Pricing is competitive (especially compared to certain other places in the same mall), and everyone likes bubble waffles. Basic run of the mill stuff, but the product is good. Service is quick. I've tried Mango Slush, Matcha Waffle and Hojicha Milk Tea so far Matcha Waffle and Hojicha Milk tea were the best things ever! Mango Slush wasn't bad at all. Hojicha Milk Tea has this toasty milk tea flavour with milky taste similar to Roasted Milk Tea from Chatime. Matcha Waffle ($6.99) was freshly made and mochi pieces were squishy. I think the mochi pieces were packaged Bingsoo toppings from a grocery store. Matcha Wafffle seemed kind of expensive, but the after taste of green tea was slightly bitter and sweet. This store is located inside Crystal Mall on the lower floor. Eggstatic is more of a storefront and it has one or two small tables, but it's more meant for takeout. It sells boba and other snacks. I ordered the matcha mochi waffles because I thought it was an interesting concept. I've had egg waffles before, but never with mochi consistency. It took about 5 minutes for the egg waffle to be done. I couldn't really taste the matcha flavor, but the mochi consistency was very chewy. Anyway, located in the crystal mall right next to an entrance, this tiny place was packed with customers when I went on a weekend afternoon after having accompanied the fam in buying some groceries. They have a few small tables and chairs and a counter to order from, and that's about it, but a lot of people, mostly a younger crowd, were dropping by to get their boba fix. I waited quite a while for my order that day. Granted I'm not an expert at boba in the Burnaby area, but coming from SoCal where the milk tea flows almost as freely as water, I was pleasantly satisfied with my order. We also got a honey lemon black tea with boba as well as a honey chrysanthemum tea. There's a small sign by the register that says its best to get less ice and less sugar. We ordered one drink with regular sugar/ice and the other with less. Definitely go with less! Regular was too sweet for us. Consistently good bubble waffles! I've been here more times than I've checked in. I have tried all three of their bubble waffle flavours: plain, cheese, and chocolate and they are all good! Their bubble waffles are crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The cheese and chocolate flavours provide a nice contrast in flavour to a plain bubble waffle. Second visit: Back here again to improve on my first visit - got a Roasted Oolong Milk Tea, 30% sugar, NO ice this time. The no ice was a winner, as I could really taste the strong Oolong tea which I'm in LOVE with! Plus even without the ice it was cold enough. Did not really taste the sugar at all, so I'm thinking of going no sugar next time. I forgot which review it was, but the reviewer mentioned sipping to really taste the tea - and this was spot on. Sip that ish and you'll have an enjoyable drink for close to 2 hours. I absolutely feel a difference mood-wise when I drink Oolong regularly probably because it's semi-fermented so it's a bit like green tea (calming, stress reducing) and black tea (slightly stimulating/more alert). I just feel a sense of wellness wash over me, and nothing really bothers me. Let's be honest, bubble/milk tea isn't really considered a health drink, but this is as close as it gets if you minimize the sugar. Chatime is still superior to Eggstatic in tea strength and milky consistency, but it costs more for a smaller cup ($4.50 at Eggstatic vs. $4.94 at Chatime). With that said, this is going to be my go to for a while. Highly recommend their teas with no ice and a lot less sugar! read more

I recommend the roasted oolong milk tea with grass jelly with 80% sugar and regular ice. I think they got the sweetness level right! Yummy! The honey green milk tea was also good - it has a nice sweetness to it as well. We've only had their mango slush one time but it wasn't as mango-ey flavoured as we have hoped for. Maybe I would stick to their milk teas. The staff is friendly. On one occassion, I was squinting at the menu (thank you bad eyesight), and one of the staff members passed me a paper menu. I thought that was really nice of him and it was much appreciated! The prices are pretty decent - not too expensive. They also take card; big plus for me! Their stamp card is seriously cute as I am a big fan of gudetama. If you earn 9 stamps you get a free drink. I do think they should show a bit more care making their bubble waffles. I know it can get messy with all the stuff going on behind the counter but sometimes taking your time