At the former location of Beard Papa's on Imperial Street, Burnaby, the interior has not changed. It's still spare and clean. I ordered a regular sized cream puff with their daily special, which is the hazelnut flavour, and a shot of espresso coffee to go. In my opinion, a good cream puff isn't overstuffed with custard, which it was. Fortunately, the custard itself wasn't overly sweet :) But the amount really was too much. Perhaps they might become more edible if the serving was smaller. when I came home, I had to spoon the excess custard out. The espresso was very good but they don't have lids available for the takeaway cups in the espresso size :(

Dessert and bubble tea shop at the SE corner of Royal Oak and Imperial. Parking is available (metered) on Royal Oak, with free spots on Imperial in the evenings. The place is nice and modern. Decent amount of seating. Staff (1 person) was friendly and helpful. My biggest complaint is they have no (real) fruit options for their bubble teas. Syrup only. Knock 1 star off. The matcha latte I had was pretty tasty though.

Beard Papa got replaced and evolved into Sweet Puffin. Basically everything inside including the menu are exactly the same as Beard Papa. We have noticed that after it became Sweet Puffin, the cream puffs got a lot bigger. Same old rule, each day they offer 3 different flavors of cream puffs to choose from. Service has been great. The place is always busy with lots of students. Inside is quite nice with lots of seats. I do notice people do end up staying for quite some time. Their pastries are all freshly made. Super tasty. I highly recommend coming here if you have not been.

Wow! Can't believe nobody's reviewed this place yet. We didn't have particularly high expectations, but that chocolate eclair green tea cream puff blew us away! I mean, where else do you get such a decently sized cream puff -- let alone a well-made one -- for $4.80 in this day and age?? The eclair shell was perfectly crunchy with thick chocolate, and the green tea cream was deliciously creamy without being too sweet. We also got the chocolate fondant. On the sweeter side, but the chocolate filling was just the right amount of oozy. A couple minor downsides: - the daily special filling (chocolate) had run out by the time we visited (around 8:30pm) - the drink menu is not particularly special or enticing - tableware & cutlery are all disposable rather than reusable; the medium-sized garbage can was overflowing Overall, would 100% return for the cream puff!

The creampuffs here are huge and delicious! They offer mini and normal sized. Lots of tables and service is great. The place is very clean and love the minimalistic decor.

The menu has shrunk considerably and their business days/hours are also a lot less than what it was previously. The drinks were not as tasty as they used to be. My Blue Rose drink was the best of the bunch and I would say even that was just OK. I enjoyed the Lychee jelly in my drink. That was probably the best part of the drink. The liquid part was kinda "meh" for me. I think the best thing we ordered was the matcha soft serve ice cream. On the flip side, there was a guy playing piano there and they were taking requests. I suggested Demon Slayer and the guy played the famous "Gurenge" song by Lisa from season one of Demon Slayer. That was kinda cool. He was a very good pianist. Great way to liven the atmosphere. Also, there was a guy who came around and gave us all tiny paper cranes. It's nothing much, but still always nice to be gifted with anything at all. Business must be hard for them. It would sure be nice to see them return to how they used to be, with a bigger menu, tastier drinks and more days/hours again. We love this place for the manga/ anime vibes that it exudes, and love the Matcha soft serve ice cream they sell here. Really wanna give this place a higher rating but the drinks were really not up to par this time, and as much as we love the Matcha ice cream, it is not by itself enough to warrant giving out a higher rating. If they could just improve the quality of their drinks again...then even if they menu remains limited, at least if everything they serve is of good quality...that would be enough to merit a higher rating.

Interior not that big, but for a dessert place it's not too small, with some trendy interior. . Was pretty lively and busy on a random weeknight, but maybe because holiday period where students are out of school, but we snagged an open table before the place got full. Order at the counter and they'll call your number to get the food. Waited for 5 mins for our order. We got the red bean bingsoo. Pretty substantial serving of shaved ice with red bean, shaved almond, raisin, and other toppings. I like that the toppings weren't super sweet, but they also give a small cup of condensed milk to up the sweetness. Portion is definitely for sharing unless you want to eat dessert for a meal.

The shaved milk ice itself wasn't very saturated or creamy, and there was a lot of cocoa powder, which made it taste kind of dry overall. I didn't leave feeling super satisfied. That said, the service was great! The staff was really friendly and honest -- when I asked about the mango bingsoo, the person helping us let me know the mangos weren't ripe yet and might taste a bit tart, which I appreciated. Also, there's plenty of seating, so it's a nice place to hang out and chat without feeling rushed.

This place is well known for its mille crepe cakes, and we can see why. The cake was light, soft, and beautifully layered with what looked like 30+ thin layers. They offer 15+ flavours, including durian, mango, matcha, pistachio, and tiramisu, so there are plenty of options. We liked that the cake was not too sweet, which made it easy to enjoy. It felt like a perfect dessert for a celebration with friends or family. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The service is a bit slow, but we think it is worth the wait since everything is freshly prepared. Overall, we had a lovely experience and would order again for another special occasion. We tried both the matcha and pistachio crepe cake and I found the pistachio to have a nicer flavor. Someone had the durian slush and they loved it. If you love durian, it's a must try as it packed a strong smell! The mango fruit was fresh but there were annoying fruit flies buzzing around. Another had the mango with taro mochi ice dessert.
