Amazing flavours and in some months proceeds from sales go towards non-profits or charitable organizations. Recently in September they had Ube and Leche Flan as seasonal flavours that blew our mind. For October we have thoroughly enjoyed the pecan pie, apple crumble and biscoff. All of their staples are also amazing but I have not had them in a while as their seasonal flavours draw us in. On certain days of the week, there are discounted items like Taco Tuesday (ice cream tacos, that is) and Sundaes on Sundays! Staff are efficient and quick. Pints are $11 which is usually what we buy to enjoy ice cream on the couch late at night. Space is bright and airy. You'll always see a long line up outside during the summers especially but it's worth the wait! The waffle cones smell and taste sooooo good. There weren't too many choices but you can sample 2 flavours on one stick. I tried honey lavender, salted caramel, earl grey and the one I chose was the coffee toffee. Rain or Shine has several locations throughout the lower mainland and this one, located in Kitsilano has space for seating inside and out (street patio). As with all locations, line ups are common but they are generally well staffed to handle the crowds. If I had to choose between Vancouver "middle school" ice cream shops Earnest or Rain or Shine, Rain or Shine would win by a small margin. It's that signature malted milk chocolate honeycomb!!! As well, they have inventive "fresh sheet" flavours and I do prefer the ice cream richness a touch better over Earnest. This is preference of course; you do you. We visited Rain or Shine Ice Cream twice in our few days in Vancouver. So why not 5 stars? I will get to that. First, the good. Their ice cream is awesome and the waffle cones were fantastic. And really, that is by far the most important thing in an ice cream shop. I had the malted chocolate honeycomb on both trips because it was excellent. The star deduction came because of this: Our first visit was to the truck they had parked down at English Bay Beach. Our timing was off because they were close to closing time and so they told us we could not sample anything (despite the person in front of us getting that opportunity). It worked out because the worker suggested the malted chocolate honeycomb and it was great. A similar issue popped up at at the Kits location. We waited in a very long line. When we got to the front, my kid wanted to try one of the flavors so I said I would go ahead and try that one as well since she was getting it. I tried another and when I wanted one last sample, I was told only two. Now, I have no problem with a store setting whatever policy they want when it comes to sampling their product. It was probably crazy to decide to let people go wild sampling anything they wanted before they decided what to buy - I'm sure that adds up to a lot of "lost" product. However, the problem is in not advertising that upfront. I would have made very different choices had I known I could only try two. If two was only the policy because the line was long, then let everyone know when they get to the front of the line. If it's always the policy, post it! The ice creams I ended up with were still excellent, so well done. read more

Very yummy ice cream with unique flavours. They have many locations but we went to the one located near kitsilano beach on 4th avenue. I tried the London fog and malt milk chocolate flavours and they were both creamy and delicious. My friend got the peanut butter crunch and the peanut butter flavour was so tasty, will definitely be getting this next time. Today was the day. Went to Rain or Shine ice cream truck at English Bay and got a blueberry balsamic waffle cone for $7. First lick and waffle cone just fell apart. The online ordering process is very straightforward, you can choose 2 flavours and the cake base, and you can ask them to include a special note on the cake as well as notify them of any allergies, etc. The cakes were $35 each, which in my opinion is a pretty great price for the quality you get. The first cake we got was Honey Lavender and London Fog with the brownie base, and they decorated it with raspberries and brownie pieces. I'm not sure just how long their Honey Lavender Ice Cream is in stores but it is something to be reveled while it is here with us. Paired perfectly well, the honey compliments and does not drown out the floral delicacy of the lavender. The flavor felt real, authentic, whole- not syrupy or manufactured. And the proverbial "icing on the cake," there are little lavender buds incorporated into the ice cream giving the whole experience a wholesome experience. My only issue was that I opted for multiple flavors on my cone and it really should have been dedicated solely to the lavender. I think I've said enough about the Lavender. You get it. I have been a huge fan of Rain or Shine for years but this is my first time at this location as it is not summertime and there are no long lineups. I decided to get the single scoop with 2 flavours, I like to do this because I'm able to try more flavours and not eat too much ice cream. I decided to get the salted caramel flavour which is on their regular menu and the white chocolate malt brownie which is on their seasonal menu. The two flavours tasted really well together, I wish that the brownie had a more chocolate flavour but I liked that the chunks were really big. The star of the show was the salted caramel... I think Rain or Shine might have the best salted caramel ice cream in Vancity.. yes even better than Earnest who had the #1 title for years LOL!
