Came here for the $22 per person lunch buffet deal with free soup and was not disappointed. I loved seeing the little robots that bring the food to the table. I usually go to the Burnaby Happy Lamb location for the dinner buffet at double the price, but honestly this one might have converted me to do lunches instead. The food selection is very good and you can get your own selection of veggies off of the trays on the side. The pork, chicken, and garlic beef are also available on the side. You have to order the beef and lamb separately with the wait staff. This is much better than trying to have the kitchen staff guess how much of each item you want and getting it wrong. The sauces are also available. There are alot of choices, including sesame paste, fermented tofu, sesame oil, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, salt, sugar, green onions, and coriander. The interior of the restaurant is not as nice as the Burnaby location and overall feels less luxurious. The bathrooms were kind of sketchy. The female one had three stalls, one with a broken lock, one that was totally out of order, and a third one that was somewhat functional but had no handle to open the door from the outside. Meeting up with a friend in Coquitlam and they suggested Happy Lamb Hot Pot. It is a great location just across from the Coquitlam Center, a skytrain station and plenty of free roof level parking. I was recently at the Burnaby location and what I liked about this location, was the self service vegetable station, which also included garlic beef, pork and chicken. We ordered the lunch special (with unlimited beef and lamb slices) for $21.99 plus the price for the mushroom broth. It also included free self serve soft drinks and a popsicle for dessert. Great to have a self service snack area with chicken wings...they were so good and of course one can not get by without the sauce making station. Much of the restaurant is self service so the serving staff just have to take the order, bring out the lamb and beef slices and refill the broth as requested. There was no issue with the service. I visited here about a month ago for a hot pot. I'm totally obsessed with hotpot particularly in cold days in Vancouver. Happy Lamb in Coquitlam had a smaller selection in meat and toppings, bur food was good. I had AYCE lunch combo for $20.99. Server brought meat while everything else is self-serve (eg. watercress,mushrooms, tofu, garlic beef, etc). They also had chicken wings, spring rolls, sesame balls and noodles on the side. One special thing about this location is the robot that brings you meats. The price is cheaper than most places these days. It's usually $25.98 including the broth and is included with pop. Reasonably priced all you can eat food. I like the self-serve area, particularly for vegetables -- I can choose what I want, and get as much as I need. You only need to ask for a few different types of meat, but generally most of what you need is self serve. Broth flavor and sauce selections were just ok. Food safety regulation was clearly not being followed with raw meats being stored above raw vegetables in the self serve refrigerated showcase. Showcase had a varied and good selection of veggies, meats, carbs and seafood. Quality of sliced meats was impressive for the price point. Garlic beef was the only item that bad - slimy in texture but in an off putting way .. possibly from over tenderization?? Came here for dinner with my parents and it was a self serve AYCE hotpot place which I thought was kinda fun. Hotpot is already interactive so to pick your own hotpot items yourself was a nice change. They kept replenishing items that would go low and every item was super fresh. Got the regular AYCE menu and at $30.99 it was a good deal compared to other AYCE hotpot places. But the best part surprisingly was the service. Only two servers working tonight and the tables were constantly clean, drinks were refilled and most importantly, they were always smiling. Lily and Mila were so genuinely friendly that it made for a pleasant dining experience especially from an Asian restaurant where good service is rare. We came here with a coupon from Van People which got us an all you can eat meal for 2 for the price of ~$56 total. It also included unlimited soft drinks and the broth. The first round of food we ordered came quite quickly. The thinly sliced fatty beef was really good. Really liked the stuffed fishball too! But when round two came, the orders were all out of whack and it took a long time for things to come at all. Things we didn't order came, and things came in strange quantities. Came for lunch and order the Meat solo pot special with fatty beef and fatty lamb, lettuce, cabbage, noodles sweet potato slices and lamb dumplings. The meat was acceptable but I wouldn't exactly cite it as quality cuts. The meat was excessively thin, more so than other hot pots I have had in Vancouver area. The noodles definitely are not made in the shop and the dumplings