Taco Tuesday with Ube and yuzu matcha
Joanna L.

I love this place! I can never resist stopping by whenever I'm in the area -- it's basically become a ritual. The staff are always friendly, and I love that everything here is 100% compostable -- major bonus points for sustainability! If I had one small gripe, it's the two-sample limit. I totally get that it keeps the line moving (and it's always busy for a reason!), but it does make it tough when you're curious about multiple flavors -- especially if you're already planning to buy two scoops. A little more wiggle room would make the experience perfection. Pro tip: Taco Tuesday is the ultimate treat yourself day. I had the Ube and Matcha Yuzu combo -- heavenly! Pair it with whipped cream and candied hazelnuts, and thank me later.

Lovely spot for ice cream on West 4th. Love all the seasonal flavors as well as their classics. You also get to try two samples. We got the double scoop in a cup and it was a great serving shared between two people. The biscoff flavor is so good!

I've always seen long line ups here until today while we were walking by and decided to enjoy some ice cream. I always order mine with a waffle cone which were freshly made. There weren't too many choices but you can sample 2 flavours on one stick. I tried honey lavender, salted caramel, earl grey and the one I chose was the coffee toffee. I think I needed the caffeine flavour kick at this mid afternoon time. The waffle cone could have been a little crispier but will definitely be back for another one.

Peanut butter crunch, London fog and malt milk chocolate

Very yummy ice cream with unique flavours. They have many locations but we went to the one located near kitsilano beach on 4th avenue. I tried the London fog and malt milk chocolate flavours and they were both creamy and delicious. My friend got the peanut butter crunch and the peanut butter flavour was so tasty, will definitely be getting this next time. There's usually a long line as it's a go to spot for many, not a surprise.

We tried Rain or Shine at UBC last year and loved it. This time we decided to go to Rain or Shine on West 4th; we enjoyed the ice cream so much that we came back again the following week! Raspberry Sorbet with Vegan Chocolate Sauce Cracked Mint with Sprinkles Vegan Delight Cracked Mint and Vanilla Milkshake with sprinkles on top They have all sorts of interesting flavors and combinations at this shop. The Make Your Own options are quite fun; I love that they even have some Vegan options on their menu! (Although I do wish they would put just a few more Vegan options on their menu) Regardless of whether there is rain or shine outside, the yummy treats at this place are sure to bring a smile to your face! Service: Good Parking: Paid parking on the street Location: 1926 West 4th Ave., Vancouver, BC

Flight with coffee toffee, london fog, cracked mint, and apple pie

I'm back in California but I'm still dreaming about the ice cream from Rain or Shine. My friend even tried to ask if we could order pints to take mail home, LOL! We tried the flight of 4 scoops that included coffee toffee, London fog, cracked mint, and apple pie. Each flavor was super unique and you can tell that they spend a lot of time perfecting each flavor. The scoop sizes are also really generous for the price as well. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in the area!

Delicious and creamy ice cream. Great service. Cute decor, some seating inside. Good window seating. Recommend for ice cream lovers.

Blueberry balsamic waffle cone $7

Today was the day. Went to Rain or Shine ice cream truck at English Bay and got a blueberry balsamic waffle cone for $7. First lick and waffle cone just fell apart. The ball of ice cream broke free of the waffle cone and on to the ground, covered in sand. Didn't get to taste the ice cream but waffle cones are obviously poorly made.

One of my favourite ice cream places. London Fog is my all-time favourite flavor. Great seasonal options.

The folks working there were kind and professional. They looked like wickedly good witches as they added natural ingredients to their metal cauldrons, and then added the liquid nitrogen, creating a rapidly rising fog. So, really, you are getting ice cream and a show! The concoctions emerged as super smooth, not too sweet, distinct fresh flavorful ice cream. It is a small shop with limited seating, so not likely to be a comfie sit down experience for you given how popular the place is, but it is easy food to take to go and a very nice area for a stroll. So, that's the scoop! ;)

We tried the ice cream sandwich, the creme brulee cup, and the s'mores bar. I would say everything was good, but probably not something we would get again. After a while it just got a little too sweet and the portion was a little big so we didn't finish most of it. The next time I go if I ever go again I would just get one thing and share it because a bite or two is probably all you need to satisfy your sweet craving.

It was super crowded in there. Super full from dinner so I just shared 2 scoops of ice cream with my husband and my daughter. We had coffee ice cream and vegan cookies n cream ice cream. The ice cream here is awesome and the scoops were very generous. Only thing is...I wasn't a fan of how crowded and noisy it was inside. Had so much trouble hearing when people were talking to me. I much prefer the North Vancouver location of Earnest Ice Cream which is more spacious and less crowded. I can hear myself think more at the North Vancouver location. Parking was challenging. There's free parking on the street but only if you're lucky enough to snag a spot. It was very busy when I first arrived. I circled several times before I finally got lucky and a car pulled out of its spot on Fraser St. As soon as I saw that a car was leaving I parked in the same spot as soon as I possibly could.

I ordered the Original Peak, with a twist of vanilla and dark chocolate with cereal at the bottom. The first thing that stood out was the airy and fluffy texture, almost lighter than traditional soft serve. The dark chocolate brought a mild cocoa note, while the cereal added a crunchy, slightly nostalgic contrast at the base. That said, I expected the vanilla to have more of a rich, milky flavor. This is not the place for plain vanilla; it's the combinations (think honeycomb, matcha, or seasonal specials) that bring the experience to life. Based on the shop's concept, Soft Peaks is known for using local organic milk and keeping sweetness restrained, which tracks with that lighter, less sugary profile. Adding something like cereal or crunchy toppings makes a big difference. If you're a vanilla purist looking for a strong dairy note, this might feel a bit subtle.

When getting the matcha ice cream, I suggest getting straight matcha instead of the twist with vanilla because the vanilla washes out the matcha; it comes through better on its own. The sundaes are fun and a good, more affordable alternative to the similar parfaits at high end matcha cafes. I tried the tuna egg salad crepe and thought it was actually really good! The crepe was fresh and tender, there was a healthy amount of filling, and the tuna salad was actually mostly tuna with just enough mayo to hold it together which is how I prefer it. Again, the service is just through a window - you actually order at an electronic kiosk and the only interaction with a person is when your order is ready. There are two small tables outside if you want to eat there. During the busy summer season, it's very difficult to actually secure one of these tables, but there's other seating on the pedestrian streets just a few blocks away on Robson.
