a plate of fried seafood and rice

Had dinner with other 3 friends at this location and we we're happy with our experienced. The restaurant is not very busy for dine-in but very busy with mobile order pickup. The place was huge and cozy. Staff are friendly and acknowledged you very quick when you needed something. All the foods we've ordered are very good. The squid tentacles and beef noodles are my favorite and of course the bubble tea.

Mostly anyone who loves bubble tea is probably familiar with Bubble World. I was invited to the New Westminster location and the dishes that I tried didn't disappoint. My sister and I especially enjoyed the beef soup. The soup is seasoned well but the beef is the highlight. It was so tender. We also liked the salt and pepper chicken nuggets. They were crispy, delicious and they were not greasy at all. They have tons of bubble tea to choose from and I think their bubble teas are cheaper compared to others but the taste and quality of their drinks can compete with the more expensive ones that I've tried. My sister had the green tea with cream foam and she loved it. I had the pina colada which is so refreshing especially with the additional toppings, of jelly, boba, and pudding. Also, they are one of the few bubble tea shops that still have the coffee jelly topping. They let us taste different toppings and we loved them. The manager mentioned that their pudding topping is made from scratch. If you are in the New West area, try this place. It's a short walk from the train station.

If you miss the food in Southeast Asia, this is probably one of the places to head to for something close to it. I love the chicken nugget (or popcorn chicken as called in Singapore). Deep fried and crispy, it goes very well with the house garlic sauce. I also like the simple noodle soup with minced meat and egg. This place will be perfect if they also serve chili like those found in Asia. This will be one of my regular places when I have craving for Taiwanese style noodle soup and fried chicken nuggets.

Salty peppery chicken nuggets. My fav!

I'm a big fan of this Bubble World location. The parking situation is slightly better here, especially late at night. It's also less crowded and quieter. I've never been disappointed with the food here (or any Bubble World location for that matter). The food is always consistent, arrives quickly and offer good value for the price. I'm a huge fan of the salty peppery chicken nuggets, but so far everything I've tried has been great. I find the service here better than the Metrotown location. We are always greeted and seated promptly, and our orders were taken quickly. Will continue to visit frequently! Open until midnight is a plus too!

Original milk tea - tasted more like milk than milk tea and the pearls were more mushy than chewy

Disclaimer: This review is limited to just the quality of the bubble tea. We didn't try any food options at the restaurant, and just ordered take out for the drinks. My family and I drove to Vancouver all the way from Southern California, and back home we call our bubble tea "boba" so the change in language was definitely very interesting. I've visited some of the best bubble tea spots in SoCal so my standards for bubble tea are pretty high... Bubble world was my introduction to Canadian "bubble tea." It was the nearest bubble tea spot near my cousin's place in New Westminster so we decided to give it a shot. They have a pretty roomy space and a very wide selection of drinks. I was actually surprised at how many drinks they had to offer compared to most other shops that I've been to back home. They even had Papaya Milk Tea, which I've never heard of before. Initially, I wanted to try out their green milk tea, but I ended up ordering their Osmanthus Oolong - one of my all time favorite flavors back home. I was surprised they had that option. I was so excited to try their drinks! I gotta admit though, I was a little disappointed with everything. Their Osmanthus Oolong tasted so plain, almost like the standard "gas station" black tea. The worst part was the quality of their pearls. They we're not chewy at all, and I bit through them so easily. They felt more like a sticky mush, than a chewy treat. Their pearls even had this strange "sour" aftertaste. The real test was trying out their original milk tea. My brother ordered it and I took quite a few sips to try it out. Their milk tea tasted nothing like anything I've had before - in a bad way. You couldn't taste any hint of tea at all, and it felt like all I was drinking was milk. For a place that specializes in bubble tea, I expected so much more. Maybe their food tastes better? Maybe I'll have to try out their other flavors? After my first experience, I don't plan on giving it a second chance.

One of my favorite places for bubble tea, well fresh fruit slush in my case. Nice atmosphere for a group gathering, or checking out your phone with the house wifi. Oh and be sure to try salty chicken balls (yup they are a thing)

Raspberry slush $5.25
Ally S.

Got the raspberry slush ($5.50 after tax). You get a huge glass, it was tasty and I did like that it had real raspberries. I usually don't care for cold drinks, and although you do get your money's worth, I don't care for it enough to get it again. I'd most likely try a different flavour, but not any time soon.

Just raised prices by $2 per item by now making you pay for rice and side dishes that were previously included in all meals. Kind of lame.

First time trying Micha and it was great! We took advantage…read moreof their combo meal for 2 and got chicken nuggets, lamb stir fry and 3 braided veggies I love a beef roll and this one was great also got the 2:1 drink deal as well. The interior is big, clean and modern decor. Menu is big with delicious options and reasonable prices. Food also came out quickly! My only feedback would be is if they had some photos on their menu to be more clear as to what the dishes are and how they are prepared.

