Came here after securing a reservation (which is a must for weekends). Well worth it! Todd was our server and he was great! Hilarious and knowledgeable. I had the ribeye rare and was a great choice. You just can't go wrong with this place! Just had another fabulous dinner here with friends. Standouts: Halibut special, rack of lamb, chicken piccata all perfectly cooked, so delicious and flavorful. Great wedge salad. Cocktails were very nice. So nice some of us had seconds. What a great Happy Hour!! The dinner menu is varied, large with a price point around $35. There is a rib eye for $99! We opted for snacks and dinner at home! But back to Happy Hour! We had $5 truffle fries, $6 chicken satay and $5 steak quesadilla and all three were great! The truffle fries were garlicky. The chicken satay had 3 white meat skewers, not large. The spicy peanut sauce served with them was super tasty and probably my favorite item! The steak quesadilla was made on corn tortillas. This will be picky but the steak was more cubed than sliced and not to my liking. I picked most of my steak off and gave it to the hubby who thought it was good! The drink specials are pretty great too. $5 for a fresh squeezed greyhound! I got the fresh squeezed margarita for $5 and it was very tasty and didn't taste of a cheap mix. Lots more drink specials that are very reasonable for the downtown area. The atmosphere is great as well! Much more character than the outside leads one to believe! I can make great steaks at home but a friend wanted to treat me for my birthday. Service and atmosphere were great. I liked my salad and the bacon-wrapped scallops were tasty. We each ordered rib eyes at temperatures of medium and medium rare. Both steaks were cooked properly and had excellent flavor. The problem was that we don't believe they were rob eye cuts as they were tough and lean - nothing like a tender marbled rib eye that either of us have cooked at home. We were assured by manager that they were indeed rib eye cuts but we both walked away not believing. They comped us a round of drinks and appetizer which we appreciated. read more

Such a disappointment! We had been a couple times before but this was beyond bad! I usually don't leave poor reviews but all four of us ordered something different and everything was bad. Service was great as usual but you'd think they would of offered a drink or desert after waiting 30 minutes for a recooked lobster. Sad to say but we won't be going back. read more

Lived here in Bend for 30 yrs and been to many restaurants. Zydeco has been our favorite but so many people said to try Brickhouse. I reserved through Opentable and shared that it was a special occasion; wedding anniversary. Got to restaurant a bit early, checked in with hostess. She was quite young and first impression would say fairly unprofessional; especially for what we understood this restaurant to be. We were escorted to a table right by the door and I asked for a different table. We were asked if we'd be ok with the back room. Having never been here I said "sure". We should have stuck with the original table. Water and bread were served quickly. I picked up iPad to order drinks. Got frustrated when I couldn't order. Turns out it was only for viewing: there should be a note on the iPad to say as such. Waiter came and advised. Drinks and appetizers ordered. Got a Macalan 12, Lemon drop for my wife and the garlic Brie appetizer. Delicious and served right away. We then noticed that we were sitting next to a larger table with a very obnoxious group. Fbombs flying and very loud. Wasn't the best ambience. My wife said her salmon was the best she's had. And for the record we've traveled to Europe and many places in the US, so this was a fine compliment to the food and chef. My ribeye was good, but not worth the $55 price. No one recognized the special occasion, so that was disappointing. They should just not set any expectation on that with the question. In the end, our waiter was fantastic and really saved the evening. Brickhouse isn't worth the money. Although we hear their happy hour is great. Ultimately, we will probably stay with Zydeco. They just deliver on all aspects, all staff is courteous and professional, expensive food but totally worth it, great atmosphere. read more

