Americano, Brown Sugar latte, Matcha latte
    Diane M.

May 26, 2022 I was looking forward to trying this cafe after reading some glowing Yelp reviews and photos. I'm sorry to give only three stars. The business was clean, service was a tad slow but nice and I appreciated the large spacing in between tables. Clear partitions were separating each seating area. I assume these were put in place for Covid precautions but I like the privacy of conversation it lends. Now for the priority, the coffee! Disappointed I was with their brown sugar latte. Perhaps it was an off day but mine tasted burnt, acidic and had an odd after taste. I've been traveling and trying the trendy brown sugar lattes wherever I go but this one failed. I didn't even finish it. One of my cafe partners said the Matcha latte was okay but nothing to right in a review about. LOL

    Organic chai latte (16oz)

I've only been here twice, but the drinks here are phenomenal! I've had their matcha latte and chai latte and both were the best I've had in ages. Creamy, sweet, and the flavour is strong. The milk doesn't overpower the teas--a good balance. I came during a pretty busy time but my latte came out within minutes. The cafe is pretty spacious--lots of space to have a coffee date, work, or read. I like that each table is still separated by a plexiglass barrier! Excited to come back and try more of their stuff--what a hidden Surrey gem! They have so much more than just drinks. A wide array of macarons, cakes, savoury items, and seasonal additions.

This is an amazing study spot. The lattes and macrons are tasty as hell. If you are looking for friendly staff, a studious cafe vibe and open until 9pm. This is the place for you

There is a ton of buzz about this place. However, I think we might have hit them up on an outlier of a day It's busy. It seems like it's the place to go if you want to study or catch up with friends. My daughter wanted something fun and fizzy. She ordered the Italian soda with mango. It was fun and tasty. The drink I ordered was pretty good too if you like guava nectar. In my case, I felt that it took away from the iced tea and lemonade flavours and since it was nectar rather than juice it wasn't as refreshing as I was hoping it would be. The others in our party tried some of their cakes and thought they were too bland and boring. I didn't try any, so I'm unable to go I to any further detail. I'm willing to give the place another shot and giving an espresso based beverage a go next time. Perhaps, I'll be able to unlock all the buzz around the spot.

Vanilla cake. Dry. No taste of vanilla at all. Stick with their coffee

5 stars bc the coffee (which is what they're known for) was amazing. Their signature is definitely the Spanish latte but get it half sweet!! I believe it's made with condensed milk so it's a bit on the sweet side to begin with already! Also tried their vanilla cake. The cake was really dry and honestly it didn't taste like vanilla. I've heard their pastries are better so maybe I'll give those a shot instead.

This cafe was about 40 seconds away from my Airbnb. The coffee was good, I ordered a normal drip. Boring I know, maybe I'm just old? Lol anyways, the customer service was great, the coffee was fresh which is always a good thing. I go to alot of cafes so nothing too crazy that stood out here, but it was relaxing.

Coffee Monster is Guildford's ideal cafe. Their highest pro seems to be the clean and civilized cafe environment Coffee Monster provides. It's presence of not too loud music and never too crammed clientele makes Coffee Monster the perfect place to enjoy a drink and/or treat while studying, reading, conversing, or relaxing. I ordered their Bonfire Hot Chocolate for a 2 hour long reading session followed by their Matcha Latte. Both drinks were prepared under a minute with barista conversations kept short and sweet thanks to their pager method in delivery. Despite their drinks not being mind blowing, they failed to disappoint as they were as sweet, creamy, and satisfying as expected. P.S. I also respect how Coffee Monster's one use utensils and containers are compostable.

Waffle and earl grey creme brulee

Cute place and lots of interesting things of the menu. I tried the earl grey creme brûlée and the waffle. The earl grey creme brûlée was tasty but the top sugar part hardened weirdly that it didn't crack when I tapped it. I've never had earl grey creme brûlée and it exceeded my expectations. The waffle was good but not that great. I got a drizzle of condensed milk on it. It was good but just as good as the waffles I keep frozen at home. However I am a waffle snob and my expectations are high. I didn't find anything special with their drinks. Overall cute cafe and interesting items on the menu. Can be pricey though.

