Ordered their avocado and green apple. Had the right amount of sweetness level and their pearls were fresh even at 10pm at night. They also offer lots of food choices which is great since they open late at night. Service was fast. Ambiance is normal but still clean.
The avocado smoothie had a good taste, however the boba was painfully undercooked. You would chew what should be a busting chewy bubble of sweetness, but was rather a harder lumpy and dry ball that lacked of flavor or sweetness. I was also a bit surprised by the set up and state of the restaurant, it did not inspire you to sit and eat on site. Positive bonus for having real fruit options.
Special of the day - very berry peach and lychee with popping boba. It was a touch sweet despite asking for no sugar but perfect as a dessert.
Decent and dumpy looking bubble tea shop on Kingsway. Parking is available on the side streets, as well as metered spots in front. The place is defintiely beaten up. Reminds me of a bathroom, with all the tiles on the wall. There is a red and white section - this is from back when the place was a Megabite pizza shop. Staff were friendly and helpful. The place has a large dedicated real fruit drink section, which is worth a special mention. Dare I say it - is this the Dragon Ball of the Joyce area? The drinks definitely taste like it. Awesome. This is one of my go to spots for bubble tea going forward. Recommended.
My favourite avocado ice cream bbt and open late! The prices are still pre pandemic which is rare. They're open late too. I miss living in this neighbour hood when we used to walk here late summer nights.. sigh. I'm happy to see this location and the other one by Joyce station is thriving. The owner was also always very nice and recognized us. Keep up the good work'
Nostalgic spot for bubble tea on Kingsway. Cash or debit only. Love their specials - $5 for a large, $4.25 for a small. I got the fresh taro sago and it was just waaaay too sweet. Just pure sugar. I had to add milk when I got home. My friend got the strawberry oreo cheesecake with pearls and that was really good.
To my knowledge, Milk & Sugar is one of two places in Metro Vancouver that does not charge for pearls or coconut jelly. In a city with so many bubble tea shops (which is especially the case along the stretch of Kingsway that Milk & Sugar is located in), prices can get pretty steep; the free pearls and jelly are a definite crowd pleaser. There are a ton of options, and the owners are really creative with their weekly drink specials (example: brown sugar taro cheesecake). What I've noticed too is that there is more of an emphasis on fruity drinks. Up until last year, I only really drank fruit slushes so this place was like paradise to me! However, now I have fully embraced milk tea and on my last trip I deviated from my usual mango pineapple slush to get a milk tea. I did not see any signage about being able to adjust sugar or ice levels, so I just ordered the drink as is. Next time, I'll definitely ask though because I found the milk tea way too sweet! Or maybe I'll go back to my beloved mango pineapple drink...
Found this place on Yelp while I was looking for a good dessert place after dinner, and decided to give it a try due to the high 4/5 ratings. They had a sign outside that said what their specially discounted dessert items were. There were many options such as waffles, ice creams, and milk teas. The line was pretty long when I got there at around 9pm on Thursday night, which I waited for about 10 minutes until it was my turn to order. Normally I would ask to try the ice cream flavours before I ordered, but it didn't seem like they allow it here since they were pretty busy and they served more than ice cream here. I decided to try one scoop of the Ube flavour in a cone and it was a bit over $4, so it was pretty reasonable. However, the ice cream lacked the Ube flavour such that I had better Ube ice cream from the grocery store. It definitely didn't live up to my expectation as Ube is one of my favourite ice cream flavours, so I was left a little disappointed.
The local favourite: from the constant line ups on to the street, you can tell this joint is well loved. Milk & Sugar has been a community fixture for many, many years. I can't remember exactly when they opened, but I remember going after school for a treat. You can choose from powder, fresh fruit, or fresh fruit with ice cream. They also serve snacks like curry fish balls. We got the red bean cheesecake and the fresh papaya slush, but it actually tasted more like lychee. Good thing I like lychee... Check out their Facebook for their weekly specials! You save a buck or two :)
Super impressed with their prices and quality - I got a large White Chocolate Oreo Cheesecake slush (one of their specials) and it was only $4. They have some rotating weekly specials which are more adventurous in addition to a good selection of regular options. The slush was great, very rich and creamy, and the oreo pieces were small enough that I didn't have any get stuck in the straw. The pearls (which are complimentary) were great, super chewy and had a consistent texture, there wasn't any hardness or clumping that I sometimes see with slushes. The person who took my order was pleasant, and the atmosphere is very casual. It's not a super "instagramable" place but is kept neat and has an approachable feel, lots of posters on the walls and such. It's not super huge but it has some seating.
The truth behind my visit is that I stumbled in here looking for a cup of coffee, only to be surprised that they only serve bubble tea. The lady working the counter was so nice though that I felt bad coming in and not buying anything. So as a result, I ended up getting a large bubble tea. The second thing I noticed (the first being that they didn't have any coffee), was that they had a ton of different flavours and bbt options. I was torn between a few of the fruit ones and my go-to taro. I decided to stick to my go-to and got a large taro bubble tea with lychee pearls. I'm not a fan of regular boba pearls, so I always think it's a plus when bubble tea shops carry different pearl options. I sat at a table and pulled out my laptop to answer some emails while waiting for my bubble tea. Not even 5 minutes later, the lovely lady who took my order brought out my bubble tea for me. This is definitely one of the better bubble teas I've had in my day. It tasted fresh, wasn't too sweet, and the lychee pearls were delicious. If this spot wasn't so far away from me, I'd come here all the time. Seems like this is a popular spot for the after school/after work crowd because after I ordered, it got packed in here. When I'm in the area next I'll definitely pop in to get more taro bubble tea and to try some of the other flavours they have.
Little sad on this one as I have been wanting to try this place out for a long time but never felt compelled to trek all the way here just to check out the drinks. I happen to be in the area for the evening and decided to try this place out. I got their weekly special which was Jasmine Milk Tea with Grass Jelly. Kind of disappointed at the drink overall. The staff didn't ask about the sugar and ice levels (which I didn't expect to as they are a local shop as to the chain stores that have it written out for customers) so I was expecting the drink to be sweet but it was not sweet at all. The tea did have a strong Jasmine flavour but it wasn't the sweet milk tea that I was expecting. As well, the grass jelly is not smooth but rather chunky so it requires biting as opposed to just slurping compared to the grass jelly that they have at Chatime. I know a lot of people who stop by here for their great local prices but I was definitely underwhelmed by the drink I got. Perhaps I should have gotten a different kind of weekly special but the drink wasn't what I'd expected.

