Location had an odd table setup with 2-tops in the middle of the usual flow of traffic, which seemed like a poor maximization of table tops. Regardless, we got a table quickly and then were presented with the massively huge menu--lots of different options and small-plate options, as well as noodles, soups, and dumplings! (As I don't eat Pork or Beef, about 3/4 of the menu were off-limits for me...but shrimp dumplings and the vegetarian side dishes looked great.) Overall service was a bit slow once we put in our order. Apps came out quickly, but the dumplings and soup took a bit longer than we expected. Water refills had to be called over every time, and they weren't super on top of that. This is a huge negative when we're also just sitting there, waiting for entrees, OR when we're eating spicy foods! Bean sprouts (with dried garlic and sesame oil) were phenomenal!!! Cucumber salad (not pictured) was boring--just a bit of oil and very little tang/vinegar. No spice! Waste of small plate. Shrimp Dumplings in Spicy Garlic Sauce were delicious (and not too hot/spicy!). Well-stuffed, deliciously delicate and chewy dumpling wrapper, and nicely seasoned shrimp mix inside. Wonton Soup with Shrimp Dumplings--this dish was the main cause for the 3 star rating. Not only did it taste like the Wonton boiling water (no taste, no salt/MSG/flavour, no pepper, no onion, no garlic, no spice), but it ruined the otherwise delicious shrimp dumplings as they continued to overcook in the hot water. This was not a soup, but just the hot boiling water. (If the intention was "delicate flavour", they missed it by a mile.) Thankfully a manager (?) came over to ask us how the food was. We were already running late to get back to our hotel, so we just wanted the soup taken off of our bill. She was gracious and removed it (offered to remake, but we couldn't take it back with us). Her explanation was that they had a new cook, and maybe this dish wasn't quite perfected by the cook just yet. Dunno, but hot water and dumplings does not any type of Chinese/Asian soup make! We left somewhat sated, but also disappointed that a seemingly simple staple "wonton soup" wasn't so simply executed or served at a seemingly upscale Asian eatery (especially in Vancouver's China Town!). Maybe they've retrained the cook by now...but I'm not sure we'd return to see the fruits of their labours. read more

I got takeout from here recently as I wanted a cozy meal with the summer rain but I wanted to go outside my usual of pho, wonton and ramen. I recently went to Taiwan and loved the beef noodle soups so I figured I'd give this spot a try in Van. I ordered the beef noodle soup or with shrimp wonton and beef with flat noodles. The package arrived piping hot - the broth separate from everything else which I always appreciate to avoid overcooking of ingredients. The beef was so incredibly tender and good chunks too! The shrimp wontons were super tasty as well and I liked having the different flavours to play into. I do love a bit of a spice or punch to my beef noodle soups so that was the one thing I was missing but other than that this was delish and I would Order again! read more

