Very vibrantly lit with cool neon signs inside that gave it a funky, fun vibe. The sauce bar isn't extensive (but it's clean) and the bottom part of the menu was super faded. The food selection is good, but not very dietary restriction friendly. No substitutes for anything in the pots, although they are willing to remove things you don't want. Come after 8 pm to add an extra portion of meat for a low price. The upgraded rice with braised pork was delicious. Portion sizes are generous and it's a decent spot for an interesting twist on hot pot. Service was quick and efficient. Paid street parking available.
I'm definitely adding Pot Empire to my list of go-to late-night dining spots. I recommend heading there around 8 pm to take advantage of the discounts on meats. Their portions are really generous, so I opted for the free pork bone chicken soup pot with pork neck (it was absolutely delicious). They're incredibly fast at refilling drinks and have great service. The hanging neon lights make the atmosphere quite unique too.
This just might be my new favourite hot pot restaurant. I loved the combination of foods that came in my Vegetarian set, and was very impressed with the flavor of the broth once I had finished cooking and eating everything on my tray. I've experienced very salty broth at other hot pot restaurants, especially if they refill my pot with more broth instead of plain hot water. Here, they refilled with broth but the soup was still good to drink at the end of evening, and not overly salty. Plus, the meal came with a drink as well as an ice cream cone, and I do love my ice cream! We've been to other hot pot restaurants that are AYCE but I think I prefer having a set meal. It gives me a wide variety of foods, and at the same time it forces me to stop eating whereas with the AYCE hot pots, I have a tendency to overeat and then I just end up feeling ridiculously full to the point where I can't think of anything but my fullness! Service: Good Parking: Free covered parking at the side of the building Location: 4877 Kingsway, Burnaby, BC
I love soupy meals! This individual-style hot pot is perfect for eating out with people who want different ingredients in their pot. The first time I got the 8oz AAA Prime Rib with the original pork bone chicken soup. There was definitely too much meat for me so I ended up giving most of it away. The second time I got the 5oz fatty beef and that was the perfect amount. I also ordered the vegetarian mushroom soup instead and absolutely loved the flavour. It comes with a drink (my default is the yakult green tea), dipping sauce at the sauce station with so many options, veggies, your choice of rice or their special noodles, and ice cream!
Love it when the hotpot spots come with a drink and ice cream!! Got a the Hot Special Pork Bone Chicken Soup Pot + Blade eye slice combo (5oz) + hande-made noodle + milk tea + ice cream all for just $19! They have great portions here, vibrant interior with all of the neon signs, and it was very spacious! I thought the blade eye slices was fresh and the chicken soup was nice and hearty! I was really excited for the noodles since it said hand made noodle on the menu, but I thought the noodles were pretty average and just tasted like udon. I also found the plating situation a little awkward - they placed the individual pots in the middle, and served the meat/veggies/noodles on a big tray right in front of me. Not sure how to optimize it but I found it a little difficult to access the hotpot stove while having the big tray in front. Maybe it'll be a good idea to take everything off the big tray and just have all the plates on the table next time!
I quite like this place and feel it's a great alternative to Gokudo and the like. The pricing is good. They even give you a small bowl of free edamame for a snack. There's a self serve sauce bar for no additional charge! However, my main complaint is that everything feels a little sticky and when we sat down, the chairs and seats feel like it could be cleaner. We had to wipe away a bunch of hairs left behind from prior guests that were semi stuck to the booth seats. Which made me feel a little uneasy during my whole eating experience.
Great intro into Hot Pot if you have never been. Just follow the menu and build your pot with base broth and accompanying ingredient, rice, hand rolled noodles or vermicelli add your protein and veggies and customize! You may develop and enhance your flavour profile with the "sauce station" A drink and ice cream cone is included I'm REALLY love the "neon" market ambiance Service was very attentive. Note you are cooking your pot in front of you so be mindful of young kids Will go again to try different flavours
This place was a disappointment. My sliced lamb was almost grey and has no texture. The fish slices were tiny. Their menu is almost a direct rip off of Gokudo Shabu Shabu but it tastes worse. They added some changes and took menu inspiration from boiling point. I heard down the grapevine that one of the people who started this restaurant worked "undercover" at Gokudo for a few months as a dishwasher and then left and soon after, this place opened. Albeit the plating is nice if that gives you comfort. I will never return and will not recommend.
This popular hotpot place is located on Kingsway where Cattle Cafe used to be. There is a small parking lot around the corner beside CM Chicken. We went early on a weeknight so we didn't need to wait for a table. I heard the line up on weekends is pretty long. They serve individual size hotpot meal. Comparing the price and the food offer, I find Pot Empire offers the best deal compared to Gokudo and Pearl Hot Pot. For $18, you get their chicken and pork bone broth that's already filled with a bunch of food like fish ball, veggies, etc., a plate of meat, small appetizer, a plate of veggie plate, a bowl of rice or noodle, a drink and ice cream! I thought the 5 oz only comes with 6 pieces of meat so I ordered the 8 oz one but I was wrong! There was so much food. There is a sauce bar that you can mix your own sauce as well. The staff comes around often to refill our broth. The only down part is that we felt we were being rushed out. Our empty plates were taken away so fast and when you were almost done they asked if they can turn off the fire to your pot. I think we were in and out in an hour. Overall, Pot Empire is a good place for a quick affordable meal! I highly recommend.
