Previously, it was order and wait to be served the items. Sometimes the items were missing, too little or too much. Now, the hot pot items are placed in an open refrigerator, and you can go up as many times as you like to select your items. The thinly sliced meats must be ordered. Soup base is an additional $10. We were mindful to not waster food, so we rather go up multiple times to select our items. The hot pot items in the refrigerator included a variety of greens, seafood, vegetables, and some meats in chunks/balls. A taro flavoured ice cream was served as a dessert - so good. This was my favourite location for a long time. I was that regular where the boss lady would come around and say hi to and chat. Many times I'd swing by for a quick lunches too. Positives. Self serve station where everything is cold and very well maintained (no greasy tongs). Also variety of veggies is one of the reasons I keep returning. Their hot station varies, but I l love the sesame balls, occasional chicken wings, the chef does their version of a hot sauce rice roll which was allot better than many Korean places I've tried- I know- odd, but they do smash those heavy carb hot foods out of the parks at this location. Hesitant. I kinda not know what my final bill is, they ran a promo this summer and the base soup was included. Sometimes in the evening I get charged for base soup. I recently got charged for base soup, as I don't get offered the menu anymore as I just shout out "house soup" when I sit down. Also, the random few times I buy a few packaged of hot pot mixes, somehow I have tipped on top of that too. So it looks like there have been some changes since the last time I was here. The place has a nice large self serve raw food section (Big Way style), and now has a hot food section (spring rolls, noodles, buns, deep fried chicken wings), which is similar to the Kingsway (Burnaby) location. Some may not like this, but personally I find it way faster to simply grab a pile of whatever I want, in the desired quantity. My only complaint is that they use dinner plates for this, which makes it quite easy to spill food during transport. Deeper large bowls would be more useful in this application. As of the time of writing, the AYCE dinner menu is flat rate all afternoon/evening (Kingsway starts at 2030), which is nice. However, this location has a "premium" menu (unlike Kingsway), which includes lamb, AAA beef, frozen oysters (limit 2 per person), fried bean curd rolls, and deep fried fish skins. Something to keep in mind. Service is a bit slow, as the staff were a bit swamped despite the restaurant being full. The premium items are served by the staff (ie not self serve). Ice cream cones are also staff only. Cones are unlimited though, which is nice. Other than that, the food selection is great. Everything is decently fresh. It is now $21.99 and they've changed it to a self serve bar for everything except beef and lamb (which you still have to order via the servers). Now I can get exactly the amount I want and not get random amounts when I ask for 1 quantity haha. I visited Happy Lamb during All-You-Can-Eat Lunch for only $21.99 and was throughly impressed! They have a generous self-serve bar filled with various vegetables, noodles and meats, from kambocha to fish balls to chicken pieces. Plus a hot food station for you to munch on while waiting for your order of lamb/beef slices. Service: Our server was very kind, helpful and patiently answered our questions. Atmosphere: Clean and modern with lots of families and groups! Food: We tried almost a bit of each item from the self-serve and hot food bar and everything was delicious in our half-half soup base (Half mushroom and half spicy). Price: Hands down, worth it! For only $21.99 per person (includes lamb meat), it's one of the best AYCE around! Would I return? YES Pro Tips: Ask for half-half soup and you can choose to mix and match! Hotpot season is back, and we kicked it off at Happy Lamb Hotpot on West Broadway! We went early for dinner to dodge the crowd and tried the All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE) Hot Pot option. We picked the Yin Yang Broth with the House Special Original and Chef's Special Tomato broths - both were ! What really impressed us? The new self-serve ingredients bar! You just grab your favourites from the fridge when you want them, which allows us to manage our portions and avoid food waste. There were so many choices--meat, veggies, seafood, noodles--and we didn't have to wait for anything! Bonus: there's even hot food included in the meal price! You must try the sesame balls - they were super chewy and soft. Don't forget to enjoy the soft-serve ice cream upon finishing their meal. We loved how fast, fun and affordable this new setup is! The weather was cold outside so it felt like a good time to go for hot pot. We decided to try the Happy Lamb Hot Pot in Vancouver, on Broadway. They have a $20.99 All You Can Eat lunch special from Mon. - Fri., 11:30am - 4pm. Last year we had tried the Happy Lamb Hot Pot in Burnaby and very much enjoyed our meal there. It was more expensive, but we were given a wider variety of foods to choose from. There was meat, veggies and tons of seafood. This time, at the Vancouver location, there was no seafood. For $20.99, we were given meat and veggies. While I do eat seafood, I actually tend to prefer going Vegetarian or even Vegan a lot of