    ube cheesecake
    Abigail M.

Came in to try their ube cheesecake bites and I am definitely not disappointed. I heard this location was the best one, so I didnt really bother to go for the SJ location and would rather drive all the way to Mountain View instead for quality. The place is small and cute, and the workers are so sweet and patient. Would love to come next time and try their drinks!!! But yeah the ube cheesecake... 10/10, I could prob eat like 20 of those in one sitting.

If you are craving for sugar, you are in the right place! I mostly don't prefer to consume this much sugar on my drink but sometimes... You know ?? I don't know why but teashops prepare the drinks very slowly. Not this one !! They were very quick. Inside of the shop is very tiny, but cool. They are ube experts. Next time I will choose any other drink that consumes less sugar and will try their desserts!

I believe Cafe 86 is a Filipino dessert / coffee shop, with Ube as the central theme. I was not familiar with them, however my Filipino mate spoke highly of them. So I had to scope it out... Very, very good! Be mindful, if you get a bit too curious it adds up. This venue is cozy, not a lot of seats inside, mostly standing room and a few bar seats. Parking in downtown MV is a bit a bit challenging at peak times, so you might have to make a bit of a walk. Two young gals were running this place, sounded like they were enjoying their time here. Both of them were quick and efficient...Kudos gals! #UbeTreats Halo Halo: Upside Down Halo Halo - 4.5/5 I'm not sure what an upside down Halo Halo is as opposed to a right side up... lol. Guess I'm not sure what a Halo Halo is supposed to look like...I thought it was just a mix of ingredients and meant mix mix in Tagalog, either way, this was fantastic. Good Ube flavor with several so many treats: Coconut Jellies, Jack Fruit and Boba topped off with Corn Flakes, Ice Cream and Flan. Delish! ~ Baked Goods: Ube Tres Leches - 5/5 Filipino spin on Tres Leches. Ube Cake at the base soaked in some sort of Ube milk and topped off with Ube whipped cream! This was straight Ube on Ube. Good Ube flavor, yet not too sweet. ~ Baked Goods: Ube Leche Flan Cupcake - 4/5 Moist Ube cupcake topped with rich and creamy Leche Flan. Rich, but not sweet. ~ Baked Goods: Halo Halo Bread Pudding - 4/5 This is dense and heavy, so be weary. Ube flavored Bread Pudding with pieces of Jackfruit and shredded Coconut on top served with a scoop of Ube Ice Cream. ~ Milkshakes: Ube Monster - 4/5 Just a solid Ube milkshake. Rich and creamy Ube flavor, but not too sweet. The crushed Oreos give it a nice contrasting texture. So much Ube, so little time!

House milk tea & ube cookies

I have been seeing this bakery for the longest, but never went in. But today was the day & they'll definitely be seeing me more often. First walked in and was greeted by a girl with short hair wearing a hat, told her it was my first time and asked for recommendations, she went through the menu with me and suggested some popular items, very nice and patient. I went with the house milk tea and two ube cookies. It was made fast and I was in and out less than 10 minutes. House milk tea has a sea salted caramel I believe, it's salty and sweet on its own but when mixed in with the tea it is super delicious! However, the added boba itself is a little bit on the harder side. Now my favorite though was the ube cookies, FIYAHHHHHHHH. Sweet but not overly sweet, soft but not overly soft, perfect chew to it. I want a dozen right now! Overall, cute little spot, good service and good snacks.

The upside down halo halo is sooooo gooood. It's one of my favorite halo halo creations out there. Highly recommend subbing the vanilla ice cream for the ube ice cream!

Amazing customer service and delicious drinks! I've only tried this spot in LA and was so happy when I found out they have it here in NorCal and been meaning to try this location. The taste is the same and I love that it's consistent. Parking: Street parking but there's a free parking lot nearby that you can park and walk a few minutes to the store. I always get the upside down halo halo and it's my favorite! I've tried the normal halo halo but prefer the upside down one (the purple base one). Service: Quick and the girl working was so sweet!

Upside Down Halo Halo with ube ice cream and no langka (jackfruit)
    Caitlin C.

One of our favorite dessert spots in Mountain View! The upside down halo halo holds a special place in my heart. We get it without langka (jackfruit) only bc my husband is allergic. The ube ice cream is so delicious. We usually mix it all together but tonight we decided to eat the ice cream and cereal first. Such a yummy treat! The front staff were so nice. The online ordering system is so great. I sent these photos to my Filipino family and friends; they are so culturally proud and said this looks delicious! I would love to try the Mais Con Yelo next time.

