Back at Sugar Toof in Hercules, and the new additions gave me another reason to love this spot! This time I tried the Campfire Tart and Triple Chocolate Cake, and both were amazing. The Campfire Tart has that beautifully toasted topping that immediately catches your eye, while the Triple Chocolate Cake shows off layers of cake and chocolate filling. They tasted just as good as they looked--two additions I'm happy I tried. Service was exceptional, as always. That consistency keeps me coming back, and I love seeing new food and drink options available alongside the sweets. The Halloween decorations were a cute touch, too. Can you believe it's my first time visiting Sugar Toof?! Now, I've had their desserts before because my sister always order cakes from them and purchases their sweets almost every week lol. However, it was my first time stopping by in person. Zach, the cashier, is super welcoming and personable! I told him it was my first time there and he had a lot of recommendations for me and really took the time to converse and figure out what items I might enjoy. There were so many things I wanted to try, but I opted for the banana pudding, chicken and beef empanadas, and a banana matcha! They have a lot of unique flavors on the menu for their matchas and iced coffee. Their crab pasta and pork belly sounds really good, so I'd definitely like to try that next time, along with their iced coffees! The customer service from Zach was amazing he was super helpful and just a great person overall. I used to come here months back every-time I had to do a food delivery for MOW's when I worked for them. I would do drop off for my clients and I found this place one time looking for a bathroom. I thought I had left a review months back and I saw I didn't. The lady who helped me months back was so sweet. I would always come in so she gave me a free cupcake to try once. Okay seriously?! The chicken and beef empanadas are absolutely incredible. They're almost like a croissant - buttery, flaky, and perfectly layered, yet somehow sturdy enough to hold all of the amazing filling inside! Arrived just as they opened. They are located in a shopping plaza in a shared parking lot. Place is clean, with great music, and plenty of indoor seating. The employees were friendly, nice and patient with me as I browsed, took photos and looked at merch. I ordered several items including an iced matcha nana, beef and veggie empanadas, a corned beef bun, a Nutella turnover, a banana pudding and a tomato feta pastry. Everything was presented beautifully. I didn't have to wait long for my items. Service was quick! The iced matcha nana was very light. Barely tasted the matcha or the banana. It looked pretty but the flavor wasn't there. The beef empanadas were delicious! They were perfectly flaky and the beef was seasoned well. It paired nicely with their green sauce which was bright and provided some acidity- worked great together! I would totally come back for this. I haven't tried the other items yet, but overall, i think it's worth checking out and I would come back to try their other drinks. read more

For the price and portion you are better off making it at home or buying elsewhere. It was $16 and an abomination. It was trying to be all fancy and dressed up but fell flat. Honestly, I couldn't stop eating it Caramel cupcake: Delicious it reminded me of a cake that we used to get for my grandma on birthdays.. Mango caramel cupcake: Mango is typically my go to and the lady who was helping me said it was her favorite. Sadly this was a let down the cupcake was soft but I didn't really taste the mango. Dubai chocolate cupcake: I enjoyed the filling throughout the cupcake. It made the chocolate cupcake less dry. Buttercream a little hard. Ube caramel cupcake: Deliciously soft and flavorful. Cream on top was soft with the sweet caramel. Beef empanada: Meaty and flaky pastry. One of the first empanadas in a long time that wasn't mostly potatoes, peas,carrots, and raisins. It was nothing but beef. Chicken empanada: Meaty and flaky pastry. Ube tiramisu latte: This was more coffee than ube. Even after stirring I mostly tasted coffee with a hint of coconut. I'm not sure where the tiramisu flavor is. The picture made it look cool but what I got didn't look like the picture. This place is a hidden gem. I came here on a Sunday right before closing. The ladies were nice that helped me. Everything was so good I can't wait to come back. Upon looking at the website more after visiting, I believe they either worked or owned Sunflower Bakery. I explained to Kate that my daughter didn't have a theme but had a color scheme, and that her preference for decoration was elegant yet minimalist. I showed her the invitation and left it up to her. Man, I really hate to give bad reviews, but I really feel it's my duty to let others know about my experience with the food and desserts from Sugar Toof. It was a Thursday afternoon, and I remembered seeing their empanadas on Instagram. I was very excited get it. We ordered their Chicken, their Beef and their Vegetable empanada. First off, the outer shell of the empanada was ok. I kind of expected it to be less flaky. Maybe others like it flaky, but it just wasn't for me. The chicken was very dry. The Beef didn't have much filling. And the Vegetable, I don't know what to say about it. It wasn't anything special. The one thing that really disappointed me was their "Dubai Cupcake". I have to strongly not recommended this at all. If you know Dubai Chocolate items, they usually have kataifi inside. First bite into it, something didn't seem right. I opened the cupcake more and noticed the kataifi was raw. It was not crispy, it was not toasted, it was just like raw dough. It didn't even seem to have the pistachio cream. I was very disappointed in this and just threw the rest after taking a picture of it to warn others. Granted, maybe that Thursday they somehow forgot to toast the kataifi, but that really messed things up for me. The one thing that was ok was the Carmel Cupcake. But I wouldn't make a trip out here just for their Carmel cupcake. I wish this place luck, but I will not be returning. read more

Heard about this new cafe from Nextdoor.com, and we decided to check it out when we were in the area. Sugar Toof is a very clean and cozy cafe, with many Ube specialty drinks and desserts. We ordered a halo halo, Ube tiramisu latte, matcha strawberry latte, bunko pandan panna cotta, Ube tres leches cupcake, and an empanada. I have tried other places with Ube drinks/desserts and sometimes I find the Ube flavor lacking or too weak, but not here. My Ube tiramisu latte had good Ube flavor and is just right amount of sweetness for me. The same for the other drinks and desserts. All were satisfying in flavor and sweetness. Even the savory empanada tasted good and fresh. The halo halo had a good mix of ice cream with the other ingredients like fruit jellies, sweetened beans, etc. It is certainly rich but not overwhelming. The only critic I have was that the pandan panna cotta was a little too firm for my liking. I prefer the Italian version which is softer.
