On the menu it says you can choose between brussels or liege but the cashier never asked even after paying. I had to ask whether I could choose and they said yes. The waffle was so disappointing. Came here recently for the BOGO free Watermelon drink deal. That deal was over but they still had a BOGO 50% off deal on the Watermelon drinks so I came back for that deal ended. I'm surprised out of all the bubble tea spots I've been to in Burnaby I have yet to come to the one spot that offers all you can drink bubble tea! We decided to have dessert and a drink here. My friend liked her lavender tea latte and the lychee Yakult drink I got was refreshing. We shared the matcha bingsu which was really nice. Finely shaved ice which looked like snow. It was infused with the matcha flavor. It also came with red beans, mochi and almond flakes. I still wish they could do a mini individual size portion which was available in some Korean bingsu franchise. Otherwise you also need to find someone else to share it and it can be hard to agree on the flavor. They are pretty slow in service though. Some customers who ordered after us got their drinks first. Never heard of Tealips Cafe but we were looking for a BBT spot after dinner. They're close to a Save on Foods. We dropped in on a Friday evening (around 8:30pm). Plenty of tables inside, but there were only a handful of people when we dropped in. The menu is split into drinks, waffles (served until 8:30pm), artisan sandwiches and bingsoo (both served until 8:00pm). Strangest thing I've seen with the time limits. One cool thing was that you could get half portion sized toppings. - 2x Waffle pop combo - strawberry mango fresh fruit slush ($6.75), tea jelly ($0.60) and raspberry liege waffle ($2.50). J went with lychee fresh fruit slush ($6.50) with pearls ($0.30), white pearls ($0.40) and mango jelly ($0.30). He opted for the milky matcha liege waffle ($2.50). The waffles were bad; dry, dense and didn't taste fresh. Sauces were generic. Drinks were slightly better. Fairly generous with the toppings. Nothing out of the ordinary at TC. 2.5 stars. read more

Honestly, we had gone to this location as it was the closest when I was babysitting my niece otherwise we would have gone a block over to a different bubble tea joint. There was nobody in the café and I could see them prepping items or unpacking things. I wasn't really welcome and then when I finally placed my one bubble tea order (a passion fruit black tea with jelly) it took forever... it seemed like the workers were hoping each other instead of just making my drink, and I ended up waiting there for quite a while before I got it. The jelly had a weird texture and it wasn't my favourite (when it usually is an easy classic flavour). With that being said, they had cute bubble tea kits which I'm sure make for a nice gift or activity to do. The store itself was clean and they serve food as well so it's probably a nice easy spot for younger groups to hang out or study over food and drinks. Ordered the tiramisu mocha waffle (Brussels) and the chicken pesto sandwich. Tiramisu mocha waffle ($14.00) was really yummy! The cream was made with marscapone cheese and everything paired really well (with the ice cream, cocoa powder, and chocolate bits)! We did find our waffles a little overly crispy- not sure if that was intended or if they might have overdone the waffles. Chicken pesto sandwich ($11.95) also hit the spot! They don't ask you for customization options but they were able to do my regular 25% sugar and less ice for bbt that you can usually get. When I try new boba places, I usually find that they fall into a couple categories based on three main drink characteristics. You can judge a boba place by: The strength and quality of their tea flavor itself. Can you taste the jasmine? Is the oolong cheap tasting or is it more fragrant, quality stuff? How sweet it is and what kind of sweetness it is. Very sweet and syrupy like Tapioca Express or lighter like Taiwanese places (Sharetea, Fantasia, etc.) How creamy it is and what kind of creaminess it is. Some places will use a non-dairy creamer. Some use milk. Etcetera. These will all have different tastes and affect how light or heavy the drink tastes. As far as I can tell based on their jasmine milk tea and their honey jasmine milk tea, Tealips falls into a scale of decently good tea but not outstanding (7/10), with a relatively less sweet taste, and also a lighter type of sweetness (not syrupy.) Finally, they're pretty creamy. Definitely up there with places like Sharetea, if not creamier. But it's a light creamy, so it's not as thick as half and half or anything. Overall, very drinkable and pretty consistent. Wifi and decent seating space make for a good place to chill for a while. Definitely one of the better places I've visited, at least for boba. read more

