Verde Tea Cafe is a very lowkey and affordable drink store in downtown Mountain View. Their drinks selection are huge, it got almost every boba flavor you could think of, iced or hot. The store is small and cozy but still got free wifi and some tables to sit and study. Also appreciate that they even got Chinese savory snacks like popcorn chicken, fried fish balls or fried chicken wings etc! Overall, a solid spot. Highly recommend checking them out, you couldn't find anywhere cheaper than this. read more

This place looks just like it did ten years ago when I used to frequent this place! The menu looks slightly different but the tables and chairs and ambiance is the same and it felt like transcending back in time. I wanted to get their pearl milk tea like back in the day they didn't have this specifically on the menu so I had to recreate it. The one I enjoyed a while ago had a distinct taste and was so frothy. I got the Jasmine green milk tea with boba and pudding and it didn't taste like old times. It's not bad, but just not how I remembered. Still good for the price and memories though! read more

Easy experience at this cafe! They specialize in a lot of drinks from boba, smoothies, and coffee. I got an iced hazelnut coffee since I needed a caffeine recharge. I ordered off their iPad and it was a quick and easy. Took about 5 minutes for my order to be ready since it was early around 2 pm. Nice interior with a dim atmosphere! It's been a very long time since I have been here. It's still the same. Just a different owner. But it's still very good. Just the prices are much higher than in 2007. Twice as expensive. No boba at all when I got my order. Didn't realize till much later. Very deceiving. It's obvious that I didn't know as it was the first time since I have had a boba. I've been coming to this location since my middle school days, and I still love their popcorn chicken and fried squid! They make it so hot and fresh, and the kiosk ordering makes it very easy to see all the options and adjust the spiciness. I've seen the same worker every time--might be a local mom n pop's shop, for which I'm happy to support! Their drinks are your pretty standard quick boba shop pit stop level, not a craft tea like Chicha or Molly. Regardless, they have lots of options, and I love their grapefruit juice. Not into boba, but I am into Verde!! Got a simple iced mocha (50% sweetness was just right) and taiwan thick toast (butter), and it was delish, with a light crunch! Nice lil meal to start my Sunday (yes, at noon), and the perfect pick-me-up to prepare for the rest of my day. Cash only at the register, but you can use the self order kiosks at the front counter to pay by credit card. The place was empty, and only one other patron came by while I was there (though street parking was tough on this Sunday). Good amount of indoor seating, outlets by the tables, super convenient for charging laptops/phones. Service was great, and the kiosk quoted me a 15 minute wait for my order, but it was served to me at my table in less than 10 minutes. Used to have one in Cupertino when I went to high school but I think the one in mountain view is the only location left. It's one of the best boba and snacks for the price. I usually get the cuttlefish ball and popcorn chicken, glad that they have the option in this location too. They also have the mini bobas in this location which I can't find anywhere else. read more

I tried adding taro chunks to my taro milk tea for the first time and it was a great decision. The taro chunks had the perfect amount of sweetness and took the drink to another level. The taro milk tea is on the sweeter side itself so if you're not someone who likes your drinks that sweet I'd recommend adjusting the sweetness level lower. read more

Family has been going here since 1999. It is the OG boba place. Great consistency, great drinks. I could see it being underrated by new gen boba drinkers that aren't as used to authentic boba. Milk teas are great, boba is great, I recommend getting your drink 50 percent sweet. read more

Verde is the OG of bubble tea! I've been going to this place for ~30 years, since the mid-90s back in college! Despite ownership changes, they've somehow managed to retain the original recipe. I've literally tried every bubble tea chain in the Bay Area since then (and I drink bubble tea at least 4x/week), and this place does the classic milk teas the best! Another pro is that their prices haven't kept up with inflation. Honestly, one of the oldest places for boba that I know. As more and more places open up, each with their own artisinal twist and gimmick, it's nice to know that Verde is still around to keep things chill. I paid $15 for a large hot oolong milk tea and an order of popcorn chicken. Honestly, in this day and age, this price is pretty good. They have a pretty spacious seating area for people to post up and hang out at. I was doing some work, and there was a duo next to me playing chess. I find this very refreshing as most boba places closed off their seating during the pandemic and made it into storage areas. It's nice to be able to sit in the boba shop to just hang. The hot oolong milk tea was good. The popcorn chicken was okay. I like the crispiness of the exterior, but I think that because the size of the chicken was kind of smaller, the longer frying for the exterior made some of the pieces a little dry. I think this might be the last verde milk tea in the bay area, which makes this cafe very special to me. I remember going to the Verde in Cupertino before it turned into a supercue , then a tiger sugar. My verde go-to would always be the mint milk tea! It is hands down the best! Now I know Verde is first and foremost a boba shop, but honestly their smoothies are being slept on. Ordered the Summer Love smoothie that is essentially a banana, peach, mango, passionfruit(?), strawberry(?) smoothie. While other tea places tend to just throw in some syrup or ice cream and put it in a blender, Verde uses real ingredients which is reflected in the quality of smoothie they are putting out. If you haven't tried this on their menu yet, would highly recommend it :) Also, they have online ordering too which makes it quite convenient if you are in a rush! read more

For 20 years I've tried dozens of boba shops around the bay area as they came and went. At the end of the day I keep coming back to Verde. Verde has the most "classic" take on pearl milk tea and is reminiscent of what you might find in a Taipei night market. It's a little on the milky and sweet side. Not as bitter and floral as what premium milk tea shops sell. Not as sweet as the insanely sugary/syrupy offerings of trendy new shops (and not as expensive either haha). I buy their decaf fruit tea all the time, everyday almost, and i just feel better and very satisfied each time I finish. It's a rewarding feeling. In addition, I am able to customize the drink in accordance to my desires and that is especially important when my kids keep wanting to drink fruit drinks all the time- can't be too sweet for them. Popped in to grab a cold drink during the heat wave. Not my top spot in MTV but other boba shops in the area weren't open around 11am on a Sunday. Got the jasmine green milk tea with pearl and it it the spot! 50% sugar wasn't crazy sweet and pearls had a good chewy texture. Bonus points for this COVID precautions. They only let one party in at a time. You're supposed to wait outside the door until the party before you exits. Just be assertive in telling guests behind you to stand 6 feet back. There is hand sanitizer at the counter. I used my own hand sanitizer spray on keypad when paying with credit card. All staff seemed to be wearing masks. Drinks are made pretty quickly after ordering! Being their long term customer is one of my best decisions because I cannot even find any place that has great peach tea. Only $1 for 3-4x boba compared to other places.
