4 star because seating were very limited. Good thing it wasn't too busy at the store so we were able to stand off to the side to eat our ice-cream and chatted for a little while. My matcha dipped ice cream was their $5.99 promo and hands down it was rich, delicious, creamy, and flavourful. The portion is just right too. My friend got the crème brûle sandwich and she was beyond stuffed and sick of it by the end of it.. will likely share it next time.
It turns out that it is possible to have too much of a good thing. I came here after dinner and ordered the s'mores ice cream bar on a stick. I went for the large size because why not. It was just a little bit too good. I think I took about three bites of it and that was enough. I do recommend this place but a little bit goes a long way!
I truly don't know what the hype is about except for the fact that sugar was sprinkled on 2 sides of an ice cream sandwich and torched for a creme brûlée affect. The sandwich was not extra delectable or anything. Just a regular chocolate cookie with vanilla ice cream. I fell for the gimick and reviewers saying it's the best ice cream they've ever tasted. Not in this case, sadly.
Why 5 stars? Because there are few ways I can imagine the combination of desserts being more enjoyable. --- --- --- After dinner, we were on the hunt for something sweet and ended up at Mister. The wife had gelato and loved it the night before, but I was intrigued at the possibility of something different. How about a thick Oreo popsicle with a layer of cream applied to the outside, that's then burnt with a mini flame thrower? HOW ABOUT THAT? Yeah, it was just as amazing as it sounds. I don't know if I'd ever get tired of eating this. Good thing it's located thousands of miles away from my home because my daily caloric intake would sky rocket if I were a Downtown Vancouverian.
My best friends told me that I needed to visit Mister on my trip to Vancouver. I didn't know what Mister was until the photo that they also sent had loaded. First thing I saw was the toasted Marshmallow fluff. Sold. I ended up finding three locations but this Yaletown location of Mister Artisan Ice Cream was closest. Not knowing what they ordered, I ended up getting the Full order of the Nanaimo Ice Cream Bar. For those who don't know what a Nanaimo is (I definitely didn't either), it's vanilla frozen custard base with cocoa graham cracker crust with almond and coconut toppings and a chocolate dipped shell. By the time they handed it to me, I wanted to say 'but where's the fluff', but thought against it since I had already received it with my hands. It was delightful, as I greatly enjoyed that combination. The chocolate dipped shell was also the perfect balance. I still needed to get the Fluff. I went to Mister Artisan Ice Cream again the next day. Somehow casually adding it into our travel plans. Ended up getting the Full Oreo S'mores Bar, after doing more research and going onto the website. The Oreo S'mores was slightly different with the bar being made of Oreo ice cream base wit Oreo crust, chocolate dipped shell, and toasted marshmallow fluff on top. The combination of the Oreo S'mores wasn't as dynamic of a combination as the Nanaimo Bar, but the Toasted Marshmallow Fluff really took it to a whole new level. I do wish that they had Marshmallow Fluff on EVERYTHING.
The perfect sweet treat for after a good meal! After my friends and I had dinner, we wanted to get a sweet treat (as one does, of course) and we stumbled upon Mister! We came here 30 minutes before their closing time and luckily, they were still open and willing to serve us. I ordered the creme brulee ice cream and honestly, I will be thinking about this ice cream for months. The creme brulee had that perfect sugary top and mixed in with the vanilla ice cream, it is the perfect creamy treat. The vanilla ice cream base is probably my new favorite vanilla ice cream of all time. We did come here a second time and I did order the creme brulee again but on a cone and unfortunately they do not do the creme brulee torched sugar top but since I loved the vanilla ice cream so much, I still ended up getting it with the cone. The cone was also super crispy and freshly made. It does get super packed on a Friday night since the second time we came here, it was around 9 PM on a Friday so be aware of longer lines. Overall, I would definitely come back here again!
Gorgeous looking ice cream treats with unique flavors and elements that are sure to delight any human being with eyes. We had a lavendar brulée bar, coated with matcha (think of a chocolate coating on an ice cream bar, but it's a green matcha maybe white chocoalte based coating). They were nice enough to split in two so my not so hungry wife and I could enjoy it without also exploding. It really was a delicious treat and we wish we lived in Vancouver as we'd head back and try a lot more. It was fun watching them make it too...dipping the matcha..."brulée-ing" it with little hand torches...the fog that happens as they make the ice cream itself right in front of you is a unique sight to behold. Service was friendly and quick. It's a small store front, so not many places to sit or be with your ice cream...but it's good enough that you'll forget all about that as you enjoy it. This is definitely a step above your average ice cream scoop shop with unique and tasty products that are beutiful, and a unique expereicne watching them being made.
