Verde used to be one of the best boba options before the newer and fancier shops popped up in recent years. In my opinion it's still excellent, just faces ever more competition. What's to love most is its cups~~ hey guys size does matter :) The regular is as big as other people's large, and the upgrade is a giant tub you can bathe a baby in. I love coming here and ordering one of those, which lasts me the whole day and often into the next day. The tea is ok. It used to be really good, but as we said the standards have been elevated. I'd recommend the non-milk versions at this place. But Verde is not just a boba joint, it's also a Taiwanese snacks cafe. Toast, popcorn chicken, waffle fries, etc are all good. That makes it a nice spot for a date. read more

My daughters and I have been fans of Verde for a very long time! It is a treat that always is delivered by the folks here. From the smoothies, delicious teas and snacks you will never be disappointed. I finally tried the fried tofu and they tasted like little delicate pillows of heaven. Our favorites are the wings, popcorn chicken and of course the fried squid. Looking forward to trying more soon! read more

About average tea and below average boba. The kind of place you should just get Thai tea at.

I'm rating this place so high because I think they deserve a better rating. I typically go here for the spicy popcorn chicken and a large milk tea with boba, to go. And as far as meeting the quota goes, they do it better than most places I've been to -- a fair balance between price and quality. Plus, pretty much all boba places that also serve popcorn chicken I've been to don't serve milk tea in that size! They have a sign that says "cash only" but that's only referring to their counter orders as opposed to their tablet orders -- so don't get confused by that. I definitely want to come back in the near future, although they close fairly early. read more

Used to love this place, but it's gone down hill in recent years. Popped in on a blazing hot afternoon and the place was empty, which should have been our first sign. Placed an order for a peach milk tea and a red bean milk tea with 50% sugar. Drinks were ready in about a minute. They were OK, but tasted super sweet even at 50%, and quite artificial. The cup was surprisingly large for the price compared to other local shops, but it's not worth it. Would rather spend my $ and calories at the many other boba shops around town. read more

Great tea, toasts and popcorn chicken! We have been to this place in the last 10 years and love it.

I like this place. This is a Taiwanese style cafe. So many cafes are popping up left and right. I like them all. Good food, good price and great service. I been to the fremont site and Mountain View sites too. Go and try it.... Yummy read more

In a time when Bay Area boba is rising towards ~$7 a cup, Verde is a great exception. Lots of variety, consistent good taste, and quick service. I've been going here consistently for almost 6 years and finally got around to writing a review. Lots of good memories here. read more

No nonsense milk tea and popcorn chicken in downtown Mountain View! Two kiosks to order with card and a register for cash. Great every time!

Dropped by downtown Mountain View after a hike at shoreline and saw Verde, which we hadn't been to since before the pandemic nor dtn MV itself. We ended up getting a coffee milk tea and salty fried squid to go along with our Mifen 101 meal (they're across the street), complemented well and were tasty! We remembered from previous visits to the Verde chain stores that the squid snacks usually came with more pieces (~double) as well as sweet potato fries, so we were disappointed to not see as much/those this time. read more

I enjoy coming to this place after my lashes are done. They are a small hole in the wall type place. The menu is huge and they offer food as well. It is prepared fast and I would recommend this place to others. They also offer games to play which is super awesome. I will get either taro milk tea or jasmine green tea. I also get the popcorn chicken which is super yummy. I haven't explored the menu more than that but definitely a go to. read more

I've been a customer for a couple years now and my go to is a regular jasmine green tea but I tried the Strawberry Tea for the first time and of course it was delicious! Sweet potato waffle fries. OMG! Their fried food got way better and I'm addicted. It's under new management and the place is a lot brighter than before. It's actually good for study in the afternoon. Drinks is average for me but it still does satisfy my craving sometimes. I was craving for sweet potato fries the other day and I hate how they didn't post pictures about the waffle fries earlier (they changed better food but did not advertise at all) read more

Amazing Price for size and quality. I often go downtown mountain view, and I always remember to check this spot out

