This place doesn't look that big from the street, but it's got to be one of the largest restaurants on Robson. Both the prep area where they are making dumplings, visible through large glass windows, and the restaurant are quite large. The menu is vast, and includes many Chinese favorites plus items we hadn't tried before. The pan, fried shrimp and pork potstickers or a dish unlike any I've had before. It looked like they started with traditional potstickers, but then fried them all together on a semi sweet, thin crêpe, forming a single crispy item. It was pretty interesting and quite tasty. We were less enthusiastic about the pan, fried Chinese, green onion, pancake, which was pretty tough and had a rather lead consistency. My favorite item was Gongbao Chicken. It was the traditional preparation with peanuts, and just enough spicy peppers to make it interesting. Service was pleasant, and pricing is reasonable. Was quiet on the Friday lunch when we were there, but it was good Friday, and I hear the place gets quite crowded during busy times. The bento boxes look like a good deal, and I think I would try one of those next time.

Dinesty was the one restaurant that I had super high hopes for. This was my last meal in Vancouver and I have to say my hubby and I were very very very unimpressed and was left unsatisfied and disappointed. Coming from LA, where there are lots of delicious dumpling options Dinesty just didn't even make the cut. Their menu is super extensive, where they just have so many different options. You are able to watch the dumpling chefs make dumplings right when you walk in. Ordered: *Shrimp Siu Mai- This was just ok, nothing special. *XLB (Juicy Dumpling) - juicy but just didn't pack the flavor punch Din Tai Fung would have. *Pork & Shrimp Potstickers - I have never had potstickers that had the shrimp tail still on it. It was really odd to me. I ate one and just couldn't eat another one. It was so odd to me that both ends was open. *Spicy shirmp wontons- this lacked flavor and a kick. The dipping sauce was lacking flavor. We asked for soy sauce and vinegar to make our own afterwards but it tasted the same. I believe it was the sauces they have therefore, it did not do much of a difference to the taste of our food. Service was just ok, nothing special. Food did come out pretty quickly. The inside seemed pretty spacious and could house many ppl. Restaurant was clean and food presentation was decent. If you are from out of town and want to try a new dumpling spot, then I say come but even if you do not, you are not missing out on anything. Again, I have been to China and am a huge fan of eating dumplings. So I like trying different establishments take on their various dumplings and I can say that it was a huge disappointment coming here. I wasted my calorie intake and money. Tips: *Credit card accepted. *Indoor seating only. *Yelp waitlist available but they actually do not check *Staff speaks English/Chinese. *Street metered parking. *Restroom available. *They have more than one location.

This is my go-to Chinese restaurant whenever I visit Vancouver. The space is big and lovely, modern, and includes a bubble tea shop as well. There's also a big window through which you can see the XLB being made. The food comes out pretty quick and I also love how many options are on the menu. Service is quick and we never have trouble flagging down a waiter. It really leaves nothing to be desired. On the menu, choose from dim-sum, boba, or entrees. My favorites are the squirrel-shaped fish, beef steak, pan-fried pork buns, simmer chicken, and XLB. The soup tofu and beef scallion roll are notable as well. Note: in addition to street metered parking, there is an entire parking garage below this building for customers. There are spots specially marked for Dinesty customers and we are always able to find a spot.

Friday evening. Dinner for two at 6:30. Just narrowly missed the line of people. Ordered steamed veggie and egg dumplings, spring rolls, and fried tofu pudding with garlic sauce. Two beers and a sprite. Pros - the fried tofu pudding. So delicious and smooth on the inside and a thin crispy skin breading. - service is prompt and polite - plenty of room with our table by the window, away from the crowds in the back of the restaurant

Best soup dumplings!!! We ordered the pork and crab along with other dishes and we wished we'd only gotten the soup dumplings. We ordered just pork one after as it was too good. So juicy and the skin is SO thin! We wish there were more available outside of Vancouver. It's spacious inside and we didn't have to wait around lunch time. Service was quick. Will be back!

