had come here during an "off" hour so it wasn't too crowded. service was quick and simple - ordered boba milk tea with spicy popcorn chicken and it was the same as anywhere else - glad they're consistent. little indoor seating but i'd prefer to grab my drink and walk around downtown.

We got the best seller green tea with salted cheese and boba milk tea with puff cream. Both were great except the salted cheese was sweet and not salted. Great location but parking maybe tricky

I lovvvve happy lemon I think it's the best boba on castro street! They do get crowded but there is a lot of seating. The egg waffles take a while but they're sooo good, last I checked they also give a generous amount of puff cream or salted cheese with the waffle. My faves drinks: Go to order: Salted cheese milk tea 50-75% sweet Other good orders: Matcha latte with tirimisu foam 50% sweet Matcha Mango smoothie Mango Milk tea with Orange and lychee jelly 50% sweet (this is really good) I had the genshin teapuccino recently. Would not reccomend - it's like a worse version of their regular milk tea but more watered down. Also if you're a regular here I reccomend getting the app!

I like happy lemon. Always same and good quality in this location. Just one thing is; they are very slow. But this is common at Tea Shops hahaha I don't know why :)

Love love love Happy Lemon!!! My usual order: Okinawa roasted milk tea (25% sugar) with boba never disappoints. Sweet enough, pleasant strong tea taste and the boba pearls here are delicious. My mom tired the new Vietnamese coffee (25% sugar) with puff cream and wow!!! Vietnamese coffee is usually too sweet for my liking so I loved that you can adjust it here and the puff cream adds an additional creaminess to it.

One of my favorite boba spots! Consistently great drinks and quick service across their many locations. Some of my favorites are: - Strawberry green tea - Mango matcha smoothie - Matcha latte w salted cheese (and their salted cheese drinks in general) - Over the summer I've had a berry smoothie with salted cheese which was so good! Hoping they make it an annual thing

I got an ube milk tea with taro puff cream + boba and it didn't really taste super ube-y. It was still pretty sweet considering that I got less sugar. The boba was pretty chewy but overall this drink was just alright. The wait time was rather long (maybe 15 min?) considering that there was 1 person ahead of me.

Overall great 1st visit. Two out of our 3 drinks were a hit! I can say just from walking into the store you are greeted with a pleasant aroma of boba freshness! We each got different drinks; an ube boba (with creme), grapefruit lemon slushie and a mango lemon slushie. I've never had an ube milk tea with creme but it was a fun addition! My wife got a grapefruit lemon slushie which she said hit the spot on a warm summer day and my good friend with his mango lemon slushie said it was slightly sour but overall tasty. We will likely be back as we are new to the area and excited to find a boba spot that we enjoyed so much!

No question, this is HAPPY LEMON serving fried chicken. That thing is addicting, dangerously good, spicy and phenomenal. I had to order 3 more for the road! It was that good! I wish I had ordered 10 more! TAKE MY MONEY! One way to start a good service is their smiles. Great job Happy Lemon Team! We went on a non busy hour trying to pick up new stuff for my hamster. So I couldn't really get a rating on the ambiance. But overall, my experience at this Happy Lemon Spot is STUPENDOUS! I will definitely come back and try their other chicken flavors and other new drinks. Thanks!

My hot take: it's hard to find good boba in the Bay Area -- it's often too watery, the tea flavor doesn'f come through, or the boba consistency is off. Happy Lemon is one of the few chains I can always rely on. I've been to several of the locations (from Mountainview to the multiple SF stores) and the quality is pretty consistent. My go-to order is the black milk tea with boba and salted cream cheese -- it hits. Good tea flavor, not watery, nice little savory creamy cap.

Everything was beautifully presented. The workers were friendly too! Their items were a bit pricey, but worth it for the quality. Their spiral croissants were so much better than Fancy Flavors. It was flaky, buttery, and filled with delicious pistachio cream. This spot is especially great for more traditional flavors. The Anton Hokkaido Milk Crepe Cake wasn't overly sweet and the cream was light and fluffy. It was perfectly up to my standards when it comes to sweetness. I'd definitely come back again even if I'm willing to hurt my wallet because the sweets are just too hard to resist.