We went at dinner time and there was hardly anyone there. I was pretty excited because this place has pretty good reviews for authenticity and yumminess. It's a clean place with seating spread apart. The service was relatively quick. My girlfriend got the signature shrimp wonton beef noodle soup and I got the dry version of the same thing. I definitely prefer mine and found the soup to be a bit heavy and more vinegar-y than I expected. It's my first time having this style of noodle so maybe it's just not my taste. I probably should of tried some noodles to give this place a proper review - but ended up trying the beef brisket rice - Brisket pieces were soft and fair sized - however flavor was pretty lacking in the sauce and meat - possibly wasn't marinated long enough? - Rice had some clumpy bits that were a tad bit cold - but when you mix it around with the rest then it was okay. Service was pretty fast, no wait on a Saturday afternoon is a win - tables were all spread out - so conversing shouldn't be an issue. GREAT food!!! It's over my expectations. When I walk by the restaurant, it looks like those fast Taiwanese food restaurants, I didn't expect the food was that good. We order pork chops rice and beef noodles (their signature I think). The pork chops were a lot and very soft, it also came with Taiwanese kimchi, it sounds weird but I love it. I love this location, as it's a centrally located in the heart of Vancouver's bustling Chinatown. The staff are super efficiently, friendly, and they seated us right away. We've had lots of Taiwanese food through mutual friends, but we love the flavours this restaurant serves up. For a quick snack, we shared the beef noodle soup with a side of brisket + pan fried beef wraps. The broth for the soup is amazing, and the meat is super tender. The beef wraps are an incredible ratio of savoury to sweet. Definitely left us wanting more, but we had dinner plans so didn't want to put us over the edge. Found this place while walking with a friend in China Town in August. Ratings looked good on Yelp so we had to see with our own eyes. The restaurant shows they boil the soup for 12 hours with Chinese spices. They specialize beef noodle on the menu and the price varies depending on topping. I got Beef Tendon and Noodles ($16.55) while a friend got Signature Beef Noodle ($15.55). It was bjg and filling. Meat pieces were tender. Noodles were good. Food was okay. Wanting to use an Uber Eats coupon, we decided on a few dishes from RedBeef including their shank and tendon soup noodle (yes, again) which came with piping hot broth, a large portion of noodles and tender beef. The soup is nice and clear with hardly any fat but still very flavourful with a hint of spiciness. We also got their salty peppery chicken nuggets that were very well spiced and a pretty good portion size. They did end up a little less than crispy but take out is probably the main culprit. Finally, we added a fried chicken cutlet with curry on rice. This was a huge bowl of rice with not too much chicken but it did come with a piece of tofu, some broccoli and their rice had some pork on it which was a nice touch. I ordered takeout from this restaurant. It's in a sketchy part of town so it's a bit nerve-wracking to go there. I wouldn't recommend going alone late at night. Their signature beef noodle soup was an overall disappointing experience because the beef tasted off. The broth was delicious though. The dry noodles with scallion was pretty bland. Stopped by for a quick dinner with my wife. We ordered the popcorn chicken and the Taiwanese sausage rice dishes. The popcorn chicken was crunchy and well seasoned. The Taiwanese sausage was very savory with a slightly sweet taste. Both meals came out in a gigantic bowl with about 3-4 servings of rice. You can definitely make it into 2 meals. When our original lunch plans fell through.. we surprisingly saw this restaurant down the street. We got seated right away and service was quick and welcoming. Very similar to dimsum ordering.. we click online to choose which dishes we want and the server goes over it again with us in person to verify. It didn't take long for the food to come out and they came out piping hot. It's hard to compare flavors to Din Tai Fung but it's closely comparable! Flavors are there and portions are decently large. I love Taiwanese cuisine and had to stop by to get some beef noodle soup before heading back to Seattle. I ordered their signature beef & tendon noodle soup and beef and organs in chili sauce. My partner got premium beef noodle soup. I was surprised how huge the noodle bowl was. I really enjoyed the flavor and it is not too salty where it makes me feel thirsty or dry mouth later. The broth is delicious but feels like it is still missing something. The beef and organs appetizer came with tender meat, tendons, and intestines. Personally, it can be more spicy and wish the tendons/intestines are served slightly more chilled to add some texture to it. read more

We didn't realize Vancouver had such good Taiwanese food. After visiting another popular Taiwanese spot the night before, we had a hankering for those succulent beef noodles again for lunch. There were plenty of seats and no wait for our party of 6 around noon. All the appetizers were on point. The popcorn chicken was extra crispy that is typical of Taiwanese popcorn chicken. The wontons in chili oil were also incredibly tasty. We found ourselves dropping everything in the chili oil before we ate it. The portions for the noodles were huge. I could've easily split with another person. The wontons were perfectly boiled, some places boil them a little too long to the point that the skin melts away but that wasn't the case here. And the broth was so flavorful and had so much depth to it. There's a slight tang to it, could be all the spices and just hours of making the broth. But it was a welcome tang, it was very appetizing and I couldn't stop drinking the soup. Also ordered the bubble tea here and it's made with fresh tea bags in each one! read more