If you like waffles, then this is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. The waffles are made fresh and there was a decent menu selection to choose from. The drinks were alright. We shared a tiramisu mocha Brussels waffle and pineapple lychee slush. There was lots of seating available on a weekday evening. It did take some time for that waffles and drinks to be made. Waffle had a nice chew. The ice cream was good quality and the tiramisu wipe had a light espresso flavour. Both items came in just under $16. I would come back for the waffles. We ordered the Mango and pineapple shaved ice and it's very refreshing. The red bean shaved ice is still our favourite but this one tops as well. Another favourite that we love is the fresh fruit milk. Loaded with fresh fruit and purée it's definitely a must have all year long. Bubble tea still taste the same. Slight change in taste with their waffles. Place is busy as always. With the recent renovation they gave the place an update. It looked more classy then before. I'm currently on a hunt for good Malt bubbletea, which led me to Tealips (upon my friend's recommendation). They have a wide selection of milk teas, slushes, juices, teas, and smoothies that you can add on anything from pearls, jellies, protein powder and more (prices range from $0.25-$1) .They only served one size of their drinks which was quite comparable to a 'large' if anything. I ordered the Malt Milk Tea ($4.25) with regular sweetness, little ice, and added pearls (+$0.50). The cashier mentioned that the malt would only be on top of drink so I asked if I could have the malt wheats in the entire drink so the texture and the grittiness of the malt was in every sip. He didn't have the best English so he didn't understand what I was asking for so I just settled for how he was going to make it. After getting my drink, the malt was only placed on the top of the tea which was a slight disappointment for me because I wanted to have the gritty malt wheat throughout my entire drink. BUT the taste of the tea was very flavourful and rich, it was quite sweet though so I would recommend asking for 50% or 75% of the sweetness instead. The tapioca also had great firmness, taste, and chewyness. Other than that the cafe was nicely lit and had tons of seating areas. It was also lovely to have the constant scent of waffles being made as well. I would be very interested in coming back and trying some more of their other flavours for bubble tea! read more

Tealips isn't your ordinary bubbletea place on Kingsway. It's has a very modern style resembling the feel of a comfortable Starbucks. They offer tea, coffee, smoothies, lattes, and loose leaf tea drinks. They have a small selection of homemade waffles and cookies as well. This place is easy to miss as it's hidden behind Highgate mall in a residential area. It's very clean, cozy, quiet, and pretty upscale for a bubbletea place. Good place to hang out and wind down your day as they play soft music in the background. Their coffees are from 100% Arabica beans and include organic, americano, lattes, mochas, cappuccinos, macchiatos, and espressos. They have really good loose leaf teas, iced or hot. They may not have as many flavours as other bubbletea places but their teas are real loose leaf flavour and very high quality for bubbletea. There's a small section beside the cash register where you can grab a quick prepackaged baked cookie and loose tea leafs. They offer two types of Belgium waffles, Brussels and liege. I ordered the brussels type with chocolate and almonds. The presentation was very well done and tasted great with the accompanied walnuts and ice cream on top. The homemade cookies are outstanding especially the Earl Grey. Overall, it's a modern style tea bar with good quality drinks that justify the premium prices. read more

Fresh, funky interior design with styling chairs, this is a go-to spot for studious students, lovers, and friends. The interior is definitely a step up from the normal bubble tea place, and it does remind you of a Starbucks. The prices may be just a little higher, but they have a lot of drinks and food to choose from. Dessert waffles with fruit, ice cream, caramel, chocolate (and anything else dessert-y). It was made with Liege waffles, and it was pretty good. I was just going to order a drink to go since all the tables were occupied, but luckily, a space opened up in order for me to order dessert. All of the different varieties of teas that I have tried were quite good. I like their honey green tea latte or honey green milk tea with bubbles. Their waffles are very good too. They have two kinds of waffles: Brussel waffles (square ones, more regular taste) and Liege waffles (round, more milky taste and softer for me). Waffles come with fruits and/or ice cream. Very tasty and fun. The place is very clean and cozy, and they open late (till 1am?). Very nice and convenient place for a little gathering with friends if you live in the neighborhood. The waffles here are great, very tasty and always freshly made. Its hard to only have one unless you have willpower or full from food. They do have other desserts such as shaved ice, cookies, etc. With many flavors of bubble tea, you can't go wrong with one. Maybe its me but I usually ask for half sweet because it is pretty sweet if you get the regular one. You can also ask for 'less sweet' which is about 75% sweet. I went there last Sunday and it was boiling hot inside. I don't know how the other people were able to sit in there but I had to sit outside at night. There is free wifi so there are people with their laptops there. The place is good and gets busy quickly so it is sometimes hard to find a spot to sit. read more
