Oh my god, what happened to Chatime?! I've had it plenty of times in Taiwan as well as at this location in the past, but nothing as bad as today's. We got the roasted milk tea and the Thai milk tea. The small one cost $5.25, which was ok. However, the drinks were soooooo watered down. Also, if you've had Thai milk tea before, you'd know what it actually taste like. What was this drink in our hands?!?! Didn't taste like Thai milk tea at all. In fact, it tasted more like water and creamer, with a slight hint of tea. What a waste of money! Even Peanuts, located in Public Market, is much better and much cheaper too. For this kind of quality, you should not be cheating people for their money. I can make my own concoction of creamer + water at home. What's more, they even increased the prices. No way am I coming back here. This is my 5th drinks this week from Chatime. Unlike other boba places, they are really generous in giving you pearls. The pearls are chewy and not mushy. Perhaps their drinks are on the sweeter side or it is just me, not able to handle sweetness to high degree. I always ask for min or no sugar. Came here one night and yes there was a line up. This place is quite busy. To get the drink is a bit slow. Place is loud and not that great to have a conversation. So basically we went in and grabbed our drink and left. Most of the people who come here are all Asians. Yup no surprise especially its in Richmond. I still have to say the Chatime on Broadway is still way better than this location. But of course this Chatime is at a mall and has plenty of free parking space. read more

Pretty good bubble tea, same as what I've tried at Toronto locations. They had a BOGO special during their grand opening; sadly I did not get a chance to go. The last few times I went, it was really hot. They need air conditioning here... it wasn't even that hot outside. Maybe this is a Chatime thing... as I recall the ones in Toronto were also hot and stuffy. I would highly recommend starting a loyalty card with them. You can get a free drink every 10 drinks. Also, if you forget to bring the card, you can just tell them your phone number and they can add the points to that account (a feature that is not available in Toronto!!!!). I noticed small bugs crawling on the side of the counter... ew. Oh well! Service can get a little slow when it gets super busy. Both for the line up, ordering process, and waiting for the drink to be picked up. Drinks are about $4-4.50 for the regular size and about $5ish for a large. Their roasted milk tea with grass jelly is pretty good. I have also tried their Mango QQ (because it comes with both pearls and coconut jelly) and their Oolong tea mousse. Both were good too. The large size is of good value, I think. I always get 30% sweet and no ice. Again, as I mentioned in a previous Chatime review in Toronto, 30% sweet is perfect. I like how they advertise how you can easily customize your drink to whatever you want, meaning if you want less or more ice, kind of topping, more or less sugar/sweetener, and the size of drink. I highly recommend the Thai Milk Tea and Thai Coffee Milk Tea (both with pearls). Very good! The place is also quite big, so it can accommodate a big crowd. I believe this location is under new ownership because interior is renovated. I ordered on the phone 30 min ago and my drinks were not ready when I showed up. People who ordered in store after me got their drinks before I did. The cashier (I'm assuming owner) asked what number I was and apparently no one made my drinks yet. Last time I came, I was told you can download the app online to order. I tried that - apparently my closest location is Kelowna. Contacted Chatime rewards twice weeks ago and no one replies. I tried ordering on their website through Snappy and cannot proceed to checkout. So the App doesn't work and the website doesn't work. Service isn't great nor is the cashier friendly. I went to chatime a lot years ago when I was in high school and I always got the Thai milk tea. I can say it's 100% different. It's definitely 100X better. I like this location cuz it's mostly just busy from neighbourhood foot traffic. They also have plenty of parking unlike the other Richmond location. Highly recommend you ordering online through their app. You can pay and collect points through the app. Like most bubbletea shops, you can choose between two sizes and customize the sugar (0, 30, 50, 80, 100) and ice level. I personally like the brown rice green milk tea and grass jelly roasted milk tea the best. Pro tip: it's cheaper if you order the "grass jelly roasted milk tea" rather than "roasted milk tea WITH grass jelly". So when I heard they were opening up 3 locations in Vancouver all at once I thought to myself "dang they're ambitious, must be selling legit bbt!" I arrived and to my surprise, there wasn't much of a line up which was strange given their BOGO promotion they had. *I do realize I'm writing this post after the promotions over and doesn't really apply, but whatever... Sue me * I decided to get their famous Roasted Milk Tea with grass jelly. Even though I asked for half sugar, I found their drinks to be on the sweeter side. Not sure if they made