What's appealing here is that their Instagram advertises daily specials so you can get some dishes for a great discount (like 40% off). We tried the braised combo (pork ear, pork intestines, fish cake), Taiwanese egg wrap, braised pork sauce rice with deep fried pork chop, and yam taro mochi balls. The braised combo is pretty solid - I didn't really like the funkiness to the intestines (I generally enjoyed it in barbecue settings) but the fish cake was fantastic. I also liked the texture of the pork ears. The Taiwanese egg wrap was a bit tasteless, so I wouldn't recommend. Braised pork sauce rice is the lu ruo fan which is a large portion with seaweed, bean sprouts, and soup on the side. Pork chop was flavorful and juicy but not crispy batter, which is okay. Yam taro mochi balls were sweet and chewy. I don't like taro but I loved this dessert! Service is okay. They give a water jug for self pour but the water jug was of questionable cleanliness. The specials were not discounted so we called it out and we weren't told that we had to put the order with a server, not the QR code, so it was a strange interaction. They ended up honoring the discount. Also, they shut down ordering 1 min before 10:30pm - guess they didn't want more money as we wanted to order 1 more dish and they preemptively told the kitchen to close. Sure it's fine no big deal, it was a lot of food.

The dining space is small but the decoration inside makes you feel like you transported to a different country. Marshmallow Thick Toast 4/5 The toast was about an inch thick, well toasted outside with a pillowy soft center. There's some melted chocolate on the bottom that added to the smores vibe. The marshmallows on top weren't very thick, so it melted to an even layer with perfect browning. The toast was cut into 9 pieces so it can be shared but given the portion I think 1-2 people would be fitting for this dessert. We weren't too hungry, so we shared amongst 4. Jasmine Tea Jelly 4/5 I really liked how fragrant the jelly was and that the jelly was a softer jelly that reminds you of Aiyu jelly. The after taste was a bit bitter but I feel like that tells me it was brewed and made and not just bought to serve. It's served with a splash of half and half I believe. To-Go I wanted to try and compare all the tea flavored jellies they had, Jasmine, Oolong and Earl Grey Tea Jelly. Packaged with small packets of the half and half to add later. The best was OOLONG 5/5- it had a slight roasted tea flavor that was refreshing and comforting at the same time. What you would want from a milk tea. Second best was Jasmine - fragrant and less bitter than the one I had in restaurant, typical jasmine flavor that's lightly floral and not too heavy Earl Grey 3/5 - it was good if you like earl grey like me, but it has an intensely strong fragrance and flavor that might be off-putting if you're not used to the taste. It was by far the strongest floral taste and smell of the three. I'd definitely be back to get these to go, they carry well and you can cross borders with them :)

We stopped by at lunchtime at first, but they weren't open yet. Since we really wanted to try it, we called again in the evening to confirm their hours before heading back--and we're so glad we did. The service was excellent from start to finish. They were incredibly patient and took the time to answer all of our questions thoroughly, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The food did not disappoint. All the Taiwanese snacks we tried were delicious and full of authentic flavors. Our absolute favorite was the shaved ice--it was refreshing, perfectly textured, and just amazing! Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for genuine Taiwanese food and warm, attentive service. Definitely a 5-star experience!

The beef noodle is really good and authentic. I love the chewiness of the noodle, the beef cut is tender and not too fatty. The soup is rich and aromatic, but not over salty like many other stores. I even drank most of the soup, and it didn't leave me thirsty. The tea is quite tasty but the peach flavor is a bit artificial, plus I find it too expensive, as they charge $7 for that. There's no bubble or coconut jelly, and is not like they use fruit puree for the tea like A Bento. I do look forward to go and try other dishes, as their bento, chicken nuggets and oyster pancakes seem appealing. Price is reasonable as well, if I am in the area, I'll definitely be back.

Review Template ===…read more1. VERDICT/VALUE With a menu from across a variety of Asian cultures, Tropical Island tries to everything to everyone and at least for this one takeout experience, it does - falling short only on portion size. === 2. FOOD Our order was takeout and so the portion sizes were small (see photos for scale of the smaller tin pans with chopsticks); however, the quality of the food was decent overall! Chicken Satay ($13) Four skewers come at this price with some sort of mild-ish spicy oil-based peanut sauce on the side. The chicken is relatively meaty and tender! Beef Vegetable Delight ($19) With lotus root, carrots, onions, celery, and broccoli on tap with thin slices of beef, this is a dish you'll enjoy with rice or another starch. Green Beans ($19) One of the recommended house dishes by the server; it was decent - no minced pork like that found in Chinese restaurants, but it does have red and green peppers and onions. === 3. SERVICE The server at the counter was good and professional, balancing myself, app-order delivery drivers, and dine-in guests. The staff here seemed to speak English and Manadarin. The food was prepared fairly quickly, tho this may be due to having only 4 tables of dine-in guests at the time of order. === 4. ENVIRONMENT It's not a looker - it starts with narrow hallway with two small bench-type seats for those waiting at the counter, before opening into an older seating area. Wheelchairs and baby strollers should fit well enough once you get through the hallway. Parking is interesting - a few spots are located out front (watch out for one with a small Do Not Park sign on the wall) and there are a few more spots across the alleyway.
