What a huge disappointment. Have been eating there for a couple of decades and never had a bad experience...until now. Waiter was an arrogant know-it-all and the food was completely lousy. My daughter's burger came raw...the waiter disappeared and didn't return until we were mostly done...then my daughter showed him how her burger was raw so he went and made a new one when we were all done and my kid was too disgusted to eat any more. And oh btw, the tots were hard as rocks. Did I mention a burger costs $25 now and they no longer offer bison? Hard pass read more

Decent place, slightly above average food, and meh service. I like the grilled chicken sandwich. The chicken wasn't dry and the fries were good. My boyfriend has the Definitive Burger... He didn't have any problems previously stated by other reviews. The burger was cooked well and the bacon was thick and delicious. With a 25% off season discount for the overall bill, this place is pretty good. Not particularly memorable. read more

Recommended by a friend, we came to this restaurant. Upscale burgers, and nice steaks. Pot pie seems to be a favorite so we tried that too. Everything was great and the service was super friendly. We will come back when we visit avail again! read more

Vail is one of my favorite places, but the fare (everywhere it seemed) is just a tad bit higher than I'm accustomed to here in Texas, that's for sure. I chose the nachos with my brother and I both splitting a burger (I'm not big on lunch). The nachos were huge enough for perhaps 4 people and our bill was over $100 so I guess we made out with a fairly decent priced dinner for Vail, (and no, we didn't get a season discount) The service at BRR was average-I think they try to make it a low-key hotspot for casual dining, I was expecting more from it being Vail, & all lol. But overall I would stop by again on my next visit. read more

Wow what a place!!! The food was a great culinary experience. The service was 1A. I can't wait to go back.

For some reason I've always had a soft spot in my heart for good hotel bars, and the Bully is no exception. This quaint alpen-styled mountain pub is in the back of the Sonnenalp Hotel and is golden in comparison to a lot of the other frankly bland mountain bar options in Vail Village. The Bully is always open through the shoulder seasons with a good mix of longer tenured locals and tourists. With the drinks costing just 10% more than the other bars in the Village, going the Bully is an exceptionally good way to avoid the stoned 23 year old freshman local who wants to bomb PBR tallboys, wear 80's neon sunglasses at night, and brag about how gnarly he is on the half pipe. I've made 10 or so visits to the Bully in my 5 years living in the Vail Valley and I've always experienced friendly service, great food, good times, and tasty cocktails. Not to miss: Usually 1 or 2 really good IPA's on tap Mudslides!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Definitive Burger The Nachos read more

There is something wrong with a restaurant that charged $5 to split a plate. Even when I explained that my wife and I had gastric surgery and cant fit the volume of food, they did not care. read more

Chose this location because of the Yelp reviews. Sooo much food! Husband and I could have split an entree. I had the Definitive Burger and he had the fish tacos. Again, due to Yelp reviews, he upgraded from fries to the Truffle Tots (tater tots, really). Both my french fries and his Truffle Tots had garlic on them which turned them from boring to super tasty! Sit on the patio if you can. Inside seemed dark and dingy compared. We would go again the next time we are traveling through. read more

We walked in with 10 people with no reservation and they were super nice to accommodate us. They have good selection of beer (mainly german), and their burgers are worth it, especially the buffalo one. This is one of the oldest resturant in Vail and you can tell from the architecture and decor. read more

Great western ranch style restaurant. We stopped in here for burgers and tots. Wednesday night was burger special night and we pigged out. I got a house salad substitution instead of the fries and it was amazing with blue cheese crumbles, walnuts, beets, cranberries, and mixed greens. The tots are total salty fried potatoes...horrible. Stay away if you're trying to watch carbs. The draft beers were out and our server was new and didn't know anything. Very frustrating. I give them 4 stars for a great atmosphere, burger, and salad. Kind of off the beaten path. No view. read more

They have really good burgers and when you ask for medium they give you medium not medium well like most burger places. Truffle tots are also really good and highly recommended ! read more

In search of a cheap meal in Vail, good luck, we headed off to the Bully Ranch for reasonably priced bar food. If you call $16 fish tacos a deal, I think we did pretty good. The service was decent and the fish tacos were ok. Although mine were about half the size of my friend's. I needed mine in corn tacos and her's were in flour. Not sure how that accounted for the portion size, but it sure did. They were tastey enough, but pricey. read more