Spent $375 here for a business dinner, two people. If this would have been a 5 star experience I wouldn't have been so shocked at the bill but the service was lacking and the food was sub par. The waitress we had seemed annoyed with us the whole time, and made snotty comments when we asked questions about the menu. When she delivered our drinks, she spilt them both as they were to the rim full, and didn't offer to wipe them off or the table so they were sticky until we asked a busser for a wet rag. The steak was under seasoned and unsatisfying unfortunately. If I was at a chain steakhouse and paying $20 I wouldn't complain, but for a $50+ steak I expected much better flavor and experience. Ruth Chris is leaps and bounds better for example. I also got the scallop appetizer and seared scallops as my side. Again, nothing to rave about but not bad. They were cooked well which is the hardest part but a nice sauce would have complimented them much better. The side of mushrooms ended up not getting eaten so I can't comment on that, but the side of brussel sprouts were delicious. read more

This was an amazing experience. The process of getting a reservation (must be placed with a credit card) was very simple. Be sure this is where you want to eat, because they will charge you a fee (IDK what it is) if you No Show. They allow a strict 15 minute grace period. But, let me tell you, it is worth it. We enjoyed the entire experience. We had never had Wagyu before and it was THE most tender and flavorful steak I have ever had! I don't eat red meat very often, so it is a pleasure having this be a real treat. It's really spendy, though. My husband would not even let me know the price, he just wanted me to experience it. It was our first time back to Brickhouse in over a year, we used to go about once a month. The food was extremely disappointing. One of our fish dishes was so salty it was inedible and one of the steaks we asked for medium well and it was the rarest steak at the table, extremely rare. The rest of the food was ok nothing special. No where near the level of food we expected from the past. To many other options to have poor food at an average cost of $55 per entree. read more

I was so excited when this restaurant reopened after Covid, as it was the only restaurant I had not visited since I moved here two years ago. First the good: the space is well designed and welcoming and the staff are very friendly. Our waiter and the bartender were incredibly kind! Sadly, that was about it. When I saw the prices, I thought this was going to be the best place in town. My first trip was crab cakes and salmon. Oh my...where do I start? the crab cakes were the smallest I have ever seen and were mostly filler, very little crab. The "cedar plank" salmon was about 3 bites of salmon with very little flavor or seasoning. The veggies tasted a little off, like they were not fresh from that day. The serving size was so small. With a beer and tip, my bill came to $78!!!! for one person... The second time, I went with a friend and we both had steak. It was ok, but something i could make at home. It wasn't special or unique. Perhaps I am spoiled after living in SF and NY as well as Houston and DC, all foodie towns. If you order a $50 steak, it HAS to be amazing. We stopped in late on a Thursday night. The place was hopping; we had a seat at the bar. We ordered the seafood platter (lobster, scallops, and grilled prawns) and the filet. Both dinners were AMAZING! The food was prepared perfectly and, despite the restaurant being busy, it was all hot. Of course, Rod, the bartender gave us the perfect amount of attention and was right there for our every need. Brickhouse will definitely be our top choice for a restaurant, every time we are in Bend. read more

Pre Covid we have always loved The Brickhouse. Last night was a disappointment. 2 stars given for the wedge salad and the filet. Everything else was 1 star. We had a side of mushrooms. They were inedible, oddly tough and chewy, gross. They did not charge for it. The mashed potatoes were gummy, didn't eat those either. The steak was cooked perfectly, and delicious. For dessert we had the berry cobbler. It was not warm and had an odd gel center, couldn't finish it. Maybe an off night, but we won't be back for a while. Too many good steaks around town. read more

This place was amazing! We called same day on a Saturday and were still able to get in. The food was phenomenal. I had the filet topped with crab meat add shrimp skewer. My husband had blackened rib eye and mashed potato. Steaks were cooked perfectly and all the sides were great. Our cocktails were delicious. Crab cake appetizer was the best crab cakes I've ever had actually. Loved the romantic atmosphere with dim lighting but it also felt family friendly too. We were seated in the back room at 5:15, which was the only time we could get a reservation for 8 people on a Thursday night. The ambiance in the back room was not good, and we wish we would have been seated in the front of the restaurant. Brickhouse is a higher-end restaurant with $50+ entries and $100+ bottles of wine. High prices are fine, we dine at a lot of higher-end restaurants but with that comes the expectation of a great meal with great service. The waiter was nice but seemed to be stretched between other rooms. The drinks and appetizers came with a slight wait, but nothing too bad. We had the Baked Brie and Garlic and some wedge salads which were good. After that, things went off the rails. It took a good 90 minutes to get our food from the time we ordered. While waiting for the food, the waiter came by after about an hour and apologized for the wait. We continued waiting and waiting. Finally, the manager came by and told us they had a kitchen mishap and a worker had been sent home. Not sure what this was, but all of the other patrons looked to be getting their meals without a long wait. When the food finally came it was good, but we were disappointed by the service. One of our members also overheard the wait staff speaking about whether they should comp us dessert or something for our troubles, but there was no such offer when we received the bill. We expressed our disappointment after paying and we will not be going back to Brickhouse or recommending it to any of our friends. read more

