and tsingtao beer. This will be a bomb combination if you want something to eat with when you watch NBA or football :) The owners are really nice and friendly, and they serve you food fast. 餐厅味道很不错,广东人认证! 价格也很实惠,菜品分量很足。

    Too much sour sauce

I haven't been to this restaurant for more than 10 years. Today I gave them a try and got their fried tofu, green beans and eggplant dish which is a new item for 13.95. The vegetables were drowning in too much sour sauce. The sauce was unpleasant and there was way too much of it. I may come back and try another dish but this was a very bad dish and I do not recommend it. The staff is very nice and the restaurant looks clean so I had high hopes. Hopefully next time will be a better experience. I do want to try their 8 pack sesame balls which are very cheap for $8. They are miniature size fried sesame balls.

I've been going to Dragon Terrace for at least 13 years. It's truly a Hercules staple! It's a 5/5 because they are the best in every aspect. 1. Honestly my favorite Chinese food ever. 2. The owners and the staff are kind and welcoming. Not to mention, have extremely fast service. The last time I went, the soup was ready within 5 minutes. Then the entrees and sides arrived while my party of 3 was still eating our soup. 3. The establishment is very clean, from the silverware, to the tables, to the floor. My too food recommendations: Peking duck (the best I've had) Whole crispy skin chicken (also sold as half) Salted fish and chicken fried rice Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce Those are my favorites, but I've loved everything I've ordered. Also wanted to mention they are family friendly, and good for large parties.

Been living in the area for so long and had yet to try Dragon Terrace. Ordered the following takeout items: Salt and Pepper chicken wings - a must try BBQ pork fried rice - flavorful General Chicken - good but sauce has a sweetness to it Salt and Pepper Ribs - love the kick with garlic bits Service was quick, food was ready and waiting to be picked up early even though they said 20mins.

Lunch Special - Fried Flounder with General Sauce and Chow Mein
    Erick L.

Solid option for Lunch in the area. The Lunch Special is a great deal, it comes with a cup of the Soup of the Day and Fried Won Ton appetizer. Today I had Chow Mein and Fried Flounder with General Sauce. The fish came out fresh out of the fryer with that General Sauce coating it. The sauce was good but the fish itself could have used a little seasoning. Chow Mein was better than standard. Service is quick but depending on what you order, some dishes take a little more time.

Dragon Terrace is my go to Chinese restaurant in the east bay area. Not only do they have authenric Cantonese food they make some great homestyle dishes from Hoisan, my home village. I can walk there from my house, giving me a chance to do a little but of exercise. The folks are friendly and took time to chat it up with my auntie about the old country! Dragon Terrace serves 2 dishes made with salted fish. These dishes are not easy to find at restaurants, not even in the bay area where so many Cantonese folks live. They were delicious; made like the way my mom used to make. Dragon Terrace also makes a decent beef noodle wonton. They use thin noodles, the way I like wonton soup to be made. The broth is flavorful, the beef could be a tad more tender and less marinated and the wontons would be perfect with a little more shrimp. Overall a great place for a meal. Next time? Simple but nice Chinese place. Food was good and a 4 star. Favorites were the salt and pepper shrimp and shrimp fried rice. General chicken average as lots of breading and not as much meats as I would like. Service is on point and did not miss a beat. Very friendly and helpful and you can tell passionate about their business. When they write your orders down in Mandarin you know you have a solid Asian team behind the counter. Ambiance is nice. Bathroom clean, simple decor, and we will make this our go to Chinese place even though It is 20 minutes away from our house!

Our Lantern Festival dinner: Combination Clay Pot (9 o'clock. Combination Happy Family, egg rolls, wor wonton soup, and brown rice.

Solid Mom and Pop Cantonese restaurant that is a local favorite. Check out: https://youtube.com/shorts/gbLwXjKr6MQ?feature=shared To celebrate the Lantern Festival without having to battle the damp, cold weather, we went to Dragon Terrace. It was a slow night. There was one family having dinner when we arrived, and someone waiting for their takeout. While we were there, one other party showed up for dine-in and one other for a to-go order. We took some time to order. Within 5 minutes after ordering, our wor wonton soup, then all the others we had ordered came out in quick succession. We were surrounded by food before even finishing the soup. As usual, the wor wonton soup and Combination Clay Pot were good. The egg rolls were a bit greasy, and my husband liked his Combination Happy Family. With the brown rice, the tab came up to about $65 with tax.