I debated between a 3 and 4 star rating but the quaintness of this store and creative preparation of the ice cream using nitrogen will bumps this up to a 4 star rating We spotted this Yaletown tiny place the night before we ended up trying it. Lines are long and there is no seating but the instagram-able creations led us back here on a night we had a light dinner and 10 mile hike earlier that day I really wanted the s'mores ice cream sandwich which was torched with marshmallow ( who wouldn't want to try that ) however for the base you had to get chocolate ice cream or Oreo and I'm not a fan of either flavor ( yes I realize those are the correct flavors for s'mores anything but I am just not a chocolate fan ). I went with a strawberry mint ice cream sandwhich - 2 flavors I absolutely adore. The combo worked somewhat . It was good. Not great. Not amazing but good. Nothing to rave about and the ice cream sandwich felt premade, a bit bland, and a little too frozen ( it's really the only way I can think to describe it ). Husband went for the vegan macha as he is dairy free and it was pretty good too ( creamier than mine with a more frozen yogurt consistency). Overall, we liked it. We got our pics, we tried something new and unique and had a lovely night.
This small ice cream shop is the perfect stop for dessert any day. Unfortunately, there is very limited seating so expect to take your frozen treat to go. This was the only negative about the experience. Just know, it is worth it for the nitrogen-infused deliciousness you will be taking with you. I went here with a group of 7 people. The two staff on shift managed to take and make all of our orders very quickly and were friendly enough. It was a treat in itself to watch the staff, through the glass, making our orders and mixing them with the nitrogen. I ordered one scoop in a cup of the vegan genmaicha and was amazed at how smooth and creamy it was with just enough sweetness. I will definitely be back here to try more of their vegan/gluten free options!
This ice cream shop is very minimalistic with a lot of cool tones/grey. There aren't any samples because the ice cream is made fresh with liquid nitrogen. However, watching the staff make the ice cream was so cool! The smokey effect from the liquid nitrogen was very impressive and the texture of the ice cream was unlike any other ice cream I've had before. It was so creamy and smooth and I really liked that the strawberry mint flavour was fruity and fresh. I almost couldn't taste the mint. The ice cream is on the more pricier side, but I think it's worth a try!
YUMMM if you like ice cream sandwiches, this is the place for you ---Creme Brulee ice cream sandwich: SO nice! I usually think creme brulees have too thick of a sugar crust, but Mister somehow makes the sugar crust perfectly light and thin Wish we had time to come back to try their other asian ice cream flavors
Came by as we had a craving for ice cream. Location is easy to get to, SkyTrain accessible & walkability score of Yaletown is quite good. Service is just the service /order counter. Friendly staff, offered some suggestions. Few chairs for sitting at the front table bar near the window and on sunny days, there is always the waterfront/harbour for a nice walk. Tried the Hong Kong Milk Tea Ice cream scoop. More "tea" taste than the milk & sugar one may expect. I wouldn't call it quite a hong Kong Milk tea taste though. Partner had the Creme Brulee Ice Cream Sandwich. The creme brulee top/sides were slightly singed but could have been more evenly torched in my opinion. It did get quite sweet the more you ate. Overall, nice place but better places for ice cream in my opinion.
I've gone to Mister a lot in the past. My usual favourites are the Earl Grey and Thai Tea. This time I got the Strawberry Mint seasonal flavour though. It was pretty good. The strawberries were very fresh and the mint flavour was well-balanced -- not too strong or weak. The only con is that it's too expensive and too small. It's cool that they can make any flavour one at a time but making it with liquid nitrogen feels like a gimmick. I don't see much of a quality difference from other ice cream spots (e.g., Earnest, Banter, Rocky Point). Service is great and very fast. Inside the store is very small and there are only a few bar seats.