Caramel mocha ($5). Salted caramel & espresso macaroon ($2.50 each).

Got the caramel mocha ($5) and it was good. It had a more subtle caramel flavour than what I was hoping for. Also got 2 macaroons at $2.50 each (espresso and salted caramel). They too were a bit subtle in their flavours. The service was friendly, our order (including my friends caramel mocha and red velvet cake took about 5-10 minutes, despite there only being one person ahead of us in line. For some reason it was kinda loud even though it wasn't music; people were just loud. I noticed that none of the staff go around cleaning any of the tables; I don't mind bussing my own dishes, but even the staff at Tim Hortons go around wiping down the tables every now and then.

Really happy to find a modern, clean and independent coffee shop in Surrey that doesn't close super early! Love the open space, simple modern decor and a wide variety of drinks & treats to choose from. Prices are in the middle to upper-level, so it was very reasonable for what you get. There are tons of available seating with nicely spaced out tables, and the employees were happy to answer any questions or give more details on their items. The large parking lot is also a nice bonus. The drinks were very well-made with great quality ingredients, I tried the caramel mocha and matcha latte had a balanced sweetness, with no bitterness or gritty texture that can be found at some other coffee shops. Their desserts were overall really good, with the best on being their lava cake with whipped cream & ice cream! The macarons had lovely delicate flavours, a nice chewy texture and didn't overpower you with sweetness. Their cheesecake tasted yummy, but I found it odd that it didn't have a graham cracker crust - it was just a thin layer of cake, which left my tastebuds a bit confused. The chocolate cake was decent, but I was expecting to taste a lot more chocolate-y. Overall a great place to chill, hang out, study, and chat! Friday nights & weekends can get a bit busy & noisy, which causes a lot of echoing...so something to keep in mind if you need a quieter place to study.

Nice clean coffee house with exceptional patient service Coffee is decent but not memorable for my tastes.Such a cool warm venue with lots of elbow space and very discrete decor. One problem...no French Roast beans!Back to my path to find French Roast beans. The wood flooring would be gr8 for sock skating too! Appy Trails, Brianm your foodie at large

In a sea of Timmy's and Starbucks, I am happy that a Coffee Monster opened up in Surrey! I have been to the Coquitlam location and this location is a great improvement from that location. There is plenty is seating and parking is less of a headache. The drinks are good and the dessert selection is Asian inspired. If you are familiar with the light and less sweet style of Asian desserts, this place offers a decent selection to choose from. I ordered a white choco mocha ($4.75). I found it to be tad on the very sweet side, but I appreciated the latte art on my drink. This is a nice option for larger groups to chill around and enjoy some drinks and desserts. It is not really meant for the early morning work crowd looking for a caffeine kick.

They melt in your mouth and perfect texture. We got: MANGO BINGSOO -the best of the bunch. They used sweet Manila mangoes so they were sweet and delicious. Will be my go -to from this point on STRAWBERRY BINGSOO - it was okay. The strawberries were not as sweet so maybe it would be better during strawberry season (whenever that is)? OREO BINGSOO - pretty good. My nephew liked it a lot CHEESECAKE BINGSOO - skip it. You get 4 tiny slices of cheesecake to the side and some crumbs on top that were pretty good but just didn't pack as much flavor as the others we had.

