I love that this place opens late until 2am! The space is spacious, neat and the servers are very quick and attentive. Because I went with a friend at 12am, I didn't get hotpot but instead got a wonton noodle soup and minced pork salty egg with watercrest congee. I thought the wonton soup was ok. The portion size in regard to the price is good. The wontons instead are large, flavourful and full of shrimp but I thought the soup base could have a bit more flavour. The congee was good too with regular egg and century egg. There was strong watercrest flavour too. We got the half size and it was still a large portion. Hotpot is not something I would consider in a balmy 30 degrees celsius (86 Fahrenheit) day. However it is something my guests regardless the season prefer. We have been to this place many times in the past. Perhaps once/twice a year for the past 20 odd years. Food here is of premium quality not necessarily the healthiest. 9/10 Service is also at a high level which is very rare for Chinese restaurants. 9/10 Ambiance is getting a bit worn down but the patrons seem to enjoy the food here. Even at 9pm on a weeknight where the neighbourhood restaurants are hosting crickets, LHP is fully booked. 7/10 Price/value. This depends on how you look at it. Expensive yes. Is the price justified? This is a legit hot pot place in Vancouver. How do I know? 1) majority of the menu was not in English 2) servers barely spoke English 3) there were a lot of Chinese people on a busy Friday late night. It was intimidating to say the least walking in not knowing any Chinese. My girls and I agreed having someone who understands and can speak the language would be helpful. We resorted to doing a lot of picture looking on Yelp! And looking and pointing to things other people had on their tables. We almost ordered a full fish because we asked for what kind of seafood and the server said he had one that was 1lb and it was thirtysome CA for it. Well...he came back with a fish over 3lbs..we quickly were able to cancel that request. As intimidating as it was, we were able to order what we wanted and it was one of the best hot pots I have had. They had quality meats and veggies and they give you a lot! For broth, we did the traditional pork and the schezuan and whoa was it spicy! This place is loud, like Asian family gathering loud, so expect that type of ambiance. Did you know they also play happy birthday for you on their sound system too? It's great! Landmark is always one of the pricier places for hotpot in town but it's not pricy for its branding, extravagant decor or noodle dances. Rather - it's reasonably pricy for the quality of its food. Every plate is a piece of art. From the soup bases (I tried shark bone, wow) to the raw dishes, everything is phenomenally fresh. If you're willing to splurge, live seafood is an option. I like the ox tongue, fatty beef, scallop and pork jowl the most. Their fishballs are also extra chewy and "bouncy". Come early or make a reservation beforehand because wait times can be very long. I do like that they have shared long tables where two groups of people can dine with stoves on each end (or one big group). Servers are sometime forgetful, and don't expect much better than your typical cha chan tang (HK style joints), but they never have time to stand around and are always running around. read more

Really authentic Cantonese hotpot! Came here with a friend from Guangzhou. We got the mushroom&chicken clay pot as our carbs. For the soup base, we got the pork bones. The soup itself was sooo rich and flavorful. Do give yourself a serving before putting anything down, and you will love it! The Japanese sliced beef was really fresh and tasty! We Enjoyed it more than the sliced lamb. The specialty, which is smashed fish with fried tofu skins was okay. The vegetables were good. My coworkers and I came here with our client for dinner. We reserved a table a week in advance. We knew this restaurant was always packed and full of customers. That means the food must be good. We ordered a lot of beef and lamb as well as some seafood. The quality of the food was great and fresh! We ordered the food based on the number of people. It was not all you can eat type of hot pot, so we wouldn't waste the food. We also ordered a couple bottles of wine/champagne. The customer service was great. However, once the restaurant was busier, it seems to be under staff. We had to wait for a while whenever we needed to order something. Pricing wise.... it was a bit more expensive than other hot pot places, but it was what it was. We paid for good qualify and fresh food. It was worth it! There is a parking lot behind the restaurant. If there is no parking at the back, there is street parking, so no worries about finding a parking spot. Overall, we had a great experience here tonight. Been here a couple of times now. The service was really good, our server joked with us and recommended the amount of items that would be enough. This isn't all-you-can-eat so be aware of what you order and expect to spend more than other hot pot places. This one is pricier but I find