Strawberry with Panna Cotta, Black Milk Tea with Taro Balls
    Julia W.

Such an adorable little shop in the side of the building. Their interior is so cute and there's a hole in the wall where drinks are delivered out of, which is hilarious. The bottle is honestly cute but not that functionally useful because squeezing it on accident would probably make a mess. But it's cute with the panna cotta! The strawberry flavor wasn't super strong but the topping added a nice layer and texture. I was a big fan of the taro balls in the milk tea. There were a LOT of toppings in the large and the taste was very comforting for some reason. Sweet on their own in the way that carbs tend to be, and the texture was bouncy and chewy. I think those stood out to me the most. Nice to visit and would recommend, but there's better places in terms of price and taste together!

The is yet another boba shop that I've been to. This one is different because I got a bottle. I feel like the bottle makes for a cool resusable bottle. I got the black milk tea with panna cotta which i have never had with milk team. It made for a unique experience. I stirred the pan a cotta with a straw as instructed by the cashier. Overall I enjoyed it and would reco the place for boba enthusiests

    Mochi Cheese Foam Black Tea

Machi Machi has probably become my favorite go to boba spot in Richmond. One of my friends had been raving a particular drink that he had at this particular Jay Chou endorsed chain since his trip to Taiwan last year. That particular drink was the the Mochi Cheese Foam Black Tea. As soon as I landed in Vancouver, I dashed over to Machi Machi and it did not disappoint. The drink is composed of two separate portions with the warm mochi and the drink itself. I viewed the warm mochi as more of a precusor as I dipped it in the salted cheese foam. It was a rather unique combination that blurred the lines between savory and sweet. The residual kinako from the cheese foam, added another dimension of nuttiness to the drink itself and paired well with the saltiness of the cheese foam. Though the drink itself wasn't anything new that I haven't tried before, the addition and mochi and kinako made it quite unique. I also had the opportunity to try some of their fruit drinks including the Strawberry Latte Panna Cotta, Grapefruit slush and Grapefruit Cream Covered Mango Smoothie. All of them are equally delicious, taste very natural, and not overly saccharine.

Have you ever gone into a spot thinking - I'm going to check this place out & just post some pics! My reason - as many of you know - these 'tea' joints ain't my cup of tea & I'm still figuring them out! Machi Machi caught my eye a few weeks ago when I was on Robson Street, downtown Vancouver. That location had just opened up & the lineups are a block long till today, with a 2+ hour wait ... ouch! Anyways my news feed on my cell kept pushing Machi Machi towards me - darn algorithms - & today being super hot I thought I'd give it a try! I'm slowly immersing myself into tea culture & surely I'll come to understand it all one day! However, if the lineup was going to be super long, I was going to bail out. Lucky for me I was #3 in line just before the 12 noon opening. I thought this was going to be another Korean joint, but no it's actually out of Taiwan. Thank you to the kind lady in line who gave me hot tips on what to try. I went with the Fresh Strawberry Latte with Panna Cotta! I was told while ordering that it comes with 'fixed sugar' ... huh!?! My mind was like no no no hit me up with lots of sugar & don't stop! After all my first name is Sugar last name ... Sweet!!! I calmed down & went with exactly how it was - made no additions. One sip & I tell you ... POW POW POW in my mouth! It was a hit! My mouth started singing ... "This must be heaven ..." The strawberry part (top) was fresh & the bottom white part (Panna Cotta) tasted like a kind of porridge or custard but in actual fact it is a sweetened cream. That combination when you mix it up using the straw provided is - magnificent!!! Heads up - the bottle is a bit on the tiny side & I could have probably bought at least 7 bottles ... you know ... to share with friends! Does size really matter? LOL! My dear friends in Merica - you will find this bottle to be more of a - 'kids under 12' - type of offering! So I recommend you buy 2 bottles right off the bat (no relation to Wuhan) - no pun intended. I look forward to going back & trying other flavours. Located in a strip mall close to Aberdeen Station - use your map finder to get here as it could get a bit tricky! Yelpies I openly declare - I love Machi Machi soooooo Machi!!!

Machi Machi is famous because of Jay Chou. Since I haven't been to one in the US, I decided to check it out in Richmond. The store is clean, and the color inside is earth tone, very simple and comfortable. There are 3 seats, more for decoration than for seating. I only saw one little girl sitting on it. I got the Black Milk Tea with Panna Cotta. I adjusted it to less sweet, but can't adjust the ice level. The Panna Cotta made the drink more creamy and dessert-like, but the milk tea tasted watery. I don't think it's worth almost $10. But again, most boba (bubble tea for you Canadians) cost more than $8 now. If I come back, I want to try the Fresh Strawberry Slush and Strawberry Latte with Panna Cotta. In conclusion, you are paying for the look more than the taste. 颜值高,味道还好。

Green Tea Milk Creme Brûlée in Regular Size, Fresh Fruit Four Seasons Spring Tea in Large Size
    Aaron T.

Was able to get in line during the soft opening and it only took 20 to 30 minutes to get in and out with COVID precautions, so props to the team for managing the lineup well and getting people's orders in the lineup. I had the Green Tea Milk w/ Creme Brûlée ($7.3) and the Fresh Fruit Four Seasons Spring Tea ($6.9) and was advised the fruit tea would take 5 mins extra. Both were presented really well with a take out tray and plastic bag, and the fruit tea came with a toothpick to eat the fruit with after. They also have a points system in place for you to collect points towards a free drink. I think the bottle drinks costing $9.20 was a bit much so I opted to try these two regular drinks instead. My personal favourite out of the two was the creme brûlée and i enjoyed it more than i expected! The brûlée and the tea don't mix or combine but it was fine nonetheless and satisfied both cravings. The tea was very flavourful, delicate and pronounced at lite sugar. Would definitely come back for this. The fruit tea i thought was somewhat underwhelming in taste and I didn't like it so much even though it was regular sweetness. My family liked it though and didn't like the creme brûlée surprisingly. I did enjoy the crispy bartlett pears and the passionfruit.

