Strawberry banana milk slush with agar jelly and grass jelly ($6) - so happy they're open on holidays
    Ada G.

I felt very fortunate this place was open on New Years day, when I had an intense craving for bubble tea. This was my first time trying Bubble Bear Cafe, and I'm so glad I did! The cashier at the front was very friendly, and let me ask my questions patiently. I finally decided on the strawberry banana fresh fruit milk slush with agar jelly and grass jelly. I like that they use fresh fruit (the banana), and that you can adjust the sugar level to your taste. I generally find bubble tea to be too sweet, so I asked for 30% normal sweetness and it was perfect. The final product cost about $6, which is pretty typical for bubble tea. I was also impressed they had agar jelly here, which has no calories and has a texture similar to that of pearls and aloe jelly. Really loved everything about my experience here, and I got a stamp card for my next visit! Will definitely be back.

    Ginger dessert tofu dink

I had the ginger dessert tofu drink and it was alright. It was ginger tea with a dessert tofu topping. I found the drink to be a bit too sweet for my liking so I would probably order a milk tea instead next time.

3.5 stars. Very similar to Mr. Mustache with the same plastic designs and similar frothy original milk tea made with shakers. Prices are cheaper here and they have some cooked snacks as well (didn't try). Milk tea diluted in flavour. Pearls were on point. Owners very friendly.

Marpole is bustling with dessert and drink places these days. How does Bubble Bear Cafe compare? Depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking for your standard, no-frills bubble tea at a very reasonable price, this is the place! It reminds me of the bbt shops I'd go to in my teens, before all the "fancier"/chain bbt joints started opening up with their fancy sea salt foam macchiatos and etc. I like this place because it's simple, clean, has fast service+nice owners who actually smile at you, and - most importantly - doesn't break the bank. Most of the drinks are $3.75-4.75 (+0.50 for pearls, etc). They also have a stamp card for a free 10th drink.

After a day of swimming with the kids at Aquamania in Richmond, they were hankering for some bubble tea on the way back to our friends house. We knew Granville had a decent selection and they had settled on Mr. Moustache. Bad news for MM, but Good for us though that because it was the Monday following a Stat Holiday, they were closed and we discoverd Bubble Bear Cafe! Its just 2 doors down from Mr. Moustache and we were greeted by the owners? She was super nice and patient as my kids were almost overwhelmed by the menu (remember we're from Calgary so this list is huge by our standards!). We settled on the "boring" watermelon slush X2, mango slush and a "out there" coconut milk tea :) Kids were hungry and we also ordered up their shrimp wonton with chili sauce. All the food and drinks arrived pretty promptly? 8 minutes maybe? but it was later in the evening, but there were people wandering in an out after us. Drinks: 2 thumbs up from my kids. My son inhaled the milk tea within minutes, while my daughter took the time to appreciate the flavors of the mango and my watermelon slush. Food: Wontons were excellent. A bit on the smaller side but definitely full of flavor! The chili oil (Homemade?) was amazing. It had a right amount of heat to it and had some substance to it and not just oil with a bunch of chili peppers in it Verdict: my kids want to go back today and im happy to oblige! And I forgot they have a stamp card so every 10th drink is free.

Delicious taro slush with pearls! Really hit the spot

Had a great taro slush drink that really hit the spot on a hot sunny day! I recommend giving it a try as you won't be disappointed.

The owner was really nice. I asked about the different teas available for the milk caps. He explained the the difference between each tea based on the lightness and how strong it is. I was curious about the old fashion and he told me it's a Taiwanese breakfast tea which is of medium taste. I decided to give it a try and it amazed me. No fancy cups but the tea tasted good and that's all that matters.

Their Earl grey milk capped tea is my favorite.

Have tried 4 of their milk capped tea in a week. I'm hooked. They have really good quality tea. If you like real tea flavor, give this place a try. One of the best tea I've had outside of Taiwan. Friendly owners. Highly recommended.

Poor quality drink with little ingredients and too much water. Competitors nearby have much better and quality drinks.

My new favorite bubble tea place. Great drink with good value. They have lots of drink choices. Must try Matcha Green Tea w/ red bean slush.

Selections are decent. however the menu is very confusing as they have a posted menu online, a digital menu via QR code and some posted menus. Unfortunately the menus were not in sync. My friend saw a couple of things she wanted to try from the online menu and was told they do not have those items. There are combo on the spot which are not their online menu and the digital menu. We ordered the chicken panini, a small mango bingsu and an order of tue mochi bubble waffle and taro milk tea. The food is very good. there is decent amount of ingredients in the chicken panini (which i forgot to take a picture of). The mochi bubble waffle was decent and i liked the taro milk tea as well. The bingsu was very well made but the price is a bit on the high end given the size. Overall service was good too

A fun hole in the wall dessert spot x flower shop!…read more Essentially there's a dessert counter in a shared space with a flower shop operated by the one owner - super adorbable concept, the boss was so nice to introduce his menu to us as well! Located on the same block as quite a few other popular HK dessert spots, I more inclined to go to Rose Cafe because it's quieter and a more comfortable environment to relax and sit around in. The boss mentioned they can make anything for us (!) including ginger milk, the sago desserts and that they event have the pistachio paste (yum!). For a quick dessert run - I opted for the small mango shaved iced, it's served with nice and ripe mango chunks, and a fresh mango shaved ice base. For just about $10 it's worth the dessert stop! They had a nice menu of several classic HK items - from deep fried chicken wings, to bubble waffles to pearl based drinks that only HK locals would order. Worth a try if and when you're in the Nanaimo / Kingsway area! Also (!) - very reasonably priced flowers and potted plants!!!

I personally tried the cheese foam black tea with mochi and golden pearls which costed close to 10CAD. The cheese foam was slightly salty and pretty creamy, and the taste is much more pronounced when you dip the plain mochi into the drink. The mochi itself was slightly soft though a bit uneven in texture as some parts are chewy and some parts are already a little bit dry. I do like they nicely wrapped the mochi in a plastic bag to preserve the moisture, though I ended up trying it out immediately to get the maximum freshness. The tea itself is flavorful and not too sweet, which is what I intended because I opted for light sugar (30%). The golden pearls were pretty chewy and are the right preferred texture. While I liked the general quality of the drinks, like other reviews mentioned, the price of the drinks are a bit on the higher end but the quality did not really scale up compared to a good boba spot.
