So I ordered a bit later to closing and this is what I got. The other two one bite was taken and then thrown out. Not sure how long this sat under a heat lamp but it wasn't like all my previous experiences with their food. This is the second time in a row I've noticed a drop in quality. I'm sorry, but when you order 5 dishes costing a little over $100 dollars, you expect quality. Other dishes were okay, but definitely not hot and fresh.

I got some takeout and everything was really good. My rather fussy dining companion really enjoyed the chicken with pineapple and the Szechuan fried chicken and shrimp. When I went to pick up the food I noticed the restaurant was bright and clean and the server was very pleasant. I walked right by it the first time. It's hard to spot but worth the search.

For the past two days have been craving for Chinese food. have been going through yelp to find a good place to eat, so tried this place . We came from Shanghai so we really have high expectations re Chinese food . The service was quick and food was served quickly . But somehow something was missing from the taste . We just liked the fried rice and the chicken . The gyoza was not so good . Even the beef and wonton was just ok. quantity is huge . You just should know what to order.

I was excited to order their beef chow mein. They use the correct noodles and fry it crispy like how it's supposed to be. I currently live in a city where I can't get this dish so I no longer take it for granted when I am able to eat it. The beef is super tender, the sauce is delicious and the portion is very generous. They do however lack in their hot pepper department-- they need to order some hot chili crisp oil sauce. The hot and sour soup was really tasty too. I felt like the mushrooms didn't go well with it though (at least not in whole pieces). It could definitely use some other fillers to give it some substance.

Very filling and satisfying food! We came around 7:30pm on a Saturday night (rainy) and it was pretty empty. The server was attentive and kept refilling our water. Both were very sweet and answered our questions. My vegan friend ordered the spicy tofu and said it was great! It was fried and very crispy, but still light and fluffy inside. He said it could use a little more flavor, but thoroughly enjoyed it. The string beans, deep fried spicy fish with rock salt, and ginger beef we shared were also great! The string beans were crunchy and flavorful, but a little bit too salty for me. The fish was very light and crispy with a good amount of flavor. The ginger beef flavor was good, but it was a little bit dry and chewy. The servers gave us some chili oil which just made everything that much better. If we lived in Vancouver, we'd probably be back more often!

Hey it's St Paddy's weekend so you know what that means - time for Chinese food! LOL We ended up on Robson street as part of our extended walking tour of downtown having started back in Yaletown earlier. Had not been to Chongqing in years. Last time I went was to their Commercial Drive location. I fondly remember having many a plate of Ginger Beef there over the years! In fact it was so good I remember taking out of town relatives there whom were so hesitant on Chinese food. Put it this way - they didn't want to leave after we ate!!! I'm happy to say the warm, helpful & kind service still exists here! OK this location is very small but keep in mind you shouldn't have to wait too long if it's full house. Service is prompt & efficient. This is Robson Street afterall so most people are wanting to eat quick & get back out to go people watching or shopping! We had Stir Fried Scallops, Cantonese BBQ Duck & Fried Green Beans. Very tasty, flavourful & with slight heat! Loved it! I never was really into duck up until the last few years. I'm catching up for all the years I missed out on having it! Ha Chongqing see you sooner than later!

Excellent Chinese restaurant, cozy and well managed in a small space. Service was remarkable, no matter was Saturday at lunch time. We had BBQ Duck , and one of the lunch special with corn chicken soup , brócoli and chicken lettuce wraps . All dishes were outstandingly delicious, generous portions and well presented. Things to notice, the waiter suggested me to ask only half portion of BBQ Duck , because I order full size, and it could be to much , kindly appreciated his suggestion , and so far it is the only restaurant that starts with 10% tip, others start with minimum 18 %. We had a great time , fully packed delicious place but they could handle it and extremely well and very affordable . Can't wait to go back.

    It's crazy duckhalf duck

In this restaurant, everything is terrible, from service to food, they brought pores of duck for $50, 5 pieces of meat and that's it. It's the most terrible experience in Vancouver. Just don't come here and no one ever

I was a bit disappointed with the quality of the food. The portions were big. I got takeouts and their rule is that you have to order full orders and not half (cuz some dishes have the option to get half sized but only available for dine-in) I got 4 dishes - the deep fried tofus in red sauce, their special fried rice, stir fried string beans in szchesuan sauce, and a chicken dish. They all shared one brown, murky colour. No flavours in all of the dishes (except the tofu dish). My favourite was the tofu because they actually had a bit of a taste and the colour of the tofu really stood out

Two words. Peking duck. Don't stray from this. And they only have 3 a day so roll the dice that the odds are in your favor. Everything else was a miss. Even kind of the Peking duck. (Apparently you will only get the skins and none of the meats because they will save it to make other things) so if you order the 3 course meal. You'll have a gooey version of egg drop duck soup and lettuce cups that are pretty good too. But these are the only redeeming factors. We ordered green beans, Dai Ching chicken, and Mongolian beef. Holy SALT. This food was inedible and they all used the. same. exact. sauce. Literally someone in the kitchen was like, let me put some MSG, add some salt, XO sauce. Oh and they want it on three dishes? More salt!!! Their salt and pepper pork ribs were the only other thing that we could eat. And unfortunately the rest of our food went to waste. So if you're coming here. Just stick with the Peking duck.

