Since I'm from California, I might be a little biased? Or maybe not, but I didn't really think Bubble World was great. It was good enough to fulfill a craving though. Haven't been in Canada for a week yet, but I've tried the Green Tea Matcha, Passion Fruit Green Tea with boba, Peach Green Tea, Lychee Green Tea with boba and grass jelly, and Earl Grey Milk Tea with red bean. -The green tea's were ok, I liked the Lychee one the most because it wasn't too sweet or dense compared to the Passion Fruit or Peach...it straight up tasted like syrup! It didn't really taste like tea at all. It was so weird... -The Green Tea Matcha slush was ok too. I thought it was an ice cream series? Shouldn't it tate somewhat milky with a good amount of Matcha? It tasted like powder more than anything else. -The Earl Grey milk tea was pretty good, but the red bean? It really is JUST RED BEANS! I don't know about you, but when you drink or eat something sweet, wouldn't you expect it to be the dessert red bean, instead of regular red bean? I also asked if they had egg pudding, but the waitress just looked at me like I was stupid...so I guess they don't have it! Overall, my experience was all right. Worst service ever, The server is so rude, We arrived around 7pm Dec 13, there are alot of open table, this server approaches without greeting us, She just said for two sit here! and I ask her if we can sit on the other table she just walk toward to the table that I requested and throw the menu in the table. I was so shock why she did that' and keep tossing the utensils behind my friend and she look so mad! I ask her co-worker if they have mangers on duty she said non. That server keep on talking at the back and ignore us, she not eve give us a water. My point is if she don't wanna work in this kind of industry better to leave than showing that rudeness act! I visited Bubble World last night with a group of friends. I haven't come here in over a year and I clearly remember why: the service is terrible. The waitresses are rude and do not do their job properly. They did not come to check up on us when we needed napkins and a menu. My friend asked for a sauce and it came 10 min later. The servers run around like their head is chopped off and ignore the customers. I will not be returning and they have again raised their menu prices. The saltery peppery chicken nuggets was once $5.95 and has now been raised to $7.95 and the portions seem to have gotten smaller. Next time we will be going to Bubble 88 in Surrey Central read more

The food is good but service was below average. Let's start with the food. I ordered the fish filet, kimchi fried rice, and chicken nuggets. The fish filet and chicken nuggets were both flavourful and crispy without being too oily. The kimchi fried rice was tasty but small in portion compared to other similar restaurants. The bubble tea I ordered was the aloe Vera green tea with grass jelly and aloe Vera bits and it was really good, quite sweet but I didn't mind it. It had a very refreshing taste to it. Unfortunately the service here is never very good. I never expect much when I go to busy places like this one but at bubble world they are consistently dismal. Hard to flag down a waitress and they always seem annoyed when you have questions or ask for things (ex. A glass of water or extra sauce) etc. But other than that food is good and it's a good place to get your bbt fix. read more

I don't know why this location is flagged as closed when really, they're just closed for renovations. I walked past a few times during their renovation & it looked really nice inside. About time they renewed this place, their couches with so ripped up & they had webs of dust all over their ceiling. A worker told me they will be reopening sometime between May 11th-13th, I'm excited because I miss their bubble tea drinks! I love getting their black pepper beef stir fried noodles, beef soup noodle, pork & chive dumplings, deep friend squid feet, & Hawaiian fried rice with ketchup. Seems to me they give a bigger portion for dine-in customers because when I get take-outs it's always 2/3rd of what I would get in the restaurant. Good food all in all. Love the fried squid feet!!! You can get it as a appetizer or in a meal set which always come with rice and two random side dishes of the day. Hubby love the beef tendon and brisket pot with eggplant. Spicy beef noodle is one of my favorite, very traditionally done. Pretty much all their food is great. The bubble tea isn't anything too special or anything. The only thing that's a bit annoying is the music too loud. read more

Place is always busy. Last year, I ordered 2 taro bubble teas to go so I sat and waited for 30 minutes for it. I see people coming in after me ordering bubble tea drinks and they seems to get theirs first before mine even tho I was there before them. No one called my number and I never left the restaurant! In the middle of my waiting time I saw the server she places a Togo bag on the shelf behind the front desk but she never called it. So I waited and waited for my number to be called not until I ask the girl did my order come in yet coz I've been waiting for 30 mins and I was pregnant that time ! So I was very impatient and hungry ! The girl checked the bag and said it's been sitting here for a while and I asked her why didn't anybody call my number out when it was ready ?! I through a fit and demanded my money back for waiting so long when my drink was ready 20 mins ago!! A year later, i order 2 drinks again to go and they made me wait for 40 mins !!! I'm never coming back here again! Slow service for a fast pace environment! And when eating in, the servers never ask you in between meals if everything is okay or we need anything. They just drop our food and leave and never check up on you. And they expect a tip? They need to earn it! read more

