Every time I've come here, there's been lots of people working - either students or others so it's a nice place to come if you're looking for a chill vibe for that. I'd recommend this place for a first date. Had the Black Sesame Oat Latte which had a salty edge to it near the end but I enjoyed it and would have it again. Only thing is that the seats are kind of uncomfortable so while that one dude might pull out his laptop and plug in for a while at one of the many outlets available, this is not a place for chilling for ages. Solely based on the affogato I would give this place a 4. Can't really comment on the service etc. But the affogato was really delicious. They use the usual big tub of ice cream that you can get at safeway etc. But it works well It's definitely pricey but the balance you get from the ice cream and the bitter coffee is so good and so addicting. I checked their website and asked my friend to grab me 3 of the ice cream cookies ($2 each). When my friend went and t asked about the 3, he was told that their website is out of date and they don't have them. He got me the Earl grey cookie and the Oreo cookie. They were both $4 each. The Earl grey cookie came in a pack of 3 and they were really small and $4 was far too expensive. It also didn't help that as soon as I opened the package I could smell they were stale. It had ZERO Earl grey flavour. Would NOT recommend at all. The Oreo cookie also didn't warrant being $4 either. Thankfully it wasn't stale, but the only flavour that came through was the actual Oreo that was on top. Such a cute cafe! Good access to outlets if you're coming to study. I got a Hot Sweet Potato Latte and it was really good. I think they use actual sweet potato and not a syrup which I love. This place is very well hidden, mainly because I couldn't read Korean. As one yelper mentioned in the review, it is on the right of Hanman supermarket when facing it. Look for the neon lit words "open" and "coffee". Sign board above it is in Korean. If you turn right in the parking lot and drive nearer to it, you will see the small sandwich board outside with store name on it. It was half filled when we were there just before 6pm on weekend. It filled up quickly by 630pm and later. There are signs indicating max of 3 hours stay on weekends and holidays. I guess many students come here to study. The place is spacious and looks nice. Power points are available along the wall, making that prime spots for those who need to charge their devices. The service is so-so. You get a buzzer and then collect your order anyway. I asked if they can make a flat white and the guy said a cortado and flat white are about the same. That's so wrong. The cakes are quite pricey at $7+ per slice. It was not bad but somehow I kept tasting pandan or kaya flavor in my matcha passion fruit cake. I had the cortado which was ok. My friend had the Americano and he didn't like it much. He said other places do it better. I doubt I will be back to this place. Great size though if you have a big group of people. read more

This cute little cafe is tucked away at the very end of the Korean plaza- to the right of the Hannam market. It doesn't look like much from the outside but the interior is very nice. A lot of coffee gears on display plus many Christianity related wall decor near the back. They don't have any regular brewed coffee. The most "basic" drink you can get is either an espresso or americano, both of which I don't drink. There's a big selection of desserts: from cutely shaped macarons to various cakes. While they had prices for their beverages, none of the menus nor the display showed the prices for the desserts. As a practical person, I really dislike this concept. Anyway, I ordered a take out of matcha yuzu cake, and it cost $8 something after tax. While the price is comparable, I really don't like finding out the price at the point of sale. The cake itself is rather yummy. I love matcha and yuzu, but never had it combined! It isn't too sweet which is perfect. read more

The fact that this place opens at 10:30am tells you the concept behind this store. It is less about getting your morning coffee but a hip trendy place to hangout or study with your friends. You'd see the clientele is mostly Asian students (it's in Korean town after all). They are all working on their laptops and having desserts at the same time. Given the location, all these students probably drove and met up here to study. They took real care in making their coffee though and their desserts are excellent. They have about a dozen variety of cheesecake to choose from. I had their Tea Tart which is a buttery shortbread crust with blueberry jelly and a 'mystery' custard. The decor is clean with white walls accented by black lines created by dark wires pinned to the wall. A shelf with merchandise is right the middle of the shop. read more