    Ube cheesecake and ube flan
    Diana D.

We stopped by here to try their cheesecake, and while we were there, we also decided to try the flan. All treats here are ube-flavored. Both the cheesecake and flan tasted good.  We didn't try any drinks, but they do have a good selection of teas and coffee.  The staff was very friendly. The interior looked trendy, but the seating is pretty sparse. Stop by here if you like Ube-flavored sweet treats.

We just finished dinner with some friends and since they had never been to Cafe 86. We thought we would introduce them to this place. The cashier was very friendly, helpful, and sweet! She explained what certain things were in the display case and just made our experience more wonderful. We told our friends to get the upside down halo halo. One liked it, the other liked parts of the drink. We also tried the Ube Butter Bar. It was creamy, thick, and had a good bottom crust. First time trying it and I would get it again! The Ube Crinkle Cookies are good also!

Ube Overload. Went here for dessert with my hubby and brother in law. We got the ube truffle and the lech flan cupcake thing and their special ube donut pumpkin? I also got the halo halo. I couldn't finish the halo halo since it's so sweet. Too much corn flakes.

    Kristi Y.

The Ube butter bar was fantastic! The flavor was light, which meant it wasn't too sweet. It was extremely buttery that it melts in your mouth.

    Kayley C.

We looooove this place. Our go to spot for non-traditional Filipino desserts and to take our out of town friends/family to try. Their ube crack cheese cake is to die for. Service can be iffy sometimes, but otherwise the food is totally worth it.

One quick very happy selfie before diving in

I was brought to Cafe 86 after lunch to try their ube desserts, and it felt like stepping into an ube dream world! This cafe is all things ube, and with so many tempting options, it was impossible to pick just one or two. So, we went all in and ordered a bunch which totaled $31. Everything was pretty good, but because the desserts were quite rich, I only had a bite of each. The sweetness wasn't overwhelming luckily; just enough to satisfy a sweet tooth without being too much, even for those sensitive to sweets. Here's how I'd rank my favorites: 1. Ube Cookie: Soft, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. 2. Ube Truffle: Decadent, and packed with rich ube goodness. 3. Ube Monster Milkshake: Mix it before drinking. A bit heavy, I could only finish half of the mini. 4. Ube Butter Bar: Dense, rich, and satisfyingly sweet. 5. Ube Brownie: A bit too sweet, but nice balance of chocolate and ube. 6. Ube Leche Flan Cupcake: ok but I'm not a flan person The service was great, and I definitely plan to come back to try more. It's a unique dessert spot--perfect for those who love ube or are looking to try something new!

Okay but... a hotel coffee shop with good matcha? That's the plot twist I didn't know I needed…read more We stopped here on my way out of Santa Clara heading to San Francisco -- it's conveniently close to a bunch of other spots, and since it's tucked inside a hotel, parking was ridiculously easy. (Underrated luxury.) Now, the hotel itself? Visually... a moment. It looked like someone invested serious money into it, but the design felt a little space-meets-startup-meets-what's-happening-here. Some elements felt elevated, others felt a bit makeshift. I genuinely couldn't tell what the theme was -- futuristic? celestial? boutique-on-a-budget? I'm still processing. The front desk team was clearly well-trained and knowledgeable -- they had every answer, every stat, every rate breakdown ready. But the warmth? Missing. I was hoping for a little storytelling since I'd never heard of the hotel before, and instead got a very matter-of-fact "we've been here five years" energy. Efficient, yes. Inviting, not quite. But let's talk about why you're really here: the coffee shop. Completely different vibe. Two people working, both genuinely happy, welcoming, and quick. We ordered a latte and a matcha to go -- total was about $22, which made me blink for a second -- but then I tasted the matcha. Oh. This wasn't the overly sweet, dusty-green situation you sometimes get. It tasted clean. Real. High-quality. The kind of matcha that feels intentional. I love Firehouse in Marin, but this? This was closer to serious coffee roaster-level quality. Smooth, organic-tasting, beautifully balanced. You could tell they care about what they're serving. Branding was strong, the space was cute, and I could absolutely see myself sitting there with my laptop pretending I'm writing something important. We grabbed ours to go, but it had that easy, airy, "stay awhile" energy. Would I book the hotel? Jury's still out. They don't have an in-house spa and mentioned bringing in third-party services for certain amenities, which made it feel a little less full-service than I expected. Would I go back for the coffee shop? Without hesitation. Delicious drinks, easy parking, quick service, and a vibe that actually makes you want to come back. Sometimes the side character steals the show -- and in this case, it's 100% the matcha.