the order wrong being a new place or what, but overall it was good. The roasted flavours within the drink weren't as pronounced as I would've liked but then again just my personal preference. Whereas the grass jelly was one I haven't had anywhere else. It was VERY gelatinous and didn't have much flavour. Though one may argue, grass jelly typically doesn't, I believe you can taste a distinct difference from a fresh made one as opposed to ones you buy in a can. Came back the day after *yes I like my bbt... Don't judge me* and got a speciality drink the Taiwan Mango QQ strictly because of it's name. It was quite disappointing...to say the least. This is a drink you expect to get from a restaurant with an identify crisis, claiming to serve bubble tea. It was a mix of pearls with coconut jelly sitting in what I can only imagine as mango extract and syrup. It felt like I grew cavities as I drank not, haha. I can honestly say I understand why people are ecstatic over their drinks and what the buzz has been about. They serve a variety number of drinks, smoothies, and lattes, but I still have a soft spot for the drinks served at Shiny Tea; I feel the beverages they serve are more simplistic and refined. The Chatime chain has the best milk tea drinks in the Vancouver area. The interior space is much more open at this location; it's actually inviting to come in and spend some time chatting, reading a book, and maybe even getting a little work done at the large tables in the back. This is a huge contrast with the other Chatime locations that are pretty packed and uncomfortable: they're more takeout or "have a loud conversation" places. This particular location is also in a large suburban strip mall. Plus: plenty of parking. Minus: unless you live in Richmond or happen to be in the area, there's no reason to really be out here. Beware lots of middle and high school kids in the afternoon right after they get off school. Also be ok with tinny-sounding speakers pumping out bad Chinese pop music. Bring headphones if you want to read or work! Pink and purple decor theme can be a bit much, but it fits with the bubble tea kitsch. Again, best milk tea drinks in the area. If you want fruity or creative boba go to Milk & Sugar. If you want authentic Taiwanese tea shop side dishes go to Pearl Castle on Sexsmith. This is the McDonald's of bubble tea. Everything is systemized. You can choose amount of sugar and ice. Cups are then labeled and off they go making it...ever so slowly. (Perhaps that's the only part not like McD's). But people are quite willing to line up, and then wait. I've tried a few, and it's been hit and miss. The first time was a miss. The yogurty drinks taste funny. Nobody in the family liked it. Tried the matcha red bean - that was a hit, although that is one of the more expensive drinks. They are generous with the pearl, or any additions you order. Go for the large for just a bit more money. The small is too small. It's a young crowd, and the place sure is packed for a late evening after dinner time. Will keep trying other flavours. Just hope their service can be friendlier. *3.5 Stars I only ever come to Chatime for their Roasted Milk Tea. It's such a warm and different taste that I cannot get anywhere else. I get mine half sweet and less ice so then the roasted flavour really comes out and the ice doesn't dilute the flavour. They have a lot of different types of bubble tea, slushes, and smoothies as well. I enjoy the fact that you can choose the amount of ice and sweetness for your drink. A little pricier bubble tea than other places (average price $5.50). Service can be slow at times. This location has a really nice seating area, I see a lot of students studying. Plenty of parking. One of my favourite bubble tea shops in all of Vancouver. A ton of choices and consistently good. This location is easy to find with plenty of parking nearby. Highly customizable... I recommend 80% or even 50% sugar for those watching their sugar intake. I use their app to order ahead of time to avoid lineups at the store. My beef with the app is that not all store offerings are reflected in the app and you have to load credits into the app account to pay online. I would prefer using my credit cards to pay online directly. Service is mediocre and sitting area could be cleaner. read more

I used to love this place even if it's always busy. It's long line-up and waiting. I really like their drinks so my friends and I usually line up or call for pick-up. They strongly suggest us to use the online ordering and we did last night. The ordering system is good, you can customize your drink from ice to topping. The problem is their pick-up verifying system. They don't check your order number instead they ask for your name which is written on the receipt sticking outside the bag. If someone tries to steal your drinks, they can easily use your name on the receipt to pick up the drinks. I don't care if they will remake our drinks. The whole point of ordering online is to speed up the process not waiting extra hour for our drinks. The risk of using online order is someone could take your already payed drinks and you have to wait for extra time to get your drinks. read more
