Even on a chilly weekday evening, there was quite the line but it moved fast; my friend and I tried two March feature flavours (carrot cake and mini eggs which had butterfly pea flower to make it blue). The carrot cake pieces were moist and plenty and really made it decadent; tasted exactly like a good ol' spiced cake! While I did find the mini eggs flavour a tad on the sweet end, I could still appreciate the creamy base. Will be back to try more flavours read more

Wow! Loved this spot. Fantastic dairy-free options. We ordered the vegan PB&J and vegan cookies & cream. Both were OUT OF THIS WORLD! It's very hard to find tasty vegan ice cream and this place has it. The line was fairly long - went out the door and wrapped around the exterior of the building, but the team is efficient so the wait wasn't bad. Seating is a bit limited but we were still able to find space for our party of 10. Service was very friendly, and they let you sample/try different flavors. Crossed the ocean to get here--but literally though on the Seabus! Stayed in Downtown Vancouver near Gastown so we took the 15 minute seabus to cross! It was about an 8-10 mins walk from the station and was well worth the travel! It was in a nice area with lots of doggies and park/benches/table area. The line was out the door when we got there but we were able to get our ice cream fast! They had the best london fog ice cream (my bf is now a fan) and I loved my matcha! So creamy and not overpowering match flavor and they have the option for you to put your coned ice cream in a cup. More awesome that they had water fountain near the door and a clean restroom! I love the interior of the place and there's seating area. However, it's usually very busy and a bit noisy inside. Whenever I've gone at night, the line has been out around the corner. When you get to order, the service is quick and you're allowed to taste test. They use silver spoons and I like their commitment to sustainability. I had the seasonal carrot cake ice cream and it tasted like real carrot cake. It even had cake chunks in it. I'm not a big fan of creamy ice cream because I find it a bit heavy so this isn't for me personally but people who do would love Earnest. The pay off for how long you have to wait compared to other places isn't worth it for me but it's worth trying out if you've never been. read more

For our first time in Vancouver, family suggested that we must go to Ernest Ice Cream before we leave. So we headed there on a late night. I got a Double Scoop with the cone upside down in the cup, which is how I usually get ice cream. We ordered the London Fog and the Chocolate Hazelnut Brownie. The London Fog was impeccable. I love flowery and anything Earl Grey, so this was perfect. The Chocolate Hazelnut was great too, solid flavor and loved the brownie chunks in it too. It was like a sweet little surprise. For both ice cream flavors, the consistency was perfect. It was very creamy yet very smooth, delicious, and the flavor shined in each bite. It was also the perfect amount of sweetness too. The ambiance and overall aesthetic was nice; it was clean, very cute white brick touches, and also a little industrial. When we arrived, we were very lucky. Apparently having a line out the door was common. There was no line at all, and service went really smooth. I was surprised at our wait time. And even if we did have to wait in a long line, Earnest Ice Cream would be worth it. I don't know when I'll be back but when I do, I'll make it a point to come here :) read more

I was recommended this place when visiting and I was surprised by the line outside the door when we arrived. Luckily we just wanted to get the pint so there was a separate and shorter line to enter. We got in just in time to avoid a really long wait in line, but our moderate wait was definitely worth it. I had a salted chocolate with rye cookie ice cream that was really excellent. Everyone else was also happy with their selections. One thing that was interesting to me was that after we told the service person what we wanted, we were sent out of line to wait a bit. It took several minutes to get all of our orders scooped and ready. No issue with the wait, it was just the first time I'd been to an ice cream shop that didn't just do it right there while you waited. I hope this helps move the line through faster! Really good ice cream! All of their ice creams are bursting with natural flavour. They have good vegan choices and the vegan flavours that I've tried are basically indistinguishable from dairy ice cream. One thing I really like about their ice cream with mix-ins is that the chunks of whatever it is - fruit, cookies, etc. - are big! I love the textural contrast and Earnest does it so well. Also, if you like matcha, I think their matcha ice cream is probably the highest quality hard matcha ice cream in the city. This location in particular gets long line-ups and they can move slowly because of people getting samples before choosing. But hey, you can sample! I'm not sure if there's a limit but I myself have gone up to 3. Single scoop is currently $5.5, which is pretty decent since they're very big scoops, and no extra charge for a cone! The best ice cream in Vancouver! My favorite is the whiskey hazelnut and I usually keep a pint in my freezer. I decided to try something else this time. I had the chocolate hazelnut brownie in a cone. It was so good with real pieces of brownie embedded in the scoop of ice cream. The cone was also tasty. It is take out only due to covid. So you will see people standing outside enjoying their ice cream, especially on sunny days. There are bins outside their door so you can dispose of your used napkins and cups.
