Came in to try their ube cheesecake bites and I am definitely not disappointed. I heard this location was the best one, so I didnt really bother to go for the SJ location and would rather drive all the way to Mountain View instead for quality. The place is small and cute, and the workers are so sweet and patient. Would love to come next time and try their drinks!!! But yeah the ube cheesecake... 10/10, I could prob eat like 20 of those in one sitting.
If you are craving for sugar, you are in the right place! I mostly don't prefer to consume this much sugar on my drink but sometimes... You know ?? I don't know why but teashops prepare the drinks very slowly. Not this one !! They were very quick. Inside of the shop is very tiny, but cool. They are ube experts. Next time I will choose any other drink that consumes less sugar and will try their desserts!
I believe Cafe 86 is a Filipino dessert / coffee shop, with Ube as the central theme. I was not familiar with them, however my Filipino mate spoke highly of them. So I had to scope it out... Very, very good! Be mindful, if you get a bit too curious it adds up. This venue is cozy, not a lot of seats inside, mostly standing room and a few bar seats. Parking in downtown MV is a bit a bit challenging at peak times, so you might have to make a bit of a walk. Two young gals were running this place, sounded like they were enjoying their time here. Both of them were quick and efficient...Kudos gals! #UbeTreats Halo Halo: Upside Down Halo Halo - 4.5/5 I'm not sure what an upside down Halo Halo is as opposed to a right side up... lol. Guess I'm not sure what a Halo Halo is supposed to look like...I thought it was just a mix of ingredients and meant mix mix in Tagalog, either way, this was fantastic. Good Ube flavor with several so many treats: Coconut Jellies, Jack Fruit and Boba topped off with Corn Flakes, Ice Cream and Flan. Delish! ~ Baked Goods: Ube Tres Leches - 5/5 Filipino spin on Tres Leches. Ube Cake at the base soaked in some sort of Ube milk and topped off with Ube whipped cream! This was straight Ube on Ube. Good Ube flavor, yet not too sweet. ~ Baked Goods: Ube Leche Flan Cupcake - 4/5 Moist Ube cupcake topped with rich and creamy Leche Flan. Rich, but not sweet. ~ Baked Goods: Halo Halo Bread Pudding - 4/5 This is dense and heavy, so be weary. Ube flavored Bread Pudding with pieces of Jackfruit and shredded Coconut on top served with a scoop of Ube Ice Cream. ~ Milkshakes: Ube Monster - 4/5 Just a solid Ube milkshake. Rich and creamy Ube flavor, but not too sweet. The crushed Oreos give it a nice contrasting texture. So much Ube, so little time!
I have been seeing this bakery for the longest, but never went in. But today was the day & they'll definitely be seeing me more often. First walked in and was greeted by a girl with short hair wearing a hat, told her it was my first time and asked for recommendations, she went through the menu with me and suggested some popular items, very nice and patient. I went with the house milk tea and two ube cookies. It was made fast and I was in and out less than 10 minutes. House milk tea has a sea salted caramel I believe, it's salty and sweet on its own but when mixed in with the tea it is super delicious! However, the added boba itself is a little bit on the harder side. Now my favorite though was the ube cookies, FIYAHHHHHHHH. Sweet but not overly sweet, soft but not overly soft, perfect chew to it. I want a dozen right now! Overall, cute little spot, good service and good snacks.
The upside down halo halo is sooooo gooood. It's one of my favorite halo halo creations out there. Highly recommend subbing the vanilla ice cream for the ube ice cream!
Amazing customer service and delicious drinks! I've only tried this spot in LA and was so happy when I found out they have it here in NorCal and been meaning to try this location. The taste is the same and I love that it's consistent. Parking: Street parking but there's a free parking lot nearby that you can park and walk a few minutes to the store. I always get the upside down halo halo and it's my favorite! I've tried the normal halo halo but prefer the upside down one (the purple base one). Service: Quick and the girl working was so sweet!