I have been here 4 or 5 times over the last few years. I went the other day for dinner and it was great. Not crowded (as it is off season) and our service was good. I had the cheeseburger and it was cooked perfectly. My friend had the Definitive (bison) burger and she really liked it. We started off with the "table side" guacamole. It was good but the "table side" was a stretch. All it was was diced up avocados brought to the table with a bowl of pico de gallo. She dumped the pico into the diced avocados and stirred it up. Not too hard and not much of a demonstration. At least you know it was fresh avocado I suppose. The margaritas were tasty too. Additionally, she said the the tab was 25% off because of the off season. It was nice that she told us otherwise we would not have know otherwise. Definitely worth visiting as I have always had a good experience here! read more

We came here for hot chocolate, and the couple we were with ordered lunch. I'll say this, the hot chocolate was possibly the best I had had in Vail during my trip. but it was $8! I couldn't believe it. No alcohol in it, just hot chocolate alone. Vail is expensive, but no other place was this proud of its hot chocolate. The drink gets 5 stars, the price gets 1....and that's where 3 stars comes from. I'll say the menu looked good, and I did try the portabello mushroom sandwich. It was very good, and I would order myself if I ever come back. read more

Great american restaurant, with a beautiful cabin decoration, great service and excellent burgers. Price is more affordable than most of the restaurants in Vail. The waiting piano bar next to it its really nice. read more

Their Thanksgiving to go feast was amazing. The dinner was a serving for 8 to 10 people. We had more than enough for our family of 8 adults and three children. The food and dessert were delicious. read more

We were guests at Sonnenalp and decided to give Bully Ranch a try as the reviews seemed ok. It was the worst food we've had in many years. My wife's 6 oz Filet didn't taste anything like any filet we've ever had. It was ordered medium rare but arrived well done. My 14 oz ribeye was ordered medium rare as well. It arrived well done but at least tasted like a ribeye. I bet it didn't weigh 10 oz. Then, we witnessed one employee berating another employee; great ambiance. The final straw was the pen stopped working halfway through signing the check. Total waste of $140 . . . the drinks were the only thing that were average. Do NOT spend your money here! read more

One of the best tucked away restaurants in vail. Started off with the Bavarian Pretzel that was beyond massive and fed 4 of us. My entree was the Bully Fried Chicken sandwich and it was just as expected, amazing. If I happen to come back to Vail I will most definitely visit again. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the valley. I was visiting here for Mudslide Monday (their Mudslide cocktails are delicious), when I finished my drink, I saw something moving in the rock covered wall near the entrance. It was a mouse. As soon as I saw it, it hid inside an electrical outlet. I understand this is an old building and the mouse was pretty far from the kitchen, but still a mouse in a restaurant is not a good sign of facility cleanliness. Overall, good food and great cocktails, just need to fix their mouse problem. For those wondering, I named the mouse Mr. Jingles. read more

Fun spot in Vail. Highly recommend the trout and the bison chile. Both of those were delicious. They also have tasty burgers. On the expensive side, but most restaurants in Vail charge a premium. Our server seemed rushed, but the restaurant seemed down staff due to covid. They are following social distancing guidelines with spaced tables. read more

Went for lunch yesterday on the recommendation of the person at the Information Center. We had our dog with us and this place is very dog friendly (when you sit on the patio). They brought a water bowl (with ice water) and homemade treats for our dig which was a very nice touch. The truffle tots are to die for and the bison burger was very good. My wife had a grilled chicken salad which she loved. Service was excellent and timely. Way more food than we could finish. $60.00 (inc. tip) for lunch seemed a bit high for lunch but we were in the heart of Vail and I assume pricey is the norm. read more

Food and service is excellent, but pricey. Burger was fabulous, but $18. Fish and Chips great, too. Sarah, our server, is extremely friendly and great memory. Would have given it 5 stars if the prices were a bit lower, but then you are paying for the location and atmosphere. Will visit again. read more

Awesome burgers and sides, especially the truffle tater tots!

Great place for dinner! The chicken nachos for an appetizer tasted delicious and the serving was huge! The pulled pork sandwhich was very moist, the beans were amazing, but the coleslaw was dry. The fries were cooked to perfection and had the right amount of salt. My husband had the bison burger and he said that was dry, too. The staff was friendly and the bathrooms were very clean. This restaurant will be a repeat. read more

Received a recommendation from hotel concierge as an affordable and tasty place for dinner. We were not disappointed! Wow, so many flavorful dishes. Ordered the artichoke dip which served 6 of us for appetizer (served in a bread bowl). I ordered the tomato cheddar soup (comfort food!) and the sweet chili calamari and that was amazing. Even the house salad that came with an entree (that my sis allowed me to taste) was delicious. Everyone was very happy with everything down to the French fries that came with another order. Would definitely recommend! read more

