Love coming here for a DIY hot pot experience. I can get everything that I want and nothing that I don't. The only change I would make is to have a scale near where we fill up our bowls so I can get a sense of how much mine weighs so far. The spicy seasoning is actually spicy, which I appreciate. And you can't go wrong with the free ice cream!

I heard they have over 6000 locations across the world! Going in it felt really comfortable with the bowl and tongs in a clean separate fridge. There was a wide range of fresh ingredients to choose from. For soup bases they had a variety of spicy and non spicy. I went with the classic spicy, originally I thought of ordering the medium spicy level but was advised it was really spicy so I went with mild instead. The service was exceptionally good. After ordering you get seated and they bring your water and food to the table. I was quite disappointed to find my soup was not spicy at all for mild. The soup is more of a creamy broth which was not what I was expecting. Flavour wise it wasn't bad, just wished it had a bit more spice.

We decided to stop by here for dinner. We did not make any reservations, but were able to be seated right away. There is a large section of meat, seafood, noodles and vegetables to pick. Staff weighed the pot and charged accordingly after you pick your broth flavour. There is an art to picking and choosing what to order to not be charged $40-50 a hot pot. There are YouTube tutorials if you have never been to such a restaurant. Sauce bar section is adequate and free if you want some sauces to go with your meal. I found it nice to not have to cook my own food. There is a time and place for this compared to cooking your own food at other hot pot options. I enjoyed my hot pot which came to $24 and I found the beef broth quite flavourful. Lastly, there is ice cream after you finished your meal. Service was fast and efficient. Staff stopped by regularly to refill water and clean up. Restaurant was busy, but I felt staff were great at keeping up with the pace. My only complaint is the parking. The plaza is very busy and parking can be very challenging during peak meal times.

Sichuan pepper broth + my selection of food

Hot enough to be Bigger? Passing by and noticed this place opened up not long ago in replacement of a previous Chinese restaurant. Curiosity sparked and decided to give it a try. It is located at the corner of Lougheed Hwy and North Road, same plaza as Insadong and Pho 99. The interior layout and setup is very similar to Big Way Hotpot, but I would say a lot less busy and less options. I went through and chose my meat, carbs and veggies. As for the soups, here were the soup bases I ordered; 1. Beef bone soup (non spicy). It was somewhat bland with a light sweet taste. I personally find the pork bone soup base to be always more flavourful. 2. Sichuan pepper broth. Besides the light spicy taste, the broth tasted a bit weak. Overall, the place was pretty clean with a casual vibe. The service was decently good and the server was quite attentive. As for the food compared to Big Way; less food and drink options here, the broths were weaker and more bland, and I don't know if it's me or what but appears to be slightly more expensive? Never got the free ice cream at the end like the cashier said I would get lol. P.S. I believe if the boss stop being so busy acting like a boss and let his employees attend to the customers, it might help score a few more repeat customers.

Gave this place a try knowing that it was up against a strong and favorable local competitor. Pros: More options to add to your bowl, clean, ample seating and friendly service. Cons: Limited broth options, Limited sauce options, Limited flavors and didn't see any options to get a side of white rice (should be illegal, imo) and pricey. My bowl costed $40. If you're not picky and looking for something quick without stressing for seating or caring about the cost, give this place a try.

Sauce bar was fully stocked and many sauce choices

The food choices ate amazing and fresh & well stocked. The staff are friendly and efficient. The ambiance is bright, clean, airy, and we were able to get a table quickly. Our cooked hotpot's came out very quickly as well

Fresh food with a lot beverage choices. Friendly staffs. Perfect place for party and family get together.

I like the malatang spicy broth, the service is good and serve is friendly. I will come back to try their tomato broth next time. The ice cream at the end is good.

The staff are very friendly and the location is very accessible especially the car park. The food is so delicious and the service is superb! Excellent!!!

Arouhd 2pm ( it was alsona statutory holiday today), the lot was full, there was people waiting for spots. This place recent changed from a grill to this pay by weight hot pot. They also have set combos of beef, seafood or vegetarian items +veg +noodles for around $18 dollars on special ( normal price $24). This is different from places like Big Way that is just pay by weight. But same process in that you grab a bowl and pick your own toppings. The worker said aim for getting at least a pound but she said there is flexibility. She let my friend pay with only 800g so that was nice. The broth selection was organized on large signs for several levels of spice and several non-spicy options. I was impressed with the amount of unique food selections like frog legs! And a few other things I haven't seen before. The bowls seem slightly deeper so you will tend to fill it a bit more. They have a rewards system similar to Big Way where you put your phone number. At the sauce bar I qas impressed and excited to see orange slices! It was helpful to have this free addition to cool down my mouth down when the spice was too much :p. There was of course also free ice cream after the meal. There was a good amount of seats , good for large groups ( 3 to 4 +). Would say it was a good experience for a quick meal.

Pulled beef sandwich with pork bones, er "dragon bones", and vegetable soup. This is a northern cuisine from China that is not common in GVRD. Some of our go-to favourites: green curry, pad see ew, gai lan with pork belly, and the Thai fried rice with grilled pork. The flavours are super consistent every single visit, which honestly is half the battle with takeout spots. Their rotating specials are also worth watching for m, and are always fun when there's something new in the mix. (my pictures don't do justice) It's definitely a bit pricier than your average quick Thai spot... however, the ingredients taste fresh and the portions are satisfying. Love the little thoughtful touches too: self-serve water station, compostable containers and cutlery, and an easy casual setup that works perfectly for a Quay lunch or dinner. I'm giving it a 4-star because the place closes at 6pm Mon-Thu and at 7pm on all other days. I always feel like I need to rush or have early dinner if I wanted to grab food from here.