that the quality of the food a bit better. Other places are a set dinner price for all you can eat, this place is per item. Another place on Robson is the same 'per item'. The lamb and beef were fresh, the cow stomach and dumplings were good as well. I think we ordered the lingcod too but my friend ordered the items so I'm not entirely sure, I was just there to eat.. :) The food came out fast and they gave us a couple of side trays to hold the extra dishes. They don't give you a lot of sauces, think we only had the satay and peanut sauce which I didn't use. You would need to ask for other dipping sauces & items. The place on Robson has a whole counter of different sauces, different hot sauces, green onions, cilantro, etc. When those top restaurant reviews come out, Landmark is usually number 1 but I find that some other places are a bit better. The prices would obviously be slightly more expensive because their food quality is generally good. Also, their restaurant is basically right beside the King Edwards Skytrain Station so the location is quite convenient for those who either doesn't want to or can't drive and find parking for this place. And their customer service is not bad at all. Bottom line, their food is generally quite delicious and pretty much fresh. This place is so amazing!! Hands down best hot pot I've ever had. I came here once last year when I visited Vancouver, and let's just say when I came back to Vancouver this year we literally booked an airbnb that was walking distance from here (the fact it's close to a subway station helped :p) so we could come more often! We came back twice in 1 trip! The funny thing is, non-food wise, this place has so many red flags that normally would make me rate it lower, but the food is just so damn good I don't care about any of those things and would eat here forever no matter what (unless their food was literally making me sick)! Let's talk about the food - the ingredients are so, SO fresh, high quality, and delicious. Fatty beef - incredibly marbled and just melts in your mouth. Lamb - mixed in the spicy broth is heaven. Fish tofu - chewy, and great umami. Seafood - all their seafood is live and they'll show you what I looks like before preparing it for you; you can get anything from shrimp, to crab, to lobster, to fish, to geoduck, to abalone. There is an array of very fresh seafood, very signature of an expensive Chinese restaurant. Meat balls and wonton are clearly home made and very fresh. Even the veggies! I had the best spinach of my life and I don't even like spinach lol. Now the broth - there are many, many broths to choose from, and each just has an incredibly distinct flavor. They're not cheap broths mind you (anywhere from $8-$60), but you certainly get what you pay for. We've gotten the Szechuan spicy version which is very potent, spicy, and numbing. It was so good my boyfriend (who's not very spicy tolerant) drank 2 whole spoonful of it because it was so delicious! The parsley and thousand egg broth had such a refreshing, and aromatic flavor I made the most delicious veggies in it. The pork bone soup is meaty and comes with enough food in it to make it its own hot pot! Now the "sketchy" stuff... the servers prefer to speak Chinese so that coupled with a confusing menu makes the first ordering stressful (but after the first time, we learned to study the menu beforehand so we know what to order lol). Reservations don't mean much (at least for 2)... when they get really busy during dinner time, you'll get served when you get served. The prices some times seem like totally pulled out of a hat and have no consistency - lamb is $12, beef can be ~$25, then abalone is like $120/lb (min 1.5 lbs), veggies are HUGE plates for $8, fresh shrimp is $5 per shrimp. And lastly, they vary between having VERY good service to some times ignoring you. But! As I said, given how tasty this place is, none of this matters and I've found ways around it all! read more

This hot pot place is one of the BEST in town. Their quality is absolutely amazing. It is a bit on the pricier side but you are paying for quality here!! The beef slices have amazing marbling and the perfect thickness (I'm drooling just thinking about it). The seafood here is without a doubt fresh af because the shrimp was still moving when it was at our table (all their food is super fresh). I love the fact that they have unique items on their menus like chicken testicles, goose chitterlings(intestines), and geoduck that you don't find at all hotpot restaurant. Also they have really BOMB chicken wings, it's super crispy with a slight bit of sweetness. The chicken wings are a MUST TRY since it's not something people order at a hotpot restaurant. Not to mention they have fresh tofu pudding with brown sugar and ginger syrup (you can ask for savoury additives as well which was super accommodating for my diabetic mother). Service here is outstanding, the servers recommend what's in season, checks up on you, and changes your plates in a timely manner. The parking can be tricky sometimes because it's so busy here, but they have a nice man out