Fried Bean Curd Wraps w/ Prawn & Pea Tip Leaves
Gordon Y.

Cuisine: 8 Service: 7 Decor: 7 Value: 8 Overall: 8 Over the last decade, I have been to Vancouver over a dozen times. Each trip, I make it a point to try at least one or two new Cantonese dim sum location. This was my choice for the most recent trip. Comparatively speaking, dim sum in Vancouver is absolutely delicious and better quality than what I find in NYC. However, prices are also much higher, especially for the most popular common items. That was the case here as well, but I find their portions to be bigger than most other spots in Vancouver. For example, where else do you know that gives the patrons five big hargow in one steam basket? Therefore, I believe that this is a rare dim sum place where you do get good value. As for the taste, since all dishes were ordered on paper, everything came out hot and fresh, which is always a good start. Standouts for me included their Fried Bean Curd Wraps w/ Prawn & Pea Tip Leaves, Steamed Creamy Egg Yolk Custard Buns, Baby Octopus w/ Satay Sauce, and Crispy Durian Balls. Both rice dishes we had were quite tasty too. I will continue my quest tasting new dim sum restaurants on my future visits to Vancouver. However, this restaurant will now be part of my regular rotation for dim sum when in town.

We came for dinner. My first time here. Free underground parking. Plenty of street parking. I give the food a solid 4 stars. Delicious and tasty. Fresh ingredients. The Ambiance I would give a 3 star. Comfortable seating, bright and spacious. However it got quite loud at times and it was difficult to hold a conversation within my group. Service. I am conflicted here. There was plenty of wait staff available. However we were never checked on. If we needed something ie hot water refill, more napkins etc it took awhile to flag someone down. When we finally got someone's attention their service was amazing. Friendly and efficient. I will definitely go back. I want to try their dimsum next

First time trying out Paramount Chinese Seafood Restaurant. Fairly busy on a Monday evening but plenty of open tables. It's around the corner from Dami Sushi & Korean Restaurant. Most tables were ordering Peking duck and/or king crab. We ordered crab sticky rice ($148.00), Peking duck combo ($158.00) and pea tips ($5.00 extra). - Soup - Beijing duck 2 courses - crispy skin with crepes and duck meat lettuce wrap. Standard - Honey garlic spareribs - Crab sticky rice - bunch of tasty, but you have to work for it, crab legs. Sticky rice was solid - Spicy eggplant with pork in chili garlic hot pot - came out sizzling. Oily but flavourful - Sauteed pea tip leaves with garlic - standard - Deep fried egg tofu with assorted mushrooms - tofu was silky smooth. Mushrooms had a great bite - Deep fried crispy skin chicken - stupendously salty - Red bean soup

It is all about the chef and this place has one of the best Cantonese style crew in B.C. Sure, it is cramped seating, not banquet large and ventilation can get stuffy. Sure, you are asking for requests every time the server passes by but he doesn't hear you above the shouting conversations and every table is asking for something...because they are slammed. Sure, it is a bit on the pricier end. What you get is delish food that will stuff you to the rim and when you get home you wished you had one more bite. *King Crab highly recommend. Street neighborhood parking is horrible. Come anyway.

dim sum menu at paramount chinese seafood restaurant

after awkwardly finishing our banh mis in front of a condo building in the cold, we decided to cross the street to check out the dim sum situation at paramount chinese seafood...and just like that, despite the crowd, we managed to get a table for four without a reservation, on a weekend! we've been here before when it was called lucky plus, and the vibe felt familiar. the tables are crammed for maximum seating and the restaurant was loud and full. we skimmed the menu, circled a few dishes, and attempted to flag down a waiter to take our order. we had the following: steamed crystal shrimp dumplings (har kau), five in a basket bean curd wraps with meat in oyster sauce hand-crafted rice rolls with minced beef, (very delicate) deep-fried squid with chili salt steamed fish maw with shrimp paste deep-fried sesame balls with black sesame paste the dim sum here is solid, and came out piping hot. again, we attempted to flag a wait staff to get the bill and someone from our table got up and paid directly at the cashier. we also managed to play charades across the crowded room to secure two takeout containers from another server. a hectic but enjoyable dim sum experience!

We came here for a birthday dinner. The service was great and the food was pretty good. We told them we had an allergy and they were really good accommodating our dietary restrictions. We brought our own wine and cake and they did not charge us for corking fee or cake cutting fee. Will come back here for dinner again. Prices are reasonable as well.

We came back the next day for dim sum. I was told if you didn't make reservations or knew someone that getting in on the weekends were impossible, that was evident and this was a weekend, there was no tables available and standing room only for patrons waiting for a table. This restaurant does not use a moving cart system for dim sum, you need to order off a menu. The portion size was fairly typical for dim sum. The dim sum certainly lived up to why they were so busy. The one knock I had was for the chicken feet, they didn't seem to rock my boat, they were good but not the best I've had. This certainly is a outstanding restaurant for dim sum.

Dessert!! Orange flavoured jello. So great!!

Service was fast. Food was scrumptious. Dishes are unique and everything we had was fabulous!!

Food was good. We went on a Thursday,so it wasn't super busy. Food came out fast. 4-5 staff on floor but took forever to get their attention for anything. Decor seems a bit rundown, even though it's quite new. At the end,had to go find them to pay the bill.

