I have visited the bar area in the Bay Club lobby a handful of times. For the simplicity of its look, location and offerings, it does a decent job of providing hotel guests, gym patrons and general visitors a nice watering hole and quick bite visit to/from their travel. In terms of key areas: Serving Area: 3/5. The lighting system is rigged so when one half of the bar area turns off their lights, the back lights for the main bar area also go out. It wasn't a major issue but the dimness was not a good look. Some tables were missing chairs. I wasn't sure if they're going for cocktail style tables or if they just weren't set out. I sat at the bar and noticed some small gnats and flies around the bar area. Some deep cleaning of the bar should be completed. Food/Drinks: 4/5. I'd like to see the menu changed with seasonal or specials as the last few times I've gone, it's the same. Like I mentioned, in general this place does a decent job in providing drinks and food. Ordering included: - Gochujang Wings. These are probably my favorite thing on the menu. They are a unique flavor for their menu. The other flavors, buffalo and lemon pepper, are mediocre so try these out for a new flavor option. - Cobb Salad w/Chicken. Solid salad! - Bay Club Burger w/ Fries. Great flavor, cooked to desired temperature and fries were super crisp. Staff: 5/5. At the Bar, both bartender Matt and food runner/server G did an awesome job. Both are very personable, make small talk with all guests and have their eyes on the entire area to make sure guests are taken care of. The staff at this bar/restaurant help make this place lively and engaging. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this location; however, when I'm on property I will def stop by for a quick beer and bite! read more

I met friends for happy hour and dinner at Citus Grill in the Bay Club/Renaissance Walnut Creek. We had tasty wings for $1.50 each (Wing Wednesday), brussels sprouts, and a wonderful rib-eye steak with roasted sweet potatoes. They also have a great espresso martini! The food was delicious, and the service was excellent! The Bay Club hosts many events for members and non-members. Their next event will be the Holiday Costume Party on 10/31. We stay here at least every month. Off the chart fabulous..the food AND service! Travis, the chef, has done a great job delivering both! We are staying here frequently and always start our day here. I wanted a good dinner after a full day of work. The Citrus Fresh Grill was recommended by the front desk associate. I was going to do takeout, I enjoy my food more when I eat it hot . My server was nice. He was very busy. He had quite a few guests. He didn't give me the full Attention that I wanted. I ordered the Fish (Halibut) & Fries with a French Passion drink on the side. The food came up quickly. Everything was hot. I couldn't enjoy the Halibut due to the breading being so thick. My server never came back by after dropping my meal so I couldn't share my experience with him. Sucks to waste $44. Hopefully, I'll get the opportunity to visit them again someday. read more

I have been a bay club gym member for many years, and always enjoy occasional lunch/take out from this place. Food usually very fresh and tasty. My favorite is fish tacos and veggie California bowl. My kids favorite is burger and chicken tenders. There soup of the day is good and kid friendly. My only wish that they have more vegan friendly options and whole grains,instead of white rice. They have plenty of tables outside overlooking the pool area. Inside you can seat in the general launch area or at restaurant's tables and order your food from menu or at the bar. The service , menu and food need major work at this place. I ate here last night. The "tofu bowl" item on the menu was listed as having a whole array of vegetables. Usually the bowls at this restaurant are fresh and with a lot of vegetable ingredients. I waited more than 30 mins for my order and when the server brought it out, it was a noddle bowl. I am gluten sensitive. I looked back at the menu listing- no mention of noodles on this item. I had to return the dish as I cannot eat the noodles. They proceed to fill every other ticket in the restaurant, leaving me waiting over an hour for a tofu veggie bowl that costs $27. While the manager was helpful, the server was rude and attitudinal instead of actually serving and helping me. The dish they finally brought out was edible but definitely not worth the charge. So disappointed in this restaurant at a club where I am a member. Very poor service, menu and food quality. Needs work especially at these prices. read more

Giving this place a 1 star would feel pretty harsh, but I can't recommend it as an OK experience. We went for the mother's day buffet at noon, and the experience for all of us was dissapointing for what they charged. There's no parking service or any help to identify where to park. They will comp parking fees for the adjacent parking structure, but doors to the elevator are locked. or the elevator itself wont allow access to another floor. The table service was fine once we arrived, but ghosted us for drinks after that. The food under the lamps was shrivled, hard, or dried as if it'd been there since 6am and was never refreshed even on request. The deserts were hit and miss, but something with the lemon tarts was definitely "off". As for ambiance, the music was too loud to have a conversation and the playlist seemed to have "The Girl From Ipanema" injected into it way too many times. We had to hunt down someone to be able to pay to leave. As expected, the gratuity was already calculated into the bill, but for the price of the buffett at a reputable hotel, we would have expected a better overall experience. Maybe there's an ideal time to show up for fresh food or better service, or maybe if I'd known what to plan for with parking, we could be preparred next time, but we won't be going back. read more

