This place nickle and dimes you for everything. they fill up the cup with 110% ice, charges you to have it at 50% ice, then charges you an extra $2 for a tiny bit more milk. I'll never go back. You basically are paying $8 for a cup full of ice and a tiny sip of tea drink. Even if this place had quality tea or drinks, they fill up the entire cup with ice and then water down the drink so you only are drinking a few sips of actual tea drink bc it's basically all ice. read more

I've always loved Mr Sun's boba drinks, though it was my first time at this store location. My drink (mango tea with mango boba) was as expected -- delicious and 'hit the spot' on the hot day -- but there was no welcome, even with no customers inside, and poor signage as to where to pickup orders. The parking was no bueno. I missed the parking structure because it looked like a residential lot, so I parked at a 15-min takeout zone behind a restaurant, which felt like a far walk in the hot sun. (Sun... get it?!!) Inside was disorderly, but there were things to look at, which was fun: a shelf of toys, a game that looked defunct, and lots of menus and promo signs. I walked all the way to the other end of the store in search of the drink pick-up area to no avail. There was a tiny handwritten note (it was like a scavenger hunt) taped to the counter that said to go to ordering area for drink pickups. I then walked back to the middle of the store to retrieve my drink. What would have been nice is if the employees had greeted me, since I was THE ONLY CUSTOMER in the store, and then they could have directed me or just given me my drink so I didn't have to hunt for it. Also the prices are pretty high (mostly ~$8 and up), but most drinks do NOT include toppings (boba, pudding, jelly). I do appreciate that you can customize sweetness and ice on non-smoothie drinks, but for the nonexistent customer service and inconvenient pickup, I think the price is too high. Mr. Sun's stashe aesthetic was really what inspired me to visit this shop on an absolutely hot day here in Mountain View. I was so ready for another boba drink and they delivered. The interior was quite large for a boba shop. There aren't a lot of tables but definitely standing areas where you can watch the outside world go by. If weather permits, you can enjoy your drink at a table outside the shop. Everything is ordered through the kiosk. However, there was no way to substitute or remove an item such as the boba cream for my drink, so I made sure to inform the staff once the order went through. I went with an Early Grey Milk Tea with Soy Milk, Boba, and less sugar. The drink was well blended and I could taste the tea over simply just sugar. I was happy they included non-dairy milk! I almost didn't see the self-order kiosk so I think someone cut in front of me as I was getting my bearings! There was a posted menu when we walked in but it was a little tricky to find those items on the ordering kiosk. Prices were a bit on the high side but portion size is good. Had a VERY long wait, almost 40 minutes, which is terrible especially since it looked like orders placed after mine were ready first. There was no real organization with the pickup process. Cups were randomly placed on the counter and it was hard to see whose order was ready unless you peered at the small label on it. Orders with multiple cups were not always completed together. On a positive note, the worker who answered a promotion question I had was friendly even though the promotion had expired (note: they need to remove the sign!), and the drinks tasted good. read more

This was the nearest Mr. Sun since the Cupertino location closed. It was a much larger and nicer location inside along with a Pac-Man video game and Godzilla pinball machine (both turned off during our visit). Outside parking was tighter due to the high density mixed shopping and apartment complex. Offerings still the same with customizable boba teas, waffles and their own boba made on site. We all ordered the same mango green tea with crystal ball and mango boba. 25% sugar was the right sweetness level for us and the crystal boba had a consistent chewy texture. Bringing our reusable MR Sun Duo Duo cup resulted in a 10% discount and we've recouped the initial cost. Service was quick with the two person staff. Visiting this location and spending $15 or more earned one play on their discount game where one could win a free topping, drink discount, etc. on their next order. unfortunately qualified spending jumped from the prior $10 earlier this year. I've seen a few locations around and decided that I should try it out. I have been looking for different places with mango drinks and saw that they have a few on the menu. This Mountain View location is pretty spacious with a parking lot. It was a nice place to just hangout and chill. You order off kiosks so not much interaction with staff. Mr. Sun Mango W/ Mango Boba (2/5): This was way too sweet and the mango flavor tasted artificial. The syrup was probably too intense from the mango boba which I didn't enjoy that much either. Located on El Camino near Mountain View Downtown, parking is limited and so difficult to find. I got lucky that there was a car leaving right when I entered. The interior is cozy with a few tables to sit at. They have a cool 4 play pacman machine which was fun to play on while we waited for our drinks which came out shortly after ordering. Mango green milk tea (5/5): oh my goodness the boba is so amazing. The texture was actually so magical. It was chewy but soft. The tea/liquid portion was also so yummy. Nice little boba shop with some interesting drinks (there's one with non-alcoholic Heineken?), but their stand-out feature is the in-house freshly made boba! They take pride in the fresh boba and house-made toppings so much they'll give you a free sample of their toppings so you can figure out which ones you like