Japanese green tea, honey milk tea with pearls, matcha cake, bumblebee cheese cake
    Ceci L.

I used to come here a lot when it was Cafe Joie since they had amazing desserts and drinks. I saw online that Mr. Moustache has cute desserts and I came here to try their bumblebee cheesecake. What a disappointment! This place definitely does not make their desserts fresh. I could tell after the first bite that it's been sitting overnight. My friend ordered the matcha cake and it was stale. The bubble tea is better than their cakes, but that's not saying much. I ordered the honey milk tea with pearls and other than the tea being strong, it was bland. Now the worst part of my experience was the service. There was a male & female behind the counter and the male didn't talk at all. I ordered from the female and she didn't look like she wanted to be there. Don't bother asking questions about the menu because she'll just stare at you with no expression. It was very awkward. When I got my bubble tea there weren't any pearls. I told the girl I ordered pearls and she replied "oh, well I didn't charge you for them." I pulled my credit card back out and she made me another drink and of course didn't apologize for the mistake. There's so many dessert & bubble tea shops along Kingsway, don't waste your money here.

Teetering with this review on the 3 star or 4 star rating... As reviewers have already mentioned, Mr. Mustache's second location has opened up right across from Metrotown in what was Cafe Joie's spot. There is still a signage on the board outside for Cafe Joie if you're travelling south to the location but don't be fooled, it is now Mr. Mustache. I have been to Cafe Joie before and Mr. Mustache doesn't look like they've done much to change the interior as it still has the same wooden tables as before in Cafe Joie. Came here with the intention of trying the infamous Macchiato drinks that they seem to be known for and felt that it was a little underwhelming. It was just the tea base of your choice with a cream on top. Thought the drink would've been nice with a little more texture so I wanted to add pearls into the drinks but the cashier said that it wasn't recommended so I didn't get it but now looking back, I definitely should have followed by own instincts instead. Also tried the chocolate hazelnut mochi bread and if there's two things I don't like, it's chocolate and bread so I would usually never get this but a friend wanted to try it out and so we did. BEST decision made! While the bread looks like a mini loaf, the staff will cut it up for you so you can easily grab it and eat it. The bread does have a loafy bread texture but the chocolate is more of a dark chocolate powder so not super sweet. The mochi is stringy and the hazelnuts definitely add to the crunch. Only thing I missed about this one was that they would warm up the bread for you so that the mochi would be warm and stringy and I guess it is a bread thing but the ends of the bread didn't have any of the ingredients so it was just plain chocolate bread so if you're not a fan of bread like I am, the ends were definitely unpleasant to eat. Overall, not sure how I feel about the drink since it didn't blow my mind or anything but the chocolate mochi bread was definitely a winner!

Checked out the place because I've been curious what has replaced Cafe Joie. Basically nothing has changed inside since Mr. Mustache took over from Cafe Joie that used to be there. It seems like the same place, just rebranded since the offerings are similar as well. There isn't a big selection of food to choose from. The display case is a little sad looking. Nevertheless, what they do have is super cute!! Especially the bee cheesecake. It tasted very good too~ It's always nice when food tastes as good as it looks! Drink selection is good. Mostly the same as any other bbt shop. I always order half sweet, and it turned out pretty well. It's not overly sweet, but I definitely wouldn't like the full sugar drinks. The place was quite empty when I arrived but filled up very quickly at night. There aren't a lot of seats in the cafe so if it gets busy, there's definitely no place to sit.

Reasonable prices and lots of choice. A great neighbourhood bbt stop across from Metrotown mall. Lots of students hanging out without masks doing their studies at the tables so it didn't make me feel comfortable to stay. We just ordered got our stuff and left. I had the mango macchiato with pearls. It was good at first but since it was difficult to stir it, I was left with just the cream after a couple sips. I like the idea of a paper based straw but for a cap like the one I had, it disintegrated and got scrapped easily so I wasn't too happy. My bf and friend got earl grey tea and blueberry black tea and enjoyed both drinks.