were a disgusting machine made product that was "perfectly formed" and frozen. So disappointing that when you come to such a traditional Chinese restaurant that this type of food quality is presented. Also ordered was the side dish of mushrooms and you can select two. This was quite fresh and the quantity was great. Again, with the poor quality soup base, this quality was not able to be appreciated. Online menu shows lotus root available, server says never had it. Also as mentioned in other reviews, the sauce bar was rather on the weak side with many of the "standard" items missing. When I ordered I was not given the choice of a base, and was brought the bone base. I requested that I wanted a spicy mala soup base expecting that undeniable numbing sensation so integral to a spicy hot pot. So the server takes the first base away and then quickly returns with what appears to be the same pan she took away and simply some red small liquid and a few cut up chilis. There was no spicy flavor what so ever. This was very disappointing. I saw a low rating or bad reviews about this hot pot place on Yelp and a Groupon deal at $78 for four people. I decided to buy the Groupon deal especially I got 20% off of the promo price. It was a really good deal. Although the rating was low or the reviews were bad, a LOTS of people came here for dinner and some were even waiting at the door. The service was okay. Servers were busy serving so many customers at the same time. I could imagine they were stressed out as well. I wouldn't expect them to smile or please all customers all the time. The restaurant was clean and organized. It was very spacious with lots of chairs and tables. The them colour of the restaurant is lime green. The restaurant looks modern with the "sheep" decorations. We used the Groupon deal for four people. We didn't wait for a long time. All the food came out quickly. That was great! We had an original soup base (with some Chinese herbals). The soup base tasted good! The meat balls were freshly made in house. There were a lot of meat such as chicken, lamb and beef. I purchased a Groupon for 2ppl and used it tonight (Tue Dec 3/18). My husband and I had a great time! There is free underground parking at Henderson Place Mall, and we walked through the mall to get to the restaurant. There's nothing like having hot pot on a cold rainy day! We haven't had hot pot in a while and I was really excited to come here. It was busy but we didnt have to wait for a table. The decor was modern and the restaurant was clean over all. We had a Groupon for two and what was served to us was some kind of combo. It wasn't all-you-can-eat but rather preselected ingredients you can add to your soup. We were told by our server what you see in the Groupon photo was what was served. We were able to choose our own broth though and we got spicy and non-spicy. I preferred the spicy broth, it had lots of flavor and spice. Even though we didnt pick our own ingredients, the food we received ended up being a LOT and after cooking it in the spicy broth it was amazing! The customer service here is good! It was very busy while we were here and the servers were hustling but always took the time to ask us about our food, clear off our table, refill our drinks and answer any questions we had. Keep in mind, this is only our first round. If this was our 3rd and 4th then it would be understandable for being 'concerned' about us being wasteful and full. However, this is a common practice for most all you can eat places. But this shouldn't make an exception in this case since it's our first round of ordering food. Payment: - Frankly, I was surprised and shocked on that there's a limit of how many cards we can use. I've never encountered this before with other restaurants. I observed someone radio the waiter to stop accepting anymore credits after x amount of cards. We have 6 people paying with credit card. Waitress told us he could only accepts 5 credit cards and 1 person has to pay cash. What is this??? Be aware of payment when you have a larger group wanting to pay all with credit cards. I have gone to the Mongolian Hot Pot in Burnaby, but not the one in Coquitlam. I came with a large group, and we were put at a nice table with four people per hotpot table. We had the non-spicy soup, but the other tables had other types of soup, and some were separated to accommodate for allergies. We probably stayed there for more than an hour. Hotpots are great for socializing, but that means the line may be longer. The restaurant was quite full, but not jam packed. Since we got the all-you-can-eat course, you can pick as many things as you like for two rounds, but you are likely charged for leaving leftovers. Depending on how many pots you have, it's about $25 to $30 per person (including tips). The service was quite attentive and pleasant as they would often refill our hotpot when our soup stock was running low. The ingredients were good too, and it was a good experience for me and my