I'm not sure who dropped the ball, our organizer or the restaurant's, but we didn't get the private room that would have been helpful for our group of 12 to have meaningful conversation. It was too loud to hear anyone other than the person right next to you. I started with a gimlet which was way too sweet. Stick with ordering wine here. The wine list impressive with exclusive Washington wineries such as Leonetti and Quilceda Creek having room in the cellar. If you really want to splurge, they have Chateau Latour and Chateau Lafite Rothschild for ~ $800/bottle. If you do, please invite me. The endive salad was too bitter with ginormous pieces of endive (yes, I know endive is supposed to be bitter, but this lacked balance). The small filet mignon medium rare was perfect and delicious and spendy ($33). I skipped the starch and went for double vegetables. I wish I had twice the veggies and half the steak. That would have been a truly perfect meal. The service was a solid 3. He could have been more attentive, but large groups are challenging for most servers. Last night we had great news to celebrate and we chose to go the Brickhouse and to be honest I liked it a lot. Service from Ken was outstanding even when he was very busy having to take care of a big party in the back of the restaurant. Wine selection was very good, vodka mule was excellent, and overall our dinner was almost great. At first I had a hard time deciding what to order. I really wanted to order the rack of lamb but the Brickhouse steak got my attention by having the name of the business. Don't get me wrong, flavor wise it was OMG so good, so I asked medium rare but it came a little bit more cooked than medium. Ken offered me to re-cook it for me, which I appreciated it, but I was hungry and I didn't want to waste it. Wow!! This was the best meal in a restaurant since our Europe trip a few years back. Everything, absolutely every aspect was wonderful. The food is extraordinary, rack of lamb and seafood pasta. Service was wonderful. Highest recommendation I could ever give. You won't be disappointed. read more

I am giving a 4. Brick house is very nice, the service is very professional, and the food is good. I've gladly paid $85 for a 16oz rib eye at Morton's or Ruth's Chris. But $50 for a 10oz in little ole Bend seems risky to me. The price point is the same, but the level of a Morton's is incomparable. So I ordered the Lobster Risotto. Meh...it was undercooked and watery. We got there at 5:30and it wasn't that busy yet. So not much excuse for a rushed chef unless the chef was short some staff. Good drinks. read more

Just ate here tonight for the first time. We will never go back. The food was waaaaay overpriced! My wife's steak tip pasta was terrible- absolutely no seasoning & no taste. The sauce on her dish, and on my seafood pasta, was barely a sauce at all... more like slightly flavored cream. We let the waitress know of our displeasure & we were offered a free desert, which we did not accept after the very disappointing dinner. Have been here a number of times and the food is usually good. Tonight I ordered the steak, which was good. My wife ordered the sea food platter. The lobster was rubbery and bland. The shrimp was also bland. The scallops were decent. The carrots were basically raw. For the cost of the seafood platter we were very disappointed. read more

I called here soon after Thanksgiving to make a reservation for New Year's Eve dinner. Everything was all good until I called on New Year's Eve to confirm our reservation, since I hadn't gotten any confirmation from them. When I called, I was told that my reservation was made for Christmas Eve instead of New Year's Eve, and was labelled a no-show. They were still able to get us in for NYE, but 1.5 hours later than our original reservation time of 8:00. I would've thought they would call to confirm our "Christmas Eve" reservation, but I guess not...nothing was done by them to make up for their mistake. We get there and we are taken to our table, which is not ready for us yet. The hostess had to set up the table while we were standing in the dining room waiting. The table was very wobbly, but the server eventually fixed it by shoving a cork under the table leg (after reminding him to do so after his initial offer). Finally we sat down and the hostess brought silverware and plates. The server came and didn't say anything as he filled our waters. It seemed that we had to initiate conversation with him in order for him to say anything. Apps arrived, and my mom's scallops were sandy, which was disappointing to her. My dad's crab cakes were good. Dinner came and everything was pretty good. I had the pasta primavera and it was pretty garlicky, but not too bad. We ordered the chocolate lava cake and bananas foster for dessert, but were served the cobbler instead of the bananas foster. When the server came back, he apologized by mishearing us and said they were out of bananas, so we couldn't have our second dessert. Overall, pretty disappointing, since it is a family tradition of ours to have a nice NYE dinner together and it wasn't that great of an experience. I wish they offered maybe a comped appetizer or something for the reservation mistake, or the several mistakes by the server. I arrived to this restaurant (on recommendation ) at exactly 9:00pm after driving 8 hours from Lake Tahoe (we had even already looked at the menu and was excited to try the food) we wanted to eat here before going to our hotel. Much to our disappointment the manger was extremely rude and told us they would not serve us, even though on google it says they are open till 9:30pm and there website doesn't have a closing time listed. We were more than likely turned away because of prejudice as we were dressed down for travel although not inappropriate.. there were still people eating in the restaurant and he had the gaul to lie to our face and say they shut the kitchen "early". My Mother In-law ordered the Big crab Louie...she asked for all crab instead of 1/2 bay shrimp. The waiter said there would be an up charge, so she said, "Okay "! Thought for $30 some dollars the up charge wouldn't be bad & she would get an ample amount of crab! Not so! It was $48 dollars for maybe a claw size amount of crab & a whole lot of salad! First of all, they committed the cardinal sin.... I was at the bar in the middle of dinner when the manager came and asked me to slide over so he could seat 3 others. I sat down in the middle of people when I arrived and had no desire to move once I started eating. On top of that, the steak was overpriced and bland. Yes, it was a prime cut of meat but under seasoned and the side of carrots and broccoli wasn't salted at all. Tourists probably think this place is fancy with good beef, but a foodie knows that they are doing simple preparations with poor execution. Very disappointing, I will not be back. Made a reservation 3 days before and was able to secure a table. Arrived 30 mins early and was able to get seated in advance of our reservation. From the receptionist to the water "boy" to the waiter, the customer service was welcoming and prompt. I ordered the seafood pasta which was fresh and had a very flavorful sauce; a spin on an alfredo that didn't come off overly "fishy" when using a variety of seafood as the main protein. The pasta was a great portion and had left overs; well priced. My partner got the cioppino and let's just say he ate it all. The base was well seasoned and had great favor. He loved that it came with half a crab and thought it was well priced for the portion. We also ordered two desserts, the Crème Brule and the Hula Pie. The Crème Brule was a huge miss, had way too many egg whites and reminded me of an egg frittata; not pleasant. The show stopper was the Hula Pie, I dream of it. We love fine dining. But we want it to be with a certain casualness that allows us to have fun while dining. This place is it! The staff is wonderful, the menu is spectacular, and the prices are quite reasonable for what you get. The steak was cooked perfectly per my request. Not an easy task for a busy restaurant. When you tire of ubiquitous Oregon brew pub fare, it's nice to know there is an old school clubby, dark wood and leatherette cubicles Bar and grill in town where they know how to pour a proper dry martini. Had a great dinner at the bar. Knowledgeable bartender and skilled kitchen. Will be a go to spot in any future travel to the Bend. read more