This place was the best around 2006 to 2008. They had a special that changed every now and then, where you can buy an entree and bubble tea for a lower price. At one point, the side dishes with rice included soup, but they stopped doing that. Now the food is not perfect but certainly not bad either. Sometimes the rice seems to have been microwaved and is rather hard, but usually the sauces make up for it. I recommend the Fried Fish w/ rice or noodle soup, spicy pork blood and intestine with rice (may sound disgusting to some people but tastes amazing). The potstickers, fried tofu, squid rings and takoyaki are appetizers that I recommend. Since the recession the price of the food has increased substantially, and the portions have decreased. I remember when beef noodles were in a big bowl, but now they put it in a much smaller bowl. I recommend Beef noodle as it's my favourite dish but its quality can be variable. Originally the beef noodle had a "sweeter" taste due to the fat of the beef, and it relied on doban jan (a soybean paste) for flavour. Often I asked to make it spicy and they either gave me sriracha or they put VERY SPICY chilli powder in the soup. The beef was really fatty but sometimes it was stiff. At one point, around 2006, they even put beef tendon in which was amazing. Nowadays, "spicy beef noodle" is a separate and more expensive dish, and the flavour now relies on Ning Chi Spicy Hot Pot Sauce, and they now only have thin (like linguine) noodles. (they used to have really thick, Fettucine-like noodles) The soup, spicy or normal, is often really salty. Nowadays they use beef shank (with the veins inside) which tends to be much more tender. There are some times when some pieces still get tough though. Same goes for the new item "beef tendon with eggplant". One time the tendon is tender while the next time it is stiff. These inconsistencies are very disappointing. As for drinks, I like to get slushies so I can slowly drink it. The bubble milk tea is great but it can become oversweetened, especially pudding, which uses the very orange powder, compared to other places which use a light yellow powder (I prefer the yellow one). For milk tea I would recommend strawberry (which is made from real strawberry syrup from a Canadian supplier and not some fake syrup or powder with plasticizer in the onset of the food scandal in Taiwan), green apple and pomegranate. I think the green and black teas are better though, as well as fruit tea which you can get hot (real fruits inside) or cold (I think it's either passion fruit or kumquat tea but with more "fruitiness"). I also recommend for slushies: pina colada, ice cream slush, strawberry mix, mixed berry slush, and kiwi slush. They don't have frog eggs - "lemon slush with pearls" but they have a "lemon jelly" juice drink. I wasn't particularly fond of it as it was sour and the jelly was meh. Service is good most of the time, but there are some waitresses who are rather mean and impatient at times. read more

Horrible customer service. The store is cash only (I wonder why) and as I was visiting from the U.S. I didn't have Canadian cash. So, when I entered I asked the waitress if I could pay with U.S. cash. The waitress said I could and that they would convert my U.S. money to Canadian money at the current rate of 1.3 CDN/US. So when the bill came, I calculated how much U.S. cash it would cost to pay the bill plus a generous tip. However, then the restaurant said that they could only accept my U.S. dollars on par with Canadian dollars with no conversion. Essentially, the restaurant wanted me to pay 30% more even though the waitress confirmed she would convert my U.S. money at the prevailing exchange rate. A complete ripoff. read more

It's was definitely my favorite bubble tea place until this incident. Although the bubble tea is good the service there isn't that great. I'd have great waitresses most of the time, but a few days ago I had a bad experience again. I made quite a large take out order for bubble tea and the waitress didn't double check, which was fine. I opened it up and she got 2 of the teas wrong, which also didn't bother be since people make mistakes. I went back to ask if they could fix it and all she gave me was attitude. I used to like this place and I have been going there for a few years now occasionally. I have found each time I have went there it just got worse. I knew they didn't have the best service all the time and I am okay with that if it is busy. Most of their food now is mediocre (stay away from anything squid ALWAYS overcooked chewy). But this time it just went over the top for me. First of all there was a rock in my food. Yes a ROCK. I almost chipped my tooth biting on it and I could have choked on it. I asked the waitress for some help and I had to flag her down but she just ignored me for a long time until our whole table had to wave their hands which was embarrassing. She eventually came over and I explained that there was a rock in my food. She didn't apologize and acted as if I was just another annoying customer complaining. Seriously, it's a decent sized rock. In any other restaurant they would apologize and refund the meal. She barely cared and she just said "do you want a replacement?" I said okay because I was really hungry. She JUST took the main meat dish and brought it back. Not the rice or any of the other side dishes. So after waiting 10-15 mins she came and threw the dish on the table and didn't say anything and I had cold hard rice with my "new" dish. After that incident, both waitresses ignored us the whole night. The thing is, my friend had a allergic reaction to a peanut. It wasn't serious but his mouth gets itchy and dry. He needed water badly and they seriously WOULD NOT GIVE US WATER. We literally asked them for water 5 times and they brushed it off and walked away. My friend just went to the washroom and rinsed his mouth. I seriously do not recommend this restaurant anymore. This has been the last straw, their standards have dropped. They have sanitation and quality control issues that need to be addressed but have been ignored for too long. PS: I just asked a few of my friends who go here a lot and one of them has found a rock in their food also. I will post picture links below.