friends (some of which were not used to using chopsticks, but they managed). Meh. I'm a frequent visitor to the Burnaby Little Sheep location. I am there at least every 1-2 weeks, sometimes 1-2 times a week. I went to that location yesterday only to find out they were closed for renos. Oh no! Having already tried the Richmond location, we thought we'd try the Coquitlam location this time. First, parking sucks. There was little street parking and it was all full when we got there at 9pm. There is parking at Henderson Place Mall but we were limited to an hour. I was a bit nervous about parking as I saw the security guy there checking cars and I knew I'd be longer than an hour. Had to get up in the middle of our meal to look for more parking. If you're transiting, it is right across the street from a skytrain station, so that's good I guess. As soon as we walked in, someone asked us "2?" and then basically walked past us as if expecting us to know to follow him. Since it was 9pm, there were only perhaps 3 other tables occupied. For the majority of our meal, there were more employees than patrons, which is all the more reason why it's so baffling to figure out why service was terrible. We had to flag someone down to give our order sheet (again, only 3 other tables there already eating. They should have known to check for our sheet like the Burnaby location always does). We had to flag (far too long) for water. Dishes sat on our table the entire meal. Service was terrible. The food was consistent with the other locations, as well as the sauce stand. No complaints there. The ONLY good thing I liked about this place was that the tables were bigger than the other 2 locations I've been to. I guess more space to keep your dirty dishes. We had two choices for soup bases ($9.99): House Special Original or Spicy (or a half x half of the two), we got the original. It was a milky broth that comes with many herbs and loads of garlic.Sadly they got in the way of food and never got a chance to be fully cooked to get their flavors into the soup =( The broth is kind of like the soul of hot pot to me, and it was intensely salty. Had to dilute it with water. Their order sheet allows for two rounds, clearly laid out with categories for food. The meats are maximum 2 orders per round (not sure if it's per person) with each plate being 10pcs. Also, there is a section for extra add-on items, such as meat skewers, oysters, extra condiment items, and drinks/desserts. [Note the numbers I had on the order sheet because the items DO NOT come in the amount listed, it's quite sporadic] There is a sauce station with: Satay (super watery and just oil), chili oil (not very spicy), peanut sauce, and soy sauce. To its left are the appetizer dishes you can find on the order menu but self-serve. Looked kinda sketchy, so we decided to skip those. I've been to many hot pot AYCE establishments with a much larger selection of sauces and condiments which are included in the price at better quality-- even the Burnaby location of Little Sheep does a better job. First to arrive was luncheon meat (2 pcs ordered, 6 came) and garlic beef (5 slices ordered). Luncheon meat was average and salty. I couldn't eat more than two pcs so I left the rest on the plate. When they cleared the table I saw them bring that dish back to the kitchen while the rest of the other dishes were placed into a dirty dishes trolley... suspicious. The garlic beef was fresh and tender, however there was a giant piece plus two small ones... almost as if they missed cutting it. Veggies came next, we got watercress (1 order), enoki mushroom (1 order), and tong ho (1 order). These looked fresh and clean. Then it was an assorted dish of items we ordered: crab meat stick (4 pcs ordered, 6 came), cuttlefish (4 pcs ordered, 8 came), fresh aorta (6 pcs ordered, 10+ arrived), beef tendon (4 ordered, 4 came), beef omasum (4 pcs ordered, a huge clump came), beef tripe (4 pcs ordered, frozen clump came), quail eggs (4 ordered, 4 came), cod fillet (4 pcs ordered, 7 came), dried pork rind (4 pcs ordered, 8 came), mutton dumpling (4 pcs ordered, 4 came). They ended up missing our order for mussels, but we were too full and didn't feel like asking for them. The mutton dumplings were highlights for sure, they were tasty and flavorful but very filling. Everything else was fresh. The cod fillets were super salty, and after cooking in the salty broth-- inedible, so we had to leave them. Another plate arrived with tofu puff (4 pcs ordered, 6 came), fresh bean curd stick (4 pcs ordered, 4 came), winter melon slices (2 pcs ordered, 4 came), fish tofu (2 pcs ordered, 2 came), kelp knot (1 order), gluten (4 pcs ordered, 6 came), potato slices (2 pcs ordered, 4 came), pork blood curd (4 pcs ordered, 5 came), and pork liver (4 pcs ordered, 6 came). I liked the tofu puffs and gluten, these could be cooked nice and soft with some bite to them, indicating good quality. HungryPanda was pretty choked about having to eat 4 instead of 2 potato