I love this little hole in the wall BBT place. It's been around forever, and has 90's anime posters on the wall, and decks of cards available for a quick round of Big 2 while waiting for your bbt. This place isn't usually my go-to spot in the neighbourhood, but all the other places were closed when I went, so my sister and I decided to give it a try after not having it for many years. When we got to the computer screen to order, we were shocked by the amazing prices! Most of the flavours were $4-5, depending on the flavours and toppings you chose. We both got taro bubble tea with pearls, but once our order was ready, we realized we had actually forgotten to add the pearls to the order, oops! However, the lady ended up giving us a cup of pearls for free, even though we offered to pay, which was very kind of her. I have been a returning customer at this bubble tea place for years now. Overall, the drinks are pretty good but some of their fruit combos are a miss. However, I personally enjoy most of them. My peach ice cream drink with pearls ($5) was good, but the pearls could use a bit more chewiness. My mango with pearls ($4.5) was great. Same critique with the pearls. It should be noted that looking through their menu (about 90 flavours on website and manyyyy more topping choices) and choosing a flavour is a tedious process for me. Takes me about 3 minutes to read through it. The overall price range is around $4-5 but their almost endless variety of toppings will cost extra. Friendly staff will take your order if you want (note that there's also a tablet). My drinks took about 15-20 minutes to be made as it was busy. Could use a refurbishment. I enjoyed a fresh mango strawberry drink along with an ube macapuno (coconut) drink at this place on what was initially a quiet Saturday afternoon. At around $6 per drink, which seems to be the going rate (if not slightly on the lower end these days), coupled with a wide selection of both fresh fruit and traditional teas, you can't go wrong with this place for a sweet little treat. They also let you customize your drink sweetness level, which was a nice touch. A slight downside is that it can get quite warm inside - but that annoyance is quickly remedied with your first sip of a refreshing drink! L&G has been my go to bubble tea joint for almost two decades. I remember when it was located on 41st and Granville but since it relocated on Fraser and 42nd, it is a lot closer to the various places I've lived in the past two decades in South Vancouver. The owner and his wife recognized me today, even though it's been months since I last visited. Every time I go in, they greet me warmly. They are one of the rare mom and pop bbtea places that has barely raised their prices in the past two decades. Their bbtea drinks that used to cost $3.75 from 2 decades ago only cost $4 to $4.50 today. Still a great bang for your buck and the drinks are awesome! Today, I ordered a Japanese green tea ice cream ($4) and added pearls for only $4.50 - such a great deal! I haven't tried their food and always get bbtea drinks to go but they have a life long patron out of me and my family. Am happy to see them open as local small businesses like L&G are the life blood of neighbourhoods in the city. Looking forward to my next visit to L&G already! read more

My favorite is the hot black sesame + red bean drink, since I'm kind of obsessed with anything black sesame and they do a great job of it here. It's also quite affordable; I can get a large cup of it for around $4.50. The cafe is run by an old couple, so it may take a little bit for your drink to get made especially if there are a couple of other customers, but it's worth it. It also looks like they have a pretty extensive and affordable sushi menu, but I haven't tried it yet. During covid times, there is no dine-in. Takeout only. FYI I think the Yelp hours are a bit off. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! There are better places out there. I saw someone accidentally spill their bubble tea while trying to poke a hole in the plastic lid, causing the cup to slip and fall on the floor. The owner only provided tissue paper to clean the mess and didn't offer a replacement. Terrible customer service! How does this place have 4 stars? I only came here because Boba Monster was closed, but can confidently say I won't be returning. First, they tried to charge me extra for my strawberry lychee milk tea. Not happening. I can read the menu price, guys. Second, they made that same drink wrong. They gave me a slush instead of a milk tea. That's okay, people make mistakes. I kindly pointed it out and they agreed to remake it. Finally, they gave me a strawberry lychee SMOOTHIE. Hello? How did they manage to make my drink wrong TWICE? There was not a hint of milk tea in that $4.5 drink. At this point, I was too frustrated to argue with them about it and had to drink that nastiness. (My strawberry smoothies in my Vitamix taste better than this). Then, my cousin ordered a California roll sushi platter and salmon rolls. They failed to tell us they didn't have the ingredients for these and handed us something entirely different. Uhh... At this point, I demanded a refund for the sushi, which they gave me but they didn't refund the tax. Ok then. I like that this is a hood