I walked in thinking fast food hot pot and it is right on cue. For about $20, the raw ingredients and taste is really good. Note that you are more or less out in 30min. As you expect, what ever you picked is just blanched with very hot umami/msg soup. It is more of less cafeteria service but the team was smart enough to give a free matcha soft serve to signal times up. The staff is friendly. Ambience is good, esp if you like the buzz. Don't go if you want to hang out. It is not McDonalds at all. For about $20, it is not bad as things are pretty expensive in Vancouver these days. However, this cannot compete for a good bowl of ramen, noodles or udon. You get more food though. Overall, no problem returning, by the way, the line is so long that you absolutely need to register before hand on the website/app at least for now Food highlights: Tomato broth - tasty but you need to prepare for the salt and umami afterwards Raw ingredients - picked different hot pot meats and they are all decent quality. Vegetable is fresh and the volume is very high Soft serve - a bit icy so probably light on cream and high in water (may be just skim milk...)

Food was the best hotpot I've had!! I love the self serve and different soup base. The people serving us were very helpful and friendly. The place is small and was kinda warm when we got there mainly because of the amount of people there.

A fun dining experience where you pay by weight. I like the combo with drink and dessert. Ingredients are fresh and well organized.

We got there as soon as it was opened. The servers were very friendly. I asked for an option that didn't have peanut and they recommended one. Then they went to the back to get us sauces that were right from the container to reduce cross contamination. The ingredients were very fresh and tons of choices and options. The place is also very clean. Would come back to this location again.

Love this place. I've never been to the other ones, but this one is super walkable and isn't too chaotic with the wait. Pros: - There's an online link on the website and a QR code by the front door that lets you join the waitlist online. Super handy - ingredients are always being replenished and fresh - service is really attentive - plenty of sauces and condiments to choose from in the back - broth options are super flavorful. They don't skimp - free mini soft serve cone with rotating flavors after diner Notes: - seating is a little tight, especially the tables by where the customers lineup for ingredients - metered parking on 41st Ave and free in the inside residential streets

Very crowded and not particularly clean. No alcohol served. Good thing is that you can use their online line up system to get your spot before you arrive... Select and pay for your own pot for good for splitting bills.

My first time at big way and I was so excited to try as a hot pot lover! Came on a Thursday at 5 and it was surprisingly busy, but did not have to wait for a table. Each bowl is individualized, so you begin by choosing toppings buffet-style for your own bowl. There is a large variety of meat, seafood, veggies, and noodles to choose from. Payment is then determined by weight. I got the Sa Cha broth, which is described as more savory. It was absolutely delicious. It's also important to make a sauce on the side to dunk your toppings into as well! I think for the price, it is a good deal and fun spot to hit with friends. It is easy to keep your meal under $20 (mine came out to around $16) and it's still very filling. While of course it is not the highest quality of meat, this is to be expected as by the price point.

So so yummy! This definitely satisfied my hot pot cravings! A self-service hot pot destination that charges you by weight. We have been to other Big Way locations, but this was our first time at this one. Exclusively street parking; no parking lot. I was disappointed that this location had some slightly different options for add-ons and did not have Udon noodles. We went around midnight and the place was moderately packed - but there was a table big enough for our party of five. We were instructed to grab a bowl and tongs to grab items from the wall (it looked very similar to a grocery store produce display). The items in my bowl brought my price to a total of 29.85 CAD. I chose the Miso Broth with mild spice. Everything came out looking great! There was also a self-serve sauce bar by the registers. Because of how small the space was, it seemed a little crowded, but the staff organizes and assigns a table for you while you are creating your bowl. Great service from attentive staff who brought our cooked bowls out to our table. When we were done eating, they brought everyone a little ice cream cone too! Big Way is always the highlight of my Canada trip and I can't wait to be back!