Won't say much more other than I agree with previous reviews that say this place is overhyped, overpriced, and not worth a return visit. No more long line outside the door 4 months after opening but still a small crowd inside on a Saturday afternoon. They had already run out of crême brûlée (this was only ~12:30pm) so I had to go with my second choice of the strawberry panna cotta. I wasn't keen on getting the bottle since it's such a tiny volume, but alas, no alternative. The strawberry slush was nothing special, and I found the panna cotta a bit too rich after the first few sips. And the price? More than $10 after tax is...approaching highway robbery. Will not be coming back considering there are a million other bbt places in that plaza not to mention Richmond.

Finally went to try Machi Machi after the crazy line up went down. @machimachi Strawberry Latte Panna Cotta $9.20 Black Milktea with Panna Cotta $9.20 Black Milktea Crème Brûlée $7.30 Their milk tea panna cotta was super delicious with their strong tea taste and the yummy sweet panna cotta. It was the perfect sweetness together. The strawberry was also very delicious with their fresh strawberries blended into the drink making it so milky smooth and perfect! The creme brulee was also super good. The richness of the drink really gave a strong bold flavour of the tea and creaminess of the drink. We got light sugar and it was perfect sweetness. Honestly it was quite expensive for the drink but I think it's definitely worth giving it a try at least once

Very great service. The girl and guy working on Thursday night, 9/15 were super helpful and nice. Their crème brulee milk tea with boba.... Ahhhhhh. So good. I got 30% sweet so the crème brulee balanced it out. You can taste the sugar crystals in the drink. Very very good. Such a good store too!

I always come to this plaza in Richmond where the bubbletea at Machi Machi hits the perfect balance of variety and flavour. When it comes to prices, I think you're definitely coming to the right shop for a more boojie BBT than your regular fan fare. Nice small shop without too many downsides. I will say however this plaza has TONS of other bubbletea shop competitors, but for the best flavours I do recommend Machi Machi in Richmond.

Kept hearing a lot of hype about this place so of course I had to check it out as it's bubble tea in my backyard. As they recently opened up another location in Richmond, line ups are crazy busy so be prepared to wait. The other option is to go near the end of the day but risk having a lot of flavors sold out. You can create a free account and enter your phone number each time you purchase to collect points to get a free drink. I recommend ordering a bubble tea there and a bottled one to go for later. My go to flavors in the bottles are the fresh strawberry latte with panna cotta, plum jasmine green tea with jello and matcha with panna cotta. To be honest, there are tons of bubble tea places in Richmond so why Machi Machi? Other than the quality and options of flavors they offer, it's their level of customer service as they try to offer their advice and take time to bring the drinks to you and explain how to drink them. Sounds small and stupid, but it goes along way. I would recommend giving them a try but maybe wait until the hype dies down a little to avoid long waits.

The drink we got actually tasted pretty good. Most of their drinks they offer are on the pricier side though. I'll probably only come back if they have a promo going on.

Keeping it short and sweet: Small shop, fast service, and fun options in drink choices. Personally enjoy it more than the Alley which is in the same overall building. Seasonal drinks are adventurous and playful. Panna cotta milk teas were a welcome combo.

Besides scone and tea, you can get regular food here as well such as fries, salt & pepper chicken, and radish cake to name just a few. My friend had a pot of Leisure Fresh Fruit tea and a scone. We'd already had lunch a bit earlier and while my friend had room for a scone, I had zero room in my stomach for any food so I just had a pot of Longan Red Date tea. It was a cold day so a pot of hot tea really hit the spot. I thought it a bit pricy at first, but when the tea came, I saw that the teabags were Fortnum & Mason teabags. That is a very a prestigious company from all the way over in England. When I realized we were drinking Fortnum & Mason tea, all of a sudden $10.25 didn't seem so extravagant any more. My friend said her scone seemed like more of a biscuit than a scone. It came with butter and jam. I think she wished there had been some clotted cream to go with it. I can't say too much about the food as I only had one pot of tea but I was impressed that it was Fortnum & Mason tea, and I very much enjoyed the flavor of the Longan & Red Dates in my tea.

This location is the one I tend to come across the most cause I usually am visiting the mall. The shop sticks out with it's red design. It's just a pretty small boba vendor shop that's kind of hidden away. The menu is basically a screen running a video so that it animates and loops. There's quite of a selection of drinks on it though. Most of them are on the sweeter side with their cookies and cream shake. They've got a lot of crazy drinks going on, but I'm a simple man that likes his simple drinks and lately, I've been very much into the #8 fresh jade lemon green tea. Because the drinks are pretty sweet I usually adjust it to like 75% sweetness. I also adjust the ice level to get more for my buck and ask for less ice. Hard to judge boba shops in my opinion. Especially since any adjustments I make to my drink is on me and not on the shop. Service was quite fine. Only one person was on the job when I was there, but I've seen two people there before. One to make drinks and the other manning the cashier. Overall, I thought my drink turned out fine. Just have to adjust by trial and error to get the right sweetness down for yourself.