in the wall, no-frills, mom and pop shop. It's also somewhat close to home in one of the most ethnically diverse areas of metro Vancouver. I love the variety of flavours, as well as the option for ginger tea - superfood if you will! Been branching out and trying a couple new BBT spots (for me at least). L&G is a family run one that seems popular with the youngins. Might have to do with the fact that they're open till midnight everyday! We dropped by Thursday evening (around 8:30pm). The inside is pretty ghetto but one table had a deck of (heavily used) playing cards. The menu has fresh fruit slush/smoothies, black/green tea, hot, ice cream and special drinks. There's also a few handwritten additions to the menu. If you're hungry, they've got an interesting mix of Japanese and Chinese eats. Sushi, sashimi, don bowls, noodle soups and rice dishes. Can't say I saw anyone order food while we were there. They also have a TV playing some sort of Asian drama. No sound on which is nice. - Mango strawberry slush ($4.00) - B got hers with mango stars ($0.50). Had a sip of her drink and found the flavours watered down. - Avocado mango slush ($4.00) - I also got mango stars. Love that they don't charge you extra for combining two fruits. Avocado wasn't very creamy and the drink overall was a bit watered down. Will have to try the smoothie version next time as I don't usually get this flavour combo as a slush. - Taro ($3.75) - B's friend got a fresh taro. Think this is her usual. By far the best bubble tea I've had. Ever since moving away to NYC, I miss this bubble tea spot and make sure I visit EVERY TIME I'm in town. This is a hidden little gem on Fraser that you might miss passing by. The exterior is nothing eye catching, but this place worth checking out. The interior is run down, but is family owned and has a homey feel. The menu is taped on the walls and a little odd, but they also have anime posters. They also serve sushi and Chinese food. I didn't try their food, but a beef noodle is only $6.99 and BBQ rice is $4.99! This place is run by a friendly elderly couple. They welcomed us with a smile and initiated conversation while we waited for our drinks. They weren't too fluent in English, but made an effort to speak it when we ordered. What I like about this place is there is a lot of seating and they have playing cards so it is a great place for group gatherings or hangouts. Their drinks are all made with real ingredients. We ordered a honey green tea and dragon fruit slush. You can really taste the honey and the difference between other bubble tea places that add syrup. The fruit slush is made with real fruit. Just look at the photo and see how dark and vibrant the colour is. The pearls are a little soft for what I like, but each drink was only $4.00. This is my second time coming to this place because it is cheap, service is friendly, and drinks are made with fresh ingredients with no added preservatives. read more

It's been a few years since I've walked into L&G, and it feels like nothing has changed. No, really, nothing has changed. The bbt choices are the same, the prices, the owners and the decor. I decided to get bbt from L&G Bubble Tea instead of an established chain such as Chatime or Gong cha since I like to support local, small business whenever I can. This place is family run by an old couple - service can be a bit slow at time. Food including sushi and HK style dishes are offered on the menu as well as bbt. The restaurant has small table games (e.g. cards, board games, and books) to entertain guests. Free parking is in the back with paid street parking in the front. The red bean slush with pearls that I got was also on par with the quality I have come to expect from big chains but at a cheaper price so I will definitely be back to L&G in the future. read more

I understand taro is not as easy to blend than real fruits, but don't put it under the fresh fruit menu if you're not gonna use the actual root. This place is fantastic because they served up the best taro bubble tea I ever had (and for only $3, nonetheless)!!! Other pluses: + They only use fresh fruit, no powders! + Daily specials: only $3 for selected flavors (tapioca included!) + Friendly owner (him and his wife were the only ones working there when we arrived right before closing (midnight) + Easy street parking (during late night), and others report they have a few parking spots in the back lot, too + They have a MASSIVE selection of food: sushi, chinese food, noodle soups, etc. I tried the beef noodle soup and found it pretty decent for 4th meal. My Taiwanese friend said the beef noodle soup is actually pretty close to what you'd get on the street in Taiwan + Free Wi-Fi Others have mentioned it looks a little run-down but I thought it was pretty clean and had absolutely no problem with the ambiance (some anime posters on the walls, asian channel on the TV, and the rest of the wall space filled with food/drink menus). One of the better bubble tea (bbt) places in town. They use real fruit in their bbt. I usually order a bbt with fruit flavours. Each time I do, I can taste the real fruit. I'm pretty sure the staff tries not to use powder mixes for the bbt. There is also food you can order too. I order their sushi, I drank my bbt and watch the guy make my