Because, once again, I was distracted by the quality of the food, and there would be no way for me to do anything else, but to eat! Today, I was in the mood for something more than a salad (much as I wanted to preset what I had the first time coming here, I made a concerted effort to order something else...), thus I chose the Forager Flatbread. It took less time to make this time (roughly about five minutes after ordering), and when it came out, I marveled at how it looked like a work of art! Just beautiful! Each piece of herbed formage blanc flatbread had a nice, crunchy bottom (but not blackened) and a slightly tanginess, with a a good amount of "hen-of-the-wood" mushrooms, sweet roasted garlic and a bed of arugula. My, oh, my! My first bite was a multi-level extravaganza! The crunch of the bread, followed by the aroma of the herbs and arugula, then the saltiness of the cheese, the sweetness of the roasted garlic, the earthiness of the mushrooms - all came together as just a wonderful work of culinary art! This being my first time eating today, my saliva glands just fired off at first bite, causing a bit of intense pain from too much saliva shooting out. But, seriously, this was a very delicious entree, that I enjoyed from start to finish! Bravo for this second joyous experience!

Craftsman and Wolves is a killer crafts bakery that makes the perfect Kouign-amann. The shop does many things including a signature bread pudding, small in size but big in flava. Measures maybe two and a half inches diameter, an inch thick. Packs a wonderful wowie punch with the seasonally ripe berries and fruit, plus a few pieces of specialty chocolate. My friend who knows from excellent pastries says the goods at C and W are special because the sugars in each item are balanced, not excessive. The goodies we sampled together were scrumptious. Somehow even my pedestrian palate senses that these dessert thingies are distinctive and of ultra quality. Ambiance-wise, it's a noisy place with a few tables lining the windows. You are elbow to elbow practically against neighbouring tables. I know I heard every syllable of the conversation going on to my right-hand side. I also knew it was Korean, so I couldn't successfully eavesdrop... boooooo. Very unique metallic artsy fashioned chairs make the space seem modern. There's merch in the corner and on a wall. You can get coffee drinks too. Service is excellent: the majestically tall staffer -- who I thought was manager but isn't -- was the kindest friendliest soul, very pleasant to chat with. Craftsman crew were mad busy, but always with smiles and ready to help customers. You won't find any bakery bites that are not delectable at Craftsman and Wolves. Kool yummy easy five stars.

Small coffee shop sized with maybe seating for a dozen inside and a few small tables outside. I wasn't too familiar with their offerings, but I did know that it was chef driven and dedicated to quality. And in my short peek, I somewhat was able to confirm that. Drip Coffee (4*) Solid, bold and enough smoothness for me to want to savor it. Not as dark and roasty as Peets but good enough for me, especially to go with their delectable pastries. Kouign Amman (5*) I love B Patisserie's version that is flaky but saturated in buttery sugar, that I can only tolerate 1 of those at a time. Very rich and decadent. I have never seen a version quite like Craftmans and Wolves but that is what I found adoring. The exterior almost seems fried like a doughnut/cronut but totally not sure. It kinda had that bubbled exterior but not blatantly obvious. And there was just enough sugar cooked into it that it made it stealthy sweet, I'd say easily half the amount of sugar as B Pâtisserie's. Not that I would eat 2 of these in one sitting, but I easily could. Croissant Pudding (5*) They do these tiny mini bread puddings that can be heated up. We chose it as is, room temp and it was still fantastic. They use croissants as the 'bread' so it isn't as dense as a regular bread pudding. But their custard to bread ratio was masterful and this version (think they change the variations often) has burst of fresh raspberry and chunks of Dulce which is like a caramelized/browned white chocolate made by Valrhona. (I had to look that ingredient up as I never heard until now.) And to take alternate bites between the flaky and unique Kouign Amman and the creamy and slightly dense pudding with sips of quality black coffee, just initiated me an avid fan of Craftsman and Wolves. Seriously smacks!