Seafood Wonton Soup (After most of it had been served)

It's the Lunar New Year and Chinese families always try to gather and share a meal. The craziness of overbooked restaurants and overwhelmed staff taught us many years ago that it was much more relaxing to celebrate a week ahead of time and avoid the crowds. Whenever we can, we'll get together the week before. I wanted some place somewhat out of the way, with good food and easy parking. I had seen Dragon Terrace years before and had filed them in the back of my mind. When asked to choose a restaurant this year, I checked with Yelp and saw that they had been able to maintain a decent score. The menu looked okay with the exception of not offering live crab or lobster. At least they had live fish. Serving a whole fish at the table represents the end of the old year and the beginning of the new year. Chinese people have a lot of superstitions and traditions. We arrived just past 5pm. The restaurant was already busy with guests. We were lucky to get one of the two remaining large tables for our group of six. The first thing I asked was what kind of live fish they had, and of course, they didn't have any. That wasn't the best start, but we'd get over it. Seafood Won Ton Soup (Large) - 4 - It was indeed a large bowl of soup with an assortment of seafood and plenty of wonton to go around. Peking Roast Duck - 3 - The duck was fine, but it was not a true Peking Duck. The skin wasn't super crispy, and the meat had not been sliced off of the bone at the table. The serving style was more reminiscent of Roast Duck served with buns. Not terrible, just not what we were looking for. Fried Pork Stuffed Eggplant - 4 - Fresh, firm and flavorful. House Special Pan-Fried Noodles - 5 - Crispy noodles loaded with proteins, veg and gravy. Yum! Salted Fish Steamed Pork Pattie - 4 - Almost as good as grandma used to make. My dad took a large portion, so that's a good thing. The only thing missing was water chestnuts and chopped dried shiitake mushrooms. Rock Cod and Bean Curd Clay Pot - 5 - Possibly my favorite dish of the night. What can I say? I was looking forward to some fish. Glazed Walnut Prawns - 4 - Nice fat bouncy prawns, crispy sweet with walnuts. Beef with Green Beans - 4 - We actually tried to order Beef with Asparagus but unfortunately, they didn't have any. The greens beans were good. All in all, a pretty good meal. We would certainly return for future meals. The convenience of the parking lot combined with the variety of the menu makes it a winner. The lack of live fish, while disappointing, is becoming more common post-COVID. It's a shame that they didn't have live crab since we're right in the middle of crab season right now. Service was very good and accommodating.

Tomato Beef Chow Mein. The beef was tough and stringy.
    Annie L.

This review is for takeout only and for Tomato Beef Chow Mein and Beef Chow Fun only. This restaurant has been here for many years and we used to come here a lot a long time ago when we lived closer. I was here a few days ago in the shopping center and decided to try this restaurant again for takeout. I really wanted to like this place as I have liked it very much in the past, but was disappointed with their tomato beef chow mein and beef chow fun. Both the chow mein noodles and the chow noodles were starchy and sticky as if they did not rinse the extra starch off the noodles after they cooked them. They were just OK quality, but I've had better. I was disappointed in the beef in both dishes, the beef was tough and stringy. I give two stars for the chow mein and chow fun, but gave them the benefit of the doubt with three stars because the owners were very nice, I haven't tried the other dishes so it wouldn't be fair for me to judge them on only two takeout dishes. I'll try them again another time and get something else.

I came to China Delights to try their Hung Tao Wor Yee Won Ton Soup. It's a soup you seldom see in Chinese restaurants anymore. China Delights is a large spacious restaurant. Lots of round tables for groups. It could probably handle a Chinese banquet. So I ordered the won ton soup and an order of fried chicken wings. My big bowl of soup arrives, and it has chunks of imitation crab in it. Look, I understand everyone has their own recipe, but I don't want pieces of processed seafood in my won ton soup. Also, this isn't wor won ton soup, because there's nothing else added to it. It was just fried won tons, egg drop soup, and the "fake crab" meat. It doesn't alter the flavor of the soup. It was actually good soup, but I didn't like the fake crab meat. Grade (3/5). The fried chicken wings were super crispy and delicious! (5/5). Service was okay. The older lady who served me came over and chatted about the restaurant. Seems they also own Peking Delights in San Ramon. She told me her customers like won ton soup with imitation crab meat in it. So be aware, you might get something in your soup that's not on the menu. Lots of free parking.

