I tried the black milk tea with boba at 30% and I thought it was pretty decent. Gong Cha needs to change the marketing strategy. Sending bonus emails like "10% off any drink" 20% off the second drink will not help. And "New Felix's Picks: Bobaccino! Buy 2 drinks & get a FREE Felix keychain! While supplies last." And when you get there, the keychain is out, that is not good. The drinks are not as good as when any Gong Cha store first came out the staff are 95% not happy and make bad drinks. Came here on my way back from a dentist appointment for a boba, and it was okay. I got a plain oolong (no milk, no sweeteners) with boba, and both the tea and the boba were decent, although the boba was definitely softer than I typically prefer. Not bad, but not standout. Perhaps their specialty is more flavored and sweetened drinks? The guy at the counter seemed a little bored and maybe even a little annoyed at my presence (nobody else was there at the time), but prepared my order in a timely manner. The interior was pleasantly decorated, but is small with very little indoor seating, so it seems this is set up more for to go drinks. There was a posterboard with some sort of collab in the shop as well. Overall, not bad, and if I was in the area and wanted boba this will do, but I am not particularly motivated to return just for Gong Cha. read more

I love Gong Cha, but unfortunately, the quality of the tea and boba at this location didn't meet the standards I've experienced at other locations. The boba was smaller, harder, and almost shrivelled, with a fairly bland taste. The tea also seemed more watered down than what I'm used to. It's located in a convenient complex with Whole Food and other restaurants. Parking could be crowded when you come during lunch/dinner time. This place is clean in a small interior with a couple tables. Service is good and got greeted as soon as we walked in. Got the Star Jelly Grapefruit Green Tea and the mochi waffle. The tea is just ok and the star jelly is peach flavor. The peach jelly doesn't taste that good together with the tea. I'd prefer the regular boba or the crystal boba with neutral flavors. In terms of the mochi waffle, there is no taste. I think the quality has gone down from before. It's a bit disappointing. read more

I was in the Santa Clara area and wanted to get a drink. Found out this Gong Cha was nearby and decided to order ahead and grab before heading home. Parking was busy on a weekend morning, but it wasn't too bad finding a spot nearby. This location is on the smaller side, with some seating situated farther inside. Once you walk in, there's the area to order and/or grab your drinks. Overall, it had the same cutesy vibe that most Gong Cha have - nicely decorated, but not over the top with knick knacks. As I had ordered ahead, I expected to go inside, grab my drink and leave like most other locations. There was someone ahead of me when I walked in, so I waited a few minutes for my turn. I made eye contact, looked around for my drink and waited since I didn't see my drink out. The staff continued to have a conversation with the customer ahead of me for quite some time - not acknowledging that I was waiting or anything. I am fine to wait when other customers are there, but a simple wave or "I'll be right with you" would go a long way in customer service. The customer ahead of me already had their drinks and was just catching up with the staff while I actually needed to pick up my drink. When I got to the counter, I told them my order number, got my drink and left. 1 star off for customer service and 1 star off for the flavor - while it was okay (my usual black sugar milk tea with boba); it seemed watery in flavor compared to other Gong Cha I've been to and the boba pearls were hard. Gong Cha was my favorite place to get boba when there was a location in Newark. It didn't last long tho. After dinner, we went here for boba. I had a gift card but apparently this location hasn't received the card reader. They tried to manually input the card number and when that didn't work, they said I could try scanning it on the kiosk. No luck. I tried downloading the app but did you know there are over three different Gong Cha Apps?? Have to download the California one specifically. It didn't accept gift card payment but I found enough points for a free drink. So it was basically BOGO since I treated a friend to boba. As soon as my order went through to the kitchen with a "ding", the employee presented us with our drinks already made! He had anticipated that we'd order no matter what. Gingerbread bottles + special milk teas are only $7! I've tried a few of their drinks but my go-to is their wintermelon with fresh milk. I've consumed a good amount to know what it's supposed to taste like. I always get 50% ice and 100% sweet (which is usually fixed). But this location has a different ratio. I could already tell just by the color that they added way more milk than they're supposed to. No tea flavor, just straight up milk. Which is disappointing. And for about $6 for a large size, I was hoping it would taste better. The place is small. Has like 2 tables and a bench. You can order via kiosk (they have two) or sometimes they'll take your order. There's parking in the front but if you go during lunch hour this plaza is packed from all the employees from nearby companies so it's best to park at the parking lot behind. Gong cha used to be our top favorite boba shop and would go out of our way for it but we barely come here now because the management sucks. And we're referring to the older Hispanic lady. Every time we THINK the service would improve, it doesn't. First, they're so cheap. When we get toppings, we pay at least 80cents for them, and what do we get? Less than 10 bobas - it's merely laughable. They also do these really cool promotions like keychains etc. yet, the manager refused to give them out! During our visit early today we mistakenly forgot to upgrade one of our drinks from a regular to a Large for the "Buy 2 large drinks for 1 keychain". We asked the manager if we can upgrade our drinks to a L for a keychain and she nodded. She nodded! So we paid for it. When given the drinks, we asked her where do we redeem for the keychain. Guess what? "Sorry, because your receipt doesn't show 2 large drinks, I cannot give it out." We were stunned. Not because of a keychain (bc we were going to gift it to one of our nieces anyways) but were stunned bc she took back her own words. This was a great reminder that we rather drive 15 mins away, for something much better elsewhere. Do better. Hire better. read more

I have not had their cream foam series in a while so decided to try the Wintermelon milk tea foam. Did not like it, it tasted like a brown sugar syrup. I talked to the woman who helped me and voiced out my opinion about and just agreed with me. Another woman came up who I believe works there too but on her break asked me about my concerns then she happily explained more about different drinks and how this drink does not have any tea and that explains why It taste odd to me. Super cute boba shop, however when I went there was a small line at Saturday afternoon and only two workers, one at the register and one making drinks so it took like 15 minutes to get our drinks. I tried a new drink this time the mango marble 70% sweet 50% ice and I have to say it was really unique and very strong in mango syrup or marmalade flavor, I think I could have gotten away with 50% sweet or less. Make sure you mix or shake this before sipping because it's very very sweet and you'll probably sip only syrup on the first sip. I bet the mango smoothie is good too. Other than that it's creamy, toasty from the brulee'd topping, and has that nostalgic taste of a strawberry snow bubble (if you know you know). I plan on ordering this drink again!