This is the original Mountain View milk tea shop which has gotten many awards the past few years and they definitely deserve them! We've been going here for many years and the consistency they've maintained is impressive. My go to is the mango milk tea because it's a perfect mix of sweet and little bit of sour; very refreshing! We also go the popcorn chicken and it was really fresh and crispy! The prices here are unbeatable compared to other newer places. So that's why I genuinely love coming back here! In the past, we've also tried the toasts, other milk and fruit teas, and smoothies. They were all really tasty! read more

Hold up...I think people are confusing the Verde Tea Cafe with their Verde Tea Kitchen, so the ratings might be skewed. Kitchen recently opened in March a few hundred feet away, which is a lot cleaner, open windowed, more food options but the same amount of drinks available. This location, however, is kind of on Castro st. but you'll have to make a turn off a bit (very close to Jazen Tea) to see it. Interior is very dark, a couple of tables to sit and chill but otherwise the atmosphere is more grab-n-go. Their top milk tea drinks are: Taro Milk Tea, Melon Milk Tea. I ordered: Regular size melon milk tea with pearls (+$0.40) // -1 ERRR. So no one asked me about my sugar/ice level. Not sure if it's adjustable? +1 Before I finished paying, the dude already had my drink ready! +1 OH HEYYY, PEARLS ON POINT. PERFECT, CHEWY, SWEET. I hope it's always like this! +/-1 The right side of me totally knows its melon powder that I could just purchase and make myself...however, it's good to taste something so artificial once every so often. Reminds me of the Calpico drinks! Pros: +1 Quick service! +1 Good prices! Maybe because it's heavily cash only, prices are cheaper by $1, toppings cheaper by 10 cents. Cons: -1 I guess the only thing that annoyed me was not having the option of the different sugar levels. Tips/Observations: -Guess they ditched the 5stars system...now you just give them your phone number and they will have their own Verde system! -"QQ noodles" is a pretty new thing, slowly being introduced to boba shops. This location has it, if it's your thing! Overall, I would come here again! Castro St. has so many options (Teaspoon, Jazen Tea, Tea Era) but it never hurts to come here since the line is hella short, prices cheap and quantity:quality is great! read more

Came here on Thursday evening for a quick bite to eat. From the yelp pics, there are food plates here. When we came, we were informed that there were only appetizers. Heads up if you're expecting rice plates! The reason why I'm giving this 3 stars is because of the wait. It took almost 30 mins for the appetizers to come out and we were the only ones ordering food. read more

Very disappointed with the popcorn chicken I received today. It was over cooked and dried plus I waited too long for them. Guess the cook forget about them for leaving them in the fryer too long. Also, it was not busy on orders for food. ... Not worth the price on over cooked dried popcorn chicken. Had better ones from cooks who knew what they were doing. Gosh! Not easy to chew on popcorn chickens that have the batter that are hard, dried and awful. I am concerned what I got were from yesterday's leftover batches. Also, the amount given were less than normal. Haven't been to this place for several months.... Definitely not worth ordering this item because the cook didn't do his job right. read more

I love the boba at Verde Tea Cafe in Mountain View, CA. I've been there a handful of times over the last ten years, whenever i'm in the area. I've tried a couple of tropical fruit mint teas there, but my go-to is the tarot milk tea. I had this on my last visit. I also really like the smoothie tarot milk tea with boba. The smoothie form is more flavorful than the regular milk tea. I think the tarot milk tea used to be sweeter and more flavorful. The place is small, but large enough to accommodate customers. The staff is efficient. I definitely recommend Verde Tea Cafe for a boba treat! read more

