Went in on a Wednesday at 7PM, we were able to get a table for two right away. There is seating indoor and outdoor but the outdoor seating isn't full service I was told only snacks are served outside. We ordered the Vodka all'arrabbiata pizza with pepperoni, the mixed greens, and the olive oil cake all were really good and the limited addition blanc crush white wine it was refreshing! Parking was very limited at the restaurant but there is neighborhood parking. Great service, very welcoming, kind and gave great recommendations on the wine!
There is a reason Bufalina is ranked #7 on Infatuations "Top 25: The Best Restaurants in Austin" Every dish I've tried there is delicious, namely the Caesar salad, the orecchiette pasta, multiple pizzas, and the ice cream coffee. I'd give all of them 5 stars. Small spot but vibe is lively, services is great and food is even better. Most recently I went on a Friday around 6:30 and got sat immediately (party of 2), but the other times we've gone and have had to wait it hasn't been terrible. They offer the option to get a drink while you wait there or you can grab on at lovebirds close by.
A couple friends and I visited Bufalina this week to wrap up a long work week. We decided on the Vodka Arrabiatta pizza w/sausage pizza, Caesar salad (huge), and the pappardelle w/ragu pasta. The salad was very large and we were not able to finish it between the 3 of us. The pizza wasn't my favorite and had a slight bitterness to it so I drizzled it in a bit of honey which helped balance the flavors out a bit. The pasta tasted homemade but the sauce was a bit too acidic for my liking. It took about 20-30 minutes to ultimately get our table (no reservations for our size group), and the overall ambiance was lively and homey. Our server wasn't the most engaging but did check up on us to fill water glasses periodically. It didn't take very long to get our meals which was also a plus. Parking in front of the restaurant was kind of limited around dinner time on a Friday, but I was able to find options in the adjacent neighborhood. While I didn't pay for the meal, my friend who did commented that there were added fees pre-tipping that surprised her (wellness fee? and a patio fee despite us deciding against sitting outside and moving back in). These added a significant amount to the final bill. Overall, Bufalina may be a good choice if you love the pizza, pasta, salad intersection and enjoy eating family style. Unfortunately none of the items we got were super tasty or the best I've had. Food: 3/5 Price: 3/5 Quality: 3/5
Bufalina Due has the best happy hour in Austin! Half off select bottles of wine and pizza, come here w a group and really get a bang for your buck! We ordered the house red and it was $2 off a glass. I enjoyed it, even as someone who prefers white. I highly recommend ordering both a pizza and pasta so you can have the best of both worlds. Everything is flavorful and cooked perfectly. Come here early! Limited parking and lines start up about 3:30-3:45, for the 4pm happy hour! Our server was excellent. The ambiance is busy and bustling. If you have a hard time hearing, this might not be the best place to catch up, music is loud and everything is concrete so a lot of noise bounces off.
Went for Friday Happy Hour and were told by friends to get there early before they open at 4pm. Glad we did! We were there at 3:15pm and although we were second in line, by 3:40pm the line was super long. Small place and once seated we were told we would have an hour and a half before we had to give up the table. I understand if you are just lingering, but if you are ordering food (which we did throughout the meal,) it felt like we were being rushed before we even looked at the menu. We had the mushroom pizza and the tomato pie. Loved the thin, NY style crust. The pizzas were very good. The stracciatella was perfect. The happy hour prices are great. We did splurge on the Caesar salad and although it was huge, it was an over sized salad at a price point of $18 ish. It was ok, it wasn't anything over the top but, we did have some to bring home. We split the cheesecake with friends and it also was good but, probably wouldn't get again. It was our first time there so we wanted to try things. Happy hour beer prices are good with the great selection. The staff was pleasant and on the ball. One thing is because it is small, it gets super loud. If you are looking for an intimate date night, I would say this isn't the place for a quiet dinner. But, if you are looking for value, good food and drink, stick to the happy hour menu and it is worth it.
Bufalina has one of the best happy hour and pizza combos in town! They don't take reservations, so I'd recommend arriving early if you want to avoid a long wait. That's what my group did and we were the third table seated right when they opened. From the very first slice the pizza was absolutely worth it. We were there for a special event with Austin Oyster Co., so naturally we ordered oysters and the clam pie. The clam pie was excellent, perfectly salty without being overpowering. We also got the pepperoni pizza, always a classic and even better since the pies are half-off during happy hour. Our bottle of white wine which was also half-off and paired perfectly with the food. They also offer wine by the glass, beer & non-alcoholic options so there's something for everyone. If you're on the east side and hungry, make Bufalina your next meal out you won't regret it!
I brought my girlfriend here for our anniversary, and now we're regulars. The pasta and pizza are both incredible. Honestly, this is probably the best pasta I've had in my eight years in the States. The staff are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and down to earth. We especially appreciate Weily. He's engaging, knowledgeable, and always makes the experience memorable. You truly can't go wrong with anything here. Five stars.
I'll start with the good. Best neopolitan pizzas in Austin. I am normally a red sauce pizza gal but I took the waitress' recommendation and ordered the lemon prosciutto pizza called Fresca and it was DELICIOUS. As good as pizzas I've had in Italy. The mozzarella, parm and perfectly chewy dough all came together harmoniously with the fresh zing of the lemon oil and arugula. Also got the Margherita with sausage added simply for more protein but next time I would not add sausage as it overpowered the pizza. It was still good though and I could taste the good quality of the ingredients. The ceasar salad is a must get. Perfectly dressed and huge in portion which I loved because I could eat it with my pizza as well as nibble on it as a starter. Food overall was a 5/5 Ambiance however was a 3/5 bc it was SO LOUD inside. The space is cozy and lively but they could really use some kind of improvement in the sound acoustics. It was also slightly warm inside, probably because the pizza oven is heating up the place. The service was also meh--the waitresses all seem like they're in a hurry and look like they do not want to be there.
Might be the best happy hour deal that I've gone to. Half off bottles of wine and pizza. It's a cute intimate space and was pretty full when we got there around 5pm on a Monday. We ordered a bottle of chenin blanc with the help of our server, bread & butter, red pie (add pepperoni), and the mushroom pizza. Everything was done well and had enough food for 2 days of leftovers! Will definitely return for the happy hour.
I'm between 3-4 stars for this place because I loved the pizza but the service was not 4 stars. We loved the mushroom pizza. It was the absolute perfect blend of toppings in my opinion. They serve a Neapolitan-style pizza --perfectly blistered crust, high-quality ingredients, and a menu that knows how to keep things simple and stellar. But the service? It borders on indifferent, and was timed not for our convenience but theirs. I was still chewing my last bite when they cleared the plates and they wiped the table while I was still eating though my partner had finished. You'll get your food, but don't expect warmth or much patience with questions. Still, the pizza is solidly delicious. Come for the pie, not the hospitality.
This is the best pizza I've had in Austin so far! Loved the margherita pizza! My friend and I visited for happy hour on a weekday and the pizza and wine was half off. We shared a margherita pizza and it had the perfect crunch from the woodfired pizza oven. My favorite type of pizza! We tried a bottle of red wine that was slightly chilled, and I really loved it! Especially on a hot Austin day. Service was great although they do try to move you along so the next group can take your table since it's always so busy. We got there right at 4 and there was no wait on a weekday. I was greeted right at the door and the host was so nice and welcoming. I can't wait to go back for full dinner and to try that caesar salad stacked with cheese! 5 stars! They also have a few parking spots right outside.
Best pizza in Austin including happy hour prices ?! It can't be beat. Service is fantastic as always and it's always lovely and lively inside! Strongly recommend
Good and bad here. Went here on a Friday night. The wait was about 1.5 hours for 5 people. We were reassured that they were closing out the party but unfortunately they decided to baby their wine for 45 minutes after they closed their bill so I can't be mad at the establishment, but it's annoying. Our waitress had some pretty bad vibes considering I was pretty happy to be sat after some patron that watched us wait the entire time gave us $40 for drinks (thanks man, you're awesome even though my nephew with me wasn't of age yet). Their wine list was a good selection too. But if it weren't for the fact that all 5 of us felt bad vibes from her, I would've dismissed it. I'd say skip the pasta and pick the pizza here. My prosciutto and arugula pizza was good and had a great cheese pull. Red pie with pepperoni was pretty good, I think the pepperonis themself were actually really great! But somehow the best part was the Caesar salad with a side of anchovies. That is a MUST. But I'm not someone that hopes to go to a pizza place for their salad to be the best part. Their bread and butter was pretty lackluster. Am I itching to come here again? Nah. But I at least had a great salad.