the time, so the lack of seafood wasn't a problem for me. My husband however, would have preferred to have some seafood on the table. He'd have been willing to pay a higher price to be able to eat seafood, but that option wasn't even available at this location. While seafood would have improved this experience for some people, we were still very happy with the food that we did get and all of us left with very full tummies. For $20.99, the food is very reasonable and if you're someone who can do without seafood in your hot pot then this is a great deal and I'd highly recommend it! We are from socal and have a variety of hotpot. In Vancouver we wanted to find an AYCE and happy lamb popped up. It was a great experience all around. Our server was very attentive and kind and explained the menu to us. She also showed us her recommendations. The cuts of meat, veggies, and other hotpot items were of great quality. Stopped by this weekend for lunch and was greeted with enthusiastic and friendly service. The quality of meat, veggies, and such all remain very good and this location seems to find a way to keep things very clean. Robo-server is on top of it's game and brings another level of charm to the business. Some might say it is taking a job away, but I see it as an assistant to a real server. Someone still needs to load it and be prepared to intervene when/if things get weird. I really have nothing bad to say about Happy Lamb. Been a while since I last actually dined in an establishment (with COVID) and also been quite a while since I last had hot pot. Purchased the Groupon for a set menu for 2 for $40 after checking with a fellow Yelper (Chelsey H) on their COVID compliance. It is a bright and clean room with multiple seating options and high ceilings. They have plexiglass separating the booths and the table seating is quite spread out and socially distanced. There is free 2 hr street parking around the side streets and pay parking on Burrard and also Broadway. For the soup base, we opted for half original and half spicy...both were quite good. My dipping sauce was a combination of soy, peanut and chilli sauce...definitely had plenty of kick. And then they bring out the food....it was basically all you can eat as I could eat no more after we had finished. This is the set menu: Kimchi Premium Lamb Shoulder Marbled Beef Chicken White Prawn Cod Filet Pork and Shrimp Dumplings Assorted Meatball Platter Fish Tofu Cabbage and Lettuce U-Don Noodles Lychee Goji Berry Pudding The food was great as was the service, the servers were friendly and attentive. It has been awhile since I have had the opportunity to indulge in hotpot, so when I passed by this Happy Lamb Hotpot location on Broadway, it mentally stuck to my "must-try" list. Admittedly, I'm the type of person that loves to look up a restaurant's website in hopes of seeing the menu and figuring out (in advance) what I could potentially order. The only downside: the website was hard to find and I had to rely on photos of old menus on Yelp. It let me know the place was all you can eat, even if the prices are slightly outdated. The boyfriend and I arrived a little earlier in the dinner hour (only one other table was filled at that time) so we were able to sit down right away. The restaurant was clean, airy and bright. The setup seems to be the standard "All-You-Can-Eat" hotpot, paying per person, plus the cost of soup base. We chose the half original, half spicy combo. It also seems to be the standard AYCE hotpot place that lets you order two up to two rounds (which we did) which probably pushed us to our dining time limit. By the end of the evening I highly suspected the pot was larger than the stovetop; it was quite amusing to watch only one half of the soup boil, but not the other half. I gave up on trying to figure out the high end technology and we ended up periodically rotating the pot 180 degrees to let the other side boil. What a wonderful experience this was! We got to a smorgasbord of items: shrimp & beef balls, lamb & beef slices, udon & taro noodles, tofu puffs, fish tofu (my favourites), muscles, and different kinds of mushrooms and veggies! There are plenty of choices under the AYCE portion; by the end of the meal we literally waddled out to the restaurant. What I appreciated the most, was the service. The staff were always pleasant and friendly, and by the end of the evening they were running around serving multiple tables of happy patrons. When they heard this was our first time having hotpot (in a long time) they offered to give us a small sampling of all available condiments: peanut sauce, satay sauce, soy sauce, cilantro, peanuts, garlic! This is everything you've dreamed of for an AYCE hot pot. Comfortable and spacious seatings inside. They have a robot as a waiter that helps carry food to the tables as well. We chose two soup broths - one spicy and one regular. It is very easy to order - you get a piece of paper with all the items and just tick off (or write the number of orders desired). Note that some meats, like fatty beef, has a maximum order of 2 times. There's a good variety of items on the menu. Different veggies, tofu, shell fish, meats, fish balls, noodles etc. One of the best things about hot pot is that everyone can pick and eat their own favourite foods. If unsure what an item is, I suggest ordering just 1 order to try it first, so that no food is wasted. However, I do notice