My family and I stopped by Marvel Cake during Mother's Day for a sweet treat on Sunday. This location is in the strip of Downtown Palo Alto and has limited parking (similar to the rest of the stores there, there is a lot of parking, and you will need to get lucky). My mom does like the Marvel Cake in their first location, so we swung by here to try this one out! Location-wise, this is a smaller shop than the original one in West San Jose with limited seating inside. I would say it's not work from home friendly however, I did see a college student next to me on her laptop so maybe I am incorrect here! The interior is nice and light, matching the elegance of the desserts. We ordered three items on the menu: the pillow cake, the bisou, and the blueberry lavender roll. Here are some thoughts: * Pillowcase cake: It may seem like this would be a fluffy cake due to the nature of its shape, but it is a gelatinous Jell-O cake with fruit jam. It was not bad, and tasted refreshing and light. I didn't know if I liked it at first, but ultimately I did come back for seconds and thirds, so this is approved. * Blueberry lavender roll cake: This was not at all what we were expecting. I did not taste any lavender, nor did it have a strong blueberry flavor. I think what threw our party off was the layer of gelatin that surrounded the cake. Texturally, we were not a big fan. * Bisou: This one was our favorite one. I appreciated the nutty crust in the bottom layer of the cake, while the filling was soft and bouncy. It is very sweet, however, but overall, I really enjoyed this one and feel like it would go great with a cup of coffee. What made the experience here a 3 instead of a 4 or 5 was the service we got. We weren't greeted when we came in, which, to be fair, is totally fine, maybe they were busy. However, the person helping us stared at us the whole time and did not really communicate well with us. When I tried to order the cakes for my family, they looked bothered that we were there, and I was not sure if they understood what pastries I was ordering because they did not repeat it back to us at all or confirm anything. When I did place the order, they slowly grabbed the plates and looked visually confused, which again, if they wanted to, I could have repeated it back to them. After they gathered everything, they put it in front of us and rang me up. The whole time, they did not say a word to me at all. Did not reconfirm anything, did not acknowledge we were there, did not say thank you. It was a bit strange, and I had to check with my family if it was me or if that was a really weird experience (it wasn't me).

They offer a variety of drinks, from lattes to milk teas to shakes. Some of my favorites include the Mocha Latte and Ube Milk Tea. The only disappointment was the Mermaid, but I'm not a green tea drinker so maybe it's just not my taste. The drinks lean sweet, so for those who prefer less sugar than me (i.e. most people), you should adjust accordingly. Meanwhile, the desserts are just as diverse and delicious. I enjoyed the Ube Cashew Brownie and Milo Cupcake, but would recommend the Ube Leche Flan Cupcake for your first visit. One trend across their offerings is the use of Filipino flavors like ube, Milo, and sweet corn. It makes them stand out in the crowded cafe & boba market. On the other aspects.. the store itself isn't too big but is well-decorated. There's not much seating so most will just order to-go. The service is usually quick so that's not an issue. Overall, I highly recommend checking out Café 86, as I'm pretty sure you'll find something you like.

I ordered an apple croissant, banana chocolate croissant, kouign-amann, baguette sandwich, and an iced mocha. It took a while for my breakfast to arrive. The iced mocha was warm because the ice had melted, but it was easy enough to fix with ice from my freezer. I'm pretty sure it had no coffee in it, just oat milk and hazelnut dark chocolate, which was perfect in my book. I drank it fast. It was my first time trying a kouign-amann, and I'm still not sure what all the fuss is about. After a couple of bites I moved on to the apple croissant, which had almond cream and a cinnamon apple compote in it. It was delicious, and I loved that it wasn't overly sweet. Next was the banana chocolate croissant. I was disappointed when I cut it in half and saw how little chocolate there was inside of it, but once I tasted it I realized it was just right. The bananas and almond cream were very, very sweet. It was scrumptious with powdered sugar and sliced almonds on top. Later in the day I tried the baguette sandwich, which had Brie, sliced apples, jambon, arugula, mustard, and garlic aioli on it. It was good at first, but then I had to remove the Brie because it overwhelmed the rest of the sandwich. The apple tasted great, but I pretty much love anything with apples on it. All in all it was an interesting breakfast and I'd gladly return to try more of their sandwiches and desserts.

As for flavor the Fleur de Pistache was good - texture was great but I do wish it had a heavier pistachio flavor. The Mango croissant was crispy and fresh. Both items weren't overly sweet which is what I look for in pastries/desserts so I appreciate that. I didn't get a coffee this time around so I can't speak on that, but I'll be back again to try the coffee and their other pastries. Overall, it was a great experience and worth the visit!
