Definitely a calming spot where you can sit and stay a while. On to the not-so-good. I got their Pistachio Matcha Latte and wasn't impressed. The matcha taste was really lacking! It largely tasted of milk with a hint of pistachio.

As a big fan of an honest hot drip coffee, I'm happy to report that the flavor was perfect. I think I got a bit carried away, though, and didn't realize my drink was sitting at the bar for a while. They may not have called it out, or perhaps I just missed it! The star of the show, however, was the roast beef sandwich. I was pretty hungry and gobbled it up; it was incredibly flavorful and had the perfect amount of sauce. I can't stand sandwiches if they're too dry, so I was glad that wasn't the case here! I'd love to come back on a weekday when it might be a bit less crowded. Otherwise, it's a very cool place to catch up with a friend!

The staff were so nice as I got greeted the second I entered the cafe. The place was cute and great for chatting with friends on weekend afternoons. Lots of windows so it's a bright space and they have lots of other drink options. I will have to try some of their snack the next time I go!

I don't know if I can compare their bubble tea to any other bubble tea shop in the city because they use such fresh ingredients mixed with high-quality tea and the end result is absolutely delicious. In just the past week I've had the chance to drink three drinks including today's not too sweet, more subtle chrysanthemum sunrise which has grapefruit chunks. Their Garden Milk Tea was super tasty with rose syrup was gulped up last week but our ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE is the Passion Fruit Vanilla Float. This drink has the perfect mix of that passion fruit punch, with the bubbles of soda from the sparkling water, sweet chunks of aloe vera, and that creamy touch of the vanilla cream. You also get the passion fruit seeds mixed in with pearls (if you order their amazing pearls) and it's seriously the BEST drink. You won't be disappointed. I've had the chance in months pass to try the matcha strawberry with strawberry chunks and it was amazingly delicious too so my top two recommendations are the Matcha Strawberry or the Passion Fruit Vanilla Float! I still need to come by for breakfast but the waffles and macarons I've had here have been delightful.

iced matcha latte with oat milk and a chance to win a whisked away to japan? okay, avik, you have…read moremy attention. stopped into avik a little after 3:00 pm on a tuesday, on my way to an appointment, and the place was packed. not exactly surprising given that this west broadway café has become known for its specialty coffee and tea, house made pastries, and all sorts of creative japanese inspired treats. it's a bright, modern space, and there's a lot going on once you start looking around. i went with the iced matcha latte with oat milk, and it was a solid matcha. smooth, nicely balanced, and definitely enough to satisfy the afternoon matcha craving. avik describes its matcha as a high grade tea offering, alongside hojicha, chai and london fog, so tea clearly gets more than an obligatory spot on the menu. then there's the pastry display. so. many. things. the strawberry matcha cookie immediately caught my eye, but then there was a mochi black sesame croissant and i was basically standing there thinking, wait, what?! the menu leans into those japanese flavours in some really fun ways, and there are enough interesting combinations to make a return visit feel very necessary. the strawberry matcha cookie, for example, combines matcha, dried strawberries, white chocolate and cream cheese. the ordering setup is also very much of the future is now variety. there's a huge tablet for self ordering, plus a sliding freezer case for chocolates and ice cream bars. because apparently a regular pastry case wasn't futuristic enough. and then there was the little bonus dangling in front of me: the chance to win a trip to japan through the whisked away to japan promotion, courtesy of paragon. considering how much i've been thinking about japan lately, that felt like a particularly well timed bit of temptation. i sure could use a trip to japan right about now. between the matcha, the creative pastries, the japanese inspired flavours and the very modern ordering setup, avik is a fun stop when the usual coffee and croissant routine needs a little shaking up. even on a packed tuesday afternoon, there was plenty to catch the eye and plenty of reasons to start planning the next visit.

I was sort of thirsting for something cooler for a change though, and the Cherry Matcha Tonic was the first "cool" drink that caught my eye so I decided to go for it. Won't do that again. Everything else was good though. The Sea Salt Caramel Gelato was the star of the show! In the store there's a sign beneath their gelato section that says "Canadian Gelato Champion". I believe it after tasting the Sea Salt Caramel! They had Nama Chocolates too. I was tempted to get some but...only so much a person's wallet and waistline can handle at one time. Will try the Nama Chocolate some other time. You can order in person here, or you can place an "Express" order at the Kiosk. We tried both ways of ordering. Ordered at the counter first and then after finished my Cherry Matcha Tonic decided I wanted to try the Sea Salt Gelato so then tried ordering that from the Kiosk. Most of the parking in this area is paid but I lucked out and got a free spot right around the corner from this place!

Flat white was tiny and tasted bit too bitter for me. There was a washroom on the rear side, but it's only open during business hours. I can only think of 3 stars for overall experience. It was too expensive for just a small pastry and coffee.

I am not a huge fan of sugar. I got a Gluten free cookie. It was overly sweet for me, I couldn't eat even half of it. I don't think the marshmallows were necessary because it's already so sweet! If you're a sweet tooth and GF, this may be the cookie for you! If it only had half of the sugar, I would've loved it. I also got the matcha latte and didn't like it at all. It was grainy and the foam threw me off. If i'm having a hot beverage with foam, I like the foam to be velvety and silky smooth. But again, that's my personal choice and me being fussy. My colleagues had wraps and one said it was delicious. Service was great. The lovely ladies who served us were friendly.