My boyfriend and I happened upon this artisan ice cream shop in Yaletown and we were impressed. We tried the dark chocolate (magnificent) and the matcha (more subtle and for the true pure matcha flavor lover) ice creams and enjoyed seeing the folks there make our ice cream from scratch using liquid nitrogen. The folks working there were kind and professional. They looked like wickedly good witches as they added natural ingredients to their metal cauldrons, and then added the liquid nitrogen, creating a rapidly rising fog. So, really, you are getting ice cream and a show! The concoctions emerged as super smooth, not too sweet, distinct fresh flavorful ice cream. It is a small shop with limited seating, so not likely to be a comfie sit down experience for you given how popular the place is, but it is easy food to take to go and a very nice area for a stroll. Came here because my friend likes it. I got the creme brulee ice cream. I wish the caramelized sugar was thicker. The sugar to ice cream ratio felt a bit off. My friend got the toasted marshmallow ice cream, which he really enjoyed but I thought a bit sweet. read more

Our last night in Vancouver, and I really wanted to check Mister out for an after dinner treat. After receiving a recommendation as I couldn't decide between 2 flavors, I went with the Hong Kong Milk Tea with the brulee topping and so glad I did. The milk tea flavor really came through and very much tasted like the strong milk teas I've had in Hong Kong cafes. The ice cream was also very creamy. It was kinda pricey at $7+, but the quality was definitely there. read more

Got the Crème Brûlée Ice Cream Sandwich! Love how the sandwich part is Oreo crusted and the brûlée sides gave the ice cream a nice texture when eating it. Definitely something I couldn't find back at home in CA so glad I got to try it when I was in Vancouver! read more
Business was fairly steady. Wanted to try this place so came here after dinner. Ordered the Ube ice cream and it was pretty good. At $8, it is premium pricing. Decent but not sure I would come that often since $8 is pretty expensive for ice cream. Also tried the creme brulee bar which was good too. read more
Can't say I've ever tried made-to-order ice cream before, which is the specialty here. I thought it might just be a gimmicky thing, but the result is a uniquely dense and smooth ice cream. I tried the vegan genmaicha flavour, which tasted like it was made with quality tea. They have a modest selection of flavours which all sounded interesting, although I think the genmaicha was the only vegan option. I think they rotate different flavours in and out seasonally. I was there on a Friday evening but there wasn't actually much of a crowd at all, just 2 people waiting for their orders before me and a big family that came after, so I didn't have to wait very long. I'd get this ice cream again! read more
This was a fantastic ice cream place -- probably the best ice cream I've had in my life. Would definitely recommend for anybody visiting the Vancouver area. The brûlée was fresh and don't right in front of your eyes. The nitrogen concept was interesting -- not sure what it did for the ice cream flavor but overall it was just really fresh ice cream with a tasty toasty brûlée layer outside. We tried the Oreo S'mores Bar -- usually am nota marshmallow person but the s'mores was light and really tasted good with the brûlée . The crème brûlée sandwich was my favorite! The oreo coating is really well done. I would probably recommend the sandwich over the bar, because it was easier to where and eat overall. Bar fell off the stick into the tray after we ate half of it. 10/10 best ice cream I've had. read more
We wandered upon this cute ice cream place when we were browsing in the area. The unique flavors on the menu and even more unique presentation of the ice cream that other customers were happily eating drew us in. We are so happy we ended up going in and trying one for ourselves because it was delicious We got the lavender brûlée sandwich and watched the server torch it for the brûlée effect. The lavender taste was a little subtle but still good and we loved the graham cracker crust which paired nicely with the still solid ice cream. We'd come back to try different flavors! read more
What an experience. Was it lightly snowing, yes. Did we still get specialty flavored ice cream, yes. As a s'mores fiend, I had to get the torched ice cream bar and I gotta say I wasn't a huge fan of the smoky flavor. I know s'mores includes some smoke because it's marshmallows and chocolate melted on graham crackers over a fire, but this had that butane kind of taste I couldn't shake off. The rest of the bar was delicious and I'm glad we stopped. read more
One of my favorite dessert spots I've been too. What a creative idea! I love smores so when I saw you can have a smores ice cream sandwhich I had to run. I love how you can build your own, it wasn't too sweet and i loved the smokey taste of the marshmellow and the creaminess of the ice cream. read more