We just finished dinner with some friends and since they had never been to Cafe 86. We thought we would introduce them to this place. The cashier was very friendly, helpful, and sweet! She explained what certain things were in the display case and just made our experience more wonderful. We told our friends to get the upside down halo halo. One liked it, the other liked parts of the drink. We also tried the Ube Butter Bar. It was creamy, thick, and had a good bottom crust. First time trying it and I would get it again! The Ube Crinkle Cookies are good also!
One of our favorite dessert spots in Mountain View! The upside down halo halo holds a special place in my heart. We get it without langka (jackfruit) only bc my husband is allergic. The ube ice cream is so delicious. We usually mix it all together but tonight we decided to eat the ice cream and cereal first. Such a yummy treat! The front staff were so nice. The online ordering system is so great. I sent these photos to my Filipino family and friends; they are so culturally proud and said this looks delicious! I would love to try the Mais Con Yelo next time.
We stopped by here to try their cheesecake, and while we were there, we also decided to try the flan. All treats here are ube-flavored. Both the cheesecake and flan tasted good. We didn't try any drinks, but they do have a good selection of teas and coffee. The staff was very friendly. The interior looked trendy, but the seating is pretty sparse. Stop by here if you like Ube-flavored sweet treats.
After hearing about the hype, we finally came to try it out. My wife and I came yesterday during noon time and ordered an Ube cupcake topped with flan and two halo-halos. I'm glad we have a Filipino dessert place here in Mountain View now! It's a modern take on traditional Filipino sweet treats. There's not much seating so be prepared to either grab and go or find a seat against the wall which most likely you'll find one. The flan and Ube cupcake is decent tasting. I thought the flan was excellent and has that taste I love and reminds me of my mom's. The cupcake itself is dense and pretty dry. I'm not because it's inside a cold fridge? But it's pretty dry with a chalky texture. I don't care about it. The upside halo halo is delicious. Out of the two, this is my personal favorite because it's Ube dominant. I like the simplicity of corn flakes and jellies inside. I do however, wish there were red beans but either way is fine! The regular halo halo is brown sugar dominant and to me, tastes like a regular brown sugar milk tea. I'd definitely come back and try more! But for sure, the upside halo-halo is a must. If you're new to this place, order that!
Ube Overload. Went here for dessert with my hubby and brother in law. We got the ube truffle and the lech flan cupcake thing and their special ube donut pumpkin? I also got the halo halo. I couldn't finish the halo halo since it's so sweet. Too much corn flakes.
The Ube butter bar was fantastic! The flavor was light, which meant it wasn't too sweet. It was extremely buttery that it melts in your mouth.
I was brought to Cafe 86 after lunch to try their ube desserts, and it felt like stepping into an ube dream world! This cafe is all things ube, and with so many tempting options, it was impossible to pick just one or two. So, we went all in and ordered a bunch which totaled $31. Everything was pretty good, but because the desserts were quite rich, I only had a bite of each. The sweetness wasn't overwhelming luckily; just enough to satisfy a sweet tooth without being too much, even for those sensitive to sweets. Here's how I'd rank my favorites: 1. Ube Cookie: Soft, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. 2. Ube Truffle: Decadent, and packed with rich ube goodness. 3. Ube Monster Milkshake: Mix it before drinking. A bit heavy, I could only finish half of the mini. 4. Ube Butter Bar: Dense, rich, and satisfyingly sweet. 5. Ube Brownie: A bit too sweet, but nice balance of chocolate and ube. 6. Ube Leche Flan Cupcake: ok but I'm not a flan person The service was great, and I definitely plan to come back to try more. It's a unique dessert spot--perfect for those who love ube or are looking to try something new!
I can finally get my Ube fix virtually any time I want! So glad Cafe 86 decided to set up shop here in Mountain View. I stopped by for the first time yesterday and went off! My take? One each of the Truffle, Crack Cheesecake, Butter Bar, Crinkle, and Turon Pop Tart? Verdict? All are very good and satisfied my craving. Next up? Their Upside Down Halo Halo! Welcome to Da Hood, Cafe 86! read more

