A typical no thrills all American diner experience. We stopped in for a quick breakfast. - Oatmeal- 7/10- the bananas that were served were partially blackened. Maybe they were precut and ready to go. -Biscuit with butter 10/10- Came piping hot, not overly salted just perfect. We could tell that it was made in house fresh. - Tex Mex Scramble 7/10- The hasbrowns were a bit soggy since they were placed under the scramble. The scramble itself was flavorful but overloaded with cheese. The fresh avocado did not look to appetizing as it was also starting to blacken. Our coffee was not refilled at any point. Today at the Walnut Creek Buttercup, service was bad. First of all the waitress forgot my side salad, and I had to ask another waiter. My hubby was waiting for her to refill his coke and come back with a side of thousand island for his burger. But, she never came back to check on us. My lemon pepper salmon was Very Salty, I only took 1 bite and could not eat it any more. So, I asked her for another lemon pepper salmon dish. In the mean time, back to my salad, it had a brown bug on it. Plus, the lettuce wasn't washed properly, it had some brown stuff on it. ex.) like mud on the lettuce. YUCK! THAT'S SO GROSS! Waited for a server for over 15 minutes. There was a waitress that kept walking back & forth without being acknowledged. . She had seen us sitting at the table and didn't even look over at all . Overheard her talking to the other customer saying she's been there over 20 years and you would think with over 20 years of knowledge you would be more gracious and communicative to the guest who arrived near you.. definitely they need customer service education. we will not be returning and disappointed at this location . I got charged $2.00 extra for burger patty instead of bacon or sausage, but nowhere on the menu it states that, when I asked why, they said the computer upcharged me for a turkey patty, I said I didn't get a turkey patty, which also is not stated on the menu as extra. This is the first time I am leaving a review. I went to ButtercuP for the first time with my fiancé, future brother in law, and my future mother in law. My fiancé and I both ordered the Prime Rib French Dip. It tasted like reheated 2 day old meat with the texture of rubber and looked like roast beef. Our server Alejandra told us to pay up front after taking our unfinished food away with no explanation. In the end they were extremely rude and tried to charge us for our disgusting plates saying we ate it when it was sitting right by the counter. We are frequent customers , however the food quality and preparation has been lacking lately . We don't object to higher food prices but expect quality food in return. Last Friday I ordered BLT with fries. The sandwich was a total failure, no Majo on the bred and one end pice of tomato cut in half, that is not acceptable to us. Chicken was nice and moist on the inside with the outside perfectly fried without being burnt. The waffle was a waffle but the honey-butter is the key! Give it a shot if you're looking to pick up breakfast before work. *Side note, if ordering a hot coffee, know that the lid has no seal to the "sippy" part and they do not have sleeves for it, so be careful cause it is HOT coffee. We liked our food, which is good and plentiful. The service is efficient but unobtrusive. The tab for a scramble (with hamburger, mushroom and spinach), Belgian waffle with banana and candied walnuts, and a coffee was under $40. Every now and then I check out a new diner and found this one because I was in search of a good cinnamon roll! This place has something called Cinnascuit which you can expect to be a cross between a biscuit and a cinnamonroll. Even though I just came for the cinnascuits that were covered in a luscious frosting, they had a pretty good selection of pies and food too. I ended up adding Shrimp and Grits which were better quality than you would expect from a diner! It had a good amount of ingredients in it sk the to go plate was overly full and quite oily so leaked a bit too. The cinnascuits were very satisfying, I ordered them again already. The frosting is super sweet so be prepared for that or share one with someone else. I've never known about this chain before but now it's on my radar and will probably try a pie at some point! read more

I feel sorry for this restaurant. It was a Saturday night and there were only 4 tables occupied. Prime rib was still good but the side veggies were very bad. It was way overcooked or maybe just cooked and sitting there waiting for an order. The broccoli was very old and already turned yellow. Should never have been served to a customer. Hubby and I were in town for medical appointment and stopped for breakfast before heading home. He enjoyed his French toast with eggs and bacon despite the small pool of grease on the plate. My food, however, was not so great. I ordered the feta veggie omelet with cheesey grits on the side. My food was GREY. Not just a little colorless, but seriously grey. I asked the waitress why and she said she gets that question all the time. She said it was because of the artichokes and avocado. I'm a pretty damn good cook myself and never have my eggs turned grey from mixing in artichoke or avocado. But...whatever. I was hesitant, but I ate some of it anyway. It didn't taste odd or bad. It actually didn't taste like anything at all. The only flavor I could make out was the feta (salty). I decided to stop eating it though just because it was so sketchy looking. Unfortunately my grits were completely cold and undercooked. SO chewy and cold the butter ball in it wouldn't even melt. To top it off, the coffee was luke warm and terribly weak. I like to stop at ButtercuP while in Walnut Creek for my treatments. They have ample parking, outdoor dining, and a tasty menu at a reasonable price. One of my favorites is the champagne chicken; it's normally served with rice and veggies, but I love it with fettuccini, and they have always accommodated my requests, even on DoorDash! They also make a great club sandwich, mac n' cheese, and breakfasts, and their dinner salad is just perfect. ButtercuP also has a full bar for mimosas or Bloody Marys! They take great care of me. I love watching the staff help the regular seniors with their electronic gadgets. It's a nice atmosphere that touches my heart. While you're there, don't forget the PIE! I've been here more than 100 times and know most of the servers. I was so disappointed today with the food. As I walked in, someone just received their order of fried chicken. It looked great! 4 plump pieces of chicken and all accompaniments, even though I was here for brunch, I ordered the fried chicken. 3 very small pieces - 2 are shown here. Service is always good to great and, having been here so many times, it's like a second home atmosphere to me. I've gotten better at Dennys. I'm not sure what happened. It wasn't what we remembered. I ordered the O'Brien potatoes with my classic breakfast. They were cold, seemed like they were soaked in grease. O'Brien potatoes are supposed to have bell peppers and onions, these did not. My wife's Belgium waffle was also cold. The butter never melted. Starting from the excellent, cared service (thank you Carlos) we were in no need throughout the time. Table was thoughtfully picked to accommodate stroller needs. Coffee and order served at no time with the smile, good mood and pleasant morning light jokes. Food wise - giant entries with very affordable pricing (see menu pics) and good selection. 6 types of Benedicts to choose from. Would recommend Linguica one with hash browns, however will leave it up to you to satisfy you taste. Excellent pie selection and good coffee can complete your dining experience. My 2 kids really liked this place! I'm pretty sure it was because they each got a huge cup of hot chocolate with their kids meal. It was topped with a LOT of whipped cream that I couldn't help but to steal some from each my kids. We (party of 5) came here around lunch time on a Sunday earlier this year, and they were busy, but very efficient. There were different rooms at this restaurant that isn't instantly seen immediately entering the restaurant. We were seated within 10 minutes, to one of the rooms. The waiter did a great job checking in on us and made sure our waters and coffees were filled. The prices here were really decent too. Under $15 for most things, and the food justified the price. I tried the following - Sausage Platter - with eggs and hash browns. Everything was cooked right and was well seasoned. The sausages (I don't remember what kinds they were) was good, and it was a good variety. The hash browns had good amounts of crunchy parts (my fave), and went well with the hot sauce and ketchup I put on it. The eggs (over medium) were cooked right and paired well with both the sausages and hash browns. Hickory Cheeseburger with Curly Fries - wow, this one was really filling! Good size of meat (though not quite cooked medium rare) and good proportion of toppings. The curly fries were plenty and were really good too.