This ice cream bar is really popular but I found it boring in flavor and I do not want to try again. Their selling point is the liquid nitrogen which in their word will make the ice cream into a richer, creamier, denser one. And they charge for an expensive price. I tried the matcha icecream sandwich, do not have any flavor at all, no bitterness of the tea and no sweetness of the cream. But better than cloy sweetness that you may find at most places at US. read more
We were attracted by the flavors and combos they offered and the pics! My friend got the creme brûlée which looks really yummy and interesting to watch as they burned the sugar. I got the chocolate covered in matcha. I was having trouble figuring out what a good combo would be and this seemed safe haha. Ice cream bar was looked like a literal brick! I couldn't even finish it, there was so much. Def good flavor though. Not sure if I'd pick this place over Nero waffles to satisfy my sweet tooth, but they are completely different types of dessert so whatever you're feelin' that day. read more
Tried their Thai Milk Tea (I think it's a seasonal/limited time menu item). Really smooth liquid nitrogen icecream - it melts a LOT quicker than regular icecream/gelato, so you've been warned. Rich flavours with a subtle tea flavour, and I really liked their crispy and fresh waffle cone. Super super close to Yaletown Roundhouse skytrain station (literally less than 5 min. walk). Takeout only, there are no seats inside. There are plenty of benches outside the store, that is perfect on a sunny day. I've had their ice cream sandwiches before too, and those are delicious too. read more
What could be better than mixing your love for ice cream and science? Stop in at Mister in the Yaletown section of Vancouver to watch liquid nitrogen create an ice-cream like substance--for me the ice cream was a bit hard, more like HaloTop straight from the freezer, and not as creamy/flavorful as other ice cream/gelato. That said, Mister was a fun experience (the staff knows you might want to take pictures/video of the bars being created and position their hands behind the glass accordingly) and overall not too long of a wait (only 6 customers permitted inside at a time). I also appreciated that Nanaimo Bar* was available as a bar, as it's a dessert I'd previously only read about in a Canadian author's book series. Get a half bar or splurge for the full bar--I highly recommend the Oreo S'mores bar, which has plenty of oreo cookie and gooey toasted marshmallow. *Nanaimo bar is a no-bake dessert from British Columbia that traditionally consists of three layers: a graham wafer crumb and shredded coconut base, custard-flavored butter icing in the middle, and a chocolate ganache on top. read more

After lunch, we visited Mister for some refreshing liquid nitrogen ice cream. They open at 2 PM, so we were still a bit early and had to wait outside the place. Once we were able to enter and place our orders, the workers worked diligently in preparing the ice cream. I decided to go with the Hong Kong Milk Tea Ice Cream and I enjoyed it! It definitely had that HK Milk Tea flavor that I like with the perfect amount of sweetness and creaminess. The liquid nitrogen texture also gave the ice cream that extra uniqueness and I enjoyed it! read more
Hong Kong milk tea as an ice cream flavour?!!! Never seen that or had that before. This was during the BC Day long weekend. It seemed to be a limited flavour as it's not available every time like their anchor flavours Crème Brûlée, Dark Chocolate, Double Oreo, and the vegan options of Vanilla Oat Milk and Matcha Oat Milk. To my surprise that it was REALLY good! It had the exact taste of the red tea bitterness in a typical Hong Kong milk tea plus the smoothness of milk and the right amount of sweetness. The server mentioned that I could have a choice of ice cream or ice cream sandwich. Of course ice cream sandwich! The crust was another master piece to appreciate on its own. It was like the cheesecake crust made of Graham crackers. Perfect pairing! Yummy! Their limited flavours are worth checking out. However, you have to try their anchor flavours, too. read more

Lady working wasn't into smiling or greeting. Ice cream here is pretty overrated and underwhelming. Creme brûlée was okay. The chocolate s'mores was pretty disappointing. The marshmallow itself was tasty, but the graham cracker texture was odd, and the chocolate ice cream lacked any flavor. And the ice cream texture was really weird, almost like it was freeze dried and hard. Fun concept. Not that great in flavors which is what matters most. read more
The ice cream was good, but no where good enough to justify the price. They claim it's creamier due to be being made with dry ice. However, it tasted pretty similar to all small batch ice cream. The line was long and the customer service was lacking. I wasn't impressed enough to recommend a visit. read more
