I've passed by this place many times and finally gave it a try. It's located on Westminster Hwy, so parking can be busy. There are several one-hour spots, though enforcement is unclear. The restaurant looks clean and simple, with a spacious layout that fits plenty of tables. They don't take reservations, so you need to be there to join the waitlist, but you can call ahead to check wait times. The menu is straightforward, with lunch and dinner combos. Lunch is $19.99 per person, while dinner is $49.99 for two or $69.99 for 3-4 people. You can choose from a variety of broths, some included, others at an extra cost. I ordered the fish maw broth and really enjoyed it. The tomato soup base is also very tasty. Each combo comes with a generous selection of sliced lamb, beef, fish, and chicken. The meat quality is solid, especially the well-marbled beef. There's also a large plate of vegetables and assorted mushrooms. They offer a sauce bar for customization, though sesame sauce must be pre-ordered and is limited. Handmade noodles are included based on group size, and they taste fresh and well-made. The only thing I'm not a fan is the individual burner, they use solidified alcohol, which has a burning smell that's quite strong. It can affect your appetite if you are sensitive to the smell. Overall the combo dinner has a great value, and service was pretty standard. If you have three people the food is enough, however, you might need to order more if you have more guys than girls. We will be back again when we crave for some simple hotpot. The only downside for me was the individual burners, they use solidified alcohol, which gives off a fairly strong smell. Decided to revisit Beijing Hot Pot since we've been reading good things online. The quality of the food has improved since our initial dining experience. Meat and vegetables were very fresh during recent visits, and the broth options we tried had strong flavours unlike some other hot pot restaurants where the broth may seem watered down. Service was fast and friendly before, and it seems even better now. The individual pots have no temperature control due to their light on / off functionality, so the full-blast boil may be a bit overwhelming at times for some people. Cold season calls for hotpot, and my friend had good things to say about this place. According to him (he's originally from a city near Beijing), the main distinction between Southern-style hotpot and Beijing-style hotpot is the sesame sauce that's used for dipping. I tried the spicy and sour broth, which is supposed to be a regional specialty, but I found it a bit bland -- though maybe that's intentional, since in some regions you're not meant to drink the broth. That said, I always love when a place has a sauce bar, and the meat quality here was excellent. My friends and I discovered this place while looking for hot pot in the Richmond Area and it did not disappoint! I knew it was going to be good because the restaurant was pretty crowded at that time. We opted for the 4 person and 2 person dinner special because there was 6 of us. It was very good value as it came with a soup base for each of us and meat, vegetables, fish, noodles, and sauce. They give out a pot of free hot tea. We also ordered the quail eggs and fish tofu puff. The fish tofu puff was a regular tofu puff with a piece of fish inside. Been seeing this place pop up all over IG and decided to check it out on a Friday night with a friend and ordered the $49.99 combo for 2 that includes soup broth, DIY sauce bar, lamb, beef, noodles, luncheon meat, frozen tofu, enoki mushrooms, and napa cabbage, and peanut thick noodles. We also ordered tofu fish puffs and two passionfruit drinks. My friend ordered the pork broth and really enjoyed it. I got the tomato broth and it was lovely. My pot was constantly boiling while it took awhile for my friend's pot to heat up and boil. The only thing about the pots is that you can't control the temperature. The staff does come by with hot water to fill up the pots but it does dilute the flavour of your broth over time. The DIY sauce bar is small but has all the essentials - satay sauce, soya, sesame oil, vinegar, cilantro, chopped up garlic, green onions, chili sauce, and a few more. The 2 person combo plus tofu fish puffs and 2 drinks came out to be $71.50 before tip. We left full and for the quantity and quantity of food, it wasn't bad. We also got an ice cream bar at the end of our meal - yum! For $20 more, the 3 to 4 people dinner combo is a great deal for $69.99 with lots more meats and includes fish slices too. Our food came with beef, lamb, dry noodles, Napa cabbages, lettuce, tofu, lotus root, shrimp, grass