Eh. Food was marginal. Very overpriced. Waiter was good, atmosphere is nice, but food...again, eh. Baked Brie...$15! Stupid.

Our party of five enjoyed a delightful dinner with Allie (sp?) as our server. She was fantastic and kept glasses filled without interrupting conversation and was prompt with everything we ordered. She also boxed up leftovers in a flash. She also put up with the dad jokes that come with having two dads at a group meal. Apps were great (not as good as dinner, but, definitely worth mentioning). The complimentary bread went well with the spinach artichoke dip, I loved the bacon-wrapped scallops, and the crab cakes disappeared in a heartbeat. For entrees, we enjoyed the fillet Oscar, fillet mignon, prime rib, halibut, and blackened fish (sorry; can't remember what type) and everything was fantastic. The fillet Oscar was so good it could bring tears to your eyes. For desserts, the berry cheesecake had fresh berries, not frozen or canned mush and the berry cobbler was, in the words of one of our party, life changing. I'm already making plans to go back. While I really enjoyed dinner with our group, the Brickhouse seems like it would be a nice date night venue. Also, I really want to try some more of the amazing dishes I saw on the menu. read more

My husband and I celebrated our 50th anniversary yesterday with a delicious meal at the Brickhouse. It was our first visit to the restaurant and we will definitely return. When you pay the server has a card reader. I find this tacky at a fancy restaurant to have the server hovering over the customer as you select the tip amount. It would be better if done the old fashioned way. The mashed potatoes had too much butter and the steak was seasoned with a Himalayan type salt that was a bit much. With steaks ranging $35 to upwards of $75 per person, this needs to be perfection. The appetizers were good but garlic undercooked. Drinks overpriced for quality. Most likely won't go back here. I don't understand some restaurants that set high prices but their cooks are not top notch. Staff was kind minus the server giving off bad vibes when given a good tip. Off putting. read more

Enjoyed the atmosphere and cocktails our steak was delicious. My complaint would be we ordered the side of mushrooms. These mushrooms looked nothing like I have ever seen. They were basically giant stems that resembled slugs but we thought we'd give it a try anyway. Basically chewing on rubber when we told the waiter he said "oh do you want me to take them' we said yes. When it came time for dessert he said he'd like to give us a piece of cheesecake neither of us wanted I preferred the cobbler . Long story short we were charged for the mushrooms and the cobbler. We walked in and were delighted to see the option for no masks, if you were vaccinated. The servers were mostly unmasked. We are SO happy to see them be so progressive and as anxious as we were to "ditch" the masks. This is VERY important to us. Just had an amazing dinner at Brickhouse! Emily was our server and she could not have done a better job. Very personable, helpful, and joyful. We ordered a filet mignon wrapped in bacon, it was perfectly cooked and so tender. We also had scallops that were amazing. Once again perfectly cooked and the glaze was delicious. The sides were also great. Desert was creme brûlée, absolutely perfect. It was a fantastic dinner celebrating our 38th anniversary. We will be back on our next trip to Bend. read more

This place had the absolute best scallops that I have ever had! The service was a little bit slow, but the food absolutely made up for it.

Yuck. What were we doing here?! They sat us in the back room with two other tables that cleared out and then we were all alone. My husband got "a steak". I don't remember what he ordered. But it was salty. Like really salty. I got a fish special which was a deviation of steak for me. The seared ahi was OK, it wasn't salty which is common, but it also didn't taste like anything. They also have a terrible wine selection. We came on the heels of good bottles at a local wine shop. I tried one rose and it was so sweet, I couldn't drink it. I asked to change it and chose a Pinot Gris of the winery I hate but figured it'd be better than the sugar bomb rose. Also terrible. Our server never checked on us in our deserted back room. This was the worst experience and very, very mediocre dinner. We will never be back. read more