I definitely think that if you go to cafes for interior and atmosphere purposes, this place is for you! However, I go to cafes to study, to drink amazing coffee, and eat delicious treats and this place was eh for me. Undeniably, it is a really nice cafe. But I've experienced quite a few rude baristas that kind of set my mood off. Also, I've tried a variety of different drinks from here, such as the Iced Americano, London Fog, Hot Americano, etc., In particular, I did NOT enjoy the Iced Americano--it was way too bitter and it was one of the worst Iced Americanos that I've ever had. The hot americano was okayyy but wasn't amazing. Furthermore, it is a cafe with drinks on the more pricey side. Even when I go to high end cafes, americanos at base price are usually 3 dollars, but this place was $4.50 and their iced italian sodas are $7! The desserts are very cute and aesthetically pleasing, but doesn't taste that great. I've also tried a variety of different desserts from here and not a lot met my expectations. read more

A hidden gem in this area. I live quite far away so it's a real treat to get out to here. It is on par with other boutique coffee places closer to downtown/main street but in your friendly neighbourhood suburb(tm) Their decor is tasteful and there is plenty of room between tables - it doesn't feel cramped at all. Their dessert menu has good variety, but what really shines is their coffee. They don't roast themselves, but they do have a wide selection of choices and styles you can brew from. If you haven't tried Siphon Coffee before, make sure to give it a try as usually it can get quite pricey at other places. read more

I'm not sure how to explain this, but I get a great vibe just walking into this coffee shop. It's spacious and warm, and cold brewing siphons line one of the walls. The lady behind the counter helped explain the different kinds of espresso drinks to me and helped me select one that's closest to what I make at home (a cortado). The cortado was perfect--smooth, strong, and almost "sweet" without adding any sugar. It's a great place to work or just sip a drink and hang out. I'll definitely be back when I'm in town. read more

You can easily miss this place. It's tucked at the corner of this plaza. Honestly, you're not missing much. They're serving 49th parallel as their regular coffee and they do have 'dutch' coffee as their more expensive option. I tried to ask more about their dutch coffee and they don't seem to know much so I'm not even sure how it's dutch. Like dutch style, dutch beans? This coffee shop is tucked away in the corner of the busy North Road Centre. The inside was very spacious, with plenty of seats available when we came in on a Tuesday afternoon. We ordered: - White chocolate mocha - Caramel macchiato - Matcha yuzu cake - Triple chocolate mousse (or at least that is what I think it was called) The mocha and macchiato were standard, nothing too special about them. However, they were considered big for the price we paid for. Both desserts were at least seven dollars plus, which we thought were a little unreasonable given how tiny they were. The matcha yuzu cake had very little matcha taste to it, which was unfortunate. I think it is a difficult task to balance the matcha and yuzu in the dessert because yuzu can esily overpower the matcha flavour if too strong. On the other hand, the only word to describe my chocolate mousse was "smooth" and that was about it. It just felt like any other chocolate mousse, it wasn't anything spectacular. One good thing about this cafe is the open space they provide, which is good for studying or catching up with friends. There is a bookstore down the hall on the left side, along with many Christian-themed decorations hanging on the wall. It almost felt like I walked into another dimension and couldn't even tell it was part of a coffee shop. The downside is the overpriced dessert items. It also bugged me a little when they didn't display the prices. I didn't want to look awkward by asking the staff how much each one cost, so I just picked the one I wanted to try. As a result, I didn't actually know how much I had to pay until I placed my order. Some people don't care, some people do, but personally I'd like to get a feel of how much I am spending without any surprises. read more