My wife and I were on a weekend trip from Seattle. We decided to have dinner here because we wanted to go somewhere a little more upscale. It was busy, so we waited at the bar for 45 minutes until we could be seated. Our waiter was really nice, but it was very apparent that there were issues among the staff members. Kitchen and front of house staff members openly angry with each other and arguing loud enough where we could clearly hear them from our table. After waiting for our server for a long period of time, I ordered a 16oz Brooklyn, clam chowder and artichoke dip. My wife ordered Salmon. Over an hour later, our food finally arrived. The artichoke dip was really good. The bowl of chowder obviously came from a can and was no fresh made. The steak was $56. It was terrible. It had no texture and most of the flavor was cooked out of it. It was tougher than a $5 steak from Safeway. And then the steak sauce on it was gross. Safeway brand steak sauce tastes better than whatever cheap canned stuff they used. The vegetables on the steak were also way over cooked. The only good thing about this dish were the mashed potatoes. My wife said that her salmon was nearly inedible, but she only ate it because she was starving because it took so long to get to our table. The next day, we went to Black Bear Diner on the way out of town. Their steak was far better and a lot cheaper. The next time we're in Bend, we will not be going back to this place. read more

We found ourselves crossing the threshold here after turning away from several other locations that were booked out until late. Well look at this place, it looks cozy and in we went. Seated promptly at a nice booth in the bar service was quick to greet and get a drink going(the picture attached-open it) some sort of vanilla martini wonderfulllllll concoction...by my friend's response to every sip. What was the waiters favorite steak I asked? Filet Oscar.. and that is what my friend ordered. I, attempting to be frugal, ordered the sirloin and a loaded potato. The result of that decision is sitting green with envy looking at the filet Oscar and my friend's reaction to each bite, vs..say......mine. Oo don't get me wrong the sirloin was good but it was like we were having a When Harry Met Sally moment at the table and she was Sally with her filet Oscar. Service exceptional without being over the top. Some highend steak joints can get a little uppity- not here. Bend cool, classy, personable. Come dine here. 5 stars for the service, 4 stars for the food. 3 stars for the prices. Reservations are recommended as this place is pretty popular and they don't have a lot of tables. I've experienced 45 minute wait times without a reservation for dinner. Not out of the ordinary for primetime. The atmosphere is a mix of class, bar, and noise. It was surprisingly noisy for a restaurant with $$$ prices, but it's as much of a bar as a restaurant. Plan on speaking up to your companions! Also plan on paying a bit extra for your dinner. A Benjamin doesn't go very far here. Drinks are ordered from an iPad which is nice because even the beers have a full description! Great for trying something new! The food is usually very good! I have enjoyed everything I've had here. They had a bit of a miss on my steak the last time I was there. The inside was perfect but the outside had a bit more char than I like. The veggies that came with it were good as were the mashed potatoes. For $42 I prepare myself to be amazed, but was a little underwhelmed. I like to cook steaks at home and I felt like I could do a ribeye better. My wife ordered the Tenderloin Pappardelle and was impressed! The filet tips were incredible and the sauce was delicious. The highlight about Brickhouse is the service. These people seem to love what they do! They are attentive, but not intrusive. They have great sense of humor and easily earn the large tips they deserve. Bravo! read more