Bufalina did it again! The pepperoni mushroom pizza was SO good. I've had red pie, calabrese and Fresca pie and now I'm adding this to the list. They're all sooooo good but this one with the ranch really hit the spot. You can't go wrong with anything you get at Bufalina read more
Welcome back, Bufalina! Overall, a super solid dining destination - I love the Neapolitan pizzas, wine options and fresh bread with butter. You really can't go wrong with any of the dishes. I usually try to pick one red sauce and one white sauce based selection and they shine in both styles. If it was just about the food, it would be a 5/5 for me but there are some elements that aren't my favorite - the seating, noise level and wait time. Communal seating is the norm, there are several six-seater picnic-style seats and only a handful of two or four seaters available. It is a very cozy dining experience and we had to play tetris with our and our neighbors' dishes to make it all fit on the table. If visiting during prime dinner hours, be prepared to wait upwards of an hour. There's some seating outside and the option to have a drink which helps pass the time. read more
Go during HAPPY HOUR!!! They have happy hour from 4:00pm- 5:30pm and all the pizzas are half off! Very important to get there at 4pm sharp because it gets really busy really fast. The inside isn't too big so there's a wait time. Thankfully we were sat immediately (only 2 people) but soon after we noticed a lot of people waiting outside. We ordered the Margherita pizza and it was only $8! Pizzas are 12 inches. They also have a deal going on for bottles under $100. The pizza was amazing!!! It was really tasty and cooked perfectly. It came out pretty fast as well. I'm very happy we chose to get lunch here and it was definitely worth it especially for the price. Otherwise, the pizzas are more on the higher end. If I'm ever in Austin again and craving good pizza I'll come back here! read more