back who helps with parking. He also comes in to tell you to move the car if it's blocking someone. Best hot pot in town. I have been going here past 30+ years. Everything about it is great. Excellent beef. Tonight the fish tasted weird and bad. My girl friend and I both felt so. I apologized her for ordering the wrong dish and told her all other times the fish taste great. The owner saw we had one piece not cooked when we were packing other left over and asked why we weren't packing that fish. I explained today the fish was stale and not fresh. To my surprise he immediately took the fish to the kitchen - probably to tell the kitchen or to have someone taste it. He offered and took the $30 fish price off our bill. There's a reason why Landmark Hotpot House has 4.5 stars and it is because it's solid. Quite rare for me to say this but living in So Cali, there are really not too many legit hot pot places like this. The closest ones I've personally experienced are Little Sheep in the Bay - Nor Cal (fist pounds Susy C. for taking me) or Sweet Home Café on the island of Oahu, Hawai'i. Other than that, not too many other hot pot restaurants measure up or maybe I just haven't been exposed to them yet. Ever wanted to know what it is like to drive in Thailand? Well, just hit up Landmark's parking lot to the rear of the restaurant. It's a hot mess and can be nerve wrecking. Good thing they do have an attendant on standby & it sure beats feeding the meters on the street. At times my soccer mom mini van came within inches of a BMW M3 and a MBZ ML350. Good thing I brought them aZn driving skills with me & gracefully avoided any mishaps. We had a big party over 10+ and were lucky enough to be seated in their private room away from the rest of the general population. We even had our own personal waiter who was super friendly and very attentive. The guy was on top of his game. Mix and match the dipping sauces to your preference and be ready to chow down. We had the split soups (forgot what they exactly ordered) which the taste will eventually change as you keep adding different items into it. If you enjoy a little kick in your hot pot, they will happily bring out some fresh chopped chili and you can also ask for fresh and/or fried garlic which I do recommend. The hosts on our table ordered a lot of different items to throw into our melting pot of yumminess. We had everything from a variety of different vegetables to homemade meat balls. The beef was very red and lacked a lot of that white fat you tend to see at lower grade establishments. The taro was a little thick but I would suggest you cooking it a bit longer to soften it up. You can't go wrong with eating hot pot on a chilly night with a big crew. There's always plenty of food and you'll typically walk out feeling quite satisfied and possibly bloated. Two other dishes that deserve their own recognitions would have to be the garlic fried crab as well as the butter crab with noodles. Although you'll have to go hands on and get down and dirty, the messy work is well worth it. Both of these crab dishes were off the hook. The noodles from the butter crab were soft and rich. The crab meat was not all raggedy but fresh and full of vibrant meat as if the crabs were in their prime before meeting their demise. I'm sorry but your sacrifices but nothing went to waste. For dessert (if you even have room left) we were treated to sweet silky tofu with ginger to help soothe our stomachs. Besides the typical hot tea, they also have this cold plum juice. It's kind of weird at first but it slowly grows on you. It's almost as if they are trying to give you these things to help you digest all the food you're about to intake. Landmark Hotpot is as authentic as this place gets. I have had Hotpot all over the US and never had it like this place. I was surprised by this place and thought it was a fun, okay place to go with friends. Came here on a Friday night and the place was packed. We ended up waiting about a half hour, and the place was so busy they ended up putting us in the second room with about 6 other tables since they were so busy. The menu is mostly in Chinese here. I was so used to going to Hotpot places and getting a combination plate where it had some meats, veggies and noodles and you just ordered that plate and that is all you needed. Not this place, you must order each thing individually. We had asked our waiter a few times for help since this was our first time being here and the waiter did not seem interested in helping. Thankfully we asked someone at another table and they were able to tell us more about what we should order. The quality of meats here is really good. You can choose pretty much any meat that you want from the menu. We ended up getting beef slices and chicken slices. We also got noodles, and bock choi. We ended up getting a ham bone soup to cook the food in. The broth was really good and tasted great. The food came out and we also had a few different sauces on the table to use to mix together for dipping sauces. They were really good. We asked our waiter a few times for how long we should cook