Another addition to the already busy hotpot scene in the Metrotown area. This was a pleasant experience and worth the somewhat long wait. Each customer gets their own personal hotpot bowl. You choose your soup base which is either free or a small cost. You also choose your meat or seafood dish then a drink and if you want rice or noodles. You also get a large bowl of various vegetables to cook. There are many variations so you can try different kinds! The servers were very attentive and explained how everything worked so that was cool. We will definitely come back!
Hot pot is my weakness- and this place fulfills my hot pot cravings! Enjoyed everything I had in my set meal, and I feel like they were the first one to offer ice cream? Idk but I just know that it was goood. We made reservations beforehand as this place gets really busy!
Met up with my friends for the holidays at Pot Empire. Great value and great service. We were amazed at all the food that it comes with. Most of us got the free chicken and pork broth. They have a small sauce bar that was sufficient for me. The combos with a free drink that you can get refills for. At the end of the meal they gave us ice cream that I was too full for! My friend helped me eat mine haha. The neon light signs were so cool and gave off a fun and casual ambiance. The restaurant is located just across from Metrotown which made it convenient. I can see this as a great place to revisit!
We stopped by for dinner. Reservations are highly recommended as the restaurant was packed. For hot pot, there was a number of customizable options for the broth, meat, carbs and drink. I picked the house special broth with fatty short plate slice combo, instant noodles and plum juice. I paid extra to upgrade the noodles and drink. There was a self-service sauce bar. I enjoy the individual sized hot pot and the vegetable selection. The meat was decent quality. They also know people like instant noodles and charged accordingly. There was free soup top up as needed. Service was efficient and we were set up fairly quickly. Staff responded quickly to drop off any extra items we ordered. The sauce bar section could be a bit cleaner is my only complaint. Overall, it was a solid meal and is a good individual hot pot option in the area.
I had been to this restaurant but it was a long time ago. However, i noticed the qualitis have changed. I visited the restaurant the 2nd time last night. We ordered 2 set hotpot dinner. One was the fatty beef with pork bone brother and the other one was the Chicken thigh with pork bone broth. The bone broth was average. Regarding the meat, fatty beef looks average. however, the chicken thigh still had ice when the meat was brought out resulting with a lot of water on the plate soaking the meat. The meat was very soggy and fell apart. Overall, i think the quality and price are quite average. the service was acceptable as well But i have to say their milk tea is good though read more
upon entering, the first thing we noticed was the strong smell of gas. it lingered in the air, sharp and a little unsettling. the restaurant also felt unusually cold, with little ventilation, which made the first few minutes uncomfortable. once the boiling cauldrons started, though, the room slowly warmed up and the chill faded, though a few in our group mentioned mild headaches early on. the space itself was bright and lively, filled with neon light and movement. reflections bounced off the tables and walls, giving the room an almost electric energy. servers moved constantly, weaving between tables, and the place filled up quickly with conversation and steam. menus were large, simple to read, and easy to follow. dinner included a drink, milk tea, yakult tea, or green tea and a dessert choice, either a fudgesicle or a revello style ice cream bar. the sauce station wasn't as extensive, but did have fresh minced garlic, sesame oil, soy sauce, vinegar, chili oil, cilantro, green onions, sesame paste, rows of fresh ingredients and condiments let diners mix their own combinations. the sauces were flavourful, versatile, and worked beautifully for dipping or for stirring into the soup. each broth came with a generous set of ingredients: chicken ball, fish tofu, fish ball, corn, enoki mushroom, fried bean curd skin, lotus root slice, tomato, napa cabbage, quail egg, and a prawn. the bowls provided were small, so we learned to transfer ingredients from the large serving bowl into the pot, and later use that larger bowl for the soup itself. parking was free but limited, tucked under cover next to cm chicken in the newmark building. overall, despite the initial gas smell and cold temperature, i enjoyed the meal and the interactive experience. once the pots started bubbling and the table filled with colour and steam, it became warm, lively, and satisfying, the kind of place where flavour makes up for the flaws. read more
Located on the corner of Kingsway & Nelson - small covered shared parking space on the side of the building - additional street parking nearby and also very transit friendly - Place is filled with eye catching neon light signs - some C-pop playing in the background - most tables are spaced nicely - so you shouldn't have too many problems conversing. There wasn't much service after ordering - but when placing the order the server is very friendly and can help guide you through the ordering process - as it's combo set style hot pot - Broth is pretty tasty - and meat is pretty fresh - portion is not bad for the price - however I am a bigger eater , so I am left a little hungry still afterwards - so you might consider adding some additional protein to your meal - The hot pot scene is getting pretty competitive in the Metrotown area - this one is pretty average - but definitely is a safe bet - if you don't want to go by weight or AYCE style. read more

