I had so much fun eating!
    Angela Z.

Desserts Artisanaux is such a comforting dessert spot on Kingsway, especially if you enjoy desserts that aren't overly sweet. Everything here feels carefully made, from their seasonal dessert soups to their creative flavour combinations. I tried their pistachio dessert soup, and it really stood out, deeply nutty, rich, and incredibly fragrant. You can tell the ingredients are thoughtfully chosen and cooked in-house. I also loved the coconut noodles with mango pomelo, which was both fun to eat and perfectly balanced between creamy, chewy, and refreshing. This is a great place to bring family or friends who appreciate lighter, more traditional-style desserts. Warm, comforting, and made with care!

    Milky Durian Soup

Desserts Artisanaux has been on my list for a long time. There have been a lot of great reviews on social media and there's always a long line outside the shop. A few days ago, we finally were able to try it without needing to wait in line. However, the food was pretty disappointing and not worth the hype at all. We tried their Mochi Milky Egg Custard Paste and Milky Durian Soup with mini glutinous balls. The mochi on top of the custard paste is the same watery texture as the custard paste, except there were grains of cooked rice in it. There was no chewiness or thickness. The custard paste was alright but I would not crave for it. The milky durian soup was a durian sago with milk. There was a piece of durian flesh in the dessert and it was good. If the flesh was bigger, the durian to milk/sago proportions would be better. We added mini glutinous balls too. The glutenous balls came separately and they were in white and pink. They were shockingly not soft and chewy at all (the whole point of having glutinous ball!). The glutinous balls were hard and stuck together. Very disappointing. The only good thing about the desserts i tried was that they were not too sweet. Service-wise, I'm happy that there was no queue and I didn't have to wait. The ordering was self-order using the QR code, which is good as there are a lot of customization options available. Environment-wise, the shop is cutely decorated like an ancient Chinese inn 客棧. However, most seats are on a platform up a few steps of stairs, so it may not be the best place for wheelchair users/elderly.

Mochi pistachio paste $8.79 Steamed milk egg pudding with black sesame paste $7.99

Been seeing such long lines to this spot and finally got a chance to check it out and it was delicious!! Got the mochi pistachio paste ($8.79)- was so yummy!! The mochi was soft & fresh and the pistachio flavour was really prominent! Steamed milk egg pudding with black sesame paste ($7.99) was my fav! The pudding was perfectly flavoured and paired so well with the black sesame! The only thing I noticed was there was a layer of film on top of the egg pudding and we were sometimes able to taste the film in a few bites but overall it was still very enjoyable!

Saw this spot everywhere on social media so came expecting it to be overhyped. But surprisingly, it lived up to all the hype and we ended up really enjoying it! We ordered the taro sago with taro balls in coconut milk, pumpkin sago in coconut milk, and their signature ghosts drool mochi. The pistachio mochi was just alright for me, although the bowl it came in was definitely unique and insta worthy. The taro and pumpkin desserts came with huge chunks of taro and pumpkin, and were deliciously comforting on a cold night. We joined the waitlist as we were finishing up dinner a few blocks away, so there ended up being no wait. There is limited parking in the area though, so make sure to account in time for finding parking and for walking over. The cafe is where Oiso used to be, and the interior had cute decorations. We were too full from dinner to order any drinks but next time we definitely will!

Been a few times for HK style dessert at Desserts Artisanaux. It's next to Sabor Mexicano Restaurant. Online option to join the waitlist when it's busy. Order using the QR code, pay at the counter when done. - Mochi pistachio paste (A1) ($8.79) - mochi texture is odd, similar to marshmallow. Pistachio was okay - Mochi with mango sago soup (C4) ($8.79) - mango flavour was good. Not too sweet - Mochi, taro balls and mini glutinous rice balls with coconut milk (E3) ($9.98) - added coconut jelly noodles ($2.99). Noodles had no flavour or bite - Mochi black sesame soup (A17) ($8.98) - black sesame was good. Favourite of the desserts - Mango pomelo sago (C1) ($8.79)

Super cute store with nice seating. Perfect for catching up with friends except it has an hour limit seating. Parking across the street at the park is super easy to find and convenient. I got the E1 半畝傳統大滿貫 with coconut milk because I wanted to try all their toppings. It came with 椰皇冰河粉,西米,桃膠,小丸子,芋圓,芋泥. The coconut shred was very young and tasty. And the mango sago was classic too. We had a good time and service was great. Menu can be found online. 10/10 would come back again.