We had dinner just a few shops away from here and decided to stop here for some bubble tea after dinner. They had a weekly special on: Brown Sugar KitKat Greentea Cheesecake. We got one of those and a Durian Smoothie. I think we somehow missed the Greentea part of this drink cuz when we got it, hubby and I were both surprised at how green the drink was. It's only now that I look back at the photo I took of the menu that I realize the word Greentea was in the name of the drink so...not so surprising anymore that our drink was green. I honestly didn't taste much Greentea in it though. Mostly I tasted KitKat and Brown Sugar. Didn't taste any kind of Cheesecake flavor in it. It wasn't a bad drink but I think I prefer the fruity drinks that we've had from this place in the past. I think I'd have also preferred this drink to be slightly less sweet than it was. We brought our drinks home and had them while watching a movie. Hubby sat further back in the room while our daughter and I sat in the front of the room, but I could still smell the Durian smoothie from where we were sitting! read more

Amazing drinks that aren't too sweet and come with lots and lots of boba. I got a red bean cheese cake drink that had a very natural and unprocessed flavor. The service was quick and very friends. Definitely recommend this place for a late night sweet treat or afternoon bite! read more

Their weekly special keeps me returning here and the price is just unbeatable. Normally bubble tea in other places (eg. GongCha, Coco etc) probably charge around $4 , and Milk and Sugar is definetely cheaper than other places. I had Jasmine Grass Jelly Milk Tea on Friday (small $2.99) it was tasty. It also had a hint of Jasmine Tea flavour as well. I would go back there whenever possible. read more

