Went in on a Wednesday at 7PM, we were able to get a table for two right away. There is seating indoor and outdoor but the outdoor seating isn't full service I was told only snacks are served outside. We ordered the Vodka all'arrabbiata pizza with pepperoni, the mixed greens, and the olive oil cake all were really good and the limited addition blanc crush white wine it was refreshing! A couple friends and I visited Bufalina this week to wrap up a long work week. We decided on the Vodka Arrabiatta pizza w/sausage pizza, Caesar salad (huge), and the pappardelle w/ragu pasta. The salad was very large and we were not able to finish it between the 3 of us. The pizza wasn't my favorite and had a slight bitterness to it so I drizzled it in a bit of honey which helped balance the flavors out a bit. The pasta tasted homemade but the sauce was a bit too acidic for my liking. It took about 20-30 minutes to ultimately get our table (no reservations for our size group), and the overall ambiance was lively and homey. Our server wasn't the most engaging but did check up on us to fill water glasses periodically. It didn't take very long to get our meals which was also a plus. Parking in front of the restaurant was kind of limited around dinner time on a Friday, but I was able to find options in the adjacent neighborhood. While I didn't pay for the meal, my friend who did commented that there were added fees pre-tipping that surprised her (wellness fee? and a patio fee despite us deciding against sitting outside and moving back in). These added a significant amount to the final bill. Overall, Bufalina may be a good choice if you love the pizza, pasta, salad intersection and enjoy eating family style. Bufalina Due has the best happy hour in Austin! Half off select bottles of wine and pizza, come here w a group and really get a bang for your buck! We ordered the house red and it was $2 off a glass. I enjoyed it, even as someone who prefers white. I highly recommend ordering both a pizza and pasta so you can have the best of both worlds. Everything is flavorful and cooked perfectly. Come here early! Limited parking and lines start up about 3:30-3:45, for the 4pm happy hour! Our server was excellent. The ambiance is busy and bustling. My favorite pizza spot on the east side!! Happy Hour (4-5:30pm) is half off select bottles of wine and pizzas! Definitely show up right at 4 if you are wanting to dine during happy hour because there is limited seating and they don't take reservations. Not the best spot to take a group larger than 4-6 people as their seating is mostly for smaller parties of 2-4. That's what my group did and we were the third table seated right when they opened. From the very first slice the pizza was absolutely worth it. We were there for a special event with Austin Oyster Co., so naturally we ordered oysters and the clam pie. The clam pie was excellent, perfectly salty without being overpowering. We also got the pepperoni pizza, always a classic and even better since the pies are half-off during happy hour. Our bottle of white wine which was also half-off and paired perfectly with the food. I am normally a red sauce pizza gal but I took the waitress' recommendation and ordered the lemon prosciutto pizza called Fresca and it was DELICIOUS. As good as pizzas I've had in Italy. The mozzarella, parm and perfectly chewy dough all came together harmoniously with the fresh zing of the lemon oil and arugula. Also got the Margherita with sausage added simply for more protein but next time I would not add sausage as it overpowered the pizza. It was still good though and I could taste the good quality of the ingredients. The ceasar salad is a must get. Perfectly dressed and huge in portion which I loved because I could eat it with my pizza as well as nibble on it as a starter. Food overall was a 5/5 Ambiance however was a 3/5 bc it was SO LOUD inside. The space is cozy and lively but they could really use some kind of improvement in the sound acoustics. This place was suggested to us by a chef that owns his own restaurant in Austin. So of course we trust that recommendation. Small place so it gets packed quick. We got a ton of stuff to share and man was it spectacular. Everything is for sharing. We started with the olives and glazed nuts. Such a good combo. Salads are large. They serve a Neapolitan-style pizza --perfectly blistered crust, high-quality ingredients, and a menu that knows how to keep things simple and stellar. But the service? It borders on indifferent, and was timed not for our convenience but theirs. Bufalina is so much more than pizza. They gave a couple of pasta dishes and I really like their take on cacio e pepe. They use cavatelli with Parmesan cheese and pecorino cheese with black pepper. The pasta holds the gooey cheese in place so you're getting big bursts of flavor in each bite. The red crumb pizza is amazeballs! Good and bad here. Went here on a Friday night. The wait was about 1.5 hours for 5 people. We were reassured that they were closing out the party but unfortunately they decided to baby their wine for 45 minutes after they closed their bill so I can't be mad at the establishment, but it's annoying. Our waitress had some pretty bad vibes considering I was pretty happy to be sat after some patron that watched us wait the entire time gave us $40 for drinks (thanks man, you're awesome even though my nephew with me wasn't of age yet). Their wine list was a good selection too. But if it weren't for the fact that all 5 of us felt bad vibes from her, I would've dismissed it. I'd say skip the pasta and pick the pizza here. Went to Bufalina for happy hour for the first time and I can't believe I've slept on this deal for so long. Happy hour is from 4 PM to 530 every day of the week. We arrived a few minutes before 4 PM and were among the first few groups to get seated. This is probably the key because the happy hour is so short. All wine bottles below $100 or half off all pizzas are half off which is quite a steal. We ordered the mushroom and the potato pizza and I would definitely get them again. Mid place for the price point. It was hard making a reservation days prior and the waitress was misleading with availability. We called for a 7pm reservation same day and when we arrived the store was closed for private event. However, inside is very small and well decorated. All the entrees are a $20 -$30. Bufalina, located close to downtown and Ceasar Chavez, is well decorated with a moder touch and the pizza oven is right next to the dining space which looked peculiar. You could literally see them tossing the dough in the air. My order: Red pie Mushroom Pizza House Rose Kolsh beer Loved the Red pie. The base tomato sauce was excellent accompanied by thinly sliced