I love coming to big way locations but this location is prob my fav because the service has been especially good. Sonia was super helpful with seating us at a table and she provides excellent service everytime! The food is excellent and the environment is good. Bust downnnnn

Our first (and came back for seconds) meal in Vancouver and this hits the spot. The fresh ingredients is a feast for the eyes and the malatang and miso soup were perfect. Even our Japanese friend stated "oishi" only caution, put less ingredients than what you want as it's hard to finish the food.

Not only do they have sauce, they have fruit (oranges, tomatoes) chips/ snacks and dessert (red bean sago, ice jelly) This place no doubt has great customer service. There was a $19.99 AYCE lunch special so we thought this is the best way to try it. The service was only ok.... The waitress we had seemed distracted and did not honour any of the special hacks we tried.... Also they seemed disappointed we were only interested in the AYCE basic which didn't include the sauce bar. We were disappointed as well that no sauces came at all with this special.... I am like hold up....sauces is the best part of hot pot. Anyways we asked just for soy sauce and they said there was a charge for that as well... at this point I am ready to get up and leave... seriously???? No sauce bar and charge for soy sauce???? WTF? The food is fresh, delicious and generous portions but everything else was disappointing and lacking here. I knew there was a reason we held back trying this place. Maybe their regular menu is different but I don't recommend their AYCE $19.99 special.... Doesn't come with any sauces and the charge of soy sauce says alot to me about their service mentality.... The restaurant venue is still the same, and at least the dining area seems similarly clean as before. They are clearly cost-cutting. One of the best parts is the ever-changing menu of daily specials alongside the regular menu, so there's always something new to try while still coming back to your favorites. This visit we ordered the shrimp garlic fried rice, Agedashi Nasu, Grilled Squid with Garlic Mayo, and an assortment of sashimi. The shrimp garlic fried rice is an absolute must every time. It's packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and somehow manages to be comforting without feeling too heavy. It is a large dish and can easily be shared by 3-4, depending on what else you order. But in other parts of the world the meal is what's important and so is a quick turn around. Guu with Garlic reminded me a lot of the Izakaya restaurants I found under the train lines of Tokyo in many ways, including the amount of time it felt right to stay. The food came out quick, the servers took orders quicker, and the alcohol came out chilled and as nice contrast to the hot food. Looking around and you see the hand written menu on blackboard surfaces on the walls and this feeling of authenticity. The heat of the flames from the kitchen can be felt and seen if you sit at the bar. And the flavors just hit all the right notes. Starting with appetizers, a section izakayas shine at, the first dish we got was their scallop and mayo pizza. With a crispy crunch on the bottom and crust, this reminds you of the flavors of a baked volcano roll or scallop roll you can find in almost any North American sushi restaurant. Just like that dish, it's important to eat it while it's still hot so it doesn't get gross and 느끼 에. Then came the yellowtail tuna "tempura" pieces. Thick pieces of yellowtail tuna flash fried for just the right crisp on the outside with slight pink of the fish inside. It is meaty without being oily or fatty. Great bite. The beef tongue after was interesting. From the color of the sauce it accompanies it you would think it would be heavy in flavor but it is actually light and citrusy. A good cut into the richer tones of the beef tongue. The yaki udon was one of the best I ever had. It was smokey without being overpowering. The beef was thin and tender and balanced well with the mushrooms it also came with. The udon noodles stayed bouncy and chewy which I didn't expect from being grilled. Very tasty and highly recommend this dish. For our final bite we shared a hot stone bowl of their pork and cabbage rice. With the hot stone bowl constantly cooking even after this dish arrived it was imperative to stir the ingredients together constantly for the first two minutes. It allowed for the runny egg to meld with the rice and the crispy texture of some ingredients was a nice bonus. All in all, I loved eating here and if my appetite was bigger I would've tried more on their menu. A solid place to eat with a great atmosphere, if you're looking for delicious food that won't take too much of your time but still lingers in your memories you have to check out Guu with Garlic.