This cafe specializes in Filipino themed drink and desserts, especially ube flavored. they have an extensive list of coffee, tea, and milkshakes. we got the signature ube flan cupcake and the churrochi (churro mochi) with vanilla ice cream. the cupcake was good but a little hard to eat. the mochi was crispy, warm, and delicious with the ice cream. read more
New Cafe 86 spot in downtown Mountain View! Love how they are expanding with more locations. It's kinda small spot with very limited seats. They have a digital menu that changes by the second. For some reason, I always seem to find myself ordering the upside halo halo. I need to venture out and try their other items too! The upside halo halo is very well made. A lot going on in the cup. From cereal bits, jellies, ice cream! Yumm. Service was was fairly quick. read more

It was an ok experience. Wanted to try the Ube tres leches but they were out again . Tried the Uber cheesecake and it was mid, I've flavor wasn't really there so it just tased like a cheesecake. Cookie Butter latte was alright too nothing crazy . Service was fast and easy. read more
Cafe 86, a Filipino dessert joint with SO many ube options. It's hard to narrow down which dessert to pick. I ended up with a cupcake and halo halo! This place does it different. They add corn flakes in the halo halo! The flan here is really good. I love the use ice cream too! I just really enjoy ube. read more
I'll try anything Ube and when we came across this place, I knew I had to try it. We ordered a latte, ube crinkle cookie, ube tres leches and flan cupcake. The flan cupcake was our least favorite and we will skip it next time. (Which means we will come back to try other things on their menu) Our favorite was the Ube tres leches. So very yummy!! It wasn't too sweet. Going to get this every single time! The store itself is so cramped. There's barely space for 10 people. But it's good for a quick bite. Our server was probably pre-occupied because he kept forgetting our order. Gonna try the Union City location next. read more
Cute cafe! We loved the upside down halo halo. There was vanilla ice cream and flan on top with a bunch of toppings at the bottom. Everything in there was delicious and not too sweet but the boba was kind of mushy. The ube cookies were good but pretty pricey just over $4 per cookie and they weren't very big. The service was fast, we got our order within 5 mins. We also got a free hibiscus tea for buying 4 of the same dessert. read more
Came here after lunch on Castro St., specifically for their ube desserts. They definitely didn't disappoint. Had a couple of bobas as well. The seating area is a little small. Everything was so yummy. prices are reasonable and the service was great. We'd come back. read more
Been dying to try this and good thing they opened one close to my work! Had to try their popular items! Ube leche flan cupcake was good, cupcake was moist, leche flan was creamy! Perfect combo! Ube crack cheesecake - as a cheesecake enthusiast, this one was gooood! Crust is cracker based which gave a little hint of saltiness pairing well with the sweetness and richness of the cheesecake. Ube tres leches - my favorite of the three! Moist, creamy, flavorful! A little too artificial tasting but as a baker myself, it's hard to give that natural ube flavor. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and I'm ready to try more! read more
The ube tres leches was good, soft, exactly how it should be. The frosting felt a bit suggery, but the crispy cashews on top were the best part of it. The service was pretty quick and has few high tables for you to hang out. read more

One of my faves in San Diego/Chula Vista when I was living there and continuing to be one of my faves now that I'm back in the Bay Area. Glad to know they've opened 2 locations in the Bay Area. Ube Lovers! They got it all! Their specialty is the ube deserts! I love and recommend the ube crack cheesecake, ube butter bar and ube leche flan cupcake! Drinks! They got ya covered! Top 3 for me: -Dragonberry Calamansi Cooler -Jasmine Calamansi -Hibiscus Calamansi Friendly staff, nicely decorated waiting area. read more

so glad that a closer location has opened up near me! on a hot day, i've always really enjoyed the strawberry calamansi, it is on the sweeter side but it's super refreshing if you're craving something fruity. the upside down halo halo is also a great choice if you're craving ube! they have options from teas to smoothies to delicious pastries. i would highly recommend visiting. read more