"Why you gotta be so rude..." One word to describe overall experience? Let's use that word: rude. Came here today after walking around Great Mall. The exhaustion from getting up early and shopping made me want a milk tea. Bad. Thank the stars when my cousin mentioned we would be getting some after. I remember enjoying their drinks like crazy and eating some salty fried chicken on the side. However, it seems that things have took a turn for the worst since my last visit. Customer service is rude. Really. The girl didn't greet us or offered a smile. She didn't even offer a suggestion when my cousin just stood in front of her, confused on what to order. She just kept staring with this look on her face. You know the look I'm talking about. That "why am I dealing with you again?" look. After completing our order and paying, I took out my fivestars reward card and she blatantly said "no." As in no longer accept? Lame. Maybe her look would be justified if we were holding up a line, but there was no one else in line. Drinks came out fast. And sucked. The milk teas were watered down and not in the "oh, all the ice melted" kind of way. It came out watered down. We thought we were trippin' balls, but another couple that was there said the exact same thing. Overall, eh. There are better milk tea places out there that give excellent service. I seriously doubt I would come back here after today. read more

I've wanted to try this place out for awhile to add to my milk tea list. This review will be based on the drink and a little of what I saw inside. I ordered my drink and left so I didn't sit down. The place was small inside, and I would only think it'll be hard to get down to the seats/tables that were way inside - if it's crowded. On to the drink! I ordered a milk tea with pearls ($3.01) and of course, it was frothy like the other Verde Tea location (in Fremont) I've been to. What I liked about this place was the fact that $3.01 got me a large cup! What a deal! I only say that because for the milk tea quality and size of the drink. The only place that I can recall that has the same size cups was that QQQ Tea in San Jose and that was $2.46 for not as good milk tea compared with this place. I believe the cup size was the 700cc cup vs the typical 500cc cup. I took a picture of the drink. The milk tea was good and had that frothy-taste to it. I can't explain it. You just have to try it if you haven't. The pearls were soft and chewy which was good. I read that the Cupertino location was horrible ($5 minimum to sit down), but I didn't see any sign like that here. However, I was only here to order a drink to go. I didn't have too much time to inspect the place. lol I'd say this place was better than the Fremont location because there were no clothes for sale on a rack or anything weird. The drink tasted better, too. read more

Recently revisited Verde because tea era was closed (boo Tuesday's) and upgrading to 3 stars for decent avocado smoothies. They use fresh avocado and the portion is generous. The chicken at the cafe is fair. If you like spicy, get the level 2 since level 1 is pretty mild. I can't handle spice and level 1 made me feel like I could handle any spicy level at any restaurant. Something I really did enjoy were the fried cuttlefish balls. They had nice spice and a light crisp. These were by far my favorite appetizers of the meal. I'm a huge fan of fresh fruit juice. They had watermelon juice with aloe, which was super refreshing. As I sipped the straw, my parched lips started glistening as the juice slightly spilled over the edge of my straw. It tasted so sublime, devouring it within minutes of perforating the perfectly encapsulated package of rejuvenation juice. The service was a bit slow, but we did come 30 minutes before closing. There was one staff there who had to make drinks for 8 people. Overall, I'd come back for the fresh juice drinks and the fried items. If you're looking for an ice smoothie based item, a friend mentioned maybe try another boba establishment. Overall, 4 stars for how hard the front desk lady worked, the fried items, and the fresh fruit drink. read more

Awesome place for bbq in downtown mountain view. Would definitely recommend this place over the other bbq places in the area. The inside looks clean and new, even though the store has been around for as long as I can remember. There aren't a lot of seats, but the whole decor feels very clean and comfortable. The lemon tea is also very well made, with the right amount of sweetness--not too much, not too light. I ordered the fried cuttlefish balls and the portion was BIG, hot, and crispy. mmmmm......crispy cuttlefishies Definitely a good place to get drinks or just hang out, if you can find seats. read more

We used to come here every day, but service is sliding. The mountain view location is crowded and slow, and it is hard to find parking. If you like tea, the large size is a good deal for $1.25 more. Also, they have the gift card, that has a built in 10% off, but you have to buy $30 at a time. And they also have the 5-star card rewards program, the typical buy twelve get one free. Taro, seasame, and wheat germ are pretty good. Mint tea is kind of too sweet--you should ask for no sugar in that because the syrup is already very sweet. Final tip. If there are mexicans working, ask to have them make the drinks. It seems counter intuitive, but the chinese workers have higher turn over. That one mexican dude has been working there for like years, and he makes the best tea. si senior! read more