and making it right can save time re-making it. I'm here right now and I couldn't wait to write this review. Hands down the best milk tea I've had. I'm not sure what makes it so special, maybe it's because they use Chinese black tea or it's the recipe but whatever it is, I love this place. They make their tapioca pearls fresh and ironically I'm here waiting for the pearls to be finished before my drink is ready. The bubble waffles here are traditional HK bubble waffles. My pet peeve is when someone tells me they love bubble waffles when the only type they had is the westernized version they sell at the BBT shop and other places. This bubble waffle is eggy and has the chewiness of the traditional waffle. The only downside to this place that makes me give it 4 stars instead of 5 is it's long wait time which could be improved by a couple more waffle makers and a larger work area. As well as the limited seating but it's in a mall anyways. However, the staff is very friendly and approachable. First of all, the price! Bubble tea here is cheaper than most bbt stores. They take credit cards, too! I guess their special are the egg waffles as they were costly and right at the front of the store. They make the waffles right in front of you and it's super enticing! Mr. Smol introduced me to his all time favourite bubble tea shop @cafe_eggstatic today, after a busy day of errands it was the perfect pick me up. Can we all just take a moment to appreciate the name? A good pun and tribute to the best food in the world: the egg, we stan. Food Review: We went with the classic milk tea, and the tapico pearls certainly were softer compared to the more hyped up popular chains I've been visiting. The tea flavour was strong, just like my bones after this daily dose of calcium. The bubble waffle is what won me over though, with it's perfectly crisp and golden shell, and chewy and soft interior, I was itching for a recipe. These bite-sized delights are amazing for sharing while shopping. Think of a warm fortune cookie, but better because in the moment you don't need a fortune to tell you how good life is. I'd highly recommend a tea with the waffle, as one of my favourite combos is bitter and sweet. If you are looking for a sweet treat without breaking the bank, I'd also recommend it to you if you're in the @metropolisatmet area. Food for Thought: I'm not yolking around, eggs are my favourite food. Have them as a protein, use them as a binder in baking or emulsify them as a dressing, eggs are the jack of all trades. Today I came to try their honey chrysanthemum tea but the bergamot (early grey) milk tea poster caught my eye so I got both. I was walking by when I was tempted by the idea of bubble waffles for breakfast and I am so glad that I did. They really ARE eggcellent. It had an impossible delightful crunch on the outside (and I literally mean a crunch) and it was chewy and soft on the inside. Almost like a mochi-like consistency. I'm pretty surprised that this place has such mediocre reviews considering that I work + live near Crystal Mall so I frequent this place often (as you can see from my full rewards card!) Yes, the wait can be long at times but is that really a reason to down-vote an establishment? The long lines during rush hours are a sign that the food is good and 99% of the time that I go, there's absolutely zero line and the food comes pretty fast. The service is also really friendly and they never hesitate to answer your questions so I have to disagree with people who said that the service was rude. Now on to the food: the bubble waffles are probably the best I've had in Vancouver. The inside is so chewy like a mochi and the outside is crisp and warm! My bf who is Cantonese claims it's the best he's had even compared to Hong Kong. As for the drinks, they're actually on the cheaper side. Stopped by this milk tea place since I was staying in the Hilton just next door. Pretty small place but cute. I went just before closing (they closed after making my drink) so there was so line. It is located right beside one of the mall entrances and next to an elevator on the ground floor in Crystal Mall. When I was waiting for the egg balls, I saw many students or younger people liked to buy bubble tea from this place. I asked to get their most popular drink, which was the Bird's Nest Coconut Milk Slush with aloe vera topped with strawberry. I was very surprised with the quality! Tasted very natural and was only lightly sweetened. Super refreshing, and the aloe vera didn't have too much artificial sweetness, so there was a perfect balance between flavours and textures.
