Ume Mountain View is pretty much like the rest of the Ume shops. The place is slightly grungy and the staff really don't talk to you. There is minimal seating so you may need to take your drink outside. The drinks themselves are slightly better than average. It's better than the powdered sugar shops like ShareTea and T4 but not as good as some of the smaller chain boba places. We got the taro with mochi and boba. There's a lot going on. The boba was fine, chewy and fresh. The taro was almost nonexistent and the mochi was the normal Ume paste. It's good but not great in any way. I'm not someone who writes a review the moment I sit down somewhere. But I'm writing this before I've even finished my tea because of how humiliating this experience was. They completely ruined our day. A close friend I hadn't seen in years was visiting with their family, and we had two young children with us. We ordered two drinks and one snack. At 3:42 PM, I received an "Order Ready for Pickup" notification on my phone. When I went to pick it up, only the drinks were ready. I picked up the receipt to check whether I had somehow forgotten to order the snack. At that moment, I politely asked the employee at the register, ADSON, if the snack had been missed or if it was ready somewhere else. After all, my phone had just told me that my order was ready. His reaction was unbelievable. He responded as if I had insulted him and said in a rude tone, "If it were ready, we would have pressed the button on the computer." I explained that I was only asking because I had received the pickup notification. He then replied, "Then you'll have to wait." I told him that I was already waiting and had simply asked a question. He then responded, "You will put the receipt there, and we'll see it," in the same dismissive tone. I wasn't demanding anything. I wasn't complaining. I was simply asking because my order had been marked as ready even though part of it was missing. That's a completely reasonable question for any customer to ask. He scolded a 40-year-old woman in front of her two children and guests she hadn't seen in years. Please review the security camera footage. Look at his facial expressions, body language, and the way he treated us. It didn't stop there. He completely ignored us afterward. Our receipt was left crumpled on the counter. Eventually, my friend had to go up and explain the situation again. Only then did he reluctantly say, "Let me check," and walk away. He came back carrying a tray with several orders. We were standing right in front of the counter, and he was fully aware of what had just happened. Yet he handed out everyone else's food first. Ours was deliberately left until the very end, and then he literally threw our order onto the counter without even looking at us. We finally received our complete order at 4:02 PM--about 20 minutes after I had already been notified that it was ready. I have rarely seen someone in customer service behave in such a passive-aggressive and disrespectful manner toward a customer. I was embarrassed in front of my guests. I was embarrassed in front of my children. No customer deserves to be treated this way. I want the manager of this location to contact me. This level of customer service is completely unacceptable. My go to is the milk tea with purple rice. I notice on some drinks they don't even give you an option for customizations like milk choices. They do run on the sweeter side, so I find that 50% is the perfect amount for me. I know they have square to order and keep track on rewards with a phone number , but I hope in the future that they create an app for a smoother ordering process. This location is tough for parking since it's in the DT area. It's very small inside with limited seating, but the interior decorations and brightness of the place makes it feel larger and welcoming. I thought I'd like the tea here because I recently got tea at UMe in Santa Cruz and thought it was fine there, but tell me why it was sooo sweet and syrupy here. I tried this place during their opening a few years ago for a yelp elite event - but realized that I haven't reviewed the actual place yet!! There are many bubble tea places in the South Bay, let alone downtown Castro street, but this place really sets them apart. It is such a treat to walk in there, and order! You walk in and immediately feel like you are in this adorable bubble tea haven. There are such cute decorations everywhere! Ordering is super easy, you go to the counter and choose a drink of your choice. They have pictures included which is really nice for the visuals!! I am a big jasmine milk tea fan so I got the blossom jasmine milk too and it was to die for. I loved how it was so floral which was definitely my vibe. They had some pretty near other flavors too like Matcha Tiramisu that also seemed interesting! It's definitely worth checking out it just for the unique flavors. Also, if you add them on instagram, they will give you a free topping! I added them and the service worker was so sweet she said here give me your cup and I'll add a topping for you! I chose the green jelly and it was a nice addition! So definitely ask them and they will gladly help. They also have popcorn chicken side for munchies too which I haven't tried yet, but saw many orders for when I was there. Also I asked about the cute little keychain animals they have adorned up on the wall. They said you can get a surprise box with a bubble tea and a keychain inside as an option! I definitely want to try that next time, as the keychains were too cute :) All in all, if you are in the area I'd DEFINITELY stop here