sushi. Thanks to the same owners, after all the years, trying their best to keep prices down, and thanks to the same quality in bubbles and fresh fruit flavours, I'm still a fan of L&G. However, there needs to be an overhaul and implementation of an order and delivery system that works and for some consideration to customer comfort. It's time for some improvement. Visiting on a hot summer night, it was like entering a sauna. Which may be nice if I were at the gym, post-workout... But otherwise, bleh! I noticed the BC Hydro sticker on the window outside stating that this business is "eco-friendly." Well, if that means skimping out on some occasional a/c for the sanity of customers, then I think L&G needs to get "eco-nasty." Otherwise, it's nasty. The sweltering heat seemed to be getting not only on the customers' nerves, but on the owners' as well. Drinks were getting mixed up (cold instead of hot, for example) and delayed (we waited about 45 minutes for our drinks; wait -- FORTY-FIVE MINUTES???). Once ready, the soft-spoken girl at the till had no way to remember who ordered what, and her voice wasn't loud enough to call out the flavors in any useful way. Obviously, most people were sitting down at their tables, since nobody wants to stand by the counter for FORTY-FIVE MINUTES. As for the drinks themselves, well, they were delicious. This is slightly cheaper than the other bubble tea places. I found the slush to be not too icy and was just sweet enough. The inside of the shop looks like its been put together by 3 year olds! ha ha, it has missed painting spots on the wall, bad looking wood panelling that hasn't been installed properly and ...sigh.. It was 11:58pm and scheduled to close at midnight so we knew there was a chance we wouldn't be served, but even at 2 minutes til closing, the owner was kind enough to let us order and made us fantastic drinks! A banana ice cream milk tea with boba and then a mixed lychee / guava slush with lychee jelly - both were excellent, well priced, and we were very happy. Uncle (the owner) was very talkative and funny. It was a lovely warm place to go at night. When I was in bad mood, Uncle would always cheer me up. After they moved, I only visited once. It was late at night and we were up on Main having dinner and contemplating what to do afterward. We didn't want dessert at the restaurant we were at but felt like something sweet so we decided on bubble tea. My usual go-to spot is Dragon Ball, but we decided to try something new. L & G has an impressive rating on Yelp so we decided to give it a shot. When you first walk in, you feel like you are visting a friend's house. A friend down on their luck. The decor is a bit wacky -- mismatched furniture including a glass topped table with a display shelf underneath, a mounted TV plays an Asian soap opera, and the walls are plastered with a collage of the menu, food photos, and anime posters. Their menu is a bit schizophrenic. Yes, they have bubble tea but they also serve other food like noodles, dumplings and even sushi. It seemed bizarre to have so many things on offer but I decided this was part of our adventure and reminded myself that looks can sometimes be deceiving. Maybe amazing bubble tea awaits?! Unfortunately, this was one of the slowest operations I have experienced. Three people were waiting for their orders when we arrived, and it took a long time for their orders to come out. My friend impulsively ordered dumplings for 2nd dinner but it took them a good 25 mins before informing her they ran out of dumplings (say what?). When our bubble tea finally arrived, I was disappointing at how sweet it was. I think the only complimentary thing I can say about it is that it was on a specials list so I only paid $2 total. Ok, let's try L&G cuz I'm sure they're doing something right since they're still in business. It was a Friday night after dinner and I found parking on the street. From the outside, it looks like a run down Chinese restaurant. I went in and no one is inside. I was a lil hesitant to order anything until I was greeted by a mom and pop. Ok, I'll give them a chance. I ordered today's special which was taro powder milk tea w pearls. The taste met my expectations , nothing can go wrong cuz it's just water and powder. The pearls were a lil too soft but I can't complain, I paid $3 inc tax! I see that they also serve food but I'm a lil scared to try. One of my favorite bubble tea places in vancouver hands down. The have a $3 special board at the counter everyday which consists of around 5-8 choices, oh and that INCLUDES PEARLS (50 cents extra is you want jellies instead) The specials are usually really good and everytime i've been there has always been milk tea on it. The regular prices are actually very good too compared to what you're use to around town. They also have tons of asian food like : sushi, teriyaki, won ton, noodles etc. I have only has their dynamite roll and california roll (food wise) and they have always been yummy. I'd say it's a bit off putting at first because it's not your everyday typical bubble tea shop but they do a really good job, if you're around the are you should try it. It's at the very tip of the Fraser street strip so you can find street parking pretty easily compared to further down where the madness is! read more