A cute cozy restuarant in Chinatown. We came here because of the Peking duck. We had Peking ducks many times in East Coast and never had Peking duck skin without meat until we had it here lol Full order of Peking duck skin consists of simply 6 pieces of duck skin and 6 pieces of duck that has meat and skin attached together. No sauces on the table, just oyster sauce that came with the dish. The meat was a bit too dry. I liked my Peking duck from East Coast way better. Sweet and sour soup......not sour enough. Yes, it was sweet, it was sour but when it's all together it was bland. I like sweet and sour and I can eat alot but it was a disappointment at this place. Server was very neutral, didn't feel very welcoming. A sense of bleh.

I came to Vancouver BC solely for the Chinese food and this place did not disappoint! My boyfriend and I ordered the won ton with red pepper and peanut sauce, orange peel chicken, fried green beans szechuan style, and the shanghai chow mein with shredded pork. The service was below average, it seemed there were not enough staff to tend to the customers making the sit down and ordering time long. Red pepper and peanut sauce: Great flavor, however too much sauce, pretty large portion size! Orange peel chicken: We ordered the full portion, for two people I would recommend ordering the half size. Great flavor, but small pieces of chicken. Fried green beans szechuan style: AMAZING. Best dish we had, this is a must try. There was great flavor, perfectly salted, crunchy with the right about of "char" on the outside. Highly recommend. Shanghai chow mein with shredded pork: 2nd best dish we ordered. Perfectly flavored and salted. We loved the bigger noodles. Recommendations are more staff and offering to make dishes more spicy! Would definitely come back!

Good food and service! After a long day of walking, the boyfriend and I stumbled upon Chongqing and decided to give them a try. We were immediately greeted and seated. Soon after, we received our hot tea, which was delicious and constantly refilled throughout the meal. We ordered from their lunch menu: - Chicken Corn Soup - Ginger Beef - Wonton w/ Red Pepper and Peanut Sauce The Chicken Corn Soup was tasty and super satisfying. The Ginger Beef was fantastic! It was my favorite out of what we ordered. It was flavorful and had a nice crunch to it. And lastly the Wonton w/ Red Pepper and Peanut Sauce was alright. There was a good balance of heat from the peppers and creaminess of the peanut sauce. It was definitely something new for me. However, the sauce is a bit heavy so after a few bites I was done. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but clean and nicely decorated. Staff was attentive, food was good and affordable, and I LOVE their playlist. They were playing nonstop 90's and 2000's R&B and hip-hop! Yesss!

A Gastronomic Awakening in Chinatown! You don't truly know…read moreuntil you go--and now that I've been, I'm haunted. As I write this, I am literally still dreaming of the Hong Kong Style BBQ Pork. It didn't just "eat" well; it dissolved into a decadent, sweet, fatty puddle of pure bliss. Walking in, the vibe is quintessential Chinatown: a bustling counter, a glass case showcasing glistening roasted treasures, and a seating area that trades fancy decor for pure, functional authenticity. We were clearly out of our element, probably looking like deer in headlights, but the staff met our confusion with warm smiles. Then came Bobby--the absolute heart and soul of this place. We walked in expecting the standard American-Chinese routine, but Bobby whisked us away to a cozy table and treated us like family. He started us off with a fragrant jasmine tea so naturally sweet and floral it didn't need a grain of sugar--perfect for a biting winter night. While we flirted with the Happy Hour menu, Bobby took the reins. You don't say no to a man with that much charisma and passion! On his expert recommendation, we pivoted to the Two-Meat Combo (BBQ Pork + Soy Chicken) with a side of their famous Roast Duck. The food arrived in a lightning-fast 10 minutes, but the real treat was Bobby's play-by-play on how each dish was prepared. You can taste the pride in every bite. The balance was masterclass: a symphony of sweet, salty, and umami. The meats were succulent, the skins were shattery-crisp, and the glazes were perfectly sticky. The undisputed heavyweight champion, however, was that Hong Kong BBQ Pork. Imagine the best "burnt ends" of your life, drenched in a caramelized, mouth-watering sauce that demands your full attention. We left Chinatown BBQ feeling more than just sated--we felt enlightened. If you're looking for a "one in a million" meal, let Bobby order for you. You won't regret it.

With about 9-10 people per table, we were treated to what felt like at least ten courses. There wasn't much time for photos, as conversation and catching up naturally took precedence. The standouts were the seafood fried rice and the green onion lobster and crab stir-fry -- rich, comforting, and generously flavoured, the kind of dishes that quietly anchor a long meal. It was a busy holiday weekend, and the restaurant was packed. Our original 7:00 p.m. reservation was delayed until 8:00 p.m., leaving many of us waiting outside in the cold. Once seated, the pacing felt off, with dishes arriving out of sequence, which gave the meal an oddly disjointed rhythm. A small apology or update from the staff would have been welcome, but none came. Overall, the food was very tasty, and I would consider returning -- particularly to explore more of their seafood offerings.