No problem, so I just ordered the soup with no extra (loss of potential upsell by the store). Decent flavour with big chunks of beef but the broth was a tad salty. Issue comes with asking waitress to make the broth spicy... blank look she says she will bring chili. Order comes with pickle but no chili... she forgot. No problem asked another worker and original lady gives me a look. They removed the empty dishes quickly even though place was half full and no customers lining up. Made to feel rushed and that they need the table back... Comes time to pay tip option starts at 15% 20% 25%. Where is the 10% 15% 20% ? Are you kidding me? This culture of "tip creep" is starting to annoy the heck out of me, especially if you have done really nothing to earn it. No smile. No thank you or your welcome when I acknowledge you with a "thank you" for bringing the meal to me. End up giving a custom tip of 10%. This is a case where I would prefer a Japanese robot server. Perfect place for a cold wintry dinner !! The broth here is so so flavorful and the noodles have a great chewy handmade texture. The premium beef has soup poured over the rare beef so it's extra tender, as are the other cuts of beef in the soup. There's also little pieces of corn in the premium which gives a nice sweet bite. We also ordered their pork chops which were also very delicious, crispy and flavorful-- so good. They also gave us warm water to drink since it was so cold! We walked thru the filthy streets of Vancouver's Chinatown looking for a place to eat. We had about given up when we found this little jewel. From the outside it's nothing special, on the inside it's a gem. I had the curried beef with rice and my wife had the beef pho. They brought mine out first. There wasn't much beef chunks in my dish but times are hard. I don't fault them. They then brought out her dish. I've never seen it done this way but the dry ingredients are in the bowl and a steaming tea kettle of broth is poured over the bowl of goodies. Our lunch cost 36 dollars Canadian... Great addition to China town. It replaced the previous restaurant called Rhinofish which was also a place that served Taiwanese food. Portions were generous. Service was great. Adequately spaced tables to provide physical distancing. Hong shao beef noodle was excellent. Broth was flavorful with tender beef and al Dante noodles. Very comforting to have on a rainy (or not) Vancouver day. The 盐酥鸡rice was also superb. Not oily at all. Crispy and flavorful chicken bites with rice. Also comes with complimentary sides. Nice touch! This is a relatively new location. Other locations include Kits on 4th and the "Express" ones in Richmond and New West. Didn't end up getting photos of everything that was ordered as we couldn't wait to dig in! Service was great and they provide hand sanitizer, contact tracing, and free bottles of water as COVID protection measures. They have quite a selection of dishes and we realized that you can change noodle options from regular thin noodles to clear vermicelli or thick flat noodles. We settled on 4 different beef noodle soup dishes and 3 appetizer dishes. The 4 noodle soups were - Tomato Beef Noodle Soup with Thick/Flat noodles, Premium Signature Beef Noodle Soup with Regular noodles, Half Beef Half Tendon with Regular noodles, and Clear Broth Beef Brisket with Thick/Flat noodles. The Premium Signature Beef Noodle Soup is a bit pricey but the novelty and portion size was worth trying at least once. The consensus was that the Tomato Beef Noodle Soup was the best tasting even though I thoroughly enjoyed all the soups. Both the Regular noodles and the Thick/Flat noodles had great texture. I personally prefer thicker noodles in general. The 3 appetizer dishes we ordered was the Salt and Pepper Popcorn Chicken, Deep Fried Squid Tentacles, and Pan-Fried Pork Buns. The portions were good. Definitely will come back again once they have their dessert offerings figured out! read more

Great Taiwanese food but this location is very bad. You need to pass through a ton of crack camps and homeless camps to get here. It feels like a dangerous area. Red Beef has another location in Kitsilano - go to that one because it's a much safer area. read more

I'd tried a few dishes for take out here, wasn't anything special and some (brisket stewed rice) was a rather disappointing but perhaps this was due to the height of the pandemic but my recent few visits were fairly pleasant. So far I've tried Premium Beef Noodle Soup- clear & signature soup, Signature Beef Noodle Soup, Salt & Pepper Popcorn Chicken, Salt & Pepper Squid Tentacles, Beef & Organs in Chilli Sauce, Sauce Braised Beef Shank, Taiwanese Deep Fried Tofu, Tofu with Preserved Eggs, Shrimp Wontons in Chili Oil. Everything is done fairly well except it was all a bit too salty. My fav is the Premium Beef Noodle soup with Clear soup as this soup base isn't nearly as salty as the signature. According to my Chinese coworkers some dishes weren't authentic- eg. Beef & Organs in Chilli Sauce is supposed to be served cold rather than warm. I've also had much better Shrimp wontons in chilli oil at another restaurant. Just a note you cannot order Premium Beef Noodle soup for take out- likely due to the fact it uses rare beef. In general prices are a bit high but looks like the trend these days especially in this up-and-coming Chinatown area. read more