Formerly known as Lucky Plus, the restaurant is now under new management and operates as Paramount Chinese Seafood Restaurant. Located at the southwest corner of Rupert and 22nd Avenue in East Vancouver, it has limited underground parking and challenging street parking nearby. The dining room feels overcrowded, with tables crammed together--just about a foot between them--making the space feel tight and uncomfortable. The atmosphere is typical of many Chinese restaurants: lively and noisy. However, some details could be improved, such as providing more than one paper napkin per customer, especially given the average dim sum meal costs around $25-30 per person. The food presentation leans toward a fusion style. For example, the pork dumplings come in portions of five instead of the usual four, and the rice rolls with minced fish paste are garnished with shredded seaweed rather than green onion. All dishes were served hot and tasted great, although the prices are on the higher side. One downside is that service seems to favour those who speak Cantonese or Mandarin. Despite this, I plan to return to try more dishes and possibly their dinner combo menu--preferrably on a weeknight when it might be less crowded.

Try Paramount for fresh and hot dim sum! The service was pretty good and quick Free parking underground or street parking (the signage still says Lucky Plus) Its noisy here and tables are a bit tighter but overall a good dim sum experience We got reservations for 11:30am on a Sunday and it wasn't busy until noon Food was hot and portions were pretty good, the fried foods were very fresh We loved the: - pork shiu mai with fish roe (5 Pieces) -fried bean curd skin with shrimp and greens, - Steamed bun with custard (3 buns) - pan fried egg tofu topped with fried shrimp paste - steamed claypot rice with chicken, Chinese sausage, broccoli - Chinese donut wrapped rice roll -eggplant with shrimp paste, Will be back again with more family!

Dined here with my colleagues to celebrate one of my colleague's retirement party. We were a party of 15 so they sat us at two tables. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share and the portions were perfect for sharing. The prices were reasonable and we ended up with leftovers. My favourite dishes were (sadly I don't know the name of the dishes because my manager ordered all the dishes on our behalf) : fried rice, crispy battered shrimp, crispy duck wrap, fried fish which came in a special sauce. The jello dessert was delicious and unique too (because of its consistency it felt more like a jello cake). Overall I enjoyed the food and liked trying new dishes. The service was meh. We kept on having to ask them for more tissue and water. They also didn't bring out any utensils (we had to use the utensils that were with each large dish). A few people were still eating when one of the staff started telling us to wrap it up because they wanted to bring out the dessert. Then they brought out containers and put it on the table and 2-3 minutes later she came back and started speaking loudly and told us to hurry up and pack the dishes...at this point the restaurant was still open and 1/3 of the restaurant was empty so it was not because they were closed/closing. Service 3/5 Food 4.5/5 Ambiance 4/5

We were recommended to try out this restaurant. Efficient and friendly service though can't expect much attention from few busy servers. We tried the dim sum which came with generous servings..eg five ping pong size shao mai. Convenient street and free underground parking. I heard that their dinner menu is worth trying too.

A Gastronomic Awakening in Chinatown! You don't truly know…read moreuntil you go--and now that I've been, I'm haunted. As I write this, I am literally still dreaming of the Hong Kong Style BBQ Pork. It didn't just "eat" well; it dissolved into a decadent, sweet, fatty puddle of pure bliss. Walking in, the vibe is quintessential Chinatown: a bustling counter, a glass case showcasing glistening roasted treasures, and a seating area that trades fancy decor for pure, functional authenticity. We were clearly out of our element, probably looking like deer in headlights, but the staff met our confusion with warm smiles. Then came Bobby--the absolute heart and soul of this place. We walked in expecting the standard American-Chinese routine, but Bobby whisked us away to a cozy table and treated us like family. He started us off with a fragrant jasmine tea so naturally sweet and floral it didn't need a grain of sugar--perfect for a biting winter night. While we flirted with the Happy Hour menu, Bobby took the reins. You don't say no to a man with that much charisma and passion! On his expert recommendation, we pivoted to the Two-Meat Combo (BBQ Pork + Soy Chicken) with a side of their famous Roast Duck. The food arrived in a lightning-fast 10 minutes, but the real treat was Bobby's play-by-play on how each dish was prepared. You can taste the pride in every bite. The balance was masterclass: a symphony of sweet, salty, and umami. The meats were succulent, the skins were shattery-crisp, and the glazes were perfectly sticky. The undisputed heavyweight champion, however, was that Hong Kong BBQ Pork. Imagine the best "burnt ends" of your life, drenched in a caramelized, mouth-watering sauce that demands your full attention. We left Chinatown BBQ feeling more than just sated--we felt enlightened. If you're looking for a "one in a million" meal, let Bobby order for you. You won't regret it.

The char siu and soy sauce chicken were both cooked perfectly, moist and flavorful. The green scallion sauce was not necessary but it was still delicious ! Would've been great over rice. The extra fatty char siu the server gave me to try was over the top! Perhaps the best char siu I've had to date. My server, Bobby? Did a fantastic job and was very informative and I can tell he really likes what he does thru his enthusiasm

With about 9-10 people per table, we were treated to what felt like at least ten courses. There wasn't much time for photos, as conversation and catching up naturally took precedence. The standouts were the seafood fried rice and the green onion lobster and crab stir-fry -- rich, comforting, and generously flavoured, the kind of dishes that quietly anchor a long meal. It was a busy holiday weekend, and the restaurant was packed. Our original 7:00 p.m. reservation was delayed until 8:00 p.m., leaving many of us waiting outside in the cold. Once seated, the pacing felt off, with dishes arriving out of sequence, which gave the meal an oddly disjointed rhythm. A small apology or update from the staff would have been welcome, but none came. Overall, the food was very tasty, and I would consider returning -- particularly to explore more of their seafood offerings.

However, what truly disappointed me was the poor service. Even though the restaurant was not busy, the dishes were served very slowly. The first 2 dishes came out fast, but the later 2 dishes came out after 45 min. When we asked for additional rice and water, we had to wait an unusually long time. Throughout the meal, we felt neglected. It was hard not to feel that the level of service was noticeably indifferent, possibly because we did not order any high-priced seafood or premium dishes. For a restaurant at this price point, the service was simply unacceptable. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. I would not return and would not recommend it.