This place was packed with customers!! It's not a bad shop but I honestly have had better boba elsewhere. Came here out of curiosity based on the Yelp reviews. Menu is extensive and lots of different combinations really. But the test for me is the quality of the boba itself. It tasted fresh but very natural tasting. It doesn't appear to be made with sugar or honey so I wasn't too crazy about it. I ordered a strawberry lemon drink (made with fresh fruit). It was more like a fruity slush. But only problem is when the drink is that cold, your boba hardens (which I personally don't prefer). Also ordered a mango cheesecake flavor which was okay. I probably won't come back even though I love the restaurants in the area. Luckily for me, Happy Lemon, Sharetea, Gonga Cha and Yi Fang are just down the street on Kingsway (literally minutes away). read more

I actually don't go to bubble tea restaurants anymore but I feel that Milk & Sugar gives you the best bang for your buck and the ingredients are of high-quality! First of all, their prices are very reasonable and they have two sizes for you to choose from. The small ($3.50 - 500 ml) is the perfect size while the large ($5.00 -750ml) is good for sharing. These prices are incredibly reasonable because they actually do use real fruit and they blend it very well, producing a refreshing and thirst quenching slush. I had requested for half sweet, and it was just perfect! Anyways, they have a plethora of different fruit combinations and you can actually create your own if you want. I came at 10:30pm so there weren't too many people but I heard that they get really packed on weekend afternoons. PS. Their pearls are perfectly cooked! Super soft and chewy. read more
This boba / dessert cafe was packed but offered interesting items on the menu like lychee green tea cheesecake, if I remember correctly. The person taking orders was nice but it was hard to hear him due to it being so loud in there. Apparently they don't always have all the flavors listed on their menu board in current stock so have to confirm that before getting your taste buds set on something before ordering. Since lychee ice cream was out, I got a salted caramel + waffle and strawberry and my friend got a cantaloupe, melon bubble tea. We were happy with what we got - Everything was fresh and very good... Since it took a few minutes to get my waffle, the owner was very nice to give me some mango ice cream with mini tapioca to hold me over, which was a kind gesture and tasted surprisingly refreshing and good! Happy to find another good boba place in the city ! read more
$2 bubble tea specials! Are you kidding me? I should have tried it (they have two flavours on rotation) but I was too tempted by all their fresh fruit bubble tea combinations. Clearly, I should have done the smart thing and got two drinks...but that might have been slightly excessive. Milk & Sugar Café is your typical BBT hangout with paper specials plastered on the walls and TV's showing sport highlights to help entertain you/ignore your friends, while you wait for your bubble tea to be made fresh. It'll take a few minutes but you can hear and see them making everything, which is awesome. Look at all the fresh fruit combinations. Holy crap, so many tasty options and price is very reasonable ($4.25 large and $3.50 small for fresh fruit). Next time I'll have to try their papaya passionfruit. They all sound so good. - Mango avocado ($4.25 for a large) - I don't know why I've never had this combo before but it's delicious. You get that creamy avocado texture mixed with the sweetness of the mango. YUM. Haven't had an avocado bubble tea this good since Hawaii. - Fresh durian ($5.25 for a large) - beware of smell, it is potent. My one friend couldn't handle it and was having a meltdown from the odor. Sure, it's smelly but it actually has a pretty interesting taste. Worth a try if you've never had it. Once you pop open the lid, it just oozes durian. - Green tea cheesecake ($2.00 small + $0.50 for sago) - small is pretty reasonably sized (you can upgrade to a large for $1.00). Seriously though, you can't go wrong with a bubble tea for less than $3.00! I had a taste and the cheesecake flavour is prominent. We were guessing that they added a scoop of cheesecake ice cream to make it more creamy. All in all, I really liked Milk & Sugar Café. If I lived in town, this would definitely be a spot I'd frequent often. They also have ice cream, Asian snacks and a few other desserts if you're craving some non-bubble tea related drinks. read more

This place is busy. But the drink is not bad. They have the powder and fresh juice option. One thing about this place is there is not enough seats. As well its not a great place to meet up with friends inside the bubble tea place. The bubble tea shaker makes a lot of noise. I think its because the sound proofing isn't that great in the bubble tea place. Can give you a headach if you stay too long inside listening the rumble of the bubble tea shaker. I like the fact that you can create your own drink. I had the lychee passion fruit with coconut jelly. Bubbles and coconut jelly are free. This is a plus at my end because I love coconut jelly. I have been here before and will definitely come back. read more