If you want your sweet cravings to be satisfied, I highly recommend you pay Cafe 86 a visit! I usually order the Upside Down Halo Halo, Ube Monster Milkshake, or Churrochies (with ube ice cream). The Upside Down Halo Halo (5/5) is slightly different from the traditional Filipino Halo Halo since extra ingredients, such as corn flakes and boba, are added. Overall, I find myself enjoying the Upside Down Halo Halo every time I order it. I've had the Ube Monster Milkshake (4/5) a total of two times, but I enjoyed the drink most when I had it for the first time. The first time I tried it, the ube flavor was prominent and the consistency of the milkshake was perfectly creamy. The second time I ordered the milkshake, the ube flavor wasn't as strong and the milkshake tasted more like a slushy. I will post an update the next time I order the milkshake! The Churrochies (5/5) is probably my favorite item from the menu as of right now. The ube ice cream is not included in the order, and it costs an additional $3. The Churrochies were perfectly crispy and perfectly coated in cinnamon and sugar, and the caramel drizzle on the Churrochies was the cherry on top. The service here is great! I find it more convenient to place a mobile order because I don't have to wait in a line when I arrive. The place is on the cozier side and doesn't have as many seats, but the place doesn't feel stuffy at all. Cafe 86 is located in Downtown Mountain View, so it can be challenging to find parking (especially on the weekends). read more

Stopped by for dessert after dinner in downtown Mountain View! I got the ube flan cupcake and the milo milk tea, and my friend got the halo halo which I got to try a few bites of. The ube flan cupcake was great!!! The cake is quite dense, has good ube flavor, and the flan is so creamy. I wasn't super wowed by the milo milk tea... maybe because I ordered it half sweet, I couldn't really taste any milo- but the tea flavor was good! My friend's halo halo was yummy, a little non traditional though maybe? It had a brown sugar base that tasted more like butterscotch to us, but still very yummy!! Cute vibe inside and the service is super friendly. Would love to come back and try their other desserts :) read more
I am seriously happy there's an ube cafe in the Bay Area! Their calamansi drinks are very refreshing and not super sugary at all, which is perfect. I love all the ube desserts they have! I would have to say the Ube butter bar is definitely one of my favorites. I can't wait to come back and try more. read more

So so happy that there's finally a location near us! Last time we went to one, we had to drive down to LA. Ordered the ube milkshake and flan and both were pretty good. My husband loves the flan cupcake so we knew going in that it was going to be good. The milkshake was alright, but a little icy. I definitely want to go back and try some of their other beverages (especially the cookie butter latte). read more

If you're looking for ube everything, this place is for you! They have ube milkshakes, teas, coffees, and baked goods! The staff is very helpful and shared the top sellers, including the Upside Down Halo Halo, which puts an ube spin on the traditional Filipino dessert. I especially loved the crunch that the cereal added. For a non-dairy option, you can also choose from a selection of iced teas. I got the strawberry calamansi, which was refreshing and tasted like lemonade, thanks to calamansi being the Philippine lemon/lime. There are tons of ube baked dessert options too! I tried the ube crack cheesecake, which was the perfect size with its rich taste. I already have my eye on the ube crinkle cookie for next time. You might want to take your goodies to go since there isn't a ton of indoor seating but the brick wall makes for an Instagram-worthy backdrop. read more
Love the unique drinks and desserts they offer here! I had to try their yummy looking halo halo. They have 2 options- regular and upside down. According to staff, the upside down is more popular. The difference is the regular has more of the brown sugar base and upside down is more ube based. Surprisingly, it wasn't too overly sweet but I do think the cup size doesn't necessarily have to be that big. You have the toppings on the top and bottom but then in the middle there is kind too much empty space. I also had their sea salt crema coffee which was just good in general. Would love to go back and try their dessert items! read more