Dessert artisanaux is a very popular Chinese dessert shop. I finally had a chance to visit here. What we ordered: Mochi Custard Golden Pumpkin Paste Pumpkin paste soup was so creamy and thick. Mochi was totally blends in the soup. I really liked pumpkin flavor. I want this a bit more sweeter. Grand slam series Taro ball, Taro, Coconut Jelly Noodles,Sago,Peach Gum,Mini Glutinous Rice Balls with Coconut Milk It was a lot of fun. There were so many ingredients and portion was so large! It never go wrong, highly recommend this item. I wish it could be a bit more sweeter. This shop offers various type of interesting Chinese dessert. I really enjoyed visiting here and want to try different item next time

I enjoyed the mochi milky egg custard paste. It's not too sweet and had a nice creamy milky flavor to it. The portions are quite generous and filling.

Mochi Custard Golden Pumpkin Paste and Mini Glutinous Rice Balls with Mango Sago soup

We got there before 8pm. There was already a wait for tables, we were number 5 in line. It's a small space, so tables are limited and there are multiple signs indicating a one hour seating limit. We waited about 10 min before we were seated, but there was a constant line. You place your order via QR and your order arrives shortly after. I had the Mochi Custard Golden Pumpkin Paste. Serving size is a bit on the small side, but taste wise was fine. It wasn't mind blowing by any means, but I still enjoyed it. My friend felt my mochi wasn't very mochi, and too soft. My friend had the Mini Glutinous Rice Balls with Mango Sago soup. When you order a mango item, I guess there's an alert that pops up stating it's not mango season, so the mango might not be sweet (at least that's what my friend reported when she placed her order). She said the mango was fine. Now, this next part is where it all went downhill from here. Pretty much within minutes of us finishing our food, we were given our bill, and our dishes were taken away. We were told we could pay when we were ready. This was 32 min into our seating. We continued to sit over our tea when someone then came by another few minutes later reminding us of the seating limit instead of maybe asking us if we needed anything else or offering to refill our tea. After noticing how the staff kept looking at us, we finally decided to leave, 45 minutes into our seating. Don't implement a one hour seating limit and put in a shorter one if you dont want people to linger. There is a take out option as well, but I think they charge extra for the containers. Free parking available outside, we had trouble finding a spot and ended up a block away in the residential area.

Decor in the shop was cute and unique. The service was alright but not the best. They only had 1 server, and she was clearly overwhelmed and busy making her service blunt and abrupt. The desserts are photogenic, but flavour and depth are lacking. I ordered the durian sago and the base was too milky. I also added a side order of glutinous rice balls which were clearly not freshly made and was probably a day old. The glutinous rice balls were not chewy but were firm, dense and hard. They also lack rice flavour and were quite distasteful.

    Pistachio mochi & taro

I was really looking forward to this dessert place and was able to make it just before closing. It wa take out only so maybe that's why it didn't taste as good if it was in the ceramic bowls & cups... the pistachio mochi was runny. The taro was good but only had a few mochi balls in it. The place was busy even at 11pm. I'd give it another try eating in tho.

Very happy to see these kinds of Asian desserts popping up in Vancouver. The store is cute and inviting. The serving bowls and cups are ceramic - a very nice touch. I love how their serving counter has Asian pots. There are many varieties, SERIES as they call it - BLACK GLUTINOUS RICE, MANGO/DURIAN, TRADITIONAL, SAGO, COLD BEVERAGE, HOT BEVERAGE and STEAMED MILK EGG PUDDING. It's almost confusing to pin down which one I like but I'm sure they're all good! We scanned the wrong QR code - for Take Out vs Dine In - and we waited forever for our order to come. We checked again and it was bagged for take out. All good, we enjoyed our sweets nonetheless. Will be back for a different series for sure!

Ghost's drool, or mochi pistachio paste $8.79

I saw lots of promo for this place on Instagram and really wanted to try. I think their desserts are pretty good for the price. However, this place is still new and quite popular, so it's busy and you'll probably have to wait for a table. Tip: call in advance to put yourself on the waitlist. I saw the staff receiving phone calls and entering in customer's info in the iPad to get on the waitlist without being there yet. Went on a Saturday around 7 pm and we thought that would be early for dessert, but it was already full with 6 parties ahead of us. We waited around 30 mins for a table of 4. The soft opening was over, so no 10% off. All the ordering is done via QR code, which is convenient. However, we didn't receive any tea until our desserts arrived. I guess they were super busy. We tried 2 desserts with mochi: pistachio paste and mango sago. I think the mango sago is better at First Dessert and other dessert places, but the pistachio paste was very unique and delicious. No wonder most tables ordered this. I would get this again. However, the mochi is kind of gimmicky. We didn't get as much stretch or pull as I saw online. I wonder if we just got an old batch. I'd pass on this next time. My friends ordered the durian sago and glutinous rice dessert. They enjoyed these a lot. I sampled both and they were decent. If in the area, I may stop by again, but First Dessert would still be my preference. I think it's worth a try for those who haven't been yet.