I come here often after the gym since it's in the same building. Very frustrating to try to get a quick meal and have to wait so long. Just returned home from an outstanding dining experience at Citrus. Chef Travis came to Citrus from Thomas Keller's Ad Hoc restaurant in Yountville. He has really raised the bar in the East Bay with his menu and execution. The endive salad tonight has both red and green endive presented as a alternating tower of color interspersed with fruit and cheese; lightly dressed. Outstanding. My flatiron steak was seared exactly right and yummy accompanied veggies. My Sweetie told me she's never had better seasoned steamed mussels (with frites). This is a hidden gem and NOT your parents hotel restaurant. Give-'em a try. We're going back for sure! I can't speak for the experiences of the two folks before me, but I've eaten at C-Blue regularly. It is easily one of the best restaurants in Walnut Creek. It's upscale, Asian Fusion, meaning it is American comfort food with a sophisticated Asian influence. The decor and the atmosphere screams hip, New York bistro. It has a full bar and an outdoor seating patio. The food are very reasonably priced and menus are quite varied. They have pulled pork sliders. That is to say Hawaiian styled barbecue pork on soft buns, delicious. Their Halibut dish is made with a mild ginger - soy sauce, thick and succulent. Real gourmet quality in an upscale atmosphere. Their Sunday brunch is opulent includes champagne and is again one of the nicest spreads in WC. $18 for adults and $12 for kids. The prices are reasonable considering the ambience, service and quality of the food. Actually despite the reviewer before me, the price are very reasonable for those not on a student budget. These are NOT I-Hop prices but neither are they the prices you'd be paying at another equivalent restaurant in WC Va di Vis (another of my favorites). This restaurant ususally is not crowded because no one knows about it. It's tucked away off the lobby of the Renaissance Hotel on Treat Blvd (near the freeway entrance) and there's no signage outside. So only hotel guests or the nearby health club people know about this litte gem. This place has also an opulent daily breakfast buffet. It's a place that can be dressy or casual, however, dressy is better. Park with the Valet at the hotel and the restaurant picks up that tab (there's also a self park option). Their appetizers/tapas/small plates are a great option for either sharing or eating alone as they are typically largely portioned. My faves are the fish tacos and the lettuce wraps. I'm pretty much full off both. The sea bass was ok albeit a bit salty for me (picture attached) but the presentation was nice to look at. Their chicken caesar salad dinner portions are like enough to feed a family of 4 so consider yourself forewarned. The food quality is decent enough and healthy. Service can be a bit slow and the ambiance is meh. It really is just a hotel lobby with a restaurant off to the side. Outside seating is nice on sunny days as it overlooks the soon to be removable bocce ball courts/event space. Construction is almost complete last I checked. Oh & My absolute fave dinner is CJ's Bistro Steak so yum! read more

I've been eating at Citrus for several years. They have 2 extremes. Super healthy and not healthy at all. This is a good thing, by the way. I am NOT a salad guy. They have the best salads anywhere. Asian grains with salmon and extra beets is my favorite. The breakfast buffet is SILLY good too. Fresh fruit and the best bacon you will ever find in a hotel restaurant. Most disorganized restaurant ever. I was dining alone with 90% of the tables empty. After 15 minutes I was served water with no offer to order a drink and after 25 minutes I was approaching by the waitress (after she took 2 other orders who were seated after me). I ordered the Thursday special, as seen on the menu I was given, which was 3 tacos for $5. I was told they weren't serving that special in the dining room (so why did you give me this menu?). She said she would check with a manager because another table ordered that as well. Spoiler alert: she never returned to the table again. 10 minutes later, a waiter asked if I had ordered. I said no, so he directed the manager to my table. She said I couldn't order the tacos; fine. I had plenty of time to decide on a backup anyways. I ordered the ponzu rice bowl with chicken and an iced tea. "How do you want your chicken cooked? Well?" Seriously? Finally received the bread, which was a godsend. The bowl arrived about 10 minutes later; still no iced tea. It was overly drenched in the sweet ponzu sauce which overly dominated every bite. I could only stomach half and switched to finish off my bread and I planned my exit. And then I continue to wait. After another 15 minutes went by and I watched almost every table send a representative up to the manager to voice a complaint (witnessed 3), I had to request my check at the hostess stand. Surprise surprise, I was charged for the iced tea. I can say with 100% certainty I will never find myself in Concord for work again and will absolutely NEVER attempt to dine here again. Terrible service! The restaurant was out of several menu items that the Server Mattie did not know were sold out or not available. She told me there was no salsa for the chips when she delivered what was supposed to be my 'chips and salsa'. I did not feel like paying $9 for just the chips when I complained. My appetizer was brought at the exact same time as my entree which infuriated me because I specifically ordered an appetizer because Mattie said the kitchen was backed up (surprising since the restaurant had less than a dozen customers in the entire place), but that I'd still get my appetizer first, and quickly. I had to get up and ask Mattie for ketchup as it was not brought with my entree and she never came back to the table. Ketchup should ALWAYS be brought/offered when french fries are served! Took FOREVER to get my check, even after I asked for it, TWICE. I'm not ever going back. Terrible! And the food is not that great tasting either. It's basic bar food. read more