Standing Egg is pretty. It's interior design is obviously mirrored after cafes you'll find in Seoul so expect hipster vibes here - lots of it. In fact, some can argue that it's a little bit too much but you're here for the coffee right? We came on a long weekend to kill some time and the café was packed with students studying and people chilling with friends. There was frequently no seats available but as long as you stand by the door, the owner and workers will buzz around to try to get seats available for you. There is a time limit for staying (3 hours) and a 1 drink minimum per person, but we were able to scot around the rules by ordering a cake and 1 drink shared among two. I'm not sure if this will always be allowed but we weren't given a talking to while we were there. The menu was actually quite intricate with different types of cold brews and espresso drinks. Drinks were on a tad pricier side but I guess it makes sense if you're thinking of sipping one drink and taking up a space for 3 hours for your studies or group chat. It's more geared towards those consumers that are looking for a café environment as opposed to the Starbucks drip coffee enthusiasts that order and grab on the go. The cheesecake we got was delicious despite it being quite overpriced and small and the dark chocolate mocha was the perfect amount of not-sweet just as we liked. Friday night, with two girl friends, wanted some good delicious cakes while we chat, laugh and catchup. We found this cafe and the decor & atmosphere is amazing. I ordered a piece of Green Tea Red Bean cake. They don't show you the price whatsoever and it came up to $8 for one piece!!! I mean it's Coquitlam and honestly we expect pricing to be a little more reasonable. Fine, maybe the taste and overall experience will justify it. I was surprised they automatically made my drink in a take out cup rather than a normal cup for dine in. It would be more environmentally friendly and also showcase any latte art. I did tell the person who was taking my order that it was for dine in. Also, there was no latte art when I opened the lid of my drink to take a look. No big deal on the latte art. Coffee is very good here especially the Spanish Latte. The decor is unique and gives off a great atmosphere. I come here weekly to get coffee after I go grocery shopping next door. Love the coffee! However, I was quite disappointed with their cake. I bought a Strawberry Cake for my girlfriends birthday and when I got home, I noticed the strawberries on the top was all dried out. Then when we cut into the cake, it was like pushing into a sponge, water was coming out of it. If I could post a video on here, I would show how much liquid was coming out of it. A decent sized cafe with a cute interior and a good atmosphere. It's generally not too loud at all and some people go there to study or work a bit. The staffs are pretty friendly and convenient location with parking spaces right outside, and the bus stops and skytrain station at walking distance. Good coffee and nice tea, the cakes are really tasty. They have some cute versions of macarons. I've went back a few times and some of my friends and family really like this place too. Came here with my bf after our first choice, Coffee Monster, was a no go. It was confusing because it stated that it was open online but as we got there, they were renovating and they had a different store name O_o It was weird. Anyways, I really like the decor of this place because it was cozy and homey. My bf had their special cold brew with cream on top which was quite interesting but not for me. It was too creamy and I could barely taste any coffee in it. I, on the other hand, had their americano which was very good. It had a strong coffee flavor and it wasn't watered down. I was hoping for some baked goods like croissants or loafs but they only offer desserts so I ended up getting one of their special french macarons. French Macarons - They came in many different flavors which each one of them had a cute character on them to represent each flavor. I got a Cookie Monster design which was chocolate hazelnut. It was very good. The edges were crisp, and the cookie itself was light and chewy. The filling was chocolaty, light and creamy. I did wish they added more hazelnut flavor in it because it was quite mild. Just a heads up, these macarons were quite steep. There wasn't any price on their display but I assume they wouldn't cost more than $2.75 since that's the most I paid for macarons. Their macarons cost $3.55 each! O_O I believe it was because of their cute designs but I wouldn't pay that much for it. I wished I knew how much they were prior so I could decide whether they worth to purchase. This is a cutely decorated place in a little dark corner in ktown. The barista is trained in Europe and everything sounded great about this place. The quality of the espresso is good, and my latte milk wasn't overcooked but it was too foamy; more like a cappuccino. Unfortunately it left a bad taste in my mouth when one of the female staff gave my sister attitude for bringing in a stroller and using the washroom to change her baby. Rather than apologizing when she went to speak to the manager, they said we could try and sue them, and were quite rude. Won't go back, there are other places with good coffee and nicer staff in more convenient locations. read more

This is my one of my favourite coffee shops in Vancouver. The atmosphere is lovely - a cross between Faubourg and Timbertrain. The interior is quite industrial looking but the music is a soft jazz music and they play a silent artsy video on the wall. Their branding is also very simple and clean and I love that they put such attention to detail - branded cup sleeves, beepers etc. I've been here 5 times in the past 2 weeks even though it's quite far away for me because I just love it here too much! I've had their Spanish Latte, Matcha Latte and their Affogato. I usually have these in rotation because they are made with such care and they taste so good! I can't wait to come back to try more of their drinks and desserts! read more
