When I'm in the area and craving bubble tea, I find my way back here. Being next to a transit hub, this spot can get busy. Luckily for me, it was not on this rainy day, and on this particular visit, I was determined to finally try the cheese coin which I sadly forgot to get last time. As soon as I opened the door, I was hit with the pleasant aroma of bubble waffles and bubble tea. To my delight, Gongcha offers a Cheese Coin & Royal Milk Tea Combo $13.22 (upgraded to a L drink). The drink (3.5/5) was milder than I had hoped for, however the pearls were nice and chewy. I forgot they still use the 'old' big L cups - not the tall skinny ones. In any case, I enjoyed the extra liquid. The cheese coin was fresh made oh so delicious. Buttery, hot and cheesey (4.5/5). Would recommend and reorder. Staff are always friendly and patient. We tried several drinks with various toppings. Their menu is massive, plus a ton of limited time special menus. It actually made it harder to order and sift through all the options. Drinks i would say are a solid 3/5. Maybe 3.5/5. Not quite 4/5. We tried some food items too: red bean bubble waffle - undercooked, not crispy enough, some raw dough in the middle in some parts. 2/5. corn dog - this is just waffle batter wrapped around your filling of choice (sausage +/- cheese stick). 2/5. Location is clean enough, small. Staff barely speak english but passable and you can generally get your order through. There is free street parking. We ended up at the Renfrew location of Gong Cha for dessert. - Brown Sugar Pearl Milk Tea - Brown Sugar Creme Brulee Smoothie - Honey Strawberry Green Tea. Brown Sugar Pearl Milk Tea: Our Munchkin is really into Brown Sugar Pearls these days, and this was no exception to the rule. She was a happy camper with this drink. Brown Sugar Creme Brulee Smoothie: I think they put some creme brulee type of custard into this drink as the "Creme Brulee" element. I mixed it all together with my straw and it was delicious but I honestly can't say that it reminded me of Creme Brulee. It just tasted like a yummy Brown Sugar drink to me. Honey Strawberry Green Tea: My husband had this drink and I think it was my favourite out of the 3 drinks we ordered. The Strawberry flavor was quite pronounced and since there was no milk or cream in it, it was lighter on the stomach. My five star review of the week for boba drinks goes to Gong Cha Renfrew! Loved their brown sugar pearls for its taste and texture! I have always enjoyed Gong cha's original egg waffle and find their drinks with oolong tea base satisfying. Some of their drinks such as smoothies are too sweet for me and I must opt for no sugar or 30% sugar is my max sweetness level. Haven't had boba or pearls in ages and was in the mood for brown sugar pearls. Thus, I ordered their #1 best seller drink - Brown Sugar Pearls with Oreo milk foam in Oolong tea. We also ordered the Royal Milk Tea combo with original flavored egg waffle and two beef corn dogs plus a Strawberry smoothie with creme brûlée to go. Trying their corn dog for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the batter texture and the taste remind me of their egg waffle. They offer ketchup or mustard as sauce dip. I may have enjoyed their corn dog lots because I spiced it up with my own personal chili sauce. This location is conveniently located next to Renfrew skytrain station. There's also lots of free parking available on the street for 2 hours. Ambiance is relaxing and cozy. They offer outlets by the small tables for two, a thoughtful gesture for allowing people to plug in their laptops. There's also a big table for 6 in the center with couple tables for four by the door. Overall, a nice quiet location to grab a snack, load up some caffeine, hang out or to work solo and chill. Tried their grapefruit green tea, caramel milk tea, and creamy passionfruit smoothie and it was all so delicious! I usually prefer milk teas, but I reallly enjoyed the creamy passionfruit smoothie! It tasted amazing with the pearls! I found the grapefruit green tea a little sour, but I also did ask for 50%, so will likely up the sugar next time! Overall, solid spot for bubble tea! read more

Been really into teas lately and stumbled upon this location randomly. I ordered passion fruit green tea qq (coconut jelly and pearls) and added basil seeds. My bf ordered peach green tea with mango pearls and coconut jelly. We both ordered half sweet with less ice. His was slightly sweeter due to the mango star jelly. We also saw these amazing pearl bubble waffles that we just had to try. We ordered one pearl bubble waffle and one red bean one. Red bean was a little dry and pearls waffles is a must. We also tried matcha with pearls and meh, original pearls with waffle is best. Unsure if they have a manual loyalty card, but I think their app has one but it has very bad reviews read more

Wow super busy with lots of people of the first three days. They are doing a promotion. Buy one get one free. I got the milk tea with grass jelly and it was expected. I had it before at other Gong Cha location. Delicious drink. Note that during the promotion time, it takes them 30 mins to make the drink. read more

Bubble waffle ice cream! For $10 Interesting concept, it's hot bubble waffle and cold Ice cream. I think their ice cream is quite creamy so it melted at the bottom and made the bubble waffle soggy! if only they had a way to separate it more. I feel the ice cream flavours are quite light I got to mix the matcha with earl grey milk tea for the waffle Ice cream and the matcha ice cream by itself in a cup for $5 already the matcha seems to melt fast. read more

I swear there's an actual bubble tea mafia or something in Vancouver. I've always complained about how there isn't a convenient location near my home. Gongcha is now the 2nd bubble tea shop to open near me. I await for the day a shop opens next to my home but for now this is great. Previously with Gongcha I tried their fancy products and wasn't impressed. I went with just a basic milk tea recently. It was honestly one of the better milk teas I've had recently. Pearls were very good as well and just hit the spot with how the milk tea was. They also did a good job advertising other drinks on their menu and I'd be willing to come back and splurge on the menu. Good spot to hang out and study as well. Nice to see Gongcha taking advantage of a location lacking in bubble tea options and offering a good product. Gong Cha Renfrew is one of the newest Gong cha locations. It's located behind Renfrew skytrain station just along Renfrew Street on the bottom floor of an office building. We almost missed it a few times because we didn't realize it wasn't a stand alone store-front. When you walk into the cafe, you're greeted with a large cafe space and the drink making area. There is a large glass surrounding the area so you can watch your drinks and snacks get created right before you! We tried the purple yam pudding drink. This was a drink I was looking forward to trying because it sounded so delicious! Unfortunately, it fell short of our expectations. The purple yam had an earthiness that reminded us of taro. With that being said, the powder was very grainy and you could taste the powdery-ness of it in the drink. The pudding was soft but parts of it had a firmer texture which made it unenjoyable. read more

Their Brown Sugar Pearl Milk Tea was a disappointment. I'm not sure if it was a one off, but it didn't taste like brown sugar or milk tea. Rather, it had a strong herbal aftertaste. Their QQ Passion Green Tea (passion fruit green tea with pearls and coconut jelly) was interesting and refreshing as its name would suggest, but I was not a huge fan of crunching down on a hard passion fruit seed in the middle of merrily chewing my tapioca pearls. These death seeds don't add anything to the enjoyment of the beverage, but I think their addition was meant to indicate that "fresh passion fruit" was used in the making of this handcrafted beverage. read more