Expected it to be a small place serving some desserts but this place is huge and had a very young vibe! We looked around and everyone was digging into a big tub spooning out it's "shaved ice" like contents into small bowls and enjoying it. That's what I want i decided. It was Bingsoo! So delicious!! It comes in fruit flavours among others and we opted for strawberry bingsoo but I saw everyone going for a mango one. The bingsoo came in a big tub like bucket which had ice cream in the middle , ice on top and it was covered with strawberries and topped with whipped creme . We enjoyed it and it was frankly a little too much for 3 of us. We also tried the Nutella filled pancakes which were flaky and light! Definitely worth trying. My friend has always raved about Nemesis coffee and brought me back a box of their beautifully…read morepackaged Allan & Senel Campos La Toboba Jocotes beans for me to try. I was HOOKED. During my last trip to Surrey, I made sure to stop by and fill up on caffeine and pastries. This location looks like an Apple Store from the outside with a modern glass exterior and minimalistic interior. From what my friends have told me, this location is much larger than their Downtown Vancouver location. Upon entering, the first thing I saw was Nemesis' vibrant colored boxes nicely lined up on a table next to the window for purchase in addition to merch (shirts, mugs, etc.) featuring their simplistic upside down blue heart logo. They switch out the coffee varieties on a regular basis, and so make sure to check their site first if you are looking for a certain bean! After perusing the merch, I made my way to the line and was captivated by the fancy high-end pastries in the glass counter. The company that makes the pastries is called Dope and they had everything from cookies to croissants to cakes and crullers. Prices were reasonable and I paid under $20 USD for four pastries. They had unique flavors including: strawberry & pistachio danish, tiramisu croissant, churro cruller, iced cap cruller, apple hojicha fritter, ube donut, and more. Like the Nemesis packaging, the Dope pastry boxes were art pieces on their own and probably the prettiest to-go boxes I've ever seen; they are a bright vibrant blue with their signature smile and tongue character logo and metallic writing. They literally look like designer shoe boxes. Nemesis features two seasonal drinks at a time, but they don't offer any flavored drinks otherwise and so if you're looking for a basic vanilla latte, this is not the place. The two seasonal drinks they were featuring in February were the Beet Root Latte and the Black Sesame Corn Latte (no coffee in this one though). Personally, neither quite appealed to me and so I just ordered a basic OAT MILK LATTE sweetened with simple syrup (you could alternatively get it sweetened with honey). The espresso was smooth and the oat milk was nice and creamy. To share with my family, I also ordered the... - APPLE HOJICHA FRITTER ($4.75 CAN) - as someone who doesn't normally like donuts, this fritter was the best fritter I've ever had and definitely on the not-to-sweet side. It was crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and full of apple pieces, apple spiced compote, and cinnamon. The hojicha dusting was subtle but added a nice slight earthiness to the pastry. I liked this pastry so much, I ended up ordering another one later on! - The ICED CAP CRULLER ($4.75 CAN) - this cruller was also fantastic and full of espresso flavor. The espresso cream filling and the condensed milk glaze were delicious and tasted like I was eating a Vietnamese coffee. 10/10 would get this again! - BROWN BUTTER BANANA CAKE ($5.75 CAN) - this cake was super moist and had a beautiful piping of cinnamon espresso buttercream on top. I'd say this one was the least unique of the pastries I ordered, but was a solid slice of banana bread and the buttercream was smooth and light. - CHOCOLATE ORANGE SUISSE ($7.50 CAN) - this pastry was the most interesting texture-wise as it has a crispy exterior that reminded me of chowmein noodles, wrapped around a croissant. The candied orange was very distinct and could be tasted in both the chocolate orange filling and the outside. While the most expensive of the pastries (probably because of the extra labor it takes for this one), I thoroughly enjoyed every bite and would order this one again too. The seating areas and bathrooms are clean. Service is excellent- we got our orders within 10 minutes after ordering and they come by to give you water and silverware as needed. TLDR, Nemesis is 1000% worth the stop and I can't wait to be back whenever I am in Surrey next. Overall, 5/5 for coffee and pastries, 5/5 for service, 5/5 for atmosphere

There were quite a few empty tables and the place felt pretty relaxed. I was doing a bit of work and ended up staying a little longer than the 90-minute table limit. One of the staff members came up to us and said, "Hey, you guys have been here longer than 90 minutes. You'll have to leave soon." I told him that was fine and asked if I could just finish my coffee. He said okay, but then about a minute later he came back with a to-go cup and said, "Here you go, you guys can leave now." Honestly, that caught me off guard. Especially since it wasn't busy and there were still plenty of open tables. During my first visit, Jimmy went above and beyond to make sure everything was great, and I don't think he would have handled it that way. The coffee is still great and I really like the space, but this experience definitely made me think twice about coming back.