I'm surprised I haven't been here yet as I am Filipino, but it did not disappoint. It's a nice little spot in Mountain View to stop by for a treat if you're in the area. Ordered the leche flan cupcake and an ube tres leches. Both desserts were well done, next time I definitely want to try the ube crack cheesecake or halo halo! read more

Came here since found out they had a little closer location. Parking is hard if you go on a weekend that's busy but nonetheless you can find parking on the street on behind the buildings or around the area if you don't mind walking. I ordered 2 milo cupcakes and a chocolate coffee crunch cup. When I ordered the cupcakes I pointed at them but clearly that wasn't enough for the young guy working at the register since he thought I ordered 2 milo milk teas?? I was wondering what was taking long and then when they gave me the drink I said I ordered cupcakes and not drinks and the young man thought I wanted to do another other like what?? I didn't order milk tea in the first place. I told him when I ordered I pointed at the cupcakes but he didn't know what to do and wanted me to just pay more for another order. The older lady got involved and was understanding and gave me a refund. I'm not sure if they really know English but the lady was nice and understanding but the young guy he needs to work on his customer service or something. Probably won't come here again since that whole thing, haven't experienced that at any of the other locations before. But other than that it's small inside you can sit in like a high bar table they have but it's pretty warm in there. read more
Cute little location that's across SuperHot. I initially came during their first opened weekend. The Upside Down Halo Halo and Ube Leche Flan cupcakes did not disappoint. They were both so delicious I definitely plan to come back. The Ube Leche Flan was a bit more expensive than I expected, so I probably won't order so many at once lol. read more

We tried the Ube latte and the sea salt cold brew (cold brew w/ sea salt cream). Since they use Ube syrup for flavoring, Ube latte can't be 0 sugar. The staff kindly offered to reduce the Ube syrup by half. The Ube flavor was still very strong, which I like. Towards the end it was still a bit too sweet for me, but otherwise a great drink! Sea salt cold brew got good reviews too. A bit pricey but reasonable given its location. read more
So happy they open a location in downtown Mountain View. I have visited other locations but this is a few blocks from my work so I'll be stopping buy a lot more. My go to favorite is the ube cupcake with flan and of course halo halo. read more
We saw this a long time ago when we were in the area, and we were excited to get an Cafe 86 here! We finally came here after I saw that it was open on Yelp. It was a little hard to find parking, and unfortunately we didn't see any 86s. The store is a little small, with just a few bar stools for seating. We got the Halo Halo, the Ube Tres Leches, and the Ube Crack Cheesecake. The Halo Halo was a little interesting, with the ice seemingly flavored by caramelized / boiled condensed milk. The boba was okay since it didn't have much flavor, but the texture was good. Everything else was as expected. I don't know if I would get this again, but I would try the upside down one next time. We saved the tres leches and cheesecake to enjoy the next day. The cheesecake was amazing, I think it was one of the best cheesecakes I've ever had. There was a good amount of ube flavor, and it was nice and soft and creamy. I think this is a must-get and it would be hard for me to not get this every time I come here. The tres leches was decent. I thought it was interesting that the frosting on top tasted like it had some real ube in there instead of just being frosting, kind of like the taro filling in taro cakes. The cake itself was not very soaked, and only the edges were soaked, though I'm not sure if waiting until the next day affected this. Overall, I think the desserts were decent, but the cheesecake was terrific. I would come here again to try everything else on their menu! read more
Craving some dessert in downtown Mountain View around 9pm, and found one of few places still open. Decided to pop inside to try their Ube dessert. Thought overall it was okay; ordered their flan cupcake and tres leches. The flan tasted quite stale and not fresh, so wouldn't recommend, but the tres leches was overall pretty tasty. The service was nice and the restaurant is small, but a few seats where you could sit inside. Overall not bad, but probably wouldn't come back. read more
