I've been to Big Way so many times but I realized I've never written a review for it! I feel like I've enjoyed my experience every time I went and this time was no exception. I do have to say that getting the timing right for when to join the waitlist is hard, but the lady at the front gave my group a bit more time to get there, which was really nice of her. This was my first time going to the New Westminster location and I was surprised to see how packed it was despite the larger space. Their business is really popular and I can see why. They have so many ingredient and soup base options, so there's something for everyone. I've recently been enjoying the tomato mala dry mix (mild) so that's what I got this time. I definitely recommend choosing mild when getting a dry mix, because I think the dry mix tends to be spicier than most people think (this is coming from someone who enjoys spicy food). Something I wanted to note about my experience was the customer service. We were a group of 8 and we wanted to put all of our hot pots on one bill. This was a bit chaotic, since some people in my group did not speak English, but the staff did their best to help. Later, when two of the hot pots came out too spicy (there may have been some miscommunication), I asked the staff if we would be able to get some of the basic broth to water it down, they asked if we'd like to have the tomato broth instead, which we gladly accepted. Overall, I really enjoy coming to Big Way because they have all the ingredients that I like in a hot pot. I have pretty much tried all of their soup bases, so I hope to see more seasonal flavours come out!

SO DELICIOUS! Great vegan and veggie options! Pretty fast service. Priced by weight so be weary of that. Been twice : first time I went light on protein and it was only 15$, second time went heavy on tofu, egg, fresh noodles, and it was 24$. Went with different friends both times. They both made drastically different choices. But we all loved it!! Staff is very friendly and patient. Super fast clearing tables and bringing FREE ice cream. As soon as you walk-in you can see how many people are in line on digital display. Give them your info if its a ling wait; They will call of text you when its your turn to fill your own pot. Very efficient service. Will definitely be back; IM A HOT POT CONVERT :D

Big Way delivers excellence in ingredients, style, merch, and vegan options (including almond milk bubble tea)!! I recommend hot pot to every friend of mine -- it is always a positive group experience.

Soft opening during the last week of October and the long line up and wait time depicts how much people enjoy the Big Way hot pot concept - choose, weigh and pay. Since the kitchen cooks your hotpot selections and then bring the hot pot to your table, this is a hassle free hotpot experience! They offer a complimentary ice cream cone dessert at the end of your meal and we enjoyed their matcha ice cream. Also, in addition to hot pot, they serve a huge menu of boba tea or fruit drinks etc to complement your hot pot experience. Broth menu is quite extensive and even included couple vegan soup base option. I liked the tomato and collagen bone broth. Their sauce bar is abundant and I like it - it's satisfying to personalize sauce to your preference. If you like to try their recommended sauce pairing recipes, they have the recipes conveniently displayed at the sauce bar. For me, the main drawback to their hotpot concept is the hot pot is already cooked so it's not boiling hot and when food items are all cooked at once, one should choose wisely and avoid items that need more controlled cook times. I find the hotpot experience here definitely serves a niche where you can customize broth and hotpot items exactly to your own tastes and liking. For example, you can decide to add just 1 crab leg to the hotpot for that extra boost in taste and I enjoyed pairing it with as many lamb and fatty beef slices as I please. The cost of your meal here is by weight so the price of your meal could add up and I personally prefer AYCE for customizable cooking time and for its nicer seafood/meat options. I also think AYCE could be better value for carb and meat lovers and Big Way is better value for light eaters. Big Way meal costs totally depends on what you select but this place definitely saves you time to shop, chop and cook, especially if you prefer variety in your hotpot. I ranked this place 4 stars mainly because of its convenient location and super roomy interior. Ambiance is very spacious and service was quite friendly. This location is located at New Westminster skytrain so it boasts of easy sky train commute plus parking lot. I appreciate driving here with its indoor paid parking option on those heavy rainy days.

First time at this location with four other friends and our visit was very good. We went at 4:30 in the afternoon and the waiting time was less than 5 minutes probably because of their massive dining space with many tables. Staff was friendly and very quick in attending our needs. I was stunned that the serving time was less than 10 minutes. I've also noticed that I paid less but picked more stuffs versus my first visit at the other location. This place is conveniently located by the SkyTrain station and highly recommended for those hot pot lovers.

It turns out it used to be Hons before they changed names but likely retained the same staff. A couple parking spots behind the building, otherwise pay parking on the street. Between the 3 of us we ordered 7 dishes - deep fried bbq bun, shrimp dumpling, pork shu mai, deep fried squid, pan fried soy sauce rice rolls, mini chinese sausage buns, and deep fried salted dumplings with pork filling. I was hoping to order my favourite wu gok (deep fried taro puff) but they don't offer it here. The deep fried bbq bun was definitely unique as I have never seen it anywhere else. The mini chinese sausage buns were dry on the outside and I felt it was missing some kind of sauce to make it more cohesive. Han Lin was quite busy from opening (we arrived at 11am) until we left around 12:30pm - filled with mostly caucasian customers who were greeted like regulars. This spot was clearly popular with the locals! I wonder if some of their dishes were created with their taste buds in mind - ie. the deep fried bbq bun. I was a bit thirsty for the rest of the afternoon, not sure if it's indicative of MSG. Overall, I think this spot is just ok but if I'm craving dimsum I'll look elsewhere for more authentic options. They are missing the usual Cantonese dimsums like rice rolls, wu gok, tofu skin rolls etc. However, I'd definitely say that prices are very reasonable and it came to about $25 per person for us.

We were the only customers in the restaurant so it was pretty quiet and empty. My friend got the Seafood Fried Rice. He thought it was OK. I got the beef chow ho fun which which is flat stir fried rice noodles with beef. It was also just OK. Both dishes were served with chili oil. I felt they could have added more seasoning to really make the flavors pop out. It's just not as tasty as I hoped it would be. It's a tad better than your random chinese food stalls at the food court. The food overall was not bad, i wasn't super disappointed with anything. It was cooked well at least. Our server was talkative and we felt taken care of. Shout out to Jeralyn for being a great server. 3 out of 5 stars based on this visit for the alright food.