I had so much high hope but I was so disappointed after visiting this place. Nothing in my order was right and I wish the server would have advised me while taking the order because menu did not specify any of this information. The noodles I ordered turned out to be cold and soggy and too much coated in peanut and seaseme. There was no mention on menu that these are cold noodles. Chicken was fried with the skin and bone, again no mention of it on the menu or by server. My fruit tea was not fresh but canned and I am doubting the fruits in it. Either they are wasting those fruits or reusing for other cans, both are terrible things to do. You cant eat the fruits in your tea because it's sealed. Someone really needs to check on this. Pork dumplings could have been better. NOT RECOMMENDED! I ended up spending 60 dollars and ate nothing.

This restaurant has a few other locations. I went to their Dinesty Richmond Gilbert location a few years ago and had a very positive experience. So we were back in Vancouver and found their location in downtown. Excitedly entered the restaurant. But I thought that the food quality & tastes were not as good as the previous experience at Richmond Gilbert. Ordered: - Crab meat & Pork XLB - Kimchi & Pork XL - Black truffle & Pork XLB - Shrimp, Scallop & Pork XLB - Stir fried Rice Cake with Pork & Chicken - Pan fried Pork Potstickers Stir fried rice cake and the potstickers were waaaay oily. All the XLBs tasted one dimensional - and lacked the flavors that were promised in their names. It was disappointing... they may taste vastly differently depending on the locations, if so, I will not come back to this location and try going back to Richmond location.

Steamed Black Truffle & Pork Soup Dumplings (ate one before taking the photo)

I had a very good meal at Dinesty Dumpling House during my recent trip to Vancouver! I was in the mood for soup dumplings, and what started as a snack ended up being a full dinner. I was intrigued by their Steamed Black Truffle & Pork Soup Dumplings, so I started with an order of that. I'll be honest, this left a bit to be desired--there was way too much truffle oil/seasoning on the dumplings and was very overpowering, not just in flavor but also in smell. If you like a lot of truffle flavoring though, then definitely get it. Next I thought I'd "wash" that all down then by getting an order of Braised Beef Noodle Soup, and making it extra spicy. Now this dish was totally worth it--I loved every single bite, and the portion was so huge I took it home and had it for lunch the next day. Service here was very kind to me too as well, and many people around me all seemed to be enjoying their meals. Definitely consider visiting Dinesty Dumpling House!

Our family dined here for lunch today (July 24, 2024), and it was pretty good! I'd say it's a cheaper Canadian version of Din Tai Fung. The quality was nearly on par with DTF, too. The inside of the restaurant had plenty of tables for large groups and it had pretty simple decor. We ordered the juicy pork dumplings and the skin was really thin, while the meat on the inside was quite tasty and soupy. The other dishes we ordered included the pan friend shanghai style rice cake, green scallion pancake, spicy wontons, dan-dan noodles, deep fried calamari, and green chive pocket. The food came out quite fast after we ordered, and our table was full of dishes in a short period of time. The star of our meal was the juicy pork soup dumplings. Even tough they came with 6 dumplings per order, the price was very reasonable and priced lower than the dumplings at DTF in California. I'd highly recommend this dumpling restaurant to anyone that visits Vancouver (or lives locally here).

Food is decent, but nothing that stood out to me. The XLB and dumplings were okay, but not on the same level as Din Tai Fung or anything I've had in Taiwan or Shanghai. The spicy wontons lacked flavor and spice and were the most disappointing of the bunch. The presentation of food was neat, the restaurant was clean, and the service was quick. I love that they have a window where you can see the workers making the dumplings by hand. If you're in the area and there isn't a wait then I'd say this is an acceptable spot to satisfy your hunger or craving.