for a bubble tea fix. Cute Boba spot!! I came here with a friend. We ordered from their large tablet and that was easy. I ordered one of their matcha drinks. It was really good, but I wish there was an option to make it less sweet. Most of the drinks did but for some reason this one didn't. After you order, you can either wait inside or outside where they have plenty of tables. We went outside because their music was blaring and my friend and I wanted to catch up. We both enjoyed our drinks. The one downside is that there is no restroom here. For a place that sells drinks, I would think that they would have a public restroom. I went on a Saturday at noon and it was soooooo crowded. People were waiting for their orders that I think ordered online. Although it was so packed, service was friendly and they were working as fast as they could. The inside is super cute and pink with cute toys/ merch you can purchase. There's seating along the walls or outside. There's a touch screen to order at as well. The mango coco is soooo good, so fresh I love the mango and sago in it. The strawberry yogurt was amazing!!!! I stopped by on a Friday morning during opening hour. This Ume Tea location on Castro Street in Mountain View looks pretty inside and outside. The bright pink colors and pink patio chairs are all eye catchy here for sure. You won't miss it. Storefront looks awesome and it's quite spacious inside with a good amount of tables and chairs, or you can sit outside in the patio area. I am a regular Ume customer, especially for the refreshing 50% sweetness Mango Coconut Twilight beverage. Tastes great for my tastebuds. There's only one cup size for it. Cashier is ok, but nothing above average here. Gifts on shelves are good. Nice setup. Customers enjoy the space to meet up or catch up. Not crowded during morning hours. Self service kiosk is convenient. I think this is one of the prettier stores. Note, a chancetop service charge of $0.35 was charged to my $6.95 beverage though. That was sneaky. I have to say I'm extremely disappointed with this Ume location. I've been ordering from here for almost a year, usually every other week, and I've always recommended it to my friends, family, and coworkers. Unfortunately, over the last few months, both the quality and the overall experience have gone downhill. There have been multiple orders where I've either been missing extra ingredients that I paid for or my food has been made spicy even though I specifically requested, in bold letters in the order comments, that it not be spicy. The last 2-3 times I've paid for extra ingredients, they've simply been left out. Since there's no way to contact the restaurant online, the only solution is to drive back to the store to fix the order, which isn't practical every time. Similarly, the last two times I've ordered the tofu or popcorn chicken, they've made it spicy despite my repeated requests not to. Today's experience was the final straw. I was in a rush and accidentally ordered the black sugar boba with mochi because the menu items look nearly identical when ordering online. When I arrived, I explained that I had made an honest mistake and politely asked if they could exchange it this one time. They refused and said they couldn't make the change. I accepted that it was my mistake and took the drink anyway. However, after I started drinking it, I realized it was almost entirely filled with mochi and had very little actual tea. I genuinely don't understand the appeal of a drink that's mostly mochi. What makes this especially disappointing is that I've easily spent over $500-600 at this location alone over the past several months, and I've brought in additional business by recommending it to my family, friends, and coworkers. Yet they weren't willing to remake a single drink for a loyal customer. On top of that, this location is consistently behind on online orders, the fried foods all taste the same--which makes me wonder if everything is being fried or seasoned together--and the overall cleanliness of the restaurant has noticeably declined. The interaction today was enough for me to decide that I won't be returning. It's unfortunate because I genuinely enjoyed this place, but there are other boba shops in downtown Mountain View that offer better quality, better service, and owners who seem to genuinely care about their customers' experience. read more

One of my favorite go-to chains for brown sugar milk tea. Ordered the brown sugar boba and mochi black milk tea. LOVE the consistency of the drinkable mochi. Boba balls are very soft and QQ. Brown sugar flavor was very noticable, and the creamy milk made everything come together so well. They have lots of merch and collabs, so you can buy gifts and goodies as well. This is the second Ume that I've been. Loved that they introduced me to yumberry!! Ume has plenty of merchs that are so useful - like bunny lids, boba cup straps, bags, and cups!! And the ability to take pictures with fun statues and backdrop... makes the experience refreshing. Their ordering kiosk (they have 1 machine) is quick. Just make sure you read the menu ASAP so you make an informed decision. When ordering, they have recommendations on their cane sugar. I don't recollect anywhere Thats has something like this. I saw they had a coco mango bloom which is identical to the mango coconut one so I wanted to see what the difference was and I was also entice by the $4.99 price tag. I will say- this place is extremely short staff on a Friday night that our drinks took maybe 45 mins to come out. They definitely need to add 1-2 more people for the evening shift!
