Passionfruit Shaken Tea with Crystal Pearls ($7.50)
    Aerica W.

I tried Cha Yuen and ordered the Lemon Shaken Tea ($6.50), Lemon Passionfruit Shaken Tea with Crystal Pearls ($7.50), and an Original Bubble Waffle ($5.50). Prices felt pretty reasonable. Both lemon drinks were very sour, though I think that's because I asked for half-sweet (how I usually order my bubble tea/fruit teas), so that's on me. The crystal pearls were good! The bubble waffle, however, was disappointing. It didn't have any 'eggy' taste, pretty much no flavour at all overall. It was also quite dense and hard...looked nice visually though. One downside to note: When I visited, there were lots of dead bugs on the window ledge near the high-chair seating (about 3-4 seats total). Since it's a really small shop, I'd recommend grabbing your drinks to go, if you do visit. The location is convenient, right by Yaletown-Roundhouse SkyTrain station.

We stopped by Cha Yuan 茶園 in Yaletown and had a delicious treat! Cha Yuan uses real fruit and fresh ingredients, and we can taste the quality of their teas. The shop is bright, clean, and cozy--perfect for a quick treat or relaxing break. The staff was super welcoming and helpful, which made the experience even better. Here's what we tried: Mango Slush Cheese Foam (with tapioca pearls)--So refreshing! The mango flavour was fruity and real, not artificial. The cheese foam on top was creamy and smooth, and the tapioca pearls were nice and chewy. Great combo! Brown Sugar Pearl Latte (with grass jelly)--We switched the pearls for their housemade grass jelly and loved it. The latter was rich but not too sweet, and it's even caffeine-free, which is awesome if you're avoiding caffeine. Bubble Waffle with Mochi--This was a fun surprise! Crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, with soft mochi in each bite, it's perfect for a light dessert! We look forward to returning to try their Avocado Cheese Foam series next! Drink: 4/5 Should Try! Service: 5/5 Kids: 4/5 Yay! (Most people love bubble waffles and bubble drinks, especially kids). Price: Range between $6-$8 for each drink Presentation: 2/5 Parking: Paid street parking nearby Tips: * offers oat milk option (no extra charge!) * has a good menu selection. * brews real tea leaves. * accepts large corporate or family party orders. Would I Return: Yes ‍

    Pearl milk tea

Visited Cha Yuan on a Sunday afternoon and it was fairly busy. I ordered the pearl milk tea as it's my go to drink at bubble tea shops and it was also labeled as a top drink. The drink was prepared pretty quickly, within 5 minutes, and was pretty decent. The tea flavour was above average, but not the strongest tea flavour I had from a bubble tea shop. The tapioca was also average; chewy, but lacked a subtle sweetness that I enjoy when chewing tapioca pearls. I ordered the drink with less ice and 30% sugar, so that the drink would not be too sweet or too watered down near the end of the drink. I would order again if I was in the area, and maybe try their fruit teas or bubble waffle.

Went to the yellow location and had the mango slush with cheese from and tapioca pearl as well as a bubble waffle with mochi. It was delicious.

I got a roasted oolong milk tea with pearls and a mochi bubble waffle. It was near closing time so they had just enough pearls for my drink. Overall I thought the bubble tea was only okay and thought it didn't have enough tea flavour and thought it was a bit too watered down. The bubble waffle on the other hand was delicious and was hot and fresh and the mochi bits just added to it.

This small bubble tea shop sells different bubble teas, bubble waffles, and gelato. There was counter seating with 4 stools, and there are 2 regular chairs. We ordered the Hojicha Milk Tea ($6.50). It tasted good. It included crystal jelly, which was also tasty. One wall has a mural with the label "Welcome to the Tea Garden - Mural by: SyloArts". There is no free WiFi, but you can sign into the Telus WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There are no customer washrooms. There is paid neighbourhood parking. Review 2023-175

    Strawberry Green Tea

I have tried Cha Yuan two times so far and I feel that the drinks are a hit or miss. The strawberry green tea was sweet, tangy and refreshing. I felt that the matcha latte is a miss. The matcha didn't taste like a high quality ceremonial matcha. Other than that, service was super quick.

Small boba shop that also serves ice cream. The drink was good but the boba not so much. Way too soft with no bite to it. For that reason, I'd go likely try another place for my boba. Quality boba pearls is important to me.