From the quality of food, wine and experience this place is 5 stars no doubt. We were traveling with our dogs and they were so gracious to have us on their patio. 10/10 recommend the margarita pizza and the Groll and Roll wine. read more

You just really can't beat this happy hour. Bufalina is so good, but their happy hour makes it so much better. $20 pizza for $10? Yes, please! $56 bottle of Tempranillo for $28? Hell yeah! Now that the Caesar Chavez spot is open, we came here to check it out. Same cozy vibe as the Burnet location, just a little larger. There are a few parking spots in the front and the sides, but like the 4pm happy hour, they fill up quickly. I was disappointed that there weren't as many pizzas options as the north one, specifically the mushroom and pickle pizza were not available. They are starting off small, as our waiter put it, and still figuring a few things out. The wine list, on the other hand, is extensive at a whopping 60 pages!! I always order 3 pizzas bc I like to take home the leftover. The Fresca is still my favorite, but the standout last night was the goat cheese and honey pizza. Wow, just a perfectly balanced, subtle sweetness and creaminess. Really, I don't think you can go wrong with any of their pies. It definitely feels right. read more

I showed up for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon and was immediately seated. Both pizzas were delicious but definitely on the more expensive side for pizza. I would 100% say it was worth the price. The flavors, ingredients, and quality were so good. I really enjoyed both the Caprese and the Fresca pizzas. The Fresca truly was refreshing with the lemon in it and it contrasted nicely with the heartier Caprese pizza. They had some cool funky music playing and the servers were definitely enjoying and dancing a little which was fun to see. Parking at the time was also pretty easy and there were a couple spots open at the front. I'll definitely be back for their happy hour where pizzas and bottles of wine are 50% off. read more

Bufalina is back on the east side of Austin and has the same old, delicious oven! Pizzas were still great, fresh ingredients and full of flavor. The new location is small and you feel it more than the previous. Intimate but tight. Apparently there are 400 types of wine, buy only 4 non-alcoholic beverage options. I'd love to see an expansion of the latter list. But I'll always come back for the pizza! read more