Came in on a cold Saturday afternoon had to wait around 10 mins for a table for 4, not too bad! I love the variety of soup options. They even offer one basic soup for free which was great. I got the free pork bone soup with a 5oz fatty short plate, sadly the meat actually had some bones in it. Every combo included veggies, pork ball, tofu, shrimp, bean curd and fish tofu. The combo included a drink and a choice of milk tea, yakult green tea or unsweetened green tea. Also a choice of rice/vermicelli/hand made noodles. Whole set came out to be around $20 so I think it's a great price for the amount of food! Definitely coming back to try the other soups! Oh also they have a free sauce bar! read more

Me and My Gf are suckers for Hotpot! So you know we had to try out Pot Empire. At first glance, the atmosphere is awesome. Neon lights surround the space and almost feels like you're in a restaurant somewhere in Asia! Overall an aesthetic place to take some neat pictures. The food was also great. We got the meal set which includes a free drink. I got the Green Tea Yakult which my gf also ended up liking more. The meal set includes Veggies, your choice of meat or seafood and rice or noodles. The pot also already has some treats included such as tofu, shrimp, meatballs for example. So definitely worth the price. The broth option here are far more than the usual self hotpot places. We were pleasantly surprised to see Laksa as it is rare to see at hotpot joints around our area. Service was also on too of their game! They made sure to ask how your meal was, while also asking if you needed assistance or anything else. Would come back. read more

It's hotpot season, where to go? We in Metro Vancouver are so lucky to have an abundance of places! I have been to Pot Empire many times and would recommend to anyone who's having hot pot for the first time or anyone who wants the simplicity of having a set meal. Since it's served individually you have the option of ordering whatever soup you're in the mood for. Pick a soup base, protein or vegetable set, rice or vermicelli I believe... then go to the sauce bar and make your favourite dipping sauce! Don't forget to save room for your complimentary ice-cream! Enjoy! read more
Food quality, taste, and menu options are all pretty much identical to what is offered at Gokudo. There is a self-serve sauce bar which is nice, however the cleanliness of it is a bit questionable. The service could be improved as the staff were not very attentive and were difficult to flag down. I also didn't like how the complimentary ingredients were already in the pot. This caused it to quickly become overcooked and made it difficult to cook other things. Overall, i prefer Gokudo as their service and dish presentation are significantly better. read more
The ordering is very similar to Gokudo Shabu Shabu where each set comes with your choice of soup, meat, noodles, veg bowl, and drink. The set in this pic is the Fatty Short Plate with the sukiyaki soup (+$7 which made the entire set $31). I opted for the free soup (Pork Bone Chicken Soup - third pic). Interesting take but the veg bowl that comes with the sukiyaki soup choice is almost double the size of the veg bowl in for the pork bone chicken soup. The pork bone soup was also quite bland, though it was a pleasant surprise having so many additives in the soup (such as lotus root, pork balls, fish balls etc). Overall, quite trendy with the neon lights, pop music, and presentation, but I will likely hold off on visiting again. This is for the reason that I arrived at 3PM on a weekend and was declined service (even though it was during opening hours and there were several open tables). We weren't given a reason, just that we couldn't be seated. So we asked when the next available seating was and was told it was at 5PM. When we tried to leave our name for the 5PM seating, we were told we couldn't. Coming back the second time around (on 1PM on a different day), we were seated (when it was even busier than the first time around). Service was very slow and inattentive. The menu, at first glance, seems complex, however, luckily having been to Gokudo shabu shabu, I understood the how ordering worked. An explanation would have been nice, or at least an offer of how to order (like they do at Gokudo). We were seated for about 25min before our soup came, and waited another 15min or so before our raw ingredients came (this was after we asked where our food was since we had already received our soup). My burner ran out of butane a couple minutes in and it took a while to try to wave down a server-I eventually got up to go to the back to ask for a new butane tank. Food wise-the pork bone soup was very bland and the veggies were not all that fresh. Even the garlic at the sauce bar did not look fresh. Overall, there are several other hotpot spots in this area. I will likely not return to this spot. read more

Went here on a Tuesday night and it wasn't very busy so our group was seated right away. We were greeted by a bunch of neon signs which remind me of streets in Hong Kong. Since it was our first time coming here, the server explained how the menu works. They also offered to refill our pots and made sure we were enjoying our time. Their prices are reasonable as well. The only downside I have with the food is that the tomato broth was on the sweet side and they have a limited selection of dipping sauce. Overall, I had a good experience and will come back here to try other broths. read more

The service and food was excellent, I haven't had a good hot pot place like this in a while so when I saw pot empire opened I immediately went with friends and family, we needed a table for 7 and the servers were very nice and helpful and set up a table for us right away. The servers explained everything to us since we didn't know what we were doing and the food was great I ordered the meat and seafood combo with the free soup base and it was only $27 I was amazed to see how big the portion was. I will definitely come back again! read more