in the 2nd order and on wards, less amount of food arrives. It is not a huge issue as they are probably just being conscious of food going to waste. If you can still eat, then can just order again :) There is a booth near the entrance of the restaurant for sauces. I did not notice this, but it is obvious I did not really need extra sauces and toppings as the soup broth was enough for me. Service was pretty good. The day we came i didn't realize that it had recently changed names and our google Ann's Apple maps kept telliNg us to go to Burnaby even though I knew it was here. Six days before they changed names to Little Sheep but it was basically the same layout. We had made reservations and was greeted by a lovely smile from the one of the staff and got to our table right away. We did have one snafu because the second part of our group actually went to BUrnaby because of Google Maps! So we had to wait and the staff was nice enough that we could wait andnorest some beers while waiting. Buy three beers get one free! Wow! Pretty good deal! The AYCE menu was pretty basic. Hadn't had hot pot in two years and decided to come with a group of friends to this nearby place in Kits. We had made reservations and got the nice private room in the back for a seating of eight. They served us pretty quick, but only came around to check a bit infrequently. The menu worked in a way where you had two rounds of all you can eat orders. The dish we ordered was shared amongst four of us and was split halfway with one side being their classic broth and the other being a more spicy, but not too spicy broth. There was plenty of meat to fill us up, but the most interesting items dunked were the beef stomach, lotus root, and blood cubes. The first two were really tasty. Would not recommend blood cubes. Those taste like tofu but then you have the realization you are eating blood and immediately get in your own head and it's just gross. The selection of items to dunk in your dish is pretty reasonable, and the broth was honestly pretty good. The meat was served quickly, and the service cleaned out table pretty fast. Main two issues was not enough weird stuff on the menu (c'mon I wanna eat some brains or gizzards), and the service wasn't that interactive. There wasn't really much friendliness, just get us in and out. Low 4 on my rankings, but would be willing to go again knowing they have a solid menu choice and the food was tasty. read more

Came here on a whim one day when we were looking for a restaurant in the area that could seat a large party without a reservation. The place looked pretty decent...fairly modern, clean, and inviting. The good: price is average, their standard soup base is fairly tasty, portion size for their mini hotpot combo is decent The bad and why the one star rating (I rarely give one star ratings)? Two words: horrible service. Where do I start? The waitress hands us four paper menus and pencils and walked away without saying anything. We had two large rectangular tables to seat our party of 20. We didn't know how she wanted us to order; all on one sheet, on two sheets, or? How would she be able to determine who ordered what? Also sharing four menus among 20 around two large tables is obviously difficult. When the waitress returned 5 minutes later, we asked for more menus plus different ones because she gave us the all you can eat menus, which we were not interested in. (I guess she assumed without asking us that we all wanted to pig out?) She looked annoyed at us asking for them, letting out an audible groan. She returned with three regular menus. We politely asked again for more menus repeating that it's really hard to share three menus with such a large group. She looked even more annoyed before turning around to get more menus. After we placed our orders, we waited probably 30 to 45 minutes for our food to arrive. The restaurant was not at all busy so I don't know why the long wait especially for a hot pot place where the food is all raw and the soup is usually prepared ahead of time. In addition to the long wait, the food came out sporadically. By the time the last person received his food, some were almost finished. Also, two people ordered the $2 upsized option. As the dishes were being delivered, we asked which were the upsized ones since they all looked the same size. The waitress just waved her hands saying (well, almost yelling), "All the same! All large! No small!" We weren't really wanting to argue, especially when half of the group were well into eating their meals. One other thing, since all the combo dishes looked almost identical, during one time as the waitress was delivering four dishes in her hand we asked her, "Which one is Combo D and which was E?" (Those were what we were waiting for.) She looked at us like we were really stupid and said very curtly, "A-B-C-D-E! This is D and E!" and promptly handed us the plates. Uhh, yeah, so she didn't answer our question. We ended up having to figure it out ourselves. It's a good thing we had good company around the table. That took the focus away from the bad service and extremely long time for the food to arrive. A wet, cold and dreary Monday evening - what better time than this to go for hot pot with the family; something warm, filling and accommodates conversation. Not quite sure where to go as previously only knew the Landmark - which is just too expensive, pretentious and noisy. Then