items and did not really get a response. The overall dinner was pretty expensive. This place is so good that I came here twice in my short 5 day trip in Vancouver! This is legit Hong Kong style hot pot. Why can't we get this in LA??? I love all the varieties in the different soup bases. The first time I came, we did the duo pot with half white peppercorn, pig stomach, and sour vegetable soup and the other half with cilantro and thousand year old egg soup. LOVED the white peppercorn one as the spiciness only got more intense as we kept the pot boiling. The second time, we did one of the special ones - Macau pork bone broth. This was delicious as well!! Now on to all the items available to order! OMG!! So much to choose from, but I can only eat so much. Must orders: -Fish balls. I'm not sure what the fish is called in english, but they only have one type of fish balls. One order is 20 fish balls. But half orders are available as well if you ask the waiter! -Rice wine marinated chicken wings (not listed on menu, but available if asked). The alcohol evaporates after cooking, but you can still taste the light fragrance of the rice wine. -Shrimp. The shrimp they use is called coral shrimp and is native to the area. You can order by the pound or by a specific number. We ordered 6. Each one comes alive and skewered in order for fast cooking. -Pork cheek/neck meat. Pork here is great quality. -Seafood. So fresh. Get the fish, and the shellfish, and everything under the sea!! -Veggies. so much veggies to choose from, and all so fresh. -Egg. If you're cantonese and love dipping your cooked meats in beaten eggs, get the eggs here. I'm not sure where they get their eggs from, but they managed to get eggs with double egg yolks in every single egg. It's not an anomaly, its every single egg! Of course, when you get thirsty from all the eating, they give free sour plum juice! And once you are done, get dessert!! They have some of the best tofu flower dessert I have ever had. If you have a big party, you can order the one that comes in a tub. It serves 8-10 bowls. I tried ordering that but the waiters said it was too much for our small party of 3. A big part of my decision to try it out was based on the fact that it's open late (2am to be exact). When I told the host (who also ended up being my server) that I would be dining alone, he gave me a look of scepticism and asked, "Do you know what hot pot is?" I had no idea... After consulting with the server about how to prepare the food and what type of ingredients I liked (pretty much everything) I was presented a meal that could have easily fed 3 people. What did I get myself into? The pot was divided into 2 sections - one contained a spicy broth and the other was mild. Both of them were seasoned beautifully. I was served scallops, squid, beef, mushrooms, spinach, noodles and cabbage. All of these ingredients looked and tasted fresh and the sauces they served on the side were delicious. Be careful if you have a nut allergy, because one of the sauces contain peanuts. The room is very well-lit, large and spacious with a minimalistic design. At first, I thought it was too cold in there, but once the steam from the boiling pot started to rise, the temperature of the room made perfect sense. (It starts after 10pm) We came in at 9:30pm and they let us order the Late Night Menu early. We ordered: Seafood Congee Satay Beef Clams with Black Bean Sauce Beef w/Vermicelli Noodle Veggie with Ginger Sauce The food is ok, I was more impressed with the friendly and efficient service perform by the wait staff. It's official. I am going to be trekking through the provinces of China in search of the perfect spicy ma-la sauce and hopefully a wise old chef will teach me the Sichuan cooking style (old school Iron Chef Chen Kenichi, where are you?) We got the split hotpot with the spicy ma-la broth and the fish broth, along with three plates of fatty beef slices, shiitake mushrooms, handmade meatballs/fishballs, fatty beef chunks, a plate of vegetables, and noodles made out of fish paste. The beef was amazingly tender and the meatballs/fishballs were the best I've ever had. I've never seen quality of this caliber at a hotpot restaurant, but maybe that's because the restaurants in the DC metropolitan area use frozen meat and lack fresh ingredients. The vegetables and noodles were cooked near the end, when the broth was saturated with flavor from cooking the meat. This provided for a wonderful noodle soup finish to the hotpot meal. Although I prefer the spicy ma-la broth while cooking the meat, the fish broth helped to cleanse the palette at the end of the meal. To top it all off, we got doe-hua (sp fail?), aka silky tofu with ginger syrup. They serve this dessert in a wooden bucket along with a teapot of ginger syrup and a plate of brown sugar. The brown sugar was a welcome surprise as I've never had it with this tofu before, but it was delicious. Service is never really a big deal for me, especially when the food is so good, but I must say that their service is the best I've ever experienced for an Asian hotpot restaurant. read more