We were looking for a casual low key place to grab dinner after a long trip to Vail today. As is usually the case I take the time to read the local reviews on Yelp. We chose the Bully Ranch Restaurant as a quick Burger was exactly what we wanted. Our server Leigh was extremely friendly and accommodating, she was totally attentive to our needs and made sure we were well taken care of and completely satisfied. As many others have stated here the Truffle Tots are a must order for an appetizer but don't fill up on these before dinner as the portion is tremendous. The hamburger served on Brioche was "gigunta" and the choice of homemade sides, I chose baked beans was delicious. The menu was reasonably priced and they had several other selections besides the burgers that we chose, I think that we might actually go back during our stay to try something else. I understand that the Colorado Peach Cobbler is to die for but unfortunately we had no room to try it. read more

Bad service It took over an hour to get the food after numerous complaints Excuse was that the kitchen was busy No one offered even bread or anything else during the wait Heard that many others had the same complaint Will never come back to this establishment read more

We called months in advance to set up a reservation to do a toast for my sister's wedding. On the DAY OF the wedding, 4 hours before they were set to get married, they called my brother in law and cancelled our reservation with absolutely no explanation as to why. I am not a happy customer, that is for sure. Came in for some drinks with a group of 4. The problem started when the other 3 in the group ordered another round but said excluding me since I ordered a double margarita ($30) and was nursing it. The server brought all of us another round. Ok, I decided to have this 30 dollar mistake since it was Friday. It started raining so we came inside from the patio and sat at the bar, Our server quickly brought our tab and made us close out since we are at the bar now. Ok, no big deal but apparently the bartender was upset. He never asked us if there was anything we wanted but he did take one of the almost finished drinks. When we all reacted with a big ooohhhh, he promptly refilled the glass with just ice and put it back on the bar. What an A-hole to the nth degree. read more

Had a great experience here for dinner. Atmosphere is very cool, definitely a Euro flair and very chalet like. Service was prompt and friendly, our waitress was from Poland (her name is escaping me) and she was very helpful. The food was great. Corn bread & a bun for the table were tasty. I had the half rack of ribs, which were delicious & came with a huge helping of fries. Chicken pot pie was also very good and uniquely served. 'Small' salad was a very solid portion. Small beer selection but they had a couple good craft beers as well as a couple Euro staples. Would for sure recommend this place for the food, service, and ambience. Thanks for a nice evening! read more

Frequent here during ski season. This is mostly because they have a great happy hour for apres ski. I would recommend the mudslides! Only $4 and they sure do pack a punch. The appetizers are all great too. The truffle tots and spinach and artichoke dip are two of my all-time favs. read more

We have been to Bully Ranch maybe 3-4 times, and it always delivers the trademark Sonnenalp hotel excellent service with quality food. It's a pub atmosphere. They have a great value daily special for Vail - this past Friday, for $15 I had the fish and chips and draft beer. Substantial and very tasty! Kind of a gourmet dill tartar sauce which was good but I'm a traditionalist with my tartar and wish there'd been the standard one too. We also had a drink at the bar the next night was fun with a friendly and talented bartender. I'm not a cocktail drinker, but their mudslide was cool to try and its dangerously good. This may sound odd, but I also love their napkins. Kind of a maroon checkered. I tried to see if I could buy some (they have a hotel branded store where you can buy their tea cups, towels, etc) but no dice. You can get some other stuff though, as I mentioned. I mention this because it just seems like everything is so well designed and perfectly suited to the ambiance, that you want to take a piece of it home. At least I do! read more

Let's start with giving credit where credit is due. This place was packed and they had one bartender, Brian. We decided that after getting a seat at the bar to stay and not move to a table. This guy killed it. He was getting nailed with families (I didn't know kids could sit at a bar), bar utility mishaps, you name it... Yet he served us all top notch. We shared the shrimp tacos because portions are huge. With a side of guacamole ($4.50). My husbands 1st taco had 2 shrimp so he wasn't overly thrilled. But all in all they were really tasty. Bottom line, go check it out. Good mountain vibe and great service. read more

As others have noted, when you call to make a reservation, you are told they do not take reservations. Yet when you arrive, they ask if you have a reservation. You reply that you do not, they don't care, they do NOTHING. You have to wait well over an hour, or, leave and they say there's nothing they can do. After looking at the menu, it's overpriced and non inspiring. Good miss. read more
