6 oz Filet Mignon with fondant potatoes and seasonal veggies
Pamela F.

Overall, we enjoyed our meal at Brickhouse. The friendly, prompt service from Devon and delicious, well prepared food were certainly highlights. Some of the best French onion soup I've ever had, and I've tried many. The wedge salad was scrumptious if a bit overdressed. The cook on my petite filet was just perfect and the upgraded to fondant potatoes on request was very appreciated and they were quite well done. If I had to do it again, I'd skip the bread service, which was fairly meh. This restaurant is housed in an old firehouse that has been restored, which adds to its charm. What wasn't charming was the very strong fish smell upon entering the front door (so off-putting we considered making an immediate 180 and leaving upon our arrival). We grinned and beared it ~ but made sure to steer clear of any seafood options. Also subpar was the very sloppy appearance of the hostess. We laughed about "being old people now" but wearing a ragged shirt off the shoulder with her tacky bra strap showing with faded jeans and dirty tennis shoes just isn't congruent with the upscale steakhouse vibe it seems they're striving for here. Rounding up 3.5 stars to 4 because the food and service were very good.

This is our second time here and we can't ever get enough. Our server both times has been Glen and he is phenomenal, checks on you just enough, knows the ins and outs of the food and drinks. We adore him. The food is melt in your mouth perfection and cooked so well. We will keep coming back for the amazing service and food. I say 100% worth the prices. The food we got this time was 8oz bacon wrapped filet mignon with crab and lobster on top, so filling and cooked perfectly. The other dish is the bacon wrapped filet mignon with a HUGE lobster tail. Also a must try is the pork belly, if you like pork belly this place makes it the absolute best, so mouthwatering and full of flavor!

Rack of lamb.

We stayed at Seventh Mountain resort for our anniversary and there were so many choices around for food. This place had good reviews, so we were in. The wife had the halibut and I had the rack of lamb. It was cooked perfectly. Both meals were delicious. The service was also outstanding. It can be a little pricey, but hey, it's a special occasion and was worth the $$ for sure. Will go back next visit. Thanks for an awesome experience and great meal!!

Bacon Wrapped Sea Scallops

Sat in the back bricked room with a lit fireplace. Started with cocktails and the Bacon Wrapped Scallops. Excellent dish, served with four big scallops seared perfectly with just enough sauce to add poppin' flavor. We split a Caesar Salad, which was portioned very well. For entrees, we paired the American Wagyu Steak with the Prawns Scampi. The scampi is a poor man's lobster tail and an excellent addition to go with the steak. Richard's service was outstanding.

We're back for our annual Sunriver summer vacation and this place did not disappoint! Service was awesome like always. And the food, one of our favorite steak houses!

Excellent ambiance for a date night dinner. My wife and I came here our anniversary and had a fantastic time. The waitress gave us so many specials to choose from that it was almost overwhelming, and she was able to answer all our questions about the menu and drinks. She was even kind enough to cover our dessert since it was a special occasion! The food was beyond words. We ordered the meatball appetizer and my wife got the lobster tail. I opted for the Japanese Wagyu Special and it was easily the best steak I've ever had!

If you want microwave potatoes and canned beats come here!!! This was the most disgusting salad and mashed potatoes I've ever had. We were so exited after looking at the menu online and I was SO DISAPPOINTED of the food we were served

Prices are ridiculous. Food is good to very good. Service was very good. Indoors is too noisy. We should have taken an outdoor table.

One of the better steakhouses you will run into, so make sure you get reservations well in advance. Great drinks, steak and service.

Ask the Community - Brickhouse - Bend

Do they have gluten-free options?

Is this suitable for kids? We have one kid (4 yo) in our group of adults but want to be sure!

They have outdoor seating which might be best or they also have dining in the back which I think would be fine. The front dining is open to the Bar. Great food!

Food and service was absolutely incredible, the Bavette blew all of my expectation out of the water. That was an incredible meal and the scallops specifically easily rivaled my favorite Michelin recommended Japanese favorite in San Francisco. The brioche popup was fantastic in itself as a starter and I had it side by side with the bacon wrapped date. The friggin date was even spectacular. This was a knockout meal for being all the way up in Oregon. Not only can I not wait to come back, I think I'm comin back in 2 days... I would recommend making a reservation if you want to be seated at a table, there is usually a line at the door for walk ins when they first open. With that being said, you may be sat at the bar if they reach capacity but that is NOT a bad thing - this last time we sat at the bar and had a wonderful experience! The food is 10/10 - our favorite is their hangar steak! If you are in the mood for an appetizer the poutine fries are also 10/10 ! All their cocktails we've tried throughout our visits have also been amazing! The atmosphere is great! The service has always been 10/10 as well - their customer service is unmatched, the owner always makes you feel like you're part of the family! If you haven't been yet, you need to hurry up and get over there!