Maybe an controversial opinion - this is the best restaurant in Austin. Skip the BBQ and get yourself some Bufalina. From start to finish, this place more than surpassed my expectations. Pizzas are perfectly legit Neopolitan with that beautiful leopard crust, yet holds the ingredients well. Pastas and salads are also thoughtfully executed, with a fantastic and diverse wine selection - paired with NA options for those who choose not to imbibe. Bread is also fantastic with a huge spread of butter on the side that rivals that served at The French Laundry. No jokes. Lastly, don't sleep on the chocolate mousse. That olive oil and maldon salt on top of the chantilly is to die for. Ill be thinking about this place for awhile. read more
Bufalina finally reopened its East Cesar Chavez location this week, just a bit further east down the road off Mildred by Juan in a Million. There are a decent amount of parking spots available as well. I didn't get a chance to try it before it relocated so I was excited to come by when a friend suggested it. To start, we had the suppli (carnaroli rice, mozzarella, chili oil), which are similar to arancini, just oblong shaped. It was well fried, crispy and not oily, and so much steam comes out when you cut into it. The cheeses used were flavorful and really made the dish. We then tried the pansotti stuffed pasta (ricotta, walnut pesto, fennel pollen, pecorino), which was a solid dish. You could taste the walnuts in the fresh pesto, and the pasta had good texture. For pizza, we tried two: - guanciale (mozzarella, parm, black pepper, red onion) - guanciale is pork jowl, which I love and was always my favorite BBQ cut to get from Fette Sau in Williamsburg or really any Korean BBQ place that has it. This was a white pie, and the flavors felt reminiscent of a carbonara. Honestly, I love red onion and it's one of my favorite toppings so no surprise that it was my favorite part of this pizza. - anchovy (cherry tomato, mozzarella, black olive, basil) - I originally thought this would have a red sauce because the traditional pizza napoli I've had has it. I love anchovies and these are bright, salty, and garlicky, made even moreso with the olives. However, the sparse cherry tomatoes and sips of wine are your only break from the salt, so I still think I was missing the red sauce. Overall, I really enjoyed this pizza but it's hard to have more than a slice or two in one sitting. For wine, we welcomed any and all suggestions and went with what the staff seemed most excited about - because I always believe that love of food is infectious in wanting to share that experience and flavor with others. We started with a white, then a red, and finished with a refreshing and interesting bubbly digestif in lieu of dessert. The space is cozy, intimate, and the ambience and mood felt like I was back in NYC having a great dinner with friends. I had forgotten also, how much I love pizza with wine. This was a normal thing when I was living in NYC but since moving to Austin, I would just grab a slice at Home Slice or indulge in Detroit style pizza from Via 313 or Jet's, which I at most had beer or cocktails with. But Bufalina gently reminded me that there is truly nothing sexier than Neapolitan pizza paired with wine at night in dim lighting. UPDATE: I came back again with some other friends and tried the Red Pie (tomato, double garlic, double parm, chili flake, oregano) and the Goat Cheese and Pistachio (goat cheese, mozzarella, pistachio, honey, red onion) and they are not to be missed. The red sauce I was craving from my first visit gave it to me in spades with the sweet, spicy, savory full flavored red pie. The goat cheese pizza achieved sweet and savory harmony. The goat cheese was mellowed out with the honey accompanied by the spicy bite from the red onion, as well as texture from the pistachio. Both pizzas have easily become my new favorites. read more
Meatball pizza and Caesar salad were delicious. Got there at 4:00 for happy hour but they couldn't seat me until my dinner companion arrived. He was circling the area trying to find parking. When he arrived we were told the wait would be 30 minutes which it was. Took forever to get the pizza and when the bill arrived we did not get happy hour prices. read more

We ordered the Fresca and tellagio pizzas, bread & butter with a glass of rose. The food was seriously amazing, and I plan on taking my friends there next weekend. Though we waited an hour to be sat, and weren't greeted for around 7 minutes -- which is a lot when you're very hungry. Someone else noticed we were without water, and became our server. The original server never greeted us after appetizer arrived, which left a mark as she took over the billing when we finished eating. I give a 4/5 for that reason. read more

There was a lot of anticipation for the reopening of Bufalina and I have to say it was well worth the wait. Showed up during happy hour on a Friday. The restaurant was full but we were lucky enough to not have to wait for a table. Our server was laidback, but helpful. Gave us time to look at the menu, but when asked for recommendations he was not too helpful. We ended up getting the stracciatella and two pizzas: the guanciale and the calabrese. The stracciatella was pretty much the stuff fairytales are made of. Every bite was perfection and it was the perfect start to a great dining experience. I did not care for the calabrese pizza. The tomato made it a bit wet and soggy. The guanciale was superb. I'd definitely have it again and again. I wish we would have tried one of their pastas, but it's a great excuse to go back. read more

I did not expect a new pizza joint to become of of my top Austin faves. You have to eat the stracciatella - omg I have to order a second every time. Pastas are top notch and the pizzas are fire. Highly recommend and the prices are reasonable, if not cheap for the quality. Service has been fun and attentive every visit too read more