before you order if they aren't busy! The fresh boba has a tender but satisfying chew, which is different from boba cooked from dry or parboiled, similar to how a fresh pasta has a different texture than dry when cooked. The shop itself is a pretty standard boba shop, but seems to be kept clean and tidy. They have the little boba forming machine on display behind a pane of plexiglass, and I imagine if you come while they are making a new batch, you can probably easily watch! The staff is also super friendly and helpful, and offered me samples of other toppings they make in house as well (their new matcha jelly is soft like aiyu jelly and is plant-based, if you're curious). My husband, who usually prefers crystal boba to regular, commented that the boba by itself would make a pretty good dessert because it's a really nice texture. He got the egg waffles as well (with no filling), and really liked that. I got peach green tea (they were out of all their oolongs, sadly) with the brown sugar boba, and it was great! If you have time and just want to hang out there with a drink, that's good. If you are like me most of time, you want to get your drink as fast as possible, this place does not prioritize you. I suggest you prioritize the walk in customers when you can since they are already there. She should evaluate her career and possible reconsider working in food service industry- but if she still insists, I suggest she hides in the kitchen to minimize customer interaction. Anyhow, the drink I got was the Mr. Sun Mango W/ Mango Boba. The Mango Boba is like the regular, sticky and chewy pearl Boba and not like the Mango boba that is served at the Happy Lemon so just a heads-up. I don't like it but luckily it came with another half of crystal boba serving (which has the same texture as the Mango boba at Happy Lemon). The only thing I find challenging about this corner location is the parking. If you're luckily like I was, I went there shortly after lunch and since it's President's Day week (aka Ski week), everyone was out of town and the traffic was light allowing me to park directly on El Camino. I've tried Mr. Sun tea a couple of times before writing this review. My first experience wasn't that good. The store was unkept and didn't feel inviting. The drink menu was extensive, but there were very few tea or milk tea options that I like. Personally, I don't like sweet drinks and have always order zero sugar added option. So, a lot of the fruit drinks were out. I chose the tea special of the day that has oat milk and red beans. The cashier was nonchalant and not very helpful. I discovered that I did not like oat milk. So, I didn't enjoy the drink at all. I didn't want to give it a bad review based on that one visit. I went the second time. This time the store was cleaner and the cashier was friendlier. I tried the golden brown sugar boba milk tea (0% added sugar) and the red bean egg pancakes. They are good. Not exceptional but good. I don't know if I would make a special trip to Mt. So it seems like this store uses cups that are no longer transparent so we can't see what is inside the drink. So it finally happened, we order the three brothers drink which include grass jelly, pudding and boba but when we received it the drink only had boba and since the cup wasn't transparent we didn't know until we finish the drink. How dare I call myself an avid boba drinker and I've somehow managed to miss every Mr. sun tea location? I seriously can't believe I haven't tried this place before. I was so surprised by the way they prepared their tapioca balls, which actually isn't made with only tapioca starch like others. The owner took the time to explain that they made a concoction of konjac jelly and tapioca. Konjac is an East Asian plant that grows in tropical area and while the root has very little taste, it comes packed with soooo many health benefits... My personal favorite, fiber! We got to try the mango, strawberry, and brown sugar. I was so taken by the natural flavor; it did not taste like your overally artificial bubble tea. I also had the opportunity to try the coffee jelly with my hazelnut milk tea. It wasn't shaped like pearls but instead like Jell-O scooped from a cup!. That was also very natural tasting as it had the subtle bitterness that coffee often carries. I've been to Mr. Sun's a few times now and have always had good experiences! I like the tea here. I've tried some of the fruity and milk drinks, and have never had a drink I didn't like. The boba pearls themselves taste really fresh, and I like the variety they offer. I also like the vibe. My friends live around there, and this is a nice place to meet up. It's spacious, clean, and always has enough seating for my group. Even though they have an iPad ordering system (which is my preference for customizations anyway) the staff has been nice every time we've interacted with them. Nice and clean interior, killer boba! It's similarly chewy to tapioca boba, but just a little different since it's made with konjac. Pretty good and more healthy apparently! The drinks were all delicious, I think I'd say the fruit teas are the best, followed by milk tea, and then the milk tea lattes (of what I've tried and seen). We were getting 50% sweet and that felt just right (not too sweet but not too flavorless). My favorite of the bunch was probably the passion fruit green tea! So fragrant and refreshing! The three brothers milk tea was also pretty good and came with 3 toppings preselected (brown sugar boba, pudding, and grass jelly). The drink was creamy and delicious. The rainbow boba was fun to get, but harder to taste the flavors individually since they get all mixed together (there's brown sugar, strawberry, and mango). I found the osmanthus oolong tea latte with grass jelly to be a little watery in taste. Not very osmanthus-y. The peach jasmine green tea with mango boba was refreshing and light.