carp fish and so on. Condiment section was well organized from sesame oil, soysauce and other things along with pickled cabbage. No drink and dessert were included for our lunch deal. However that wasn't a major turn off for us. $19.99 lunch special was unbeatable deal besides the deal happens on weekend as well. Dinner special costs $49.99 for 2 people. The style (Beijing style?) of hotpot is individual pots that have a stand, and heated by a puck of what looks kind of like camping fuel. With the type of pot they use, you can't adjust the heat so you can't speed up or slow down the boiling, but looks interesting. We went there on a weekend night, managed to snag one of the last tables without having to wait. Ordering is via QR code, although they can bring you a paper menu to look at. There is a small sauce bar. We got their special 3-4 person combo for $69.99. It includes 3 or 4 pots with individual soup bases, and a selection of meats, veggies and stuff to put into the hotpot. Combo also includes 3 or 4 servings of sesame dipping sauce. For the soup base, we tried the clear soup, tomato base, and pepper pork stomach base. Clear soup is very mild. The tomato soup is pretty good. The amount of food was about right for the 3 of us, but probably would need to order more from the menu if we had 4 people or people had bigger appetites. I show it to one of the female worker. That mishap they offered me a plum juice. Do they think this was will helped me wash out the bacteria of my mouth. I'm very dissatisfied with the handling of this unsanitary that this might harm me. Who knows if the paper towel was clean or dirty when it went into the ready to eat food. I got food poisoning, and I did the protocol of calling them to report and the attitude I got was baffling on how they can still operate. As this happened in June, I had a few conversation with a few friends about this. I hope this is a learning opportunity. If one gets food poisoning, the establishment must get the diners info, what they consumed, time etc.. I actually asked them do you want any info from me and what I ate, the person on the phone said "no". They offer a few different broth flavours, though I wish they had the herbal type of broth that I'm used to, but I had their Pork Tripe broth and that was good! It is just orange flavored soda. soooo disappointed. The lam offal soup is more of a stew and is decent - a bit salty but otherwise very flavorful. The fish in the hotpot set was delicious. To be honest I wasn't 100% sure when I was eating which meat but I gathered the lamb might have been the best. I enjoyed my friend's tomato soup base though! Much more flavour. Tofu was also ok, again my friend chose better. The pricing is quite affordable and I believe they are more well known for lamb. The one meter lamb (not pictured) was only $14! A downside is that they only offer 2 types of dips/sauce: sesame sauce and oyster soy sauce for $3 and $5, respectively. They offer individual style hotpot and have 3 flavours of broth that you can choose from: tomato, pork and herb, and sweet and sour soup base. We opted with the tomato and the pork and herb. The tomato soup base was really rich and wasn't too sour or sweet. The pork and herb soup base was more bland and they suggested that this was recommended if you prefer a lighter tasting soup. The meat and vegetables were really fresh. We ordered sliced lamb and sliced fatty beef. The meat looked amazing and the fatty beef slices were nicely marbled. Portion sizes were great for the prices. The lady who served us was really helpful in explaining the menu to us since it was our first time. For a group of 3, we spent around $130. We were definitely expecting to pay a lot more because d how much food we ordered. I actually enjoyed this hotpot place more than Haidilao, cheaper too! If this is how to do business, I bet you gonna be out of business quite soon. I get it there are lots of rich people in Richmond but the price tag you set is completely off with the quantity of quality of the food. Pretty much everything is the multiple of eight, eight pieces of small fish ball, eight pieces of thin lotus root. You even charge $4 for a dish of sauce?! I went there because I just wanna give it a try cuz I love hot pot, but we four people spent almost 200 bucks went to McDonald's after. Not going there any more or recommend anyone to go read more

Excellent!! As a white boy, I had never had this particular style of hot pot and neither had my friggin Chinese girlfriend. It was such a fun experience! Food was delicious, both sesame sauce and soy sauce dip were incredible. Just such an overall great experience! read more