Matcha Latte ($6.50) with Coffee Jelly (+$0.75) and Oat Milk
    Michelle W.

Cha Yuan is my cup of (bubble) tea! It's a little shop with a wide selection of drinks (milk teas, lattes, fruit teas, slushes, and brewed teas), as well as bubble waffles and gelatos. The tea flavour is quite delicate, with options to substitute the milk and adjust the ice and sugar levels for certain drinks. Those who are lactose intolerant can rejoice because the oat milk substitution is free! Further, some drinks are caffeine free and available hot. It looks like there is only one size for drinks though. If you do opt for pearls, I find that Cha Yuan's have a nice chew/QQ to them. So far, I've only tried the milk teas and lattes, with my favourites being Matcha Latte ($6.50) with Coffee Jelly (+$0.75), Hojicha Milk Tea ($6) with Grass Jelly (+$0.75), and Brown Sugar Pearl Latte ($6), all substituted with oat milk. Cha Yuan is more of a grab and go, but there is some bar seating by the window should you choose to stay longer. Usually, there is only one staff member - at times, two - attending to both the till and the drinks, so there may be a slight wait. That said, the service is great, as is the quality of the drinks. Get a stamp card because you will be back for more!

The bubble tea was delicious. Pearls were soft and chewy. We ordered the Brown Sugar Pearl Latte and the Roasted Oolong milk tea with Lychee Jelly. The staff were nice and very welcoming, and the mural gave off cozy vibes.

The bubble waffle seemed a little small, but it was good. They close kinda early at 7pm

Grapefruit green tea with boba, passion fruit green tea
    Jackie W.

We went in the early afternoon and they were already sold out of everything mango so I opted for the grapefruit. I got the grapefruit green tea, 25% sweet, with boba. I liked that I got to taste the tea flavor and that there was bits of fresh grapefruit pulp. The boba was a little too soft, but overall I still enjoyed my drink.

Selections are decent. however the menu is very confusing as they have a posted menu online, a digital menu via QR code and some posted menus. Unfortunately the menus were not in sync. My friend saw a couple of things she wanted to try from the online menu and was told they do not have those items. There are combo on the spot which are not their online menu and the digital menu. We ordered the chicken panini, a small mango bingsu and an order of tue mochi bubble waffle and taro milk tea. The food is very good. there is decent amount of ingredients in the chicken panini (which i forgot to take a picture of). The mochi bubble waffle was decent and i liked the taro milk tea as well. The bingsu was very well made but the price is a bit on the high end given the size. Overall service was good too

A fun hole in the wall dessert spot x flower shop!…read more Essentially there's a dessert counter in a shared space with a flower shop operated by the one owner - super adorbable concept, the boss was so nice to introduce his menu to us as well! Located on the same block as quite a few other popular HK dessert spots, I more inclined to go to Rose Cafe because it's quieter and a more comfortable environment to relax and sit around in. The boss mentioned they can make anything for us (!) including ginger milk, the sago desserts and that they event have the pistachio paste (yum!). For a quick dessert run - I opted for the small mango shaved iced, it's served with nice and ripe mango chunks, and a fresh mango shaved ice base. For just about $10 it's worth the dessert stop! They had a nice menu of several classic HK items - from deep fried chicken wings, to bubble waffles to pearl based drinks that only HK locals would order. Worth a try if and when you're in the Nanaimo / Kingsway area! Also (!) - very reasonably priced flowers and potted plants!!!

I personally tried the cheese foam black tea with mochi and golden pearls which costed close to 10CAD. The cheese foam was slightly salty and pretty creamy, and the taste is much more pronounced when you dip the plain mochi into the drink. The mochi itself was slightly soft though a bit uneven in texture as some parts are chewy and some parts are already a little bit dry. I do like they nicely wrapped the mochi in a plastic bag to preserve the moisture, though I ended up trying it out immediately to get the maximum freshness. The tea itself is flavorful and not too sweet, which is what I intended because I opted for light sugar (30%). The golden pearls were pretty chewy and are the right preferred texture. While I liked the general quality of the drinks, like other reviews mentioned, the price of the drinks are a bit on the higher end but the quality did not really scale up compared to a good boba spot.