I remembered passing by a hot pot place on Broadway and a quick check on Yelp found me this rezzie which apparently is part of a huge chain of hot pot restaurants in China. We were quite early and walking in, I was taken aback that it was empty - thinking I may have chosen a crappy place. All worries were soon ameliorated as the place filled up quickly - even the quite large private rooms at the back. The serving for an all- you-can-eat hotpot was very impressive - fresh, attractively presented and served quickly with their singing robots bringing them to the tables; a bit of a flashy, gimmicky show as the servers still need to take the food off the robot to politely place on our table. A few tips/pointers to watch out for here - * There IS a 90 minutes limit to the dining session but I didn't see/hear anybody being told "time's up" * Don't over-order and leave too much unconsumed food as there is a warning on the menu that they can charge you for wasted food - something I totally agree with as I hate anybody wasting food. * I'm not sure if you can just order free water to boil your food, but there is additional charge for the "House special broth" which one is basically forced to order to truly enjoy the meal. So the "one-price" is a bit misleading, but acceptable I guess. * Do note which items are "paid items" before ticking off your menu to avoid nasty surprises when paying the bill * There is also a limit of 2 orders for some items which I guess are more expensive food items. * Do make good use of the wide variety of condiments and sauces to make your own dipping sauce. I suggest starting out slowly and figure out which ones you like and then come back for more of those you like. * Parking on Broadway is horrible during the sky train construction, but you can park in the paid parking lot via the back alley. Take your parking ticket with you to get reimbursed at the restaurant. Not the cheapest place but one does get value for the price - clean, great service, fresh meats and veggies which is guaranteed to taste exactly how you want it .... as you ARE in charge of the mixture of condiments and sauces! I really enjoyed the food here - we got a ton for a pretty affordable price, and there was a good mixture of seafood, land meats, and noodles and tofu. The variety was nice and the food seemed to be of good quality, and their menu has even more stuff on it I'd like to try. I got to try both their original broth, which was nice and had a lot of fruity aromatics I wasn't used to like jujubes and goji berries, as well as their spicy broth, which was utterly loaded with chilies. Being able to control the temperature on the pot yourself was nice, so once we cranked it up above the default it quickly came to a simmer. Service was great too - all the staff were extremely kind, there was a free pot of tea to share on the table almost immediately, and I even got a coupon for a discount on a future lunch here as I left. TL;DR: the Mongolian spiced pork bone and all of the lamb items on the menu are really really good. Great for big groups and lenient on time. Soup base is nicely flavoured, but you might be a little disappointed if you prefer more spicy/numbing soups. I haven't tried the non-spicy soups by themselves before, but the flavor is even more subtle compared to the spicy soups. Food-wise, the meat is pretty good. It's very thinly sliced, and the orders you can make are limited, but overall of reasonable quality. What really makes this place special is the variety of lamb items (mutton dumplings!!), and the special items near the very beginning of the menu. One addition I'd make is to expand the sauce station -- aside from the basic peanut, soy, and spicy sauces, they don't have much in the way of extra flavours when the soup base in the hot pot gets diluted. I've come here for all-you-can-eat dinner more times than I can count. I like that they have a lot of seats, so you can bring big groups of friends and just have hot pot together, and they are lenient on seating time, which I don't see often with all-you-can-eat restaurants. Some gotchas: they seem to have a minimum of one pot for every four people in your group, which means you have to pay extra for soup base. The service is also a tiny bit slow (they often don't give you all the food servings you ask for), but that can be made up for by placing orders early and often. read more

Well came here with my friend for lunch. We picked here because its close to our office (even though we work in the building beside each other). We both ordered the meat combo. It came with 2 yam, 4 dumpling, lamb, beef, some vegetable and noodle. They have a sauce station which you have to go over and scoop yourself. I put in my bowl: satay sauce, sesame sauce and a bit of soy sauce. The soup that came with it is a herbal soup base. Not bad. I didn't like the noodle too much. Its plain and you have to add sauce to it. The beef is beef and the lamb is lamb. The dumpling was so so. Not a big fan of dumpling. Overall the food is quite fresh. The meat combo also came with a drink. We got prune drink. Not bad. One of my favorite drink. The bill all in for each combo came to $15. Not bad. But seems like if you do all you can eat it would be a better deal. Decor wise, the chairs seems to be falling apart. But not too bad inside. read more