Good chinese food, but nothing super duper outstanding. I saw this spot had good reviews and wanted to give it a try. We got a few items, with my favorite probably being the beef roll pancake. Something about the scallion pancake combo with beef and hoisin is so good. The soup dumplings and potstickers were fine, but I also did like the red bean rice cake for dessert -- it reminded me just of the din tai fung one! Service was okay, and the restaurant itself is huge. If you're looking for something filling and satisfying in the area, look no further!

    Braised Beef Noodle Soup. Delicious!

A friend of mine brought my husband and I here for dinner. If you don't get there before they open at 5pm, there's always a long line. The parking lot only had parking meters near by the restaurant. We were quickly seated and tea was brought to us. We ordered Braised Beef Noodle Soup, [Special]Steamed Pork Soup Dumplings, Steamed Shrimp, Scallop, & Pork Soup Dumplings (6), Steamed Vegetable & Pork Dumplings (6), Pan Fried Shrimp & Pork Pot Stickers (6pcs), Pan Fried Pork Pot Stickers (6pcs), Pan Fried Marinated Beef Wraps (4pcs)...etc. The dumplings were brought to the table at the same time and were piping hot but cooled down quickly. The cold Dumplings and Stickers didn't taste very good. The beef noodles was delicious and the meat was meltingly tender. Pan Fried Shrimp & Pork Pot Stickers were crispy and yummy. Good service and quick service. Next time I want to try something else.

Upon entering Dinesty Dumpling House, you're greeted with a window to the open kitchen where you see dumplings in the making. The restaurant is modern and large, but a bit cramped (tables close to each other). I ordered a small hot & sour soup and pork xiao long baos (6 piece). The hot & sour soup was good, warming on a cold day with a good balance of spicy and sour flavors. But the XLBs were just ok, not super flavorful and unmemorable. Service was quick, not the friendliest but also not rude. I wouldn't return if they're out of the way.

Selections are decent. however the menu is very confusing as they have a posted menu online, a digital menu via QR code and some posted menus. Unfortunately the menus were not in sync. My friend saw a couple of things she wanted to try from the online menu and was told they do not have those items. There are combo on the spot which are not their online menu and the digital menu. We ordered the chicken panini, a small mango bingsu and an order of tue mochi bubble waffle and taro milk tea. The food is very good. there is decent amount of ingredients in the chicken panini (which i forgot to take a picture of). The mochi bubble waffle was decent and i liked the taro milk tea as well. The bingsu was very well made but the price is a bit on the high end given the size. Overall service was good too

Located on the same block as quite a few other popular HK dessert spots, I more inclined to go to Rose Cafe because it's quieter and a more comfortable environment to relax and sit around in. The boss mentioned they can make anything for us (!) including ginger milk, the sago desserts and that they event have the pistachio paste (yum!). For a quick dessert run - I opted for the small mango shaved iced, it's served with nice and ripe mango chunks, and a fresh mango shaved ice base. For just about $10 it's worth the dessert stop! They had a nice menu of several classic HK items - from deep fried chicken wings, to bubble waffles to pearl based drinks that only HK locals would order. Worth a try if and when you're in the Nanaimo / Kingsway area! Also (!) - very reasonably priced flowers and potted plants!!!

I personally tried the cheese foam black tea with mochi and golden pearls which costed close to 10CAD. The cheese foam was slightly salty and pretty creamy, and the taste is much more pronounced when you dip the plain mochi into the drink. The mochi itself was slightly soft though a bit uneven in texture as some parts are chewy and some parts are already a little bit dry. I do like they nicely wrapped the mochi in a plastic bag to preserve the moisture, though I ended up trying it out immediately to get the maximum freshness. The tea itself is flavorful and not too sweet, which is what I intended because I opted for light sugar (30%). The golden pearls were pretty chewy and are the right preferred texture. While I liked the general quality of the drinks, like other reviews mentioned, the price of the drinks are a bit on the higher end but the quality did not really scale up compared to a good boba spot.