Nice bubble tea and dessert shop. w\We ordered the purple rice red bean yogurt and the mango slush. The yogurt drink is okay but the fresh mango slush is amazing! The big chunks of fresh mango paired with tapioca pearls, simply makes my heart happy. Highly recommend getting the mango slush.

I've been wanting to come here for some time now, I was a regular here before it changed name and owner. Located across the mall. Decor hasn't changed much, looked pretty much the same. Came in on a Sunday afternoon to grab a pastry and coffee. Not much choices, they had cute looking desserts but nothing interest me. No pastry options. I grabbed my coffee to go, it tasted good. I sat for several minutes and then decided to go.

Finally after second attempt we were able to get a table at this place. This place is literally like a public library. All tables are occupied by students with laptop and staying for a very long time. Not a very good place to hang out and have conversations. Their tea and desserts are very good though.

Mr. Mustache is one of my favourite bubble tea spots in Burnaby (even with all the new spots that are opening everywhere). I always aim to try something new when I visit but end up getting the same thing. Lol I really love all their fruit teas (Mango and Lychee are my favourites). And I especially love their Summer Fruit Tea! It is super refreshing and it is really true to its name as it's so good in the summer (or any sunny day). I am definitely due for another visit soon. I still have yet to try their desserts!

If you are thinking or craving for some sweet desert this is the place to be. There a good selection of deserts ranging from matcha match, earl grey Swiss roll, tiramisu and special of the day, milk chocolate and passion fruit -not to mention their selections of coffee, teas and drinks super yum!! This location is a good place to hang out and chit chat. Definitely not a location if you are looking for some quite time, as it can be quite loud. I find what is frustrating is that some of the patrons can "hog"'up the space which leaves the new customer trying to get a seat quite frustrating. Parking could be hit and miss as it can be challenging at times too :) but who can pass up for dessert ?!

This is my second time coming here (my first time is at Granville location), and I still like their drinks so far. Their cake is really cute, but I still full during that time so I just ordered drinks. This time, I ordered * Lychee black tea macchiato -- it is really refreshing, especially in this summer wearher. At other places, I usually request for half sugar, but not here. This drink is really good * Pu-erh macchiato -- I like the lychee better, but it's not bad too :) Their plastic cup is good quality (compared to other place), and love the macchiato because you can enjoy your drinks without straw (enviromental friendly-- even the cup is plastic, but it's still something) Love the interior, it's a good place for study or meeting with friends, but when I came it is little bit cold inside.

Green tea macchiato: not very sweet which is my preference. Loved it will order again Peach oolong mousse: pretty good !

Taste: 9/10 Value: 7/10 Service: N/A Ordered: Green tea macchiato: I quite like this!this drink is not sweet at all which is perfect for me since I need to cut sugar to 25-50% usually for all bubbletea drinks. It's got a fragrant green tea taste and the layer of salty mousse on top compliments it very well. Definitely will be coming back for this. Peach oolong mouse: again very fragrant flavours. Can taste the peach and oolong. Pretty good Overall, will come again if I'm in the neighbourhood! Price is standard bbt price.

I really wanted to like this place because I've heard very good things but I did not enjoy Mr.Mustache. You order at the front and then wait for your order. I asked for some recommendations on the desserts as there was quite a few selections and the people at the register were not very knowledgeable. They couldn't recommend me a dessert cause they didn't know them. As an alternative, I asked which one was a popular dessert and they also could not recommend me one so I thought that was a little strange? In the end, went with 2 chocolate desserts. The cream puff was ok, it tasted good but the price of it, felt like it wasn't worth it. The other chocolate cake was really heavy and overly sweet that my friend enjoyed! The green tea slush was great. Tasted like green tea. I would probably come back if I wanted a place to study/hang out and Cha Time/Milk and Sugar was too full.

Even if you're as busy as a bee, you gotta make time to stop and inhale the desserts! I've waited a very long time to try this place out, actually. Last time I came here, it was fully packed and I didn't want to wait. The little bee is a light and great tasting Cheesecake. I really liked the crust that they had. The Peach Mousse was a little too sweet and artificial tasting for me. The Tiramisu was light and creamy. The flavour of it resembles my beloved coffee-flavoured Häagen-Daz ice cream. Yummy! . . .