*** update: my boyfriend went to verde yesterday and complained that it smelled of rotten eggs and a stinky toilet. I guess I probably wont be visiting here ever again. Tea Era is definitely a better alternative on Castro street. I probably would still consider going to the Cupertino Stevens Creek outlet *** Used to be my favourite boba place on Castro. Love the pudding milk tea! However, nowadays I'm split between Verde and Tea Era so I usually see which place has a shorter line. Verde uses the five star card so you get a free drink after every 10 orders, so that always gives me an extra incentive to go :p read more

ERHMEGERD they have tapioca balls in different shapes. My favorite are the dark bricks. This place is a lot of fun! Their Milk Tea tastes better than the standard powdery mixes you get at some places, including my dirty little favorite in Sactown. High quality teas are definitely offered here. My gripe is how ridiculously close together the tables are, and how blatantly obvious that point becomes when Verde is smashed full of people on a busy weekend evening. It's like some folks from Hoarders came and threw a bunch of extra storage furniture together in here haphazardly. This would typically drive me nuts due to my general people-aphobia and claustrophobia issues, but the fact that this is nowhere near ADA compliant, and that I had a friend with me that would have been a lot more comfortable if space were to be allocated better here, kind of pissed me off. Folks with mobility issues want to enjoy boba too! Fortunately, since this is downtown MV, there are plenty of spots to sit outside and enjoy your tea. Food for thought. read more

If I have to pick between Tapex or Verde, I'll go for Verde. I always get their honey milk tea. Yes their drinks are made from powders but their milk tea is pretty good for what it is. Regular size is big enough and the boba is hard and not mushy just the way I like it lol Their popcorn chx is pretty good too, they give sweet potato fries with it yay. Lately I notice they give less and less chicken tho smh!! Don't be cheap with your fellow Asians, Verde!! Regardless, I will keep coming back here cuz I go to Castro every weekend lol Dont forget to use FiveStar to get your stamps! Unfortunately they raised it to 12 points to get a free drink now! Verde used to have a location in Cupertino that I used to go to in middle and high school. Verde was my first boba experience, and that is why I am so hooked on milk tea. After getting food in downtown MV, I came to this location after remembering that Verde still had a shop on the same street. I ordered a black milk tea with small pearls, and my boyfriend had a rose green tea. The black milk tea tasted exactly how I remembered it to be, and the last time I had Verde was about six or seven years ago. My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed rose green tea and even drank about a fourth of my milk tea. He usually doesn't drink milk tea, but he was hooked after the first sip. The cafe is very cozy and has some tables inside to hang out or do some work. The drinks came out very fast, and the lady bagged our drinks together even before we asked for one. I will definitely come back more often now that I work in the area, but I'm pleased to see that the taste has stayed the same since the first time I tried it in 2009. read more

Green tea is my go-to flavor at bubble tea places - it's really difficult to get that perfect balance of the slight bitterness and sweetness. I LOVE their green tea smoothie with red bean. I think it's called Mo-Cha on the menu? But red bean - over green tea smoothie - how have I not thought of this before?? DELICIOUS combo. The guy asked if we wanted bubbles.. they have large, small, and this new noodle-y thing. I went for something different and got the noodle-y thing, which has the consistency of bubbles but is longer like noodles (thick like udon). It was a little weird.. like slurping up worms at the bottom of the bubble tea. I'll go with regular bubbles next time. read more

Their menu is over-priced for mediocre items, Their boba tea is watered down. The service is rude. Spend your money elsewhere.

One of the better powdered taro milk tea places. Their drinks are more on the creamy side, so it blends well with the taro flavor. I like how their sizes are slightly bigger than the usual you would get at any regular place for the same price. Pearls are nice and chewy. The drinks aren't too sweet--just right. The hazelnut milk tea tasted similar to the Coffeemate creamer used for coffee. The layout of the place is slightly tight. You walk in right up to the register. Then slide two feet to the left tapping your fingers on the counter while waiting for your drink/snack. Grab your drink and sit or be on your merry way. read more