I show up, had a great table, great drinks, food and dessert too. I had the "PAC. Northwest Ribeye, horseradish mashed potatoes, with the house sauce (mushroom). The steak was AMAZING! (You can have the sauce on the side, but why?) The thick (14oz.) steak laid half over the mashers, and sauce all over which is how I liked it. The mashed potatoes had the perfect blend of horseradish (not overpowering) that went well with my medium-rare steak. It was delicious and, boy I was full! The service was amazing, the food was awesome (my steak was flavorful, juicy, and cooked to perfection!). Price $$$ It is what you'd expect for such a fine dining experience! My drink was (I can't remember the name) but was a crushed berry, whiskey, mint leaf, on ice, but very tasty! I want more! Between the exceptionally good food at Hook and Plow, a most pleasant hotel experience, and a memorable trip to the High Desert Museum; our trip to Bend turned out to be a pleasure instead of the miserableness I expected. We had the Steak Tartare, the Chef's Board, the Blackend Crabcake, the Pear and Burrata Salad, and the Bone-in Pork Chop. We each got the cheesecake for desert and split the other dishes. This was more than enough for the three of us and we left full, happy, and with three large to-go boxes. The flavors of the various dishes were amazing. While all the dishes were vvery good, the standouts to me were the steak Tartare, the Pear and Burrata Salad, and the Cheesecake.

We were greeted by the host and seated quickly. We started our meal with a delicious non-alcoholic drink and the Chef's Board: a charcuterie with an assortment of cured meats, rustic bread, and various spreads. That came out pretty quickly. Unfortunately, our main courses came out much, much later and lukewarm. Luckily, the food was good enough that it made up for the temperature. I had the NY strip steak. The steak and the Boursin mashed potatoes alone were very good. The pickled onions and chimichurri complemented the meat very well. The meal was supposed to include brussel sprouts but came with a grilled broccoli cauliflower assortment instead. My wife had the Scallop Risotto which was also a great recommendation from the server. In reality, The Hook & Plow deserved 3 1/2 stars but that's not an option on Yelp. It may have been an off night for the staff, so I will give them the benefit of doubt. We would be open to trying it again sometime in the future.

We ate here on a recent trip from Eugene and we're excited to see a cajun style restaurant in Bend…read more The restaurant is nice inside and has a low key upscale feel. The menu isn't very large and I think we both settled on choices quickly, deciding to try the most "quintessential" entrees to share. I chose the Blackened Redfish, and my boyfriend the Jambalaya. Even though we had already decided, the waitress went on her whole spiel through the menu highlights, including what we had already had planned to order. Awkward, but it was fine, and we didn't stray from our original choices. The Blackened Redfish was perfectly cooked and flaky. It was served on a bed of mashed potatoes with a slightly tangy sauce. All of it was tasty, but I was a bit disappointed in the lack of spice to the blackening seasoning and the sauce. Also, serving it on grits instead of mashed potatoes would have made it feel 100% more Cajun, even with lack of seasoning. The Jambalaya fared a bit better, although my boyfriend was also left puzzled by the lack of spice to this classic dish. In all ways it was a very good representation of New Orleans style red jambalaya, with the andouille sausage being particularly notable for flavor. The cornbread it came with was pretty good. We shared a piece of chocolate cake for dessert. A very decadent concoction of chocolate, peanut butter, and caramel. It was one of the better $12 slices of cake I've had. Overall? The service was good, if not a bit awkward with the menu spiel. The food was all very well prepared, but for a Cajun style restaurant they sure could stand to spice things up a bit. It's not cheap, but at least the entrees are a full sized meal and you don't have to order many "tiny plates" to cobble together a dinner.

Bad news. Good news…read more Bad news first is this: The Drake has been sold to new owners and TONIGHT, APRIL 12, WILL BE THE LAST DAY OF SERVICE at The Drake with the original owner and the current menu. So if you're hankering for the mac n cheese or shrimp n grits or veg burger or any of the menu items, after today they are history. I started eating at The Drake in their first week of business and had many, many, many meals there over the years but things change and so, it seems, has the popularity of The Drake. Now the good news. The new owners are a trio and one of them is also one of the owners of the inestimable Ken's Artisan Pizza in Portland that opened its' Bend location last year. (Go! Even if you have to stand in line for 45 minutes like I did.) The first news of this ownership change was that they would keep the name and current focus of The Drake. But local television news reports that after The Drake closes today it will be reimagined with a new name and design and menu. The opening for the new place is currently said to be Memorial Day weekend. I don't live in Bend anymore but there is still a family home there and so I visit on occasion and knowing a "Ken's" owner is involved in the new enterprise may make me brave the wicked-bad downtown parking to try this new place. In the meantime, I remember how fun and delicious it could be to eat at The Drake.
