We celebrated our 21st anniversary at the Brickhouse. So absolutely disappointed. I requested my filet without bacon and medium well, it came out with bacon. Server took it back. Kitchen literally unwrapped the bacon, "seared" it and gave it back to me. Well now it's burnt. Brought me another one totally on the rare side! I understand at one point this was an amazing upscale restaurant, that is absolutely not the case any more. I know it's been difficult to staff after things opened up, and while I want to supposed local businesses, you have to get me a reason to want to. Such a disappointment. read more

Had the special, which was the pan seared Halibut topped with mozzarella and tomato Caprese style with lemon pesto crema, roasted Yukon potatoes and asparagus. The lemon pesto crema was amazing! This is our go-to restaurant for a nice evening out. The food is consistently very good and, while not cheap, is significantly less expensive than some of the other nice evening out restaurants in town. What I love: The service. Every time! I am a fairly decent cook and could possibly pull off most of the meals we order here - but to get food with top notch service is a real treat. The servers read a table well and know just what kind of personality to throw at you. You don't sit with empty plates in front of you. You don't feel rushed. And you know that if you ask for a recommendation, it's going to be good. Also - if you want to stop in spontaneously for desert and coffee, the hostess will often let you use one of the reserved tables if you promise to be out before the reservation gets there!! What needs work: Their drinks. Their drinks are solid - but by no means as good as their food. Both my hubby and I drink Old Fashioneds typically and they serve their old fashioned with regular ice cubes. I expect more from here in that regards. What not to miss: Their creme brulee. Order one each. They do usually garnish it with some sort of fruit (blueberries... maybe a sliced strawberry) so for a truly classically good one, order it with no garnish. We were so excited to find that there is a Brickhouse in Bend. We have eaten at the one in Redmond often. This location did not disappoint. It is housed in a beautiful old firehouse with original features that make is an especially lovely setting. The menu is steakhouse fare, with the emphasis on steak. My husband had a delicious, perfectly cooked sirloin. I had the day's special, rack of lamb. The chops were meaty and delicious, accompanied by a perfect sauce of apricot and bacon. Brickhouse was the perfect choice. Service, prices, food quality and the overall ambiance and feel of the establishment were all top notch. For meat lovers, the blackened ribeye is a must. I'd give this place 3.5 stars but doing 4 since I'm trying to keep it relative for Bend. Had the scallops, ribeye steak, brussels and the hula cake. Scallops were actually the highlight of the night by far. Not the largest but they were cooked perfectly and the corn purée was a delightful compliment. Ordered the ribeye medium-rare. I felt like it came out a bit under but it was a solid steak - nothing crazy. Brussels had the right texture with crispy bacon bits and shaved almonds to add some nice hit of salt and crispness. The hula cake was pretty good. I feel like the ratio of ice cream to crust was a bit heavy on the ice cream, especially because the ice cream was a tad too frozen. Let it sit to soften a bit and lose the ice crystals. If it was a bit less sugary, I think it would be more impressive. Solid overall meal. read more

We just had THE BEST dinner Friday night at Brickhouse!! I had a really nice piece of fish that was out of this world in flavor and freshness. My husband had steak oscar, which he said was the best steak he has had in years!! I am allergic to onions and the coleslaw that came with my fish had coleslaw, but they made it without for me. Our waiter was MAGNIFICENT!!! His name is Jonas, and I hope to have him every time we visit The Brickhouse. He did a great job too! Well, The ambiance is very nice. Comfortable lighting and background music not too loud, a crackling fireplace and walls of red brick. Our server was attractive, friendly, and went out of her way to be helpful when asked. However, she was less attentive than she could have been and disappeared for long periods. Drop a fork and nobody is coming to pick it up. An under-dressed bus girl circled the room to make sure all the water glasses were full. She disappeared after an hour. The food was just OK. Bread delivered to the table was almost warm and the little pad of butter was still cold and hard in the middle (my pet peeve). My steak was perfectly cooked but chewy for a very expensive cut. A side of sauteed mushrooms served on a separate plate was oily and tasteless. My companions steak was ordered well but came rare to medium rare. Our server disappeared for too long to send it back for a re-fire. The biggest error is that all the plates were served cold. If they have a plate warmer, they didn't use it and it seemed the plates were likely sitting too long on a counter waiting to be served. You might need to bring your own seasoning. Rock salt in the shaker fails to sprinkle. Pepper is your only other option and they won't grind it for you. The desserts were too sweet for my liking and kind of ruined the end of the meal. I go out to eat so that I can have a better meal than I cook at home. I prefer my cooking to what we had at the Brickhouse. At over $100 a person, my expectations are much higher. read more

I sit here as I finished the best grilled Salmon I have ever tasted. Yes this is a steakhouse but they also have a fabulous fish selection. Got the catch of the day grilled salmon on a bed of potato, corn, and zucchini succotash. Landon was our server and he was awesome! If you like cheese and garlic the baked brie and roasted garlic appetizer was to die for. My bf got the seafood pasta and it was filled with whole scallops, whole shrimp, fish and lobster bits. Really a 2.5 since absolutely mediocre on every, single, level. We are in Bend for a week just to eat, drink, and play. Been driving for best part of 2 days. It is hubbys birthday and Bend was on his bucket list. He wanted fresh salmon. Brickhouse said they had it...fresh IF flown in from New Zealand is fresh ..really! I noticed a YELP free appitizer if you show the waiter. We got amazing prawns. HUGE. However, the waiter appeared offish that I used the freebie and mentioned the birthday. I ordered steak skewers;hubby got short ribs. Took a long time for the order. Mr. Waiter appears with a lone tiny candle waxed to a coaster, "in case we didn't order dessert after all." I am not amused. The beef skewers were tiny with a spicy flavor I did like, on a mayonnaise appearing glob of I don't know what and didnt eat it. The sides didnt sound tempting so I went with fries. Cold, limp, soggy. Hubby enjoyed the flavorful shortrib but his mashed potatoes were JUST mashed potatoes. We will go and have a proper bithday dinner tomorrow night at a place in Bend another disappointed customer suggested. Loads of eateries here. read more

The steaks which we came for, were mediocre at best, I find it hard to believe they weren't choice cuts, vs. prime... I had some dish that had cut up "steak bites", arrived cool to warm at best, and it was clearly from multiple cuts, ranging from a few rare tender, tasty pieces, to mostly "overcooked roast" chunks and gristle in texture. Waiter sold me in the "bone marrow" butter, but that was a wasted 4$ add, underwhelming at best. Crème brûlée was very good. Disappointing for the price overall. Outstanding restaurant, but the staff, starting with the hostess, bar tenders (Rod, Cinnamon, and Maddy) are the best! The waiters/waitresses are very friendly and helpful. The food is always great and outstanding, you could eat there almost every night and have a different delish meal. The insight from our server was worthless and the food was under seasoned. Great quality of food (cut, freshness,etc.) but it had no taste. I have no idea what people are thinking with the reviews I have seen, but the food is pedestrian.