garlic. It came with parmesan and chili flakes so you don't need them as sides. This was my favorite. The mushroom pizza was an opposite with a creamy white sauce with mozarella and troves of caramelized onions and pickles. It depends on who you're, they have a pizza in accordance. Draft beers had $2 off and my beer was just $6. We got to dine at the community table but luckily it was empty until we left. No-brainer to visit this place during a happy hour, which is everyday from 4-5:30PM. Bufalina has been around a long time but I have never had the chance to try it before, but I am glad I did this time! We came for a friend's birthday, and were lucky enough that they had a spot available (the wait after would've been 30+ minutes for sure). We ordered a few things to share between us: Bread and Butter - The butter was beautifully whipped and the bread was so light and fluffy. A very good starter, I would recommend saving the leftover butter for the pizza crust (or perhaps just ordering the butter on the side if that even is an option. Caesar Salad - one of the best Caesar's I've had in a while. Perfectly tossed, with an abundance of anchovy flavor (which is a must for a Caesar salad). Red Pie Pizza (with Pepperonis) - This one was most recommended. I thought it was great, but I think we should've ordered one without pepperonis (instead of two with). The pepperonis were excellent, but I think they overpowered any of the other flavor. I was really hoping to get more of a double garlic flavor but didn't. Calabrese Pizza - honestly, just a good pizza. I didn't find anything special about this one flavor-wise. Fresca Pizza - Definitely my favorite! Usually I'm not big on pizza without red sauce, but the lemon and arugula really works well on this pizza. I've had similar pizzas to this one before and have always enjoyed it, and this experience was no different from the other times. The space is pretty small and intimate, so I would recommend getting a reservation ahead of time to avoid long wait times (or hope that you get lucky). Went there for a pre celebration and was so disappointed in Bufalina's Neapolitan pizza quality and customer services. If you don't have product nor customer services, what do you have? Yesterday, June 1st, we went there for nostalgic reason and caught the pizza Happy Hour like most customer at 4pm and was sat in the first round. Knowing how crazy it can get we went and ordered our first pizza ( margherita), salad and a beer for each when they came around for drink orders. We got our beer and salad and I added on another pizza (Calabrese) and the party next to us finally got their order placed around the same time. 50 mins in and we still have not gotten our first or second pizza but our neighbor got all three of theirs and almost finished their 3 pizza while we didn't get our first? Doesnt make sense right? So I caught the attention of a blond lady with light linen top and she came over to ask if I need anything, I started with "I had order two pizza and still have not seen it " then she cut me off and said everyone order more than two pizza and turn around and walk off. Wow I was shocked at the rude attitude and what happen to customer services??? How about, let me go check on it? Nope, none of that...just walk off with the rude statement like I'm getting the pizza for free and need to have patience. The Calabrese came to the table about 10 mins after that interaction and we have to wave down our waitress to ask where our first pizza order was, the Margherita? She went and check and said its in the oven right now and should come out shortly. Mind you this is already an hour after placing the order. Neapolitan pizza doesn't take that long and something was not right and they didn't own up to it nor apologize. For the pizza, Neapolitan, known for a soft, thin, slightly chewy crust with a raised edge, a delicate balance of flavors, and a focus on the quality of the ingredients. Bufalina missed the mark. If you look around and most plates have left over crust and the crust is hard and not puffy and chewy then its no longer Neapolitan. Video attached on the texture and consistency of the pizza order yesterday. When we discovered Bufalina a few years back, the crust and the ingredient was exactly that. We had wine while we waited for our table and then split a pizza and Caesar salad. The salad was quite large and we were not hungry at all when we left. I just wish we had room for dessert. Came in for Sunday HH and arrived just before 5 and was seated just before HH ended. I recommend to those trying to get to HH to get here on the earlier side as it gets really busy. The stand out was the Caesar salad and mushroom Pizza. The salad can easily be split with two people and has a nice lemon note in the dressing. The mushroom pizza was a hit even for those that normally do not like mushrooms in our group. The Margherita pizza was very good as well. This is absolutely one of the best pizzas, if not the best pizza in town. The salads are equally good. Always very fresh. I love the seasonal salad that changes, obviously, with the season but subtly. There's a nice selection of wine and they actually have one of the only house reds of any restaurant in town that I actually enjoy. I believe it is currently a Syrah and I am not a Syrah fan as a rule. It is a very well curated wine menu, overall. I cannot speak to the pasta because I can't seem to pull myself away from the pizza and salad during the multiple visits but plan to very soon. There is actual parking on site, albeit, small. The only place where they don't really step up is the ambience and size of the place is very small so it can be difficult to get in quickly during the busy hours. The portions are super small. The pasta size was more like an appetizer. While I do like the pasta, it doesn't amaze me. Because it was my first time, I asked what the popular pizza was and the server recommended red pie. I didn't really enjoy it and if I weren't sharing, I couldn't bring myself to finish the whole pizza. The pizza is just like sour tomatoes. I wouldn't get it again. The crust is too thin and the burnt parts don't taste very good. I do like the candles on the table. They have parking available. Got some fresh, fluffy pies from a bougie pizzeria. They're $20 a pie (jaw drop), but if you go during happy hour, they're half off! At the César Chávez location, chefs make your pizza in front of you. We tried pepperoni and garlic but much preferred the white sauce with jalapeño and corn. The pizza dough was incredible, though the flavors could be improved; they felt a bit basic for the price. To top off the carbs, the super fresh strawberry sorbet with olive oil and flaky sea salt was a perfect finish. read more