It was near 5pm, and the dining room was empty. They said most of the orders were for takeout and delivery. So I was seated right away, and they offered me hot tea. So I ordered the Hung Tao Yee Won Ton Soup, and also "Salt 'n Pepper Prawns" as listed under House Specialties on their menu. For $15.95, it's a huge bowl of soup. It could be enough for 2-3 people. Hung Tao Yee Won Ton Soup is fried won ton in thicken egg drop soup. I added pepper and a splash of soy sauce, and it was perfect. Grade (4/5). However, the Salt 'n Pepper Prawns were not perfect. They were served deep fried, with jalapeño pepper slices. I asked for "in-shell." So they were deep fried with the shell still on. That usually means they'll have more flavor. These prawns were mushy and had a slightly fishy aftertaste. This suggests that they were frozen and not fresh. China House didn't season them enough to mask the off-taste. Other restaurants add a coarse salt and maybe a dipping sauce. The batter coating tasted fine, but the prawn itself wasn't good. Grade (2/5). Service was prompt and attentive. Hidden gem in El Sobrante that serves up some of the best Laotian and Thai food in the Bay Area…read more Every time we visit, must-orders are the Nam Khao (crispy rice ball salad with fermented pork sausage and fresh herbs) and Ka Soy (Laotian noodle soup). If you see Nam Khao on the menu of a Laotian/Thai restaurant, that means they know what they are doing just because it's so labor-intensive to make a salad(!) and the fermented pork has to be damn-near perfect for this salad to really shine and round out the fresh herbs and seasonings which includes lime juice, vinegar, and fish sauce. Ka Soy (the noodle soup) is a comfort food enjoyed in Southeast Asia. It's not the Thai-style where it's a curry broth and the noodles are fried, so let's not get it mixed up. Instead, it's bone broth that been simmered for hours and it's somewhat a lighter broth. The noodles are wide rice noodles in a big bowl of hot broth served with a mixture of ground pork cooked down with tomatoes along with fresh bean sprouts, scallions, and cilantro - simply a divine noodle soup that a must-try. It's not overly complex in terms of flavor, but it's a bowl of good ol' noodle soup that is comforting and great-tasting. If you haven't tried Laotian food, give Sue's Kitchen a try. try some new flavors and you may just become a regular (if you aren't already). The owners are friendly too! Wow Rodeo! I apologize in advance for this review. This beloved family spot was a "one and done"…read morefor me. Let's start with the great part: Mama Happy Wok has great personality and seemed delighted to take the call for my takeout lunch order at 1:30pm on a FriYAY. I didn't realize they closed at 2pm but I was 10 minutes away and knew I'd make it in time. Coo! Walking in the restaurant I began to second guess myself for placing a large order on my first visit to HW. Like other Yelpers have mentioned, customers are immediately greeted by a cordoned off dining room with space to pick up and go. The atmosphere is dark and cluttered with the stench of "vintageness" (yep... I made that up). Mama HW promptly appeared from the kitchen with a bright, smiley face reminding me the restaurant closes at 2pm. I appreciated her energy and that my food was ready. Paying with ApplePay was great but the trip through the maze of tables and behind the back counter to "Tap 'n Pay" meant a behind the scenes voyage that reminded me how conflicted I was about ordering here. Too late to turn back now. $95 and out the door I went. The bad part: as I opened the containers I knew immediately that my instinct was spot on. While thoughtfully and beautifully packed in foil-lined containers, the food reeked of old grease. I ordered shrimp chow fun, salt & pepper fish filets, chicken fried rice, green beans & beef and wor wonton soup. One bite of the shrimp chow fun and salt & pepper fish filet was all I could eat. The chow fun was all clumped together and lacked flavor while the shrimp were not fresh , flavorless and over cooked. The fish was fried in old grease that had the distinctive odor of other old food. The jalapeños were sliced too thick, undercooked and lacked any flavor as well. Enough said... When the longtime Rodeo resident with whom I was visiting said they'd never been to HW, it all made sense. I'm hoping this was a one off and others have a great experience 'cuz I'm rooting for this small family business. This just wasn't their best work (hopefully).