slices at the end since she was so full already. Elephant had to take many for the team and was definitely overfilled. The pork liver was nice and fresh, marinated well and had good bite to them. Oh did I mention we got our soup at this time after all that food had arrived to taunt us? I didn't even realize the meatballs dish was inaccurate, but they're hand-made and decent. Good bite and flavors. We ordered 6 of each but only got 4 of each. There was cuttlefish ball, mutton ball, and beef ball. Yay! Our first order of supposedly 30 pcs of lamb shoulder slices finally arrives! Their meats are super thinly sliced, about 1mm thick. So they cook very quick and barely feel like eating anything almost! Not fatty and fresh, this was good quality meat. Next were "5 slices" of loin of beef, clearly way more pcs-- like 20. They were fattier but melted in my mouth and so full of beef flavor. A nice shade of red too. Then were our fatty beef slices (30 pcs ordered, 20 came), these were fresh and yummy too! No complaints here besides it disappearing too fast! To be safe we only ordered 5 pcs of their kurobuta pork belly and... at least 30 slices arrived. These were nicely marbled and not too fatty. You could see the beautiful layers of meat and fat, super fresh and tasty! The portion amounts were totally random and inaccurate, so it was hard to gauge how much to order. I mean, if it's off by 1 or 2 it's within reason, but double or more of the order? That's a bit much. HungryPanda and Elephant both ordered plum juice ($2 with free refills) and they said it was good, not a diluted version. I think this place is overhyped. It opened a week ago but already had a long lineup. Expect to wait for 15-20 minutes on a typical Thursday evening. Waiter is attentive but service is quite slow. We didn't choose the all you can eat option, thinking that it's not a great deal for vegetarians (roughly $30 per person). Still, we ended up spending around $60 for some mushroom and lettuce. Ughhhh. Won't come back. I can eat hotpot at home, and it's literally the same thing. The sauce and other ingredients can be found in any given Asian supermarket. Won't come back. I would recommend the all you can eat meal especially if you have a huge appetite and order tons of meat and seafood. read more

I finally made it to a Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot when they came to Coquitlam. It's AYCE hot pot and it's 1 of only 2 in the area so I gave it an extra star. It is $22.95 per adult and kids are roughly half the price. You need to purchase a soup base at $9.99 on top of that. There aren't many choices of soup base. While their soup base was milky and had flavour, I didn't like that their soup base had Chinese herbal medicine in it. There was no other choice of broth without that. The spicy hotpot is pretty much the original base with chunks of chillies, chilli oil and Szechuan peppers in it. You get less than the regular AYCE hot pot fare (pay extra for oysters and shrimp). I did like that they had oyster mushrooms and Chrysantheum. They also limit you to 2 rounds and further limit you the amount of shaved beef and lamb you ca get per round. After 2 rounds they take your order sheet away. Plum juice and pop are $2 but unlimited refills. I was downing plum juice after plum juice because the hot pot was so hot. I don't think I will be returning anytime soon. I can see my $30 better spent elsewhere in the area. read more

I like the quality of the hot pot and the soup, but the service is subpar. Waitress kept forgetting or mixed up orders. At a few occasions the waitress brought extra orders we didn't order and came back half hour later and ask us if we still want it and then we watched her recycled it and serve it to another table. To be fair we didn't touch the order but the principle of it just wrong. It is exactly that I will not recommend this place due to food safety reasons. read more

The restaurant inside looked fancy yet the services there were awful. Yesterday me and my friends visited this place. One thing was only impressed was a server guided us the seating, yet afterward, no one ever came to serve us some tea until we asked to. I would give this place 3.5 stars. The soup bases are okay, the house soup base is bland and the spicy soup base isn't very spicy at all. Their all-you-can-eat menu has a good variety as well as a decent sauce bar and the service is good (for what it is- do not expect typical service you'd receive at a Western restaurant). While it's not the best hot pot restaurant I've been to it is overall decent and worth trying. read more

The food tastes ok, well all the little sheep hot pot taste the same but the service of this one is really not so good. We ordered all you can eat and they only brought us 60% of what we ordered, (also the pork blood they gave us looked like it's someone's leftover), and we had to chase them for literally 4-5 times to get all the food, even that they still missed some items. read more