We came here for dinner last night and the place was packed. The aroma of the soup filled the air, always a good indicator of a dinner to come. My friend made reservation and we were seated quickly. It is an all-you-can-eat establishment and I am normally not a fan of that however, the quality of the food here is actually great. We were given 1 sheet to select our food choices and each table is allowed 2 rounds of order. We went a little too heavy the first round. Everything arrived in a timely manner, we received all our refills quickly especially the soup base. They do serve wine and alcohol at this location but our group opted for plum juice, which is quite popular over hotpot. Definitely call ahead for reservation if you can. Best hot pot in Vancouver hands down! I've always loved my experience at Little Sheep. I've gone with colleagues, friends and family - it's a great way to bond and share an amazing meal, which is always fun. Several times, I bought vouchers on Groupon - although there are some limitations to the servings, it is totally worth it. Other times, we paid for unlimited food - very worth it if you have a large appetite. Their lamb is the best - the slices are thin and super quick to cook. The same goes for all their meat. Love their seafood selection - it's fresh and there are so many choices. Their vegetable selection is also great. My favourite are the condiments after the lamb. I absolutely love to play around with and mix my sauce - a little bit of chilli oil, scallion and sesame sauce - so so good! I love their spicy broth so I always go for that - we also get their standard broth in case one of my friends need a break from the spices. It's a little tough to find parking on broadway in the evenings so we park a couple of blocks away where there is free parking. They are always busy so the service can be a little slower than what is expected - sometimes they forget to bring your order but if you remind them, they'll take care of you. This is a massive Little Sheep location and the first I've seen with a nice outdoor seating area! And surprisingly, the first I've seen with actual little sheep images around the location. I've been to two Little Sheeps before and this wasn't the case. Anyway, I had a great dinner here on a Saturday night (and happy we made a 7pm reservation for 7 people since it was totally packed with a wait outside). It came to $35/person after tax and tip for each of us. The service was pretty friendly and efficient, and most importantly the food was gooood. We had all your standard hot pot goods: meats, seafood, tofu, and veggies. There's a standard bar where you create your own dipping sauces. On top of the bar were rice chips and cold sesame sesame noodles for the taking, which was also a new sight for me. I had a taste, but thought better not to fill up before the main event. This Little Sheep provided the perfect setting for my cousins and I to catch up with laughs and childhood stories. I highly recommend this location! We got real thirsty by the end of it all. Since KK Dollar Hotpot closed, I've been looking for a place that meets the following criteria: 1)Decent sauce bar 2)AYCE format 3)Skewered things available a la carte 4)Not exorbitantly expensive Happily enough, Happy Lamb seems to fit the bill on all counts. Service was pleasant if slightly absent. Portions of meat and fish were generous, although Happy Lamb doesn't have some of the more exotic cuts you might find elsewhere. Good hotpot place but my experience here was alright. I don't like the fact that they don't sell pitchers of beer..only by the bottle. As well, the options are very limited. I don't like the fact that you pay and additional price (10-15$) for the broth on top of the ayce price. Certain items have a max number you can order despite it being ayce. We came here at the beginnings of the Covid times, so the restaurant was pretty empty but still had some customers. The staff seemed happy that we chose to come and eat and they were really friendly as they came to drop off our food. We stuck with the original soup base which was very nice and the quality of the ingredients were great. Their sauce station was kept full and clean. Way better than I expected, especially after reading some of the reviews here! We got a Groupon for 2 ($45) that was a set menu. We went when they opened at 11am on a cold Saturday morning and the servers we had were extremely friendly. We got a pot of tea right away and the soup filled pot came out shortly after. We went with the half and half for variety. I'm not sure of all the spices we saw in the soups though we counted a jujube, longans, garlic, peppercorns, lots of chilis, and garlic. Both the original and spicy broth were more flavourful than the hot pot I was used to eating at home though I found the spicy one too spicy for me to drink on its own so I mixed it with the original. We got lots of thin slices of frozen red meat, some raw chicken, white boneless fish, fish and meatballs, prawns, udon noodles, vegetables, pickled vegetables (looked like kimchi but sweet rather than spicy), fish tofus, etc (check the photos for the set). There were also two jellies for dessert. I thought overall the quantity was plentiful and diverse and the broth was so flavourful we didn't even bother going to the condiment cart for sauces. The only thing we didn't finish was the soup! We were much too full for that. I would definitely come back and check out the rest